    =============================================================================
    THE SECRET OF THE LAMP!
    
    "For years the secret of the lamp has eluded me, but tonight it was within my 
    grasp.  At long last, I had succeeded in uniting the halves of the ancient 
    golden scarab, which led me along a magical trail across the dunes.  Taking 
    the worthless thief, Gazeem, with me, I ventured deep into the desert. We 
    watched in anticipation as the two pieces of the scarab split apart and 
    buried themselves deep in the sand.  This was what I had searched for!"
    
    "Suddenly, the ground began to quake under us and a huge tiger's head rose
    ominously from the moonlit sands.  I had found it!  After all the searching - 
    The Cave of Wonders!"
    
    "I sent Gazeem into the tiger's mouth with instructions to bring me the lamp.  
    As I watched him draw closer to the cave, I could feel the power of the lamp.  
    But I was unprepared for what happened next..."
    
    "The Cave itself rose in anger and rejected Gazeem, silencing him forever 
    with its massive stone jaws.  'Only one who is worthy may enter,' it roared.  
    'One whose rags hide a heart that is pure.  A diamond in the rough...'"
    
    "Somewhere I will find this diamond and then the power of the lamp will be
    mine!"
    
    
    =============================================================================
     III.  CONTROLS
    =============================================================================
    Up      :  climb up stairs
    Down    :  crouch, pick up rock, climb down stairs
    Left    :  move left
    Right   :  move right
    1       :  throw rock
    2       :  jump
    Start   :  start game, pause/resume game
    
    Dash    :  Push LEFT or RIGHT quickly twice and hold LEFT or RIGHT when you 
               press it for the second time to dash.  Keep holding it to continue 
               dashing.
    Slide   :  Press button 1 while dashing to slide.
    Tip toe :  Press button 2 while crouching to tip toe.
    
    
    =============================================================================
     IV.  GAMEPLAY
    =============================================================================
    Aladdin has 3 life units.  He will lose half a unit if he gets hurt.  When he 
    loses all his life units, the game is over.  You can then choose to continue 
    to quit.  Quitting will end the game but you'll receive a password to 
    continue that stage later on.
    
    Whenever you get hit, Aladdin will be temporarily invincible.  Use this
    opportunity to get by the area.  Things you can "go through" include barrels
    and walls.

     VI.  WALKTHROUGH
    =============================================================================
    ------------------
    Streets of Agrabah
    ------------------
    Aladdin must steal food to eat and this is where the action unfolds.  Help 
    him escape the guards.
    
    Level 1
    -------
    This level is just a chase so all you can do is jump and move left or right.  
    A guard will be chasing you.  If he touches you, you lose so keep your 
    distance.  Besides avoiding the guard, you'll have to avoid barrels, bouncing 
    barrels, rolling barrels, pots, and pits.  Fall in a pit and it's game over.  
    The others just hurt you for 1/2 a life unit.
    
    The order that the obstacles appear in the level is as follows.  The sections 
    where a guard will chase you are labeled below.  Map is not drawn to scale 
    and is an approximation only.

    Rooftops of Agrabah
    -------------------
    When Jasmine (in disguise) gives a child an apple, she has no idea that she 
    must pay for it.  Having no money, the angry peddler has his own way of 
    making her pay which involves the loss of a hand.  Aladdin and Abu arrive in 
    time to save Jasmine.  The two now sprint across the rooftops.
    
    Level 2
    -------
    This is another chase level.  It's easier than the previous one because there 
    is no guard chasing you.  However, if you get scrolled off the screen, you 
    will die.  The only things in your way are steps, barrels, and pits.
    
    From the start the order of the obstacles is as follows.  Map is not drawn to 
    scale and is an approximation only.

    Cave of Wonders
    ---------------
    Aladdin and Jasmine talk at his makeshift home.  Wondering what life must be 
    like in the palace, the two almost have a romantic moment but it is cut short 
    when the guards find them.  Aladdin is thrown into the dungeon where he meets 
    a strange old man.  The old man helps Aladdin escape.  Having escaped the 
    dungeon, Aladdin now enters the Cave of Wonders.
    
    Level 3
    -------
    Walk over to the right.  Jump over to ground below.  Head right until you see 
    the first pit.  Wait and a geyser will erupt.  Wait for it to dissipate 
    before jumping over to the other side.  Once you're on the other side, head 
    right.  Now jump and climb up to the ledge above.  You'll see some water 
    dropping down.  Don't worry as it won't hurt you.  Now walk over to the 
    right.  Hop across the next pit you see.  Then jump down to the ground below.  
    Take a step forward and a boulder should drop down from the sky.  Avoid it 
    and then continue heading right.  Dashing helps to avoid the next two 
    obstacles.  You won't go far before a boulder will roll towards you.  Jump to 
    avoid it.  Now assuming you're still dashing (i.e. you still are holding 
    RIGHT), you will run past the next falling boulder safely.  Head down the 
    stairs.
    
    You'll immediately see an apple below you.  Head to the left.  Drop down to 
    the ground below.  Go to the right to grab the apple.  Now climb back up to 
    the ledge you dropped down from.  Then jump across to the ledge to the left.  
    Walk off the ledge and fall onto the second ledge to the left.  Then quickly 
    jump off the ledge to the ground to the left before the ledge drops.  Step to 
    the left and immediately duck to avoid the bat.  Then dash to the left.  
    You'll be stopped by rocks, slide under to rocks to pass.  Be careful to 
    avoid the boulder that will drop down on the other side.  Head down the 
    stairs.
    
    Jump over to the ledge on the right.  Then jump over to the platform.  Now 
    drop down to the ground.  Floor spikes will appear.  Duck down and the spikes 
    will retract.  So just tip toe past them (to tip toe, refer to the controls 
    section).  To the right will be another set of floor spikes.  Tip toe past 
    them and then step on the switch to the right.  Now head back to the left.  
    Climb up the ledge that is above the left set of floor spikes.  Now head to 
    the right.  You'll soon come across a pit with bread above it.  The bread 
    isn't worth the effort so jump across the pit and head right.  Grab the 
    scarab.  If you die, you'll start back at the scarab now.  Skip the stairs 
    above you and head to the right.  Pass the floor spike.  Then step to the 
    right and slowly proceed until the boulder falls from the sky.  Climb up to 
    the platform above.  Then drop down to the ground.  Jump across the pits to 
    grab the key on the right.  Then head back to the stairs from before.  Climb 
    up to the next floor.  Now head right.  A boulder will drop in front of the 
    pit.  A bat will also fly by.  Wait for the bat to pass before jumping.  Head 
    right once you're on the other side.  Another boulder will drop in front of 
    the pit to the right.  Wait for the geyser in the pit to die down before 
    jumping over it.  Now head right and climb up to top of the ledge.  Walk over 
    to the right where you'll find a stone on the ground.  Pick it up and walk 
    over to the right edge.  Throw the rock at the face in the wall to open the 
    barrier.  Now go downstairs.
    
    There will be another apple below you.  Head to the left.  Then drop down and 
    pass the floor spikes to the right.  Go to the right to grab the apple.  Now 
    head left.  Jump over the first pit.  Now duck to avoid the bat.  Wait for 
    the geyser in the second pit to die down before jumping.  Jump over the last 
    pit to reach the stairs down.  Once you're downstairs, head right.  Wait for 
    the bat to fly past you before jumping over the first pit.  Then, jump over 
    to the ledge on the right.  Immediately jump over to the platform on the 
    right.  Drop down to the ground.  Jump over the floor spikes.  Head right to 
    find the exit to the treasure room.
    
    
    Level 4
    -------
    In the treasure room, only one rule applies, you may only touch the lamp.  
    With that in mind, do not touch ANY TREASURE except for the lamp at the end 
    of the level.  If you touch a treasure, you will die.
    
    Head right.  Jump over the pit.  Then jump over the next 4 pits.  There will 
    be a boulder rolling at you after the fourth pit.  Jump to avoid it.  Now 
    head right where you'll find a treasure chest.  Do not touch it otherwise you 
    will die.  So to easily jump over it, dash to get more momentum.  Now head 
    right some more.  When you pass the two columns in the foreground, jump to 
    avoid the rolling boulder coming at you.  Head right some more.  Then jump 
    over the pit.  You'll find a diamond on the other side.  Again, do not touch 
    it.  Jump over it and head right where you'll find a crown.  Don't touch it 
    either.  Jump over it.  Then jump over the next two pits you come across.  
    Jump over the last treasure chest and head right to the exit.
    
    
    Level 5
    -------
    This is a flight level in which you'll have to guide Carpet as you make your 
    way out of the Cave of Wonders.  You'll die if you hit a wall.  You can, 
    however, graze the wall without dying.  Stay near the bottom for the 
    beginning and then stay near the top for the remainder of the level.  The 
    middle is your safest bet.  Here is an approximate map of the level.

    Sultan's Palace
    ---------------
    With the help of Genie, Aladdin magically becomes Prince Ali of Ababwah.  
    He'll have to battle through the palace in order to meet the Sultan.
    
    Level 6
    -------
    Dash to the right because a guard will chase you after you've walked a few 
    steps.  Dashing is the only way to avoid getting caught.  Jump over the pit 
    you come across.  Grab the key to the right.  Now jump back and climb up the 
    ledge to the stairs up.  Head upstairs.  Now head right and grab the rock on 
    the ground.  Run to the right.  The gate will open.  Pass through it and then 
    climb up the ledge.  Head left.  When the guard comes into view, throw a rock 
    at him.  Quickly run past him before he recovers.  Run all the way to the 
    left.  Don't fall off the ledge though because there is a pit below.  So jump 
    off the ledge instead.  Climb up the ledge to the left of the pit to grab the 
    rock on top.  Then jump over the pit and go down the stairs to the right.  
    Grab the two rocks in the room below and head back up.  Jump over the pit and 
    head left.  When you reach the other side, climb up the ledge there to the 
    stairs up.
    
    A lantern will fall down when you head upstairs.  After it drops, climb up 
    the ledge and then walk to the right to grab the key.  Drop back down below 
    and head to the right.  The gate will open.  Climb up the ledge to the stairs 
    up.  Once you're upstairs, dash to the right.  Another guard will be chasing 
    you so don't stop until you grab the apple to the right.  The guard won't 
    chase you this far so you can take it easy now.  Climb up the ledge and head 
    right.  Let the lantern fall down.  Then drop down and walk to the wall on 
    the right.  When you're standing next to the wall, jump up to find a hidden 
    ledge.  It leads through the wall to a secret room with a bread and a rock.  
    Now head back to the left.  Grab the rock by the stairs down before heading 
    down.  Grab the scarab downstairs.  Walk over to the right side of the ledge 
    so that the lantern falls.  Now look below you.  A guard is guarding the 
    stairs down so you'll have to stun him.  When you're ready, jump down and 
    throw a rock at the guard.  Then quickly head downstairs before he recovers.
    
    Downstairs, you'll notice a key below you.  It's in a room that is sealed off 
    by a gate.  You'll have to double back around to get it so head right for 
    now.  Grab the rock by the stairs.  Drop down to the ground below and head 
    right to the pit.  Climb up the ledge above the pit instead of jumping over 
    it.  Jump over to the next ledge afterwards.  Now drop down once you've 
    cleared the pits.  Head to the right where you'll find a gate in your way.  
    Since you have no key yet, you'll have to go downstairs.  Drop down and head 
    right to grab the apple below.  Then head left.  Climb up the next ledge you 
    come to but be careful since a guard is patrolling the area beneath the 
    ledge.  Head left and drop down.  Throw a rock at the face in the wall to 
    open the gate.  Climb up the ledge and head left.  Drop down after the 
    lantern falls.  Go to the left to grab the key.  Now climb up to the ledge 
    above you.  Head upstairs.  You should now notice that you're in the room 
    with the key that was sealed off from before.  First open the gate.  Then, 
    jump over the pit to grab the key on the left.  Grab the rock on the ledge 
    above you before you head all the way to the right where you can now open the 
    gate.
    
    Grab the scarab and walk up against the wall.  The guard on the other side 
    will notice you and step on the floor switch.  The gate is now open so climb 
    up the ledge and head right.  Jump across the ledge to avoid the guard below.  
    Head to the right.  Climb up the next ledge to the stairs up.  Grab the stone 
    by the stairs before you go up.  Once you're upstairs, you'll need to run to 
    the left.  Way on the other side is a guard.  Throw a rock at him.  Then run 
    past him.  Grab the rock and key that you find behind the guard.  Then throw 
    another rock at the guard to stun him again.  Head back to the stairs.  Now 
    drop down below and head to the right.  Jump over the pit and climb up the 
    ledge to the stairs up.  Climb the ledge once you're upstairs.  Then head 
    left.  You'll step on the floor switch which will raise the gate below you.  
    The room contains bread but you don't need it so skip it.  Throw a rock at 
    the guard to the left and run to the stairs on the left.  Climb up the ledge.  
    Grab the rock.  Then walk off the ledge and throw the rock at the face on the 
    left wall to open the gate.  Run to the right to the next gate.  The exit is 
    to the right.
    
    
    -----------------
    A Whole New World
    -----------------
    Prince Ali takes Jasmine on a magic carpet ride.  Join them as they travel 
    through Agrabah, Egypt, and finally to China.
    
    Level 7
    -------
    Like the flight level from before, you'll have to avoid hitting the buildings 
    as well as the birds, horses, thunderclouds, and berries.  Birds will be 
    found all over the stage so just fly past them.  You'll be safe for the most 
    part by staying near the top of the screen or in the middle.  Stay near the 
    middle for most of the stage while you stay at the top during the forest part 
    of the level.  Here is an approximate map.

    Jafar's Escape
    --------------
    With Aladdin back, Jafar must make his hasty escape now that the Sultan is 
    now longer under his hypnosis.
    
    Level 8
    -------
    This is the last and most difficult chase level.  Jafar will shoot fire and 
    lightning at you while you're trying to jump over pits and dodge falling 
    lanterns.  Stay on the far left side and you won't have to worry about the 
    lanterns and lightning hitting you.  This will make it easier since all 
    you'll have to watch out for would be fire and pits.  Here is an approximate 
    map of the level.

    Final Battle
    ------------
    With Jafar in control of the Genie, Aladdin must face the sorcerer in this 
    final showdown to decide the fate of Agrabah.
    
    Level 9
    -------
    Jafar will wave a sword in the air.  He'll then shoot a fireball at you.  As 
    long as you don't move forward, the fireball will land in front of your feet.  
    Walk under the sword to have it drop down.  Get out of the sword's way.  You 
    will die if it hits you.  Grab the sword after it drops and swing it at 
    Jafar.  He'll now transform into a giant cobra.
    
    He has three attacks.  The first is to shoot a fireball at you.  Don't move 
    forward and it will always land in front of your feet.  The second attack is 
    to release a fireball that bounces towards you.  Just walk under it.  The 
    third attack is to drop a fireball wave that heads towards you.  Jump to 
    avoid it.  Wait for Jafar to either use the bouncing fireball or fireball 
    wave before attacking him.  When you hit him, Jafar be pushed back a little 
    bit and his tail will slap you back.  Just wait for another opportunity and 
    then move in for the kill.  You can get two hits off if you get hit because 
    you're temporary invincibility will prevent you from getting pushed back by 
    Jafar's tail.  It will take 8 hits to defeat Jafar.

    Enter AIQY to become permanently invincible.  You can still die by falling 
    into pits or by letting the guards catch you.  Everything else though 
    (including walls in the chase stages) will not hurt you.
