"The Golden One"
In this game you’re a young boy by the name of Isaac, your chronicle starts out in your hometown Vale. An appalling accident happens when you’re woken up by your mother to get out of your house because of the gargantuan rock about to fall on your town. You progress through and meet new people and still at the beginning you find out about your psychological powers called Psyenergy which you use through out the game. You also get these petite monsters called Djinni that came from the four holy stones your town was guarding. These petite creatures assist you during battle and help your status to increase. If anyone hasn’t played this game it is definitely a praiseworthy game. Its worth all the money and the time it takes to beat it, it’s a very outgoing classical RPG. Also suggesting this, try the other golden sun that has been released. Enjoy your reading cause I worked hard on it.
The graphics like usual, classical Super Nintendo style still is the paramount graphics. This game shows pleasant detail in the summonings and the magic. Although some of the magic is either bigger or repetitive over and over to make it look enhanced. The summoning's are definitely tremendous; they sparkle the whole screen so if that doesn’t get your attention then I don't know what will. The details in the characters a done fabulously, you can actually see there faces and there clothing is detailed also. The towns have there own particular details, which are done very adequately, the people you correlate with are in depth just as well as your characters unlike some games, so that always helps when you’re all the same type of graphic. The world map is probably the only thing in the game that doesn’t look the best, only because when you move around on the map the towns and sites moves and it kind of gets confusing at first, because it seems as if the towns are going away from you, but I’m sure after a while you can get past that and not have any confusion. You will notice as your progress throughout the game that the details grow more impressive within each town or dungeon you go to. One reason is because you have made it to a new area and there is more to be detailed. Secondly as you grow into the game you meet new people and it is very dull when you go to a new town and the characters you meet look the same as last time you saw them so its good to make sure they are dissimilar looking that the ones before them. And finally it is because there are more things to find and harder puzzles so they need to take the graphics to an extreme. Else wise the graphics are extravagant and deserve 10 out of 10.
The story definitely deserves a perfect 10. The story fits everything. Basically once you start the story it’s very hard to stop playing its very entertaining. It has serious times but also has its humor to make it more energetic than dull. The characters play a major roll evidently, the central characters name is Isaac and he is a kid living in the town of Vale. He was enjoying a nap when all the sudden a rock is menacing his town. He has to help rescue his friends and family. The other chief characters are as follows: Garet which you meet at the introduction, Mia whom you find in a small town, also has a dormant power such as yours. Ivan whom you find out is also able to use the same powers as you. They are the four main characters to use through out the entire game and they all meet together cause of there distinctive power called the Psyenergy. It can be used in different ways and it connects them all together by their family history of a certain idealizing. They all can use there specially energy to help them get through the hole game, it is useful. Of course you have the classical key item called an enemy in the game. They are two menaces you run into periodically and you will learn become a hassle for your advancement throughout the game. Even if you do get tired of the story just take a break cause the story is an essential item to the game in order to keep you hooked when it comes to RPG’s. While knowing this be sure to pay attention to everything they say cause one missed sentence could throw you off and end up not know what your suppose to do next. They have a tendency to even this story out with the game play even though there might be more game play the story will back you up when you’ve grown weary of fighting or leveling up. So that’s where the story will come useful for your benefit.
Game play 10/10
The game play is really fun in this form of a game. The battle system is the classical you hit me I’ll hit you back. The active time battle becomes very useful when you can speed up your battles, even though you’re already attacking fast. Having this ability makes your battles a lot faster so you don’t grow impatient with the battles. Magic followed by summoning also ads more stimulation to the battles. Because you don’t know what your learning next and the next magical spell or summon always looks superior to the first. The only things poor about the buttons are if you hit the A button when you’re just walking the button pops up the same menu you get from pressing the select button. And when you’re trying to search for hidden items it can get a tad annoying. The leveling up is fun because most of the time training isn’t essential since you battle a lot in certain places so you get leveled up quickly. But do make sure you level up even if you think your doing good you never know when a boss may come around and you’re not leveled up enough to beat him. Make sure you level level level up and show that boss whose boss. Money is a big issue on this game if you use a guide or if you can tell if another town is coming up save your money because you could end up wasting your money then in the next town you can just have bought a improved item and not had to waste it on something not worth it. Because later on in the game you can get items that are defined as artifacts which can take a lot of your money you might have been saving up. Even though it does take a large number of money to get one of these items it still can help out your party in a major way. The controls are easy though its just the A button basically does everything for you and the B button cancels most things, the start button brings up the menu to save and other options, select brings up the menu for your status, Psyenergy, Djini. And the L and R buttons are used to move to the next page.
Sound is a very essential aspect to the game and this game has fantastic sound effects and music. In a lot of places you'll notice some music is similar or it’s just the same music you heard before. Even with the songs being the same I guess that if you enjoy the music if you go to a place later on that has the same music you wont have to worry and be like well hey I miss that music because it will be lying dormant in another town somewhere. I'm sure that with a big of an RPG as this that they didn’t either have enough time to make more music or they were satisfied with what they had made. Both ways it is still a piece of work and they have done a good job at making the soundtrack for this game. In a good number of games that could be annoying, but this game has been properly added with beautiful music, it’s no Nobuo Ematsu work though, but that’s reasonable. The best sound in the game has to be when you talk to people it makes a funny noise with the scrolling of the dialog. They basically got everything making a noise that’s needed to in this game from doors to people talking. Another funny thing about noises to look out for is when you find a new Djinni they have funny graphics when they join and the sound that goes with it is rather hilarious. The best part though is the towns they have the greatest music, and even the battle music is good, it changes when you have a normal battle to a boss battle and that’s always a plus. Knowing that the same music will happen again it would get boring. But this game has a wide variety of funny sounds to beautiful music. And if the company makes a soundtrack, then go out and buy it, its worth all the pennies. So in conclusion the sound and music is a well deserved 10 out of 10.
Game play 10/10
Final overview 10/10
This game is definitely worth your money people so if you have not played this or want to play it scrounge it from a friend like I did or go out and buy it. Golden sun is one of the preeminent RPG’s out there for GBA so if you’re an RPG individual like me this game is for you. Even if you don’t like the game then I'm sure that there are others out there for you but I highly suggest that you go out and get this game in any way you can to at least try it out first. Playing this game will change your aspect on how you look on RPG’s because it’s that immense. You should be able to play this game and enjoy with your entire valor and hopefully have enough entertainment with it to make it through the game to beat it and get the next golden sun to figure out how the story shall continue on. Knowing all that I've told you I hope that you enjoyed the reading and why do you go out and enjoy this game on your free time.
