Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2
Review by iammaxhailme
"You know what I'd like to do with this game? Punch it. It's a boxing game, get it? lolol...ok, that was bad."
Sports games are usually just not very good on portables. The DS and PSP might change that now, but GBA and those generation systems didn't cut it.
No story section necessary.
Gameplay: 2/10
The most important thing in a video game is that it's fun to play, right? Well, this game's really boring. All you can do, pretty much, is walk around the ring, punch, and charge a punch so you can punch harder, but this isn't a really good idea, because it leaves you really vulnerable. So basically, you can walk and punch. Ooh, fun. Not.
There's a kind of career mode where you can win tournaments and stuff for cash and reputation. To train, you'll need to take steroids, punch inanimate objects, run laps, etc. It's really boring, actually. Also, the worst thing is that it uses that stupid password saving system! We all hate that. To save, you have to remember your password and type it in when you start the game next time, or preferably write it down somewhere because it's pretty long.
There are a few different characters with small backstories which usually consist of not being great shakes at school so they became sports. Some characters are fast, some are strong, some can last for a long time, etc. What you'd expect. There's this secret character called the rumble man, which is the ref in disguise, and he has almost perfect stats. Also appearing as secret characters are Michael Jackson, who does the moonwalk everywhere, and Shaquille O'Neal, whose height is extremely overdone. He's not that tall!.
Graphics: 3/10
The graphics are pretty standard. Nothing special. Just people's sprites moving around and unidentifiable blurs in the crowd, which kind of annoys me. But whatever, it doesn't really matter. Most of the characters have off physical features. For example, Eddie, the black guy on the box, has a huge afro and bad teeth.
Music/SFX: 3/10
There isn't much. Besides the annoying cheers from the crowd, the ref says "Let's get ready to rummmmble!" at the beginning, and after that, there's punch sounds and such.
