"Sonic boom! Sonic boom! Sonic boom! Trouble keeps you running faster!"

Alright time to review this collection I picked up more than a year ago for the Nintendo Gamecube.

Sonic the Fighters [Arcade] - 7/10

Sonic the Fighters is a pretty solid arcade fighter, with an averagely good, simple story and easy, fluent controls. Pretty fun if you have someone to play multiplayer with. The graphics are pretty good, and the characters are pretty varied. You might wanna give this one a look.

Sonic CD [Sega CD, PC] - 9/10

The sole reason to pick up this collection, Sonic CD is a true masterpiece. The graphics are beautiful, with varied colours and styles. There is also a cool time-traveling gimmick that lets you go to the past, present, good future or bad future. The music is amazing, the best you'll ever hear from a Sonic game, except maybe the first. The control is solid, and the difficulty is perfect. This would've gotten a 10, but some slowdown issues occur in this version of the game.

Sonic R [Saturn, PC] - 7/10

Amazing racing game, with great variety, characters and unlockables. However, there are only 5 tracks (one being a secret one) , so you'll get bored of this quickly. Worth giving a look, however.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 [GameGear, Master System] - 7/10

Solid classic style Sonic side-scroller. Great controls and graphics. Only problem: It's impossibly hard to even beat the first boss. Great for platforming experts and extreme challenge, but otherwise too hard.

Sonic Spinball [GameGear] - 4/10

Unbelievably bad, it's the worst game in this collection. Terrible graphics, stiff controls, repetitive level design, bad music and no replay value. Skip this one, and try the superior Sega Genesis version. (Included in Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Mega Collection Plus)

Sonic Triple Trouble [GameGear] - 9/10

Amazing game. Imagine getting Sonic the Hedgehog 2 [GameGear] (above) and improving the graphics, sound, and level design, plus making it possible to beat without cheating. No further explanation required. Play this, you won't regret it. Too bad they never made a Sega Master System version.

Sonic Drift 2 - 7/10

Good Mario Kart-style racer. Not even close to the quality of Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo Entertainment system, but still a good enough game.

Tails' Skypatrol [GameGear] - 6/10

A very weird game. Not much to say about this one. Give it a try, and see if you like it.

Tails Adventure [GameGear] - 8/10

Great RPG/Platformer blend, give this one a try. Tons of items and power-ups to collect and use, and a lot of levels. Also, you can get passwords from the internet to skip parts of the game.

Vectorman [Genesis/Mega Drive] - 9/10

Great, challenging shooter/platformer blend, this game's graphics and gameplay will blow you away. Some will find it too hard, but I think the challenge is great. Definitely a must play.

Vectorman 2 [Genesis/Mega Drive] - 9/10

Just as great as the first game, except easier, for those who found the first game too hard. Another solid platformer/shooter game. More power-ups, to list another positive.

With one bad game, one iffy game, 5 good/great games and 4 amazing games, this is a collection everyone should look into.

Final Rating - 8/10
