    1) Introduction
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Welcome to my Castlevania: Circle of the Moon FAQ/Walkthrough. Castlevania was one
of the best, if not the best, launch game for the Game Boy Advance. It included a level-up
system similar to an RPG, the adventure similar to Metroid, and the appeal of Zelda.
Needless to say, Castlevania was a sleeper title.

I thank you for stumbling upon this FAQ while others by more popular authors like
Dallas and Croco are up. That's not saying this one is better or worse then the others-
    that's for you to decide.

Castlevania is a very, very long game, and looking at the screen that long and even
looking at this walkthrough, which is just plain black and white text, will hurt your eyes.
If that happens, immediately save or stop reading, go have a soda, eat something, "freshen
up" and come back to the game. Besides, if you ruin your eyes now, what will you ruin when
    you play GameCube?

    3) Story
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

    The year is 1830.

In an ancient castle on the outskirts of the Austrian empire, a demon lord that would
unite the powers of darkness was being resurrected at the hand of a fiend yearing for
    chaos.

At this demonic castle, Camilla, one of Dracula's minions, began the incantation of a
ritual to bring her lord Dracula back to life.

The vampire hunter Morris and his two apprentices, Nathan and Hugh, sensed an abnormality
in the balance of nature and rushed to prevent Dracula's unholy reemergence.

"That unholy monster must never return!"

However, they returned too late to prevent Dracula's return from his confinement. Dracula
used his magical powers to imprison Morris, and cast Nathan and Hugh into a graveyard
    underneath the demonic castle.

Together the two began to search through the castle in order to vanquish Dracula and to
    rescue their master.

    4) Controls
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

To stay alive in Castlevania, and even perform summons later in the game, you need to know
the controls like the back of your hand.

Control Pad-Control your character. Move character around the screen and direct jumps.

A Button-Jump, confirm selection on screen

B Button-Attack, cancel selection on screen.

R Button-Use your special move(used in conjunction with control pad).

    L Button-Activate/Deactivate DSS.

Start Button-Pause game, display quest screen.

    Select Button-Display map.

    5) Characters
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Who's that, which character gives me what.....in RPGs, knowing the characters is
everything. Here's my own little character guide, free
for you to take a look at.

Nathan Graves-The hero of the game. You'll control him throughout Castlevania, with only a
trusty whip and array of magic cards that you must find. He's been the one chosen by
Morris Baldwin to be given the Hunter's Whip.

Hugh Baldwin-Your "rival" in the game. He's jealous of you, and belives you are too weak
to fight beside him and have the Hunter's Whip. He carries a sword as his primary weapon.

Morris Baldwin-Hugh's father and a good friend to Nathan's parents. He and Mr. and Mrs.
Graves both successfully eliminated Dracula 10 years ago. Morris does not favor his son,
and has chosen Nathan as his successor.

Dracula-Sealed 10 years ago by 3 vampire killers, Dracula hopes to use Morris' energy to
fully revive himself and conquer the night again.

Camilla-A demon in disguise, Camilla is the one who sucessfully resurrected Dracula.
You'll fight her in the game as boss, where she'll give you trouble both reaching her and
    fighting her.

For a complete list of enemies, check out the Enemy List section.

    6) Castle Areas
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Traveling through the entire castle of Dracula will be very tedious, and you'll pass a lot
of areas along the way. This section will give you an idea of what you're up for in each
area. Some are connceted to others, so don't get the idea they're all spread out. You'll
be returning to many of them a lot, but the area name won't appear like they did the first
    time you entered the area.

Catacomb-The first area of the game, the monsters here are very weak-but so are you.
Mostly made up Skeletons, Bone Heads, Poison Worms, and Gremlins, you should be able to
level up quickly. Watch out for the Earth Demons, though.

Abyss Stairway-A long, vertical hallway, mostly made up of ledges and Bone Heads. Climb to
the top-there's no where else to go.

Audience Room-The "main" part of the castle. It connects to many other areas. You'll find
    yourself returning here a lot.

Outer Wall-Not really too big of a area, but it is littered with Devil Towers and and Axe
Armors. Be on your toes with electric skeletons-they can take a big chunk out of your HP
if you're not at a high enough level.

Machine Tower-Use gears and your instincts to survive Fox Hunters, Heat Shades, and Medusa
Heads. Good luck stay on the moving platforms and dodging attacks at the same time.

Eternal Corridor-A very long, horizontal hallway littered with the strongest enemies you
have seen yet. This area marks the halfway point of the game-that's not many save areas
ahead, and the enemies are going to get much tougher.

Chapel Tower-A large, verticle tower. Easily one of the biggest areas of the game. There's
only 3 save points here-and hundreds of enemies. Be cautious.

Underground Gallery-Be prepared for poison fun! Stock up on antidotes and charge through
the first of 3 underground areas.

Underground Warehouse-You'll have to solve many box puzzles in this area. The good news is
that once you've solved them, they stay solved-permantly. Watch out for those beam-
    shooting Holy Armors!

Underground Waterway-The last and perhaps hardest of the Underground areas. Make sure you
have the cleansing item from Death to easily travel through this area. You'll be going up
against water and ice creatures here-if you get frostbite, thaw out quickly!

Observation Tower-Packed with incredibly strong monsters and only one save point, the
Observation Tower is the hardest area of the game. Not only is it huge, but around every
corner is a powerful demon. Enter at your own risk.

Ceremonial Room-The place where you're final showdown with Dracula takes place. Defeat him
    and save your Master!

Battle Arena-This area is hell. No magic, and you can't heal or take a break in the 17
rooms. However, your efforts will be rewarded with the Shining Armor, the game's best
armor, if you can brave the entire arena.

    7) Important In-Game Information
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

-Your stats are very important to know. How much damage you inflict on an enemy depends on
your STR stat. This can either be through physical attacks, or through magic attacks. How
much damage you take from an enemy depends on your DEF stat. Your INT stat tells you how
fast your MP will recharge, and your LCK stat tells you what chance you have to finding
an item or card once you've killed an enemy. Your INT and LCK do not interfere when you do
magic-you don't get lucky and get some super attack while using magic. Your stats go up
when you level up, and you can also use items to improve them. Your stats will only stay
improved when you use the item, so don't think you can take it off and still have the
    effect.

-There are a couple status changes that can occur when you're playing the game. If you
touch poison, you will be poisoned. Poison knocks off a bit off your health every second.
As you can see, this can be very annoying. You can either wait for the poison to wear off,
or use an antidote to restore your status immediately. If you are touched by a Medusa or
an Evil Pillar's projectile, you will be turned to stone. Keep hitting left and right on
the control pad to return to normal, or just let an enemy touch you. If you touch a Legion
or Marionette, you will be cursed, where you can't attack anymore. Use Cure Curse to
return to normal. Poison and Curse can also be cured at the save room.

-Save Points are large statues with a shrinking red ball in them. Walk up to one and press
up on the control pad to restore your health and MP, and be given a choice to save.

-Unlike other Castlevania games, when you beat a boss, you do not get
full health-you must find a save point to receive full health.

-Killing monsters gives you exprience. To level up, you must have a certain amount of
experience. To see how much exp each monster gives you, check out the Enemy List in this
    FAQ.

-Bosses are signaled by a large blue-bordered door. Make sure to save and have full health
before you enter a boss room.

-You can mix and match two DSS cards(one action and one attribute) on the DSS screen in
the sub-menu. To see what each combination does and it's effects on both enemies and you,
    see this FAQ's DSS section.

-If you can't do an ability, like do two jumps in the air, run, or push boxes early in the
game, don't worry! You will gain the skill by beating a boss later in the game.

-If you can't beat a boss, level up some more! It can't hurt. Also, try to find a DSS
combo that will strengthen your attack or provide more defense. Anything that will help
you take him out faster, or let you last longer.

    8) Items
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Where would you be without items? Armor, recovery, you name it-Castlevania has it. Here's
a complete list of items and their stats. Not all of the armors, clothes, and rings are
acquirable in the early game-so if you get Leather Armor and have nothing else, put it on-
it gives you more then you had before.

    9) Sub-Weapons
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

A returning idea from many previous Castlevania games, sub-weapons will save your hide in
some situations. You can use them against bosses to attack from far away, or use them to
tackle enemies when you're low on health. Whatever the cause, make sure you have the right
    sub-weapon in the right situation.

Dagger-Flies straight forward, and when comes in contact with enemy, stops. Primitive, yet
    useful.

Axe-You chuck it in the air, and it loops downward. Good for enemies beneath you, but a
very short range if they're next to you.

Holy Water-You throw it on the ground in front of you, and it does splash damage on the
enemies around it. Useful, but again short-ranged.

Boomerang-The best sub-weapon. It's fast, has a long range, does good damage, and comes
back to you. If you can get it to turn around on an enemy, the enemy will pick up extra
damage. The Boomerang is only found at the end of the Triumph Hallway and right before the
door to enter the Battle Arena.

Clock-Useful in areas where you're jumping from moving platforms with enemies all around
(coughmachinetowercough). It stops all enemies on the screen for a certain time.

You can use Pluto and Salamander to make a Super Sub-Item Attack. Very useful when facing
big amounts of enemies, or hard bosses.

    10) Abilities
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Most of these abilities are gained after beating a boss. You'll usually have to come back
to an area to reach a previously inaccessible item. There are a lot of these spots, so
it's pretty hard to remember all of them. Most of them usually contain a Max Increase Item,
so take a look at that section for details.

Whip-Your main weapon. Press your regular attack button to use it. You start the game with
    it.

Jump-Basic jump. Press the jump button to execute it. You begin the game with it.

Walk-Press left or right on the control pad to walk. You can do it at the beginning(well,
how else were you going to move?)

Slide-Hold down, then press A to slide across the floor. You can do it right off the bat.

SubWeapon-Hold up, and hit the attack button to use your subweapon. It will be either a
knife, axe, holy water, a clock, or a boomerang, depending on what you have.

Dash(Dash Boots)-Tap left or right twice on the control pad to dash. You need to find the
Dash Boots in the Catacombs to do so.

Double Jump(Gravity Stone)-Press A while in the air to perform another jump. You must beat
the first boss to gain this item.

Magic Tackle-Press R to execute this move. It is mainly used to break stone blocks but you
can also attack enemies with it. You must beat the second boss to gain this ability.

Wall Kick(Wall Kick Boots)-Press while adjacent to a wall to kick off it and reach new
heights. You must defeat the third boss to gain this ability.

Push Boxes(Heavy Ring)-You can push those brown-borded crates around with the Heavy Ring.
Defeat the fifth boss to get it.

Cleansing-Just land in poisoned water to cleanse it. You must defeat the sixth boss to be
    granted this ability.

Fly(Roc's Wing)-Hold up and hit R to soar upwards. Keep repeating until you are high
enough for your needs. Defeat the seventh boss to get this ability.

Last Key-Unlock the door to the ceremonial room, where Dracula and your Master awaits. You
must beat the eighth boss to use this.

    11) Bosses
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Here is the basic info for each boss:

    Name Location Hit Points Experience
                | | |
    Cerberus | Catacomb | 600 | 500
    Necromancer | Audience Room | 500 | 2,500
    Iron Golem | Machine Tower | 1,000 | 8,000
    Adramelech | Chapel Tower | 1,800 | 16,000
    Twin Dragons| Undergroud Gallery | 1,400 Each | 15,000 Each
    Death |Underground Warehouse| 1,760 | 60,000
    Camilla |Underground Waterway | 1,500 | 80,000
    Hugh Baldwin| Observation Tower | 2,800 | 120,000
    Dracula 1 | Ceremonial Room | 1,200 | 150,000
    Dracula 2 | Ceremonial Room | 3,000 | N/A

Now, for strategies on how to beat each one:

Cerberus-He'll shoot white lasers from his mouth when he's above you, and will dash at you
when he turns red. Duck in front to avoid the charge, then whip him good. To avoid the
lasers, get under or behind him, and his heads won't reach you. I suggest Level 6 to take
this guy on. Defeat him to win the Gravity Stone.

Necromancer-This guy doesn't want to die. Once you put 250 damage on him(he has 500 HP) he
will change to his skeleton form. Both will summon monsters, and use dark energy to attack
you. Hard if you're not at a high level. Try to level up to Level 12 for him. Defeat him
    to win the Magic Tackle.

Iron Golem-He'll pound the ground, knocking gears to the floor. Jump when he pounds, then
try to dodge the falling gears. Use the boomerang to put on extra damage, and hit him with
your whip every chance you get, since he heals himself also. Just don't let him grab you,
and you'll be fine. Defeat him to win the Wall Kick Boots.

Adramelech-Have either the knife or the boomerang as your subweapon. Stand on the platform
far to the right, and start chucking your subweapon like heck at him. The skulls will stay
under you, but the blue energy balls you have to dodge. After you run out of hearts, dodge
his attacks, then run in, attack, retreat, dodge, run in, etc. until he's defeated. Defeat
him to destroy 2 statues blocking future areas.

Twin Dragons-Equip Mars and Mandragora and hop down to the bottom. Pick a dragon, then
slide under it's head when it comes in your direction. Attack when you can, and keep
sliding to avoid being hurt. After one dies, the other will eat it, recovering some HP.
Defeat this one in the same manner. If you need to heal, retreat to the top(under a
doorwat) and heal with Jupiter and Mandragora. Defeat them to win the Heavy Ring.

Death-Equip a shield(poison is perferred) to eliminate the flying blades. Avoid his legs,
and never stop attacking him. After he takes some damage, he'll transform into a spider-
creature on the ground. Chuck the boomberang at him, and keep your shield on. After awhile,
Death will be brought down. Defeat him to win the Cleansing Item.

Camilla-Great strategy here! Stand on the central platform(the highest) and turn on the
poison shield. Duck down. She'll fly under you on her skull, and take damage. She can't
attack you, since her bubbles will be destroyed by the shield, and you will never come to
your height. To get rid of her faster, chuck axes down at her. Defeat her to win the Roc's
    Wing.

Hugh-At the beginning of the battle, you can easily whip him, back up a bit and avoid his
sword, then whip him again, back away, etc. After he gets power from Dracula, he'll be
faster. Try to summon the Thunderbird or Cockatrice to deal with him, and use your sub-
weapons. Occasionally, you should get in close with your whip, but try to avoid his
attacks too. Defeat him to win the Last Key.

Dracula 1-This one is easy. Jump over the three bats, then whip him or summon the
Thunderbird. All of his attacks are easy to avoid, so just dodge and attack. Defeat him to
    rescue your master.

Dracula 2-You gotta hit the eye here, and only when it's open. Summoning the Thunderbird
is a good way to deal with it-you'll be invincible too. Now after he receives 1,500 damage,
he'll start charging you(dodge with Roc's Wing), and only after his third charge will the
eyeball open up. As soon as he charges you for the third time, summon Thunderbird. The eye
will be in for a shocking suprise. Defeat him to beat the game.

    12) Walkthrough
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This section holds the walkthrough for the game. It does contain spoilers however; so you
may just want to get past the game on your own. Of course, you should do that in the first
place, since you just spent 40 dollars on the game.

This is a very long game, and your first time through may be a little confusing-don't
worry, the castle is huge, and everybody gets lost the first time.

I will list the conversations that take place between the characters. If you're like me
and like to see conversations and cut-scenes again, this will be a nice little feature for
    you.

                                 Beginning Game

Camilla: We craze the presence of the embodiment of suffering, the ruler of darkness!

Dracula: I have waited for this moment, to be awake again. To bask in darkness and feel
    the moonlight within.

Camilla: Count Dracula, I am honored to be in your presence.

Dracula: Indeed. Though I lack my full power.

Camilla: We are preparing the rite to replenish your power...

Morris Baldwin: Stop! You cannot be allowed to taint the world!

Dracula: You.....I remember..You were one of the vampire killers that sealed me. You've
    aged.

Morris Baldwin: It is our duty to see you banished.

Dracula: Amusing, to use my nemesis' life to return to my power. I have no use for
    children. Be gone!

(Hugh and Nathan fall down a large pit)

    Morris Baldwin: Hugh! Nathan!

    Nathan Graves: Master!

    Hugh Baldwin: Father!

Nathan Graves: Hmmm.....no creatures around here. Hugh, are you okay?

Hugh Baldwin: Yeah. We were just brushed aside and ignored...

Nathan Graves: We have to find Master.

Hugh Baldwin: I'll go. He's my father. Nathan, you'll be in the way. Just get out of here.

    (Hugh leaves Nathan)

Nathan Graves: I want to find Master as much as anybody.

    (Control shifts to player)

Walk right, then fall down. Use the platforms below you as stepping stones, then kill the
Skeleton Bomber. Head right now, and kill another bomber. Head left, then down, and kill
another bomber. Now jump down onto the platoforms, and kill a couple mroe skeleton bombers.
This area is to get you used to jumping and attacking. If you don't have the Salamander
card by the time you exit to the right, exit, then come back and kill the bombers again
until you get the card. Then exit right.

                               Catacomb

Walk right, then kill the skeleton bomber. Continue right and kill two more. Destroy the
torches for hearts, then walk down the ramp and kill the bats. After that, head down and
to the right on the ramp. Kill some more skeleton bombers, then jump up and keep hitting
the poison worm nest on the ceiling until it burns up. Twirl your whip(hold B) to
eliminate all the poison worms that fell, then kill the next skeleton bomber. Jump up and
kill some bats, then head right and jump up to the ramp. Follow it to the doorway, then
enter that and save your game.

Now you'll want to go back out, and not go down at all. Kill the Bone heads along your
previous path, exiting the area once they're dead, then reentering. Soon, you'll get the
Mercury card. Go to your DSS sub-screen on the start menu, and you can match the two up.
While in-game, you can press L to activate/deactivate your fire whip. This will make the
    first areas much easier.

Head down the ramp, then to the right. Slide(down and A) through the skeleton bombers and
poison worms. Exit to the right. In this room, you'll find the Earth Demon. You shouldn't
try to defeat him now, just time your jumps over his spikes that rise from the ground.
Just keeping walking right until you reach the dash boots. Now you can run by hitting a
direction on the control pad twice. Now jump on the red platform to your left, then jump
on the enxt one. Kill the bats to your left, then run and jump right. Exit through the
    door.

Your best move would to be to slide through this area. The sliding will kill the skeletons,
zombies, and poison worms. If not already, you should be at Level 2 now. After heading
right far enough, you can exit this area.

Drop down to the bottom path, and enter another area. Run past the Earth Demon's spikes,
then slide under the narrow space to get a Heart Max Increse. Slide back under, and exit
    through the entrance.

Now climb up the platforms. There should be some ground on the right side, with a bone
head hanging from the top, and a skeleton on the platform underneath it. Once you reach
that, head into the doorway on the right and save your game.

Exit this room through the entrance, and head up on the platforms, and heading to the
right. Uee the upper-right entrance in the ceiling to exit. Now head to the left, and kill
the skeleton bombers. Use the platforms and ledges to climb up to the topmost ledge; then
run to the left, jumping over bone heads and spirits. Exit through the open space on the
left, then when in the next room, try to stay on the platforms; if you're on the bottom,
mudmen will deal with you. Then use a "T" shaped ledge to escape this area, and jump to
the topmost ledge on the other side to enter a room with a save point. Save your game.

Now exit the save room and fall to the bottom. Exit to the left, then fall all the way
down, run left, then jump up and go to the room on your left. Kill all the mummies, and
when they stop coming out, kill the coffins. Do this for four coffins, then run all the
way to the left and smash the torch to grab the Holy Water sub-item. Exit this room
through the right. Now just use the platforms to climb all the way up, then enter the room
through the blue-bordered door. Your first boss fight! Check the boss section for details
on this boss. After you beat the boss, run to the left and open the door. Walk left and
grab the Gravity Stone, which will allow you to double-jump. While in the air, press A to
    perform another jump.

Now head back to the closest save room, save your game, then return to the mummy room.
When you head all the way to the left, use your double-jumps to climb all the way up. When
you reach the top, head through the door on the left.

                              Abyss Stairway

When you first enter, drop all the way down, and you'll be on a ramp in the Catacombs. Now
jump to the ramp next to you, and head up the other side of the Stairway. Use the
platforms to climb all the way up, then exit through the top. Now climb up the ledges and
the crumbling platforms, while killing boneheads. When you spot the third bonehead, head
into the area on the right and save your game. Now climb a couple more ledges, then exit
    to the right.

Run up the ramp, then jump from ledge to ledge, while taking time to kill the skeletons
and gremlins. Keep going up until you reach a fork in the stairway. Take the right
path(the left is a short dead-end) and when you reach the platform above you, go left,
then continue climbing ledges. Exit through the top once you reach it.

                                Audience Room
Run up the ramp and head to the right. Enter the door, then kill the slime and Axe Armor
there. If you don't receive the Venus card the first time, exit and re-enter until you do.
Once you do, leave the room. Now head left this time, and kill the Axe Armor. Now while in
this room, drop down to the middle long ledge(not the small ones sticking out of the sides)
and walk left, then climb up the other side of ledges. When you're at the top, walk right,
and you should see a door. Enter it, and kill the Skeleton Soldiers and Axe Armor.
Continue right, and you'll see two more axe armors and more skeleton soldiers. Kill them,
then run right, and jump up to the first ledge. Enter the room to the right and save your
    game.

Now exit through the top exit of the room you were previously in, then navigate the ramps
and ledges in the next room to exit through the top.

                                   Outer Wall

Head right, and stay on the broken ledges, or you'll have to start all over again from the
beginning of the Outer Wall. Kill the Skeletons and Will o Wisps, then exit through the
ledge on the right. Head right and stay on the ledges again, and kill the skeleton bombers.
After 4 or so ledges, you can exit through a hole in the floor. Head down the ramp, drop
off, then run and jump to reach another ledge on the left. Exit through the left. Go in
and press Up at the doorway. Once you're warped, exit to the right, stand on the switch to
destroy a barrier and create a shortcut. Now go back through the warp. Go back down the
ramp, and now to the right. Kill the skeleton soldiers and electric skeletons, then exit
through a hole in the floor. Now head right, and exit there. Fall down the ramps, and exit
through the left. Now head right, and kill all the Axe Armors and Devil Towers. Climb up
the ramps, and keep going right until you reach the exit.

Run down the ramp, then jump off and land on the bottom-most level. Kill the devil tower
and the electric skeleton, then run to the right and save your game. Now just climb up all
the platforms, and quickly jump between crumbling ledges until you reach the boss door.
Enter it and equip the Venus and Salamander DSS Combo.

Necromancer: Extraordinary! To be dropped into the abyss and still live! But your luck is
    about to run out.

Nathan Graves: Get out of my way!

Necromancer: Child, before I finish you, I will tell you some news. Your precious master
    is already in our power.

    Nathan Graves: What!!!!

Necromancer: That old man will feed us with his soul. The rite has been prepared and we
    only await the full moon.

    Nathan Graves: No!

Check the boss section for details on how to beat Necromancer.

    (After Battle)

Nathan Graves: I know Master is still alive! Hold on, I'll be there. Although, where is
    Hugh?

Now walk through the opening on the left, grab the Tackle item, then head back to the save
point and save your game. Exit this room through the entrance.

Climb to the top of the room, then exit to the right. Run right, then try out your new
Tackle technique by pressing R. Nathan will break the stone block. Now head up, then right,
and enter the warp gate. On the other side, run past the broken barrier, then up to the
first ledge. Run left and up the ramp, then jump to the ledge on the left, then one to the
right, and another to the left. Enter the next room through the door.

Walk down the ramp and break the stone block. Keep going left until you reach a ramp going
up, then follow a higher path right. At the end of that, go up the ramp, and exit through
the top to reach the Machine Tower.

                                Machine Tower

Use the red platforms moving up and down to jump the first ledge on the right. Enter the
room and save your game. Exit the save room through the entrance, then jump to the moving
gear to your left. Quickly jump to a ledge on the left, and kill the Fox Hunter. Jump up
to the next red moving gear above you, then jump to the moving red platform above you.
Jump to a small niche to your left, then jump to the next moving red gear. Then jump to
one on your right, then to another one on the right. Ride it to the top, then walk up the
    ramp and exit the area.

Head all the way to the right, and jump on the moving red platform to a ledge on your left.
Jump to the right to jump on a movinf red gear, then up to another red platform. Once on
the platform, jump to the ledge on your right, then to another red moving gear. When near
the top, jump to the ledge on your left and kill a Fox Hunter. Jump up, then kill another
Hunter. Once on the platform he was, ride a moving red platform to the right, then up to
the next one. Now jump up and to the right to another moving platform thanks to the ledge
above you. Now exit through the right.

Drop down, and kill all the enemies. Tackle the stone block to the right, then climb the
ramp above you. Jump up to the next ledge, break the the stone block. Jump to the ledge on
your right, then one to your left. Use the stone block to jump on top of the other one on
the next up. Jump on the next one up on the left, and exit through the left. Head all the
way to the left, then choose the bottom path. Save your game, then exit the room and
choose the top path. Jump up, then climb up the ledges until you reach the top. Now head
down, and all the way to the right to face the Iron Golem. See the boss section for
details on how to beat him.

    (After Battle)

Nathan Graves: Hugh! Are you alright?

Hugh Baldwin: What are you doing here? Are you trying to take my glory?

Nathan Graves: Wha? What are you talking about? I just want to save Master.

Hugh Baldwin: You're in the way! I will defeat Dracula myself! And then..

    Nathan Graves: Hugh?

    (Hugh leaves)

Walk and exit right, then run all the way to get the Wall Kick Boots. Now just backtrack
all the way to the save room to restore your health and save.

Now backtrack all the way to the bottom of the machine tower. Exit through the hole in the
floor. Run down the ramp, then drop down to a lower level. Kill the clinking men, head
right, and fall down to a lower level. Head right, killing the ectoplasms, zombie thiefs,
and skeleton soldiers until you reach a stone block. Break it, then exit through the door
    on the right.

                               Audience Room

Climb up to the tallest ledge, then cross over to the right. Exit through the door on the
right then. Run all the way to the right until you reach a ledge just above you. Jump up
to that ledge and save your game. Now climb up the ledges until you reach the top and exit.
In this next room, go right and up, and exit to reach the Outer Wall.

                                 Outer Wall

Jump from ledge to ledge, then exit on the right. After the four ledges here, drop down
through the hole in the floor. Now drop down, then jump to the left to reach a ledge which
will lead you to a warp area. Use it, then head all the way right, and you'll reach the
pit at the beginning of the game. Fall down it.

                                Beginning Game

Now, just drop all the way down and exit to the right.

                                   Catacomb

Head right. Kill the skeleton bombers, then double jump up to the ramp on the left in the
    opening.

                                Abyss Stairway

Climb all the way up, then when at the top, exit to the right. Now climb up these
platforms, kill the skeletons and gargoyles. When you reach a place with a door to your
right that leads to a statue, jump up to that vertical hallway, and wall-kick your way up.
When you're all the way up there, exit through the door to your right.

                               Eternal Corridor

Welcome to the point where the monsters take a giant leap. After this point, you'll face
much stronger monsters, and save points will be few and far between. Nonetheless, the hard
point of the game starts here.

Kill the gorgons and ectoplasms that appear, and exit to the right. Now, keep heading
right and kill the skeleton knights. About miday through a Flame Demon will appear-just
ignore him if you want, and keep heading right until you reach an exit. In this next area,
kill the Were-Bears and the Beast Demons. Exit through the right again, and kill the Evil
Hands. Another Flame Demon will appear too. Exit through the right again, then jump over

right. Run all the way across to the left and enter a room with a save point. Save your
    game. Then exit that room.

Now exit the room through it's entrance, and head right, jumping over the gap. Exit to the
right, and walk to the blue-bordered door.

(Hugh flies backwards out of boss area)

    Nathan Graves: Hugh! You okay?

Hugh Baldwin: You! Back off! This is my trophy to claim!

(Hugh tries to get up but falls back down)

    Hugh Baldwin: Urgg!

    Nathan Graves: Hugh!

    (Nathan walks into boss arena)

See the boss section for details on Adramelech. Once you defeat him, head into the doorway
on the right, and step on the switch to destroy the statues. Now continue right to pick
up a Max Increase item. Now exit the boss room through the entrance.

Hugh Baldwin: Damn! Who said I needed help?

Nathan Graves: Oh, you didn't need any help, eh?

Hugh Baldwin: Make no mistake, jerk, you won just by the power in that whip!

    Nathan Graves: What?

Hugh Baldwin: You, who never beat me even once in training, were selected by my father as
his successor and awarded the hunter's whip. Your parents, together with my father, sealed
Dracula. That's the only reason you get the attention you do! Don't you forget it!

    (Hugh runs off)

Now head back to the save point, and save your game. Head all the way to the bottom of the
Chapel Tower(should be easier then going up) until you reach the very bottom save
point(the first one in the tower). Save your game, then exit that room and head left, then
drop down to exit. In this room with the armours, exit to the left, then while in the next
room, jump over the gap and exit to the left again.

                                 Eternal Corridor

Here, head left and drop down into the gap in the floor. Then head left and exit through
the door. Now exit left again(a statue was previously here).

                               Underground Gallery

Walk left and kill the imp. Bash the torches for hearts, then kill a few more imps and
head left, then drop all the way down. Exit through the door on the left. In this room,
kill the Harpy, then the imp on the ledge. Jump up to where the imp was standing, and kill
the next Harpy. Kill one more imp, then exit to the left. Now, kill the Specters, and
climb up the crumbling platforms until you reach a room with a save point inside. Save
your game, then exit the room through the entrance.
Now fall all the way down to the bottom. Double jump up to the ledge, and exit through the
    door.

Kill the Mantis, and then the King Moth. Head right, and tackle the stone block. Kill two
more King Moths and Mantises, and then exit through the door on the right. Kill the
specters that appear, then fall down to the bottom left door, and enter it.

Kill the Killer Bee, then the Man Eater. Kill another killer bee, and head left and slide
through the crawlspace. Head left again, and kill yet another Killer Bee and a Man Eater.
Slide through another crawlspace, then head left and kill 2 Killer bees and a Man Eater.
Now exit through the door to the left.

Now head up the ledges, and exit to the door on the left. Climb up the crumbling platforms
to the ledge on the left, and save your game. Now exit the room through the entrance, and
climb all the way up, and enter the left room. Smash the torches for extra hearts and an
axe(if you want it) and then head left to the Boss room with the twin dragons. See the
Boss section for information on how to beat the dragons.

After they're both dead, climb up the ledges and enter the door to the right. Pick up the
Heavy Ring and go and save in that last vertical hallway. Now backtrack all the way to the
Gallery entrance(where the Eternal Corridor is). Jump up, and kill the Beast Demons and
Gorgons. Exit through the left, then kill the Skeleton Knight. Now follow the platform
your on down the ramp to the little entrance. Use the Warp point to warp to the area where
you pressed the switch to break the barricade(near the pit at the beginning of the game).
Head left, then jump to the first ledge above you. Follow that edge/ramp all the way to a
    door, and enter it.

                                   Triumph Hallway

Kill the Clinking Men, Will O' Wisp, and Skeletons. Head left, and take the lower path,
then go to the right at the bottom. Push the crate to the right, and run in that direction
and drop down through the hole in the floor.

Drop down through the middle of the ledges, and head right. Push the crate out far enough
and use it to climb to the ledge. Exit through the door on the right. In this room, tackle
the bottom stone block. This will move the two blocks move down. Now climb up there and
push it to the side and then exit through the door on the left.

Here, follow the ramps down, killing the Thunder Armors and Poltergeists. At the bottom,
enter the left room and save your game. Now exit this room through the entrance, and head
    right to exit this room.

In this room, push the highest box over until it falls to the right. Now, fall down and
tackle the block on the floor. Push the block it was blocking on top of the other one. Now
climb up and tackle the other stone block, and push it until it falls on top of the other
two. Once it does, slide through and exit this room. Here, fall all the way down, and exit
through the door on the left.

Here, climb up, and tackle the stone block. Use the crate to climb up to the higher ground,
and once you reach it, push the other crate. down. Now, push the first crate over the edge,
and then the second one. Now fall down and slide through the space, then exit the room.

Here, kill the Holy Armors and exit through the door on the left. Fall down the whole
shaft and exit through the bottom right door. In this room, head to the top right crate,
then tackle the stone block. Now push that crate over the edge and to the wall. Now, push
the crate on the bottom right next to the one that just fell. Now climb up and tackle the
two stone blocks, then push it on top on the stone block closer to the right. Now slide
through the space and exit to the left.

Head down, killing the Poltergeists and Forest Armors. Save your game in the middle-right
room, then keep heading all the way down. Head left, and enter the boss room and fight
Death. See the boss section for details on how to beat Death.

After he's dead, enter the room to the left to get the Cleansing Item. Now backtrack to
the bottom of the left side of the Abyss Stairway (to find how, read my description how to
    after beating the Machine Tower).

                                  Abyss Stairway

Climb up the ledges until you reach a platform with an axe armor. Now just exit through
the hole in the ceiling on the left side. In this room, jump up the ledges until you find
a second bonehead, and a door. Enter the door, and walk to the right(a statue was here
previously). Now you'll in the Underground Waterway.

                                Underground Waterway

Run off the platform, and fall to the water below. The Cleansing Item will make the water
non-toxic, so you can travel easily. Now jump down from that platform onto a ledge, then
jump right to a ledge floating just above the water level. Now run and jump right, and
you'll get close to another platform. You'll land in water, so just jump up, then exit
    through the right.

Here, jump to the right, and kill the Ice Armor. Hit that switch to raise the stairs so
you can continue, and head all the way to the right and hit a second switch, lowering
stairs. Climb up them, then head to the right and climb up more stairs. At the top, leap
up, and then to the right, and hit another switch to raise them. Head all the way right,
and once you reach a wall, turn and jump up to the platform on the left, and hit another
switch to lower the stairs. Drop down and head left, then follow those stairs downward.
    Exit to the right.

Kill the Ice Shade and raise the stairs. Now use the platforms above water to reach a
switch to the right. Once you've lowered the stairs, head back left and climb them. Use
ledges then to climb up, then jump to the right and cross the water again with ledges.
Then, you'll find another set of stairs leading down. Follow them, and exit right. Now
follow this hallway right, and ignore the switch. Fall down to the save point at the
bottom right, then exit the save room through it's entrance.

Now climb up the ledges until you reach a stairway on the right. Climb up it, then follow
the ledges to the right until you reach another switch. Head it, then exit to the right.
In this room, fall all the way down and run right, ignoring the ice shades. At the far
right end of the hallway, you'll hit another switch to lower the stairs again. Now run
left and climb up them. Use your double jumps and wall kicks to climb up, then head to the
right and fall underneath the lowered stairs, then continue all the way to the right to
    another room.

Fall down, and hit the switch to raise the stairs. Now climb up, and jump to the middle
opening. Head right and exit this room. Now, head up, and then all the way right. You'll
enter a room with a save point. Now leave the save room once you've saved, and fall down,
then head all the way right to face off with Camilla.

Nathan Graves: If I'm not mistaken, you were the one who resurrected Dracula.

Camilla: I am Camilla. I revived the Count.

Nathan Graves: How could you bring him back? Do you want to turn this world into hell?

Camilla: Don't you think this world is already hell? People have
become dirty creatures, who yearn for enemies and revel in chaos and power. We want to
change your world into something more appropriate... There's no great difference between
    your world and ours.

Nathan Graves: Don't be so full of yourself!

Camilla: If you'd just release the darkness hidden in your heart, you'd be able to
    experience a wonderful world.

    Nathan Graves: Shut up!

Camilla: You're just like that other boy was... He was full of integrity. The Master and I
took an interest in him... Ha ha ha!

Nathan Graves: What? What have you done to Hugh?

See the boss section for details on how to beat Camilla easily. Once you've slained the
    final blow...

Camilla: You're too late. The preparations for the ceremony are all set. We only need wait
for the full moon to rise. It's just a matter of time before the Master's full strength is
returned... Your precious master and your friend are...

    Nathan Graves: Master! Hugh!

After the fight, head right into another room to gain the Roc's Wing. You can now fly by
holding up and pressing R. Keep pressing R until you're high enough. Now, return to just
outside the save room, and fly all the way up, then jump over the ledge and exit to reach
    the Eternal Corridor.

                                Eternal Corridor

Find the warp point, and warp to the spot just near the Outer Wall.

                                  Outer Wall

Now, in the section in the Outer Wall with the Wind Armor(just appeared) use the Roc's
Wing to fly all the way up, and enter the observation tower.

                               Observation Tower

Walk left, then fly up past the ledges while killing the legions. Fly all the way up to
the top of the left side, and exit through the hole in the ceiling. Here, take the left
path and fly up, then land on the ground, head right, and take the right path(up and
right). Follow it up, then when you reach the top, head all the way right and enter the
room. Save your game, then exit through the entrance.

Now, fall down through the first gap and try to fall to the right, then exit this room.
Here, kill the Dullahans, and exit through the ceiling on the right side. In this room,
head right, and jump up and kill both shades. Follow the ledges up, then all the way to
the left, killing 2 more pairs of Shades. Exit through the door on the left. Here, run
left, then fly over the first pillar in the ground, then drop down and continue heading
left. At the dead end, fly upwards, and land on the platform. Kill the Dark Armors, then
head all the way to the right and exit the room.

Here, fall down and kill the Dark Armor. Head right, then follow the path upwards, then
left. You'll find an exit. Ignore it, and keep heading up. Kill 2 more Dark Armors and an
Evil Pillar, then exit to the left at the very top. Here, break the torches to grab some
hearts, then enter the room to the left to face...

    Hugh Baldwin: You came... Nathan.

Nathan Graves: Hugh! Thank goodness, you're all right! I'd thought for sure that...

(Hugh takes a swing at Nathan)

Nathan Graves: Hugh, what are you doing!?

Hugh Baldwin: My skill surpasses yours. I'll beat you and prove it to my father...

Nathan Graves: He's being controlled... By Camilla? No, by Dracula!!

See the boss section for details on how to beat Hugh. After the fight..

Nathan Graves: Please stop! I don't want to hurt you any further! Hugh!!

Hugh Baldwin: Nathan? Ahh, ow, I... ...Thank you... I heard you, your voice was calling to
    me...

Nathan Graves: ...Hugh. Are you all right?

Hugh Baldwin: Nathan... I was jealous of you.

    Nathan Graves: !?

Hugh Baldwin: I was afraid that there'd be no need for me, what with the attention my
father gave you. I justed wanted to be noticed...

    Nathan Graves: Enough... It's okay...

Hugh Baldwin: My father saw that darkness in my heart. So he chose you...

    Nathan Graves: Stop, Hugh.

Hugh Baldwin: It's okay. Now, even I understand that my father's choice was right. Heh...
Don't make me embarrass myself further. My Dad...
    Nathan, save our master. Please.

    Nathan Graves: All right.

After all that, head right and claim the last key, the item to open the door to the
Ceremonial Room. Now head to a warp point and warp to the place near the beginning of the
game. Open the door to the Ceremonial Room.

                                Ceremonial Room

Head right, then jump up the ledges. Once you reached the top, head left and face Dracula.

Dracula: You've done well to have struggled this far, kid. Bah!

    Nathan Graves: Mr. Baldwin!

Dracula: Perfect. The proper time for the ritual has come. I'll consume your strength as
    well as the old man's.

Nathan Graves: Oh, you think so? Mr. Baldwin! Are you all right?

Dracula: How charming, the bond between teacher and student. But that love will soon be
transformed into evil. I'd expect you possess it, too. The darkness in your heart...

Nathan Graves: What are you saying?

Dracula: To rise above everything... To accomplish all you desire...

    Nathan Graves: !

Dracula: ...To have everyone's affection... ...Wouldn't you strike down your peers for
such things? Your friend was thinking about it. I gave power to that darkness within him.

Nathan Graves: You bastard!! Toying with people's hearts! I won't allow it!

See the boss section for details on how to beat Dracula's first form. Once he's defeated...

    Dracula: Power... My full strength...

    Nathan Graves: What the!?

Morris Baldwin: Go after him! We can't let him escape! Damn...

    Nathan Graves: !!

Hugh Baldwin: I'll take care of my father. You go after Dracula!

Nathan Graves: All right. You two go on ahead and escape from the castle.

Hugh Baldwin: Beat Dracula. And, make sure you get out.

Now step into the ray of light and go to face Dracula's second form. See the boss section
for details on how to beat his second form. After the fight....

Dracula: It is a wasted effort. I will never be truely gone. So long as there is darkness
and desire in the soul of a man, I will continue to be revived.

Nathan Graves: And we wiill be there to stop you. You can count on that.

    (Castle crumbles)

    (Outside the castle)

Nathan Graves: Master, are you well?

Morris Baldwin: Nathan? Thank you. You did well. ... You have become a hunter in your own
right. Hugh, I need to thank you as well. But your training must begin anew.

Hugh Baldwin: I know father. I will train like I was reborn to become worthy. Hey Nathan,
if you become soft, I'll take over for you.

Nathan Graves: I look forward to the challenge, Hugh.

                                   THE END

Congraluations on beating the game! You must've been real good to beat the game using a
guide(snicker). Anyway, you can now start a new quest in Magician mode, the first of 4
    extra modes-happy playing!

    14) Battle Arena
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Battle Arena is an insanely tough area found later in the game. If you complete all of
it in one run, it will give you 315,722 experience points. You can reach it you need the
Heavy Ring and Roc's Wing. You can't use magic in the arena-which makes it hard. The
enemies inside are much tougher then their non-arena counter-parts, so level up to 70 or
80 before entering. Make sure you have two double-grips, needle armor, and a ton of health,
heart, and MP restoring items. When you're ready, it's time to find the Battle Arena.
Along the way, you'll acess a warp gate, so you can return quite easily.

    Preparing for the Battle Arena
    ---------------------------------

The following equipment should be found and used for the Battle Arena:

    Needle Armor
    Double Grips on Both Arms
    25 or more Potion Highs
    5 or more Potion Ex's
As many Mind Hi's and Mind Ex's as you want
    5 or more antidotes
    More then 5 cure curses
Boomberang(found right outside the first blue-bordered door)
    Level 60 or higher

    Finding the Battle Arena
    ----------------------------

                                Eternal Corridor

Follow this path right, and then to the chapel tower.

                                  Chapel Tower

Head right, then jump up through gap in the ceiling. Head right to save, then climb to the
top, while killing the Bloody Swords. At the top, go up to the next room. Fly to the top
from where you are, then head all the way left and save. Exit the save room, then head
back up. Exit this room through the ceiling. When in the next room with the thunder demon,
fly up through the hole in the ceiling. Now go left, and climb the platforms up to another
room. Now head right, then climb onto another platform and head all the way left. Jump up
to a slightly elevated platform, the fly up with Roc's Wing. Head left, then down, and
exit through the left. In the next room, head all the way up, then when on the top
platform, drop down on the left and push the box out of the way. Exit through the left. In
this next room, head all the way left, killing the hyenas and the other enemies. Exit
through the left, then in the next room, kill the grizzlies and other enemies. When the
path splits, take the lower path and activate the Warp Gate. Then exit to the previous
room, and take the upper path. In this room, fly all the way up to the first ledge, then
fall down on the left side. Quickly run to the right and enter the room through the door.
Now head up to the top ledge, and smash the torch nearest to the door to get the cross.
Now, enter the door to the right to enter the battle arena.

In this Battle Arena guide, I will list how many enemies per room, and how much experience
they give you, so you can see if you can make it through the whole thing. Bear in mind
there are emergency exits along the way that you can use to exit.

    Room One
    ----------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Were-Jaguar 1,200
    Were-Wolf 1,100

Very easy. Attack with your whip, then jump when they charge. A few shots of your whip and
    you'll be fine.

    Room Two
    ---------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Catoblepas x2 2,000
    Hippogriff x2 1,900

A bit harder. You'll have to dodge the Catoblepas's snorts on the ground, while watching
for the Hippogriff's in the air. I suggest throwing the boomering for the Catoblepas, then
dealing with the Hippogriffs with your whip.

    Room Three
    -------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Wind Demo x2 4,000
    Witch x3 1,000

Both enemies are in the air. You can try the summon trick to put on some damage here, or
just deal with them with your boomerang and whip. Again, not too hard, just a warm-up.

    Room Four
    ------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Devil Tower x12 600
    Stone Armor x3 3,000

Try to take out all the devil towers on a pillar in one jump-it will save you time. Once
the towers are dealt with, focus on the armors. Memorize their pattern, then dodge their
    attack and counterattack.

    Room Five
    ------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Skeleton x5 500
    Skeleton Bomber x5 550
    Electric Skeleton x3 700
    Skeleton Spear x4 600

Oh dear, skeletons. The ones that could give you trouble are electric skeleton and
skeleton spear, by catching you off-guard, or just landing from dodging the other's attack.
You can also fire the boomerang, and jump, letting it do it's work.

    Room Six
    -----------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Bone Tower x7 800
    Flame Demon x2 6,980

Deal with the bone towers first-they'll give you trouble while jumping and landing. After
that, it will be easy to take out the flame demons once you get their pattern down.

    Room Seven
    -------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Fox Hunter x5 600

Soooooo easy. Just slide across the whole passage. By ducking, you'll avoid their attacks.
    Just slide through them all.

    Room Eight
    ------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Bloody Sword x3 2,000
    Poison Armor x3 3,600

Throw your boomerang at the armors on the ground, then jump up and whip the bloody swords.
Use your antidotes to cure your poison status, since you can't heal in the Battle Arena.

    Room Nine
    ------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Abiondarg x24 588

Easy. Just slide through them, like the Fox Hunters. They can't attack you, so if you stay
on the offensive, you'll be fine.

    Room Ten
    ------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Legion x2 2,900
    Marionette x12 1,200

Destroy the legions first, then focus on the Marionettes. Use your boomerang, or summons
using the DSS glitch. Use cure curse since you need to atack in this room.

    Room Eleven
    --------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Minotaur x7 4,100

Toss your boomerang, then jump over the blades of the Minotaurs. Try not to take on more
then one at a time, or whenever you'll land, you'll be hit by an attack. You can also try
to summon a creature to take care of these guys.

    Room Twelve
    -------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Arachne x3 2,400
    Succubus x3

Toss the boomerang at the Arachnes to be safe and not get caught in their web. Then jump
up and use either your boomerang or whip to attack a succumbus.

    Room Thirteen
    ---------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Alraune x2 5,000
    Demon Lord x5 4,200

Stand right next to a demon lord, and it's fiery breath will not hit you. Keep attacking
untilit's destroyed. Use your boomerang for the Alraunes.

    Room Fourteen
    ---------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Hyena x8 1,000

Drop into their little "sided" conversation, and slide into both sides. If any remain,
deal with them with your whip. Try not to let them hurt you, since this is an easy room
late in the arena. You can't afford extra damage.

    Room Fifteen
    --------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Evil Pillar x12 1,500
    Devil Armor x3

Toss a boomerang at the Devil Armors, then jump in te air to attack the evil pillars and
to avoid the Devil Armor attack. If you're lucky, you might get a Black Dog card from the
Devil Armor. Repeat until all the enemies are gone, then head to the second-to-last room
    of the Battle Arena!

    Room Sixteen
    --------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    White Armor x3 7,000

Jump over their sword beams, then whip them and boomerang them. Since you'll have 3 beams
coming in, one after another, use Roc's Wing to fly to the top to dodge them all. If
you're lucky, you might snag a Unicorn card. After they're all gone, proceed to the last
    room of the Battle Arena!!!!

    Room Seventeen
    -----------------

    Enemies Exp per Each

    Devil 30,000

This is it. The Devil is one of the strongest enemies in the game. You can try and summon
to put damage on him if you're low on health, Otherwise, fly to the ceiling to avoid his
columns of purple fog, then when you come back down, throw the boomerang at him. Mainly,
you should jump and use Roc's Wing to dodge his fog attacks, while staying away and
chucking the Boomerang at him. He might kill you, which will be frusteration, since you'll
have to do the entire arena over again. Keep trying, and have patience, and you'll conquer
this beast. Finally, enter an enemy-free room.

Inside, you'll find the "Shining" Armor on a stand. Claim it. It ups your defense by 500,
slightly highers STR, and slightly lowers INT and LCK. After you have claimed that item,
exit the Battle Arena. Now high-tail it to a save point and save your game. You really
don't want to go through that all again.

    15) Max Increase Items
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Even though your hearts, MP, and HP go up along with your level and stats, there are some
Max Increase items in the game. Finding them will make your job easier, and fill up the
corresponding meter(HP, MP, or hearts) once you pick it up. So here are the locations of
all them in the game. Thanks again to Devin Morgan for letting me use these in my guide.

    Hearts Max Increase Locations
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

    Catacomb
    --------

    1. In the upper-right part of the large room north of the eastmost save room, use the
Double Magic Item to jump to the high ledges and make your way to a Hearts Max Increase.

    2. In the southmost room below the east save room (the room with the Earth Demon), go
right and slide through the low passage to find the upgrade.

    3. In the room directly across from the westmost save room (the one you need the Heavy
Ring to move the block in), push the block out of your way and defeat the enemies. You'll
find this item at the end.

    4. In the large room directly above the middle save room, enter the
second room to the right, and you'll find the upgrade there.

    Audience Room
    -------------

    5. In the large room that the western-most warp room is connected to, get to the top-left
corner of that room. Whip the left wall while standing on the top ledge to the left to
reveal a hidden room. Enter it to find your upgrade.

    6. In the large room to the right of the west save room, there is a Hearts Max Increase
item at around the middle point of the room. Reach it by jumping up ledges from the south
path, or by falling from above on the north path.

    7. In the large room below and to the right of the eastmost save room, double jump up to
the higher platforms. Make your way up and to the right to find the upgrade.

    8. In the same room as the previous one, come here with the Kick Boots and kick up the
left walls to reach the very top. Then, go right to find the reward.

    9. In the tall room above the eastmost save room, use the Roc Wing to fly straight up to
the ledge with this upgrade on it.

    10. In the tall room leading from the east exit of the Machine Tower, go down until you're
able to go right. There, use the Roc Wing to shoot all the way up to an otherwise
unreachable room. In that room, go all the way right, then use the Roc Wing to shoot up to
a high ledge. Go left and you'll find this item.

    11. In the room west of the one leading from the south entrance to Machine Tower, use the
Roc Wing to shoot up to the top of the room, where you'll find this upgrade on the ledge
    there.

    Outer Wall
    ----------

    12. In the first area where you have to jump from column to column, get to the fourth
column and jump to the right, landing on the ground below. Go right almost to the wall,
then spin your whip (hold B) to reveal a hidden room below. Drop down to it, defeat the
    enemies, and take your prize.

    Machine Tower
    -------------

    13. In the first room of this place, go all the way left and ride the moving platform
upward. Then, jump from ledge to ledge all the way to the top to find this upgrade.

    14. In the upper-left area of the tower, there's a large room with many moving platforms
and a save room connected to it on the left. Get to the upper left area of that room and
whip the wall to find a hidden room. Enter it and go downward, then fight the Earth Armor
    and take your reward.

    15. In the long room to the left of the room with the blocks you must tackle to get past,
defeat all the Stone Armors and Fox Archers to find this item at the end.

    Eternal Corridor
    ----------------

    16. In the room after the long hallway areas, go right and drop down to the lower area.
Whip the right wall and enter the hidden room you revealed. Defeat the Bone Towers and
    collect the item.

    17. In the room that the warp room is connected to, make your way down and left, then up
the other side. You'll find this item at the end of the path upward.

    Chapel Tower
    ------------

    18. In the second room of the tower with the Brain Floats to the left, head to the left
side of the room. Use the Mercury/Serpent DSS combo to freeze the Brain Floats, then use
them to reach the higher ledge. From there, kick against the walls to get to the very top,
    where you'll find this upgrade.

    19. In the bottom-left corner of the large room with the Marionettes and Bloody Swords
flying around (the room with the small opening in the bottom-left wall, coming from the
Battle Arena), kick and double jump up the walls to reach a ledge with the item on it.

    Underground Gallery
    -------------------

    20. In the first room of the Underground Gallery, go all the way left and into the
following room. Push the block away with the Heavy Ring, then continue left to find this
    item.

    21. In the same room as mentioned above, you'll find a switch on a ledge on the left side
of the room. Hit it to make a moving platform go across the track below. Quickly go down
and right, then onto the higher ledge to reach the moving platform. Ride it to the right
and slide under the wall at the end to get this item.

    Underground Warehouse
    ---------------------

    22. In the large room following the one with the first block puzzle, you'll see this item
on an unreachable ledge. Get to the upper-right side of the room and push the block you
find there to the left. Push it down all the ledges until you get to the very bottom, then
push it to the right a little bit. After pushing it, jump on it and double jump to the
    ledge with this upgrade.

    23. In the room where you first meet the Holy Armor, get to the upper-right corner of the
room. There, whip the wall to open a hidden room. Enter that room and get the item.

    24. In the tall room after the first encounter with Holy Armor, drop down to the ledge
below where you enter the room, and whip the wall to reveal a hidden room. Enter it and
defeat the enemies there, then grab your reward at the end.

    25. From the same tall room as mentioned above, drop down to the ledge below the one where
you revealed the hidden room, and go right into another room. Continue right into the
following room, then use the Roc Wing to shoot up and right to a high ledge. There, go
left and whip the wall to find another hidden room. Defeat the Holy Armor and take the
    upgrade there.

    26. In the same room as above (the large one you were in prior to entering the hidden
room), get down to the lower area and you'll have to solve a block maze. Jump to the ledge
with the left block, push it to the right, jump on it, then tackle the topmost cracked
block. Now, go back down to the lower ledge and tackle the other 3 cracked blocks. Push
the block in front of you into the pit, then get to the top ledge and push the other block
down the ledges onto the other block. Then, slide under the wall and go into another room.
There, continue right into the following room. In that room, go right and up to the top-
right corner of the room, and you'll see the upgrade there.

    Underground Waterway
    --------------------

    27. In the bottom-left corner of the first room, whip the wall and enter the hidden room.
Defeat the Frozen Shade and take your prize.
    28. In the first large room, lower the stairs, then get to the bottom-left area of the
room and into the next room. Hit the switch and come back to the previous room, then go up
and all the way left to a room you missed before. Get the HP Max Increase, then go through
the wall to find this item.

    29. In the lower-right area of the large room with the Ice Demon and Lizardmen enemies,
you'll find it at the far right of that room.

    Observation Tower
    -----------------

    30. In the first room where you meet the Evil Towers and Minotaurs, go all the way right
to the end and you'll find this item.

    31. In the second large room of this tower, get to the top of that room. Once there, whip
the left wall to reveal a hidden room. Enter it and defeat the enemy, then claim your
    prize.

    32. In the long room directly above the one with the Dark Armors, go left and defeat the
Catoblepas and Legions, then claim this upgrade at the end.

    33. In the long room that the north warp room is connected to, get onto the lower ledge on
the left. Whip the wall and enter the hidden room, then get to the upper-right area of
that room to find this item.

    Catacomb
    --------

    1. In the room directly below and to the right of the eastmost save room (it's shaped like
a backwards "L"), get to the top of the room to find the upgrade.

    2. In the same room as mentioned above, take the path above where you found the first HP
Max bottle, then kick up the walls to the top of the room. Go right and you'll find this
    one.

    3. In the bottom-left room, which is directly below the save room, double jump up the
ledges and beat the enemies. When the path splits, jump to the right ledge and then up to
another ledge. From there, you'll see several Brain Floats overhead. Use the Mercury +
Serpent DSS combo and freeze the enemies, then jump along the frozen enemies to the top of
the room, where you'll find your reward.

    4. In that tall room (the first room where you're falling for a long time), get against
the left wall and keep whipping it on your way down. About halfway down, you should reveal
a hidden room in that wall (use the Roc Wing to keep trying to find it). Get into that
room and you'll find this bottle there.

    Audience Room
    -------------
    5. From the west save room (directly to the left of the large room), take the north path
up and right into the next room. Follow the path to the right until you reach the pit.

    upgrade.

    6. From the large room down and to the right of the eastmost save room, go all the way to
the bottom of that room and go left into another room. Follow the path left to the wall,
then whip it to find a hidden room. Enter it to find the upgrade.

    7. In the large room directly to the right of the westmost save room, get to the upper-
right corner of that room. Go right into the next room, and tackle the block in your way
    to reach the bottle.

    8. In the large room down and to the right of the eastmost save room, continue right and
use the Kick Boots to get up to a higher area, then right into a new room. Go all the way
right and defeat the Skeleton Athletes (this is the only enemy you can get the Griffin DSS
Card from, by the way), then you'll find the bottle at the end.

    9. In the tall room that the westmost save room is connected to, go all the way up to the
top. Use the Roc Wing to get to the very top of the room, where you'll find this bottle on
    a ledge.

    10. In the tall room west of the one leading to the south entrance of the Machine Tower,
go down and right into the room below it. Push the block to the right with the Heavy Ring,
then go right and defeat the Thunder Demon and take the bottle.

    Outer Wall
    ----------

    11. In the east half of this area, there are many Brain Floats flying above and below each
other in a sort of line. Use the Mercury/Serpent DSS combo to freeze them and use them as
stepping stones to get all the way to the very top of the area. From there, make your way
right and down, then right again to the upgrade.

    Machine Tower
    -------------

shaped like an upside-down "L"), get to the bottom of that room to find this bottle.

    13. In the first room you encounter the Thunder Demon, get to the upper-right area of that
room. Whip the wall to open a hidden area, then enter that room and find your reward.

    14. After you get the Kick Boots Magic Item, go to the large room that the middle save
room is connected to. From there, go down and left into another room. Go left and use the
Kick Boots to go up through the room to the top, where you'll find the bottle you seek.

    Eternal Corridor
    ----------------

    15. In the large room that the warp room is connected to, get to the lower left corner of
the room. Double jump against the left wall and whip it to reveal a hidden room. Enter it
and you'll find the bottle there.

    Chapel Tower
    ------------

    16. In the long hall below the larger tower rooms, go all the way left to the next room.
Go right and defeat the enemies, then use the Roc Wing to shoot up to the top of the room,
    and you'll find the bottle.

    17. In the first large room (the one that the first save room is connected to), take the
bottom-left path to the next room. Use the Heavy Ring to push the block out of the way,
then continue left and defeat the enemies. You'll find the bottle at the end of this room.

    18. In the room above the one with the Thunder Demon and Were-panthers, kick up the right
wall when there aren't anymore ledges to jump to. Halfway up, whip the right wall to
reveal a hidden room. Enter it, defeat the Gorgon, and take the prize.

    19. In the room with the Were-bears, Hyenas, and Were-panthers around, get to the bottom-
left corner of the room. Whip the wall and enter the hidden room you revealed, then defeat
the enemies and take the bottle.

    20. In the room directly above the second save room, go left and push the block out of the
way with the Heavy Ring, then defeat the enemies and take the bottle there.

    Triumph Hallway
    ---------------

    21. In the first room of Triumph Hallway, go all the way left to the wall. Jump on the

    22. In the first room of this area, take the lower-left path to the next room. There, go
left a bit, then use the Roc Wing to shoot up to an otherwise unreachable area, then go
    right and claim this bottle.

block away with the Heavy Ring, then continue right and defeat all the enemies to find the

    25. In the tall room at the west end of the warehouse (the one after the room with the
Holy Armors), use the Roc Wing to shoot straight up to a high ledge at the top. Defeat the
Arch Demon there, then take the bottle.

    26. In the same room that Hearts Max Increase #25 is located in (view the Hearts Max
Increase list for instructions on getting to that room), get to the upper-left corner of
that room, and you'll see the bottle on the ledge there. Underground Waterway ------------
    --------

    27. This one is pretty annoying to get if you don't know what you're doing. In the first
really large room with all the switches and stuff, hit the first switch you come across to
make the stairs go up. Go right and hit another one to lower the stairs. Go up and right,
then down into the next room. There, hit the switch to flatten the steps, then go back to
the previous room. Go up and all the way left to another room. Defeat the Ice Armor and
    you'll find your reward there.

    28. In the same large room I mentioned above, get to the very top-left area of this room
and jump up the ledges to reach another room. Use the Mercury/Serpent DSS combo and freeze
the Brain Floats, then get to the top of the room and find the bottle there.

    29. In the large room to the left of the first save room, hit the switch on the ledge to
flatten the steps (if the switch is already down, don't hit it again). Then, go all the
way left to the next room and jump across the ledges. Continue left and up and to the
right into another room. There, defeat the Ice Armor and get the upgrade.

    30. From where you found the previous bottle, go left to the large room and use the Roc
Wing to get up to the flattened platform (when the switch is down). There, spin your whip
to make a hole in part of the ceiling, then jump up into a hidden room. Jump up the ledges
to the top, then defeat the Siren and take the reward.

    31. In the large room that the eastmost save room is connected to, use the Roc Wing to fly
upward. About halfway up, you'll see an opening in the left wall. Land on the ledge at
that point, then double jump to the right wall and whip it to open a hidden room. Fly back
up there and enter the room, then defeat the Wind Armor and claim the upgrade.

    Observation Tower
    -----------------

    32. In the large room connected to the first save room, go all the way down to the bottom-
right area of that room. Go right and onto the higher ledge, then whip the wall to find a
hidden room. Enter it and defeat the Minotaurs, then take this bottle at the end of the
    room.

    33. After you get through the room with the Dark Armors, go right and up along the right
side of the room. When you get towards the top of that section of the room, whip the right
wall to find a hidden room. Enter it and defeat the Dark Armor, then claim your prize.

    Ceremonial Room
    ---------------

    34. In the first room, go all the way down to the very bottom, then spin your whip so it
hits the ground, revealing a hidden room below. Enter that room and you'll find the bottle
    there.

the room and take the lower-right path to the next room. There, push the block forward and
    collect the upgrade.

until you can head into a side room to the right. There, use the Roc Wing to shoot all the
way up into another room. There, continue shooting straight up with the Roc Wing, then go
right and down and you'll find the bottle there.

    Outer Wall
    ----------

    10. In the first room of this area (the large room), get towards the middle of this room,

left area of the room. Stand against the left wall atop the second to last set of steps in
the room, whip the wall to reveal the hidden room, enter the room, and you'll find what
    you wanted.

    14. In the second room of the tower (the one with the Brain Floats flying along the left
half), use the Kick Boots to make your way up the walls on the right side of the room.
When you get to the very top, go left and you'll find it.

    15. In the first room you encounter the Marionette enemies, you'll reach a set of steps
against the left wall at the end of one of the lower ledges. Double jump to the higher
ledge, then kick up the walls to reach a higher ledge. Whip the wall and enter the hidden
room to find what you were looking for.

    16. In the tall room connected to the room with the Thunder Demon, freeze the Bloody
Swords and get to the higher ledge. From there, freeze the Brain Floats (use the
Mercury/Serpent combo) and get to the top of the room, where you'll find the bottle.

    17. In the room after the Adramelech boss room, hit the switch to destroy the statue and
enter the following room. You'll find the bottle there.

    18. In the tall room directly above the warp room, use the Roc Wing to shoot straight up
to a high ledge at the top of the room with this bottle on it.

    Underground Gallery
    -------------------

    19. In the room to the right of the long room with the Death Mantis and Harpy enemies,
defeat the Thunder Armor and collect this bottle.

    Underground Warehouse
    ---------------------

    20. From the first room of this place, take the right path to the next room. Go right and
defeat the enemies, then push the block out of your way and continue right to find the
    bottle.

    21. In the room where you first encounter the Holy Armor enemies, go up the right side of
the room first. Push the 2 blocks in the wall about halfway to the left so they stick out,
then go back down and around to the left side of the room. Jump up the ledges and use
those blocks to help you reach the top, where you'll find the upgrade.

    Underground Waterway
    --------------------

    22. In the first large room of this area, get to the top-left area of the room where there
are 2 ledges leading up to another room. Jump and whip the left wall, then enter the
hidden room you revealed to find the bottle.

    23. In the room to the left of the first save room, take the path down and left through
the water. When you get to the other side, jump onto the ledge and take the bottle.

    24. In the same room as above, from the save room, go straight up and make sure the switch
is down, then go up and left. Continue left and up to find the bottle on a ledge.

    25. In the upper-right area of the large room with the Ice Demon and several Lizardmen, go
all the way to the right and you'll find this bottle.

    Observation Tower
    -----------------

    26. In the first room, go left and up a few ledges. Jump at the left wall and whip it to
open a hidden room, and enter it to find the bottle.

    27. In the room with the Heat Shade and Frozen Shade enemies together, get to the lower-
left area of the room. Go left to another room, then defeat the Alraunes and Demon Lords
there. At the far left end of that room is this bottle.

    16) DSS Card List
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The ability of combining two cards to create a magical affect is called the Dual Set-up
System, and is new to the Castlevania series. You can mix and match any cards you want(one
Action, one Atrribute, that is) to create a new affect. Below you will find everything you
need to know about the cards.

-When using the Uranus or Apollo cards, to do the magic you must start from the bottom of
the Control Pad, then shift your thumb counter-clockwise or clockwise upwards. You msut do
this fast. When your thumb is on the Up portion of the Control Pad, hit B. So if you're
facing left, move your thumb across the control pad in this order then hit B: Down, left,
up. Simple once you get the hang of it.

-To perform the Pluto and Salamander Super Sub-Item attack, do the same as the above
    summon.

    17) FAQ
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Q: I started my game, and made some progress, and turned off my GBA. When i turned it back
    on, my file wasn't there!

A: You need to reach a save point. There's one very early in the game-look in the
    walkthrough for the location.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I can't beat [insert boss name here]! Can you help me?

A: First, try leveling up a bit with the surrounding enemies. Also, try to use DSS to find
something that will help you through that battle. If all else fails, keep trying, and
you'll be able to dodge most of the bosses' attacks and patterns.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Where do I find the [insert card name here] card?

A: Check out the DSS Card Guide right above this section. It tells you which enemy drops
    which card.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: How can I level up quickly? What enemies give the most experience?

A: You can level up quickly by beating Lilith, who gives the most experience in the game
for a non-boss: 20,000. Check below for her location. If you're in the mid-80s to 90s, you
can also just go back through the Battle Arena for tons of experience.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I reached the Underground Waterway before beating Death and getting the Cleansing Item
and saved in it! What should I do?

A: Well, many people have done this, and the game isn't very straightforward on telling
you to go to the Twin Dragons instead of Camilla. I suggest high-tailing it out of there,
cause there's almost no chance you'll make it to the next boss at your level. Go outside
the save room, kill some enemies, run back in, restore your health, then repeat. Slow and
tedious, but it might be the only way to get out of there alive.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I can't find a save room close enough to Hugh! Any suggestions?

A: First of all, I suggest being over Level 40 for the Observation Tower-perferrably 43 or
higher. Try to use the Warp Gate guarded by a Devil and a whole bunch of Legions to warp
    to a save point nearby.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: What does the Crossroads option do at the title screen? I can't access it!

A: You're not missing anything. It's the name of the Start Game screen. I think it was
pretty stupid to make it the same style as the options, don't you?

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Are there any other characters beside Nathan to play as?

A: No. The HUGHHUGH code was proved a hoax, and even completing all 5 modes won't grant
    you a new character.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I'm missing some parts of my map! Where are they?

A: Well, they might be the battle arena-if you haven't gone totally through it yet. Also,
whip walls at weird places to open a secret entrance to a new room.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Are there any codes for this game?

A: yes, in a way. Check below for them. They open up new modes, not give you invincibility,
all weapons, etc. Sorry, but those kind of codes aren't in the game. Tough luck, cheaters.

Start with 250 hearts, can pick up two daggers to make a homing dagger.

    Unlock Thief Mode
    --------------------

To unnlock thief mode, beat the game on Shooter mode and start a new file with the name,
"DAGGER". You'll start with dropped STR, DEF, and INT, and jacked up LCK.

    Beginning Stats:

    STR-71
    DEF-50
    INT-100
    LCK-1600
    HP-50
    MP-50

    Lilith
    ----------

Lilith(not the one from Frasier) is a strong demon in the Underground Warehouse who gives
you 20,000 exp every time you kill her-the most in the game for a non-boss enemy. To find
her, beat Camilla, then return to the long, vertical hallway with succumbus' flying around.
Under the ledge of the top exit, jump down, then whip the wall. Inside is Lilith. Use a
summon on her to defeat her(usually 2 summons at a weaker level).

    Skeleton Medalist
    --------------------

The skeleton medalist is an insanely fast creature that drops two of the rarest items in
the game: the Toy Ring and the Bear Ring. The Bear Ring will transform you into a bear if
you use the Pluto + Black Dog combo while wearing it. To find the Skeleton Medalist, ge
the Roc's Wing, then fall down the pit at the beginning of the game. Keep whipping the
wall on the left side until you break open a part. Use Roc's Wing to fly up to it, then
jump up and whip the ceiling while inside. Now equip Pluto + Griffon to increase your
speed, and use roc's wing to fly up through the gap. Land on the other side of the raised
platform to the left of you, then use your increased speed to kill the medalist. Repeat
until you have the items you need.

    Use Magic in Battle Arena
    ----------------------------

To use this, you must have a Mind High or Mind Ex in your possession. While in any
room(perferrably a room with many enemies-or the Devil) use your Mind Ex, then exit the
menus, activate DSS, then summon a creature(Thunderbird or Cockatrice). If you did it fast
enough, the creature will appear and wipe out the enemies on the screen(or damage them).
