Review by Mike Truitt

"Tony Invades GBA!!!"

Tony Hawk is back and in your face. Pulling off insane combos that extend into the millions, and a massive choice of skaters and levels. Rails, quarter pipes, buildings, a raging bull, and just about everything that you can imagine has been put into this game. There is something about this series that makes you feel like you have been playing perfection.

PROS:
1. Tons of levels for you to master your skills on.
2. High scores are easy to get, but not impossible
3. Just about anything else about this game.

CONS:
1. You will hate it when you fall down right as you are busting out a huge combo.

GRAPHICS: 9/10
Unlike the Playstation, Dreamcast and PC versions, the graphics are not perfect, but they still are great. In most sports games, the collisions can be a bit off and the graphics can be a bit choppy, but this game seems to throw off these stereotypes with smooth graphics, even when you fall.

MUSIC: 10/10
The music in this game is awesome!!! With such bands as Rage Against the Machine singing Guerrilla Radio, or Powerman 5000's When Worlds Collide, this is just a great sound track. In my opinion, it would probably be in the top five sound tracks of all time. Punk rock music at its best, and only punk rock music can be played in skating games, other wise it just would not be right. If you want a game with great music, play this game.

SOUND EFFECTS: 9/10
The sound effects in this game are pretty good. Personally my favorite is when you are in Skate Heaven and you jump off of everything and you hear a heavenly voice telling you that ''You Suck''. It is also pretty funny when you jump off of the island and you can hear your guy screaming. Other than that I really did not pay attention to the sound effect because I usually have the music playing too loud to hear anything else.

CONTROLS: 10/10
The controls in this game are somewhat simple. It would be easier if there were more buttons to press, but there are not so you will have to just deal with it or get a different version of the game. Still, once you have the controls down, they are pretty easy. The hardest part is balancing when you are near the end of a huge combo, or when you are trying to pull off some quick trick right after one another.

GAME PLAY: 10/10
The game play is great, this is with out a doubt one of the funnest games for the Game Boy System. It does not matter what kind of games that you like you will like this game. I have a friend that only plays horror type games, and when he played this he love it. If you already love skating games, this will quickly become one of your favorite games of all time. Either way this is a great game to play at any time.

REPLAY VALUE: 10/10
No matter who you are once you beat the game you will want to play it non stop. Especially once you start seeing some of the huge combos come in, you will spend hours just trying to get a score higher than your previous one, then you will go onto the next level for the whole process to begin again. There is a seemingly endless amount of replay value for this game.

STORY LINE: 6/10
There really is not a story line for this game, the main idea is to get high scores. You start off with one level, and will be assigned some challenges, once you complete then you will go on to the next level where you will be assigned a new set of challenges, after you complete those you will go onto a competition. At the competitions it is the best two out of three run where you try to score the highest possible score in one minute. All of this time you will be earning money to make you stats higher and to buy better tricks.

ENDING: 6/10
There really is no ending to this game, I don't want to give anything away, but if you are expecting a huge Final Fantasy VII like ending, then you will be disappointed, but if you were, then you are not too smart because it is a sports game.

CHEATS: 10/10
I would go as far as saying the cheats for this game are the greatest for any game on any system, they allow you to do things that were never expected in a skating game. You can hover around like you have a jet pack on. Or you could fly away like there is no gravity at all. There is also an option that turn everything into wires, but my personal favorite is the one that, if you put it in enough, you skater will be the size of the whole level, and he can also be see through except for a few body parts. The cheats in this game are perfection.

CHALLENGE: 10/10
This game is really simple, but there is a huge challenge. Weather you are into getting huge combos that can get into the millions, or into runs that can reach into the tens of millions, it is challenging. I do not care who you are, this game was challenging at one time, and still continues to have a degree of difficulty now.

ORIGINALITY: 8/10
There really is not too much to be original in this game. The only major thing to do that is original is make new and fun levels in the game, and they have done this successfully. There is also hundred of tricks that can be equipped onto any skater that you want them to be. This is probably the most original that it could be.

BUY RENT?:
You should defiantly buy this game once you get the opportunity to. You will not be disappointed when you start to play the game, you also will no feel ripped off after you get this game. If you want you can rent it first, but I would recommend just buying it and playing it.
