"The Launch Title... Success is warrant!"
Mario Advance was the first game that I played on the Game Boy Advance, and it introduced me to the great machine. Then later on I played a couple of other well known GBA titles and I realised that Super Mario Advance is an oustanding title, which uses the full capabilities of the Game Boy Advance.
There are two classic NES and SNES Mario titles on the one cart, which gives you the opportunity to when bored with one title take a refresher with the other title. Both games are quite unique so I decided to do a small review on both of them.
Super Mario Brothers 2
This Super Nintendo title has been successfully coverted onto the Game Boy advance. It will emerse you from the word go, for the gameplay is so addictive you won't be able take in the outside world. The great gameplay is due to many reasons. One, because of the orginial Mario gameplay, and two, because of the quite exciting action.
Although the action seems on the dull side, it provides, in actual fact a very substansial amount. When grabbing a giant turnip and hurling it at twenty opponents results in some fast and furious action. This is an example of the best of the best, although there are many more startling features like that that will suprise you.
The graphics are very well presented. Most probably not the games strong point, it still gives it the very all-rounded approach. As in the 2D affect, gamers could be mistaken for thinking this is pathetic graphics. In actual fact this is in no way the case, for the background and foreground are so detailed it is a revolution that you have to see to believe.
The sound is unbelieveable. From starting your game you will be emersed by Mario's gang remarking comments. The music is just as good, played be real instruments (not digital music as it may seem) the music sets the pace.
The game is basically about Mario and a dream. He dreamt that he was in a mysterious land over-run by enemies. The next day he and his friends went for a picnic, and they found themselves in Mario's dream. Soon enough they found out that the land was laided with evil due to the vegetable detestable King Wart. In typical Mario fashion they set out to save the land and encounter many enemies which they pick up and throw at other enemies while collecting power-ups out of the ground.
In all Super Mario Brothers 3, on the Game Boy Advance is a very good buy.
Mario Brothers Classic, and Mario Brother Battle
This game is very basic the controls are the regular Mario controls. The graphics very regular, and your basic aim is to paralyze your opponents and then finish them off, while passing through the many levels. The sound is regular, and so is the gameplay.
The real fun starts when you link up two GBAs and play battle. This is very similar to an all out slugfest. Paralyzing your opponents in the same style as in classic either collect the coins before anyone else does, or throw each other hilariously into the rubbish bin.
Mario Brothers Classic does not offer much, but when you chug battle up there is no looking back!
Super Mario Advance is the best GBA game on the market today!
