Version 0.1 "GOLD"

Guide started out. Just joined GameFaqs so I could write this guide. I'll be
writing more Bandicoot stuff as well. Did the shell of the guide. Try to update
as soon as possible.

Version 1.0 "SILVER"
Complete guide finished. No editing at this point.

3.0 Story
===============================================================================

As quoted from the instruction manual:

On board a mysterious space station and orbiting high above planet Earth, Cort-
ex is putting the finishing touches on his latest and greatest achievement: A
shrinking ray of global proportions, this diabolical tool will literally allow
him to minimize the planet to a size barely larger than a grapefruit! The Plan-
etary Minister is linked to crystals and gems strategically placed in various
locales around the world. When executed, the ray will effectively shrink every-
thing, even the Earth! It is a true work of genius, as evil as it may be.

Finally, this time has arrived, and he's done it! A massive bolt jolts across
space in a blue arc, enveloping the planet and shrinking it to only a few yards
across.

Has Cortex finally won?

6.0 Walkthrough
===============================================================================

You are about to begin Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure. Some tips to keep
in mind if you don't want to follow the walkthrough step by step:

- If you can't get all the boxes in one area, come back after you have defeated
a couple of bosses - you'll have special powers (eg. Double Jump) and you'll
find it a lot easier.

- Always search every nook and cranny of a level, as in many instances, you'll
find a secret crate somewhere.

- Press R + A to get that extra push during a jump if you can't quite make it
over a ledge.

- On a spring box, hold down A for a second before jumping to get a little more
push.

- Save frequently - there's no harm in doing it.

Enjoy!

6.1 Boxes
===============================================================================

As they are listed in order of appearance, pick a box from the list below and
use find if you are having trouble locating it.

! Box
Aku Aku Crate
Bouncy Crate
Breakable Spring
Checkpoint Box
Flash Crate
Health Crate
Iron Box
Iron Crate
Life Box
Mystery Crate
Nitro Box
Nitro ! Box
Normal Crate
Outline Box
Spring Box
TNT Box

NORMAL CRATE
A brown crate with no emblem on it. Can sometimes give you wumpa fruit. 100 wu-
mpa fruit will give you an extra life.

MYSTERY CRATE
A brown crate with a question mark on it. Can have any item in it.

BOUNCY CRATE
A brown crate with lines down it. Jump on it to collect wumpa fruit. After five
jumps it breaks. Can be sometimes used in gaps, so try to master not falling in
them.

CHECKPOINT BOX
If you die, you'll restart for the checkpoint box (if you break it, that is).

SPRING BOX
An iron box with an arrow pointing up on it. Bounce on it to jump high. Hold A
to jump even higher.

LIFE CRATE
A box with a picture of Crash on it. Gives you an extra life.

IRON BOX
A solid box that you can land and rest on.

AKU AKU CRATE
Break to get an Aku Aku protective mask.

FLASH CRATE
Flashes different pictures of other crates. If you spin the flash crate while
it is showing a picture of a Life Crate, for instance, you will gain the
effect of that crate. However - if you wait too long, the crate will turn to
iron and will become unbreakable, meaning you will not be able to get the point
for the clear gem. Be quick!

TNT BOX
TNT boxes can be activated by bouncing on them. They then give you a three sec-
ond countdown before they blow up every crate or creature within a close vicin-
ity of it. They can also blow up crates through iron boxes! If you spin it, it
will blow up on you so watch it.

BREAKABLE SPRING
Just like the iron spring box but breakable. Adds towards your box count so
don't forget to break it before you continue.

NITRO BOX
Ahead of you, you'll see a nitro box. These boxes are dangerous as they will
blow you up if you touch them. They have a crate count, but don't worry, if you
get to the end you'll find a special box that detonates all the nitro boxes
when you're out of way's harm.

OUTLINE BOX
An outline box is a box that will be there once you activate it with a ! box.
Outline boxes can be sly because in most instances they cover up another box
with iron and don't let you to get to it. However, an outline box will always
be needed. The safest thing to do is to look ahead in the level if you can and
to see if the outline box will trap a normal crate, for instance.

! BOX
The ! BOX is an iron crate with a ! emblem on it. It will activate a specific
number of outline boxes.

NITRO ! BOX
Does the opposite of the outline box - destroys all nitro boxes in the level,
including the bonus level.

IRON CRATE
Crate reinforced with iron bars. Can only be broken using a body slam.

HEALTH CRATE
The Health Crate is instantly recognizable because its parachute has a red cro-
ss on it. You must hit the box and not the balloon. If you hit the balloon you-
'll miss out on the health bonus. Appears only in Cloud Nine (Rocket Levels).

===============================================================================
6.1A Items
===============================================================================

As they are listed in order of appearance, pick an item from the list below
and use find if you are having trouble locating it.

Aku Aku
Bonus Platform
Clear Gem
Crystal
Ending Platform
Time Trial Relic
Wumpa Fruit

WUMPA FRUIT
Collecting 100 of these juicy wumpa fruits will give you an extra life. Press
SELECT to view your HUD. Spinning the wumpa fruit makes you lose it.

BONUS PLATFORM
Takes you to a special bonus round.

ENDING PLATFORM
Ends the bonus round/current level.

AKU AKU
A protecting mask that will protect you from a blast or an animal attack. It
will not protect you if you fall in a pit or a gap. After loosing seven lives
you will get a free Aku Aku (the game pities you). You can get two Aku Akus
(at which point the mask turns golden), but once you get three Aku Akus you'll
have a short period of invincibility in which only falling into a pit can and
on lava (or water) can kill you. Abuse this ability. The downside of the invin-
cible Aku Aku is that it destroys everything, even crates, allowing you not to
bounce on them. Choose when you use it.

CRYSTAL
You need to collect this to finish the level. Don't worry, it's not really hard
to find. It's usually smack bang in your face near the end.

CLEAR GEM
You earn this when you have cracked/activated all the boxes.

TIME TRIAL RELIC
Sapphire, Gold and Platinum. Beat each level with a fast time to gain theme.
Critical to the percentage.

===============================================================================
6.2 Enemies

CARNIVEROUS PLANT Difficulty Level: 4-5
Tall plant with a purple mouth. If you approach it and wait it will try to bite
you. The easiest method to be it is to be quick and spin or jump on it.
Appears in: Mayan Jungle

PURPLE LIZARD Difficulty Level: 2
Short and purple. It crawls across the ground. Spin/jump/slide to kill.
Appears in: Mayan Jungle

PUFFER FISH Difficulty Level: 4
Red. Blows out its spikes after a duration of time. Can deal a damaging blow.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

SPIKED BUOY Difficulty Level: 4
Yellow with red spikes. Will follow you to try and block off your path. Use A
to swim quickly around it.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

SHARK Difficulty Level: 1
Looks like a shark. Swims in a straight line. Is very easy to dodge.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

GIANT EEL Difficulty Level: 5
Green, lunges out of a hole to bite you. If you time it right you can swim aro-
und them, but it is easier to be brave and to eliminate them by spinning.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

VULTURE Difficulty Level: 6
Any vulture above you is ferocious, and needs skill to get past it. Jump forwa-
rd when in close proximity to land on it or to jump over it. The vulture is
grey purple, and although dangerous if you don't time it right, in some
instances it can even help you if you land on it to jump to a higher platform.
Appears in: Mayan Jungle

PENGUIN Difficulty Level: 2
Easy little creature. Keep away from it when it's spinning. Easy to dodge or to
spin away.
Appears in: Arctic Cavern

SEAL Difficulty Level: 2
Slides down in a line down the slope, sometimes in groups. Just jump over them
to dodge them.
Appears in: Arctic Cavern

FAT MOUSE Difficulty Level: 1
Fat mouse that its only defence is moving. Spin, slide, jump, do whatever, just
get rid of it! Its wobbling is mesmerizing!
Appears in: Underground Sewer

SHIRT Difficulty Level: 1
Another useless creature in the sewer. Worse than the fat mouse.
Appears in: Underground Sewer

FIGHTER PILOT Difficulty Level: 6
A difficult enemy unless you know how to deal with them. A shot from one of th-
em deducts 2% off your health, but a group of them can do a lot more.

"Try to move Crash around the screen using the directional pad.
If you keep on moving him in a clockwise direction, the fighter
pilot's bullets will miss. This is a good strategy for any ene-
      my on the jetpack levels..."
                                                       - crashman562

Appears in: Cloud Nine (Rocket)

BLIMP Difficulty Level: 6
While they might not appear difficult, the blimp can be a mixed bag. They can
fire energy shots and normal shots and it can be hard to notice when they are
actually hurting you. To damage the blimp, you must fire at the image of Corte-
x.
Appears in: Cloud Nine (Rocket)

KAMIKAZE PILOT Difficulty Level: 4
Same as the fighter pilot but with two exceptions: he cannot fire at you, but
he flies straight at you carrying a large bomb. Easy to dodge but it can catch
you by suprise.
Appears in: Cloud Nine (Rocket)

HANGING FLAMETHROWER... Difficulty Level: 6
Hangs from railings and shoots flames at you with long intervals in between.
When he isn't shooting flames, proceed forward and spin him to his death. Wears
a white coat.
Appears in: Underground Sewers

RAIL MINE Difficulty Level: 4
Hangs from rails and patrols them. Indestructible. Dodge or use invincible mas-
k.
Appears in: Underground Sewers

JELLYFISH Difficulty Level: 2
Occasionally moves but has no special attacks. Pink colored.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

SPIKED LIZARD Difficulty Level: 3
Green and can be deadly if not handled right. Slide to eliminate. Can be very
annoying. For some reason walks up-right.
Appears in: Mayan Jungle

POLAR BEAR Difficulty Level: 4
Large and white. Has a gaping mouth and jaw (for some reason). Spin to elimina-
te.
Appears in: Arctic Cavern

UFO Difficulty Level: 4
UFO that hovers over the ground. Sends electrical currents charging down below
it. Jump-spin to eliminate.
Appears in: Cortex's Space Station

SPACE CLAM Difficulty Level: 5
When the space clam is bear it sends out its spikes and is basically rendered
immobile. The only way to kill it is to spin it when it has its shell on. Exce-
rsise extreme caution.
Appears in: Cortex's Space Station

BLOW DART NATIVE Difficulty Level: 5
A native who fires a blow dart. Can fire surprisingly fast - always be on your
guard!
Appears in: Mayan Jungle

FLOOR SPIDER Difficulty Level: 4
The floor spider is a spider-like creature that seems to be cleaning the floor.
When it has its legs extended you can only ex-communicate it by jumping it.
When it has its legs drawn up, sliding and spinning is acceptable. Just think
when attacking this monstrosity and you should be okay.
Appears in: Cortex's Space Station

ELECTRIC EELS Difficulty Level: 3
Green. Do not spin when it charges electricity. As long as you keep your dista-
nce you'll be fine.
Appears in: Underwater Ruins

FROG Difficulty Level: 5
Green. Jumps around and is very annoying. Don't try to hit it on the head, just
spin it for a quick defeat.
Appears in: Underground Sewers

\ Dingodile is no exception. The boss fight takes place underwater, with spik-/

\ causing them to fall on top of you. Since Dingodile has a forcefield, it is /
/ a matter of patience. Wait until Dingodile accidentlly fires a bullet at a \
\ spike directly above him on one side of the screen. The spike will fall on /

\ gy bombs they fire. Make sure you keep an eye out and dodge! /
/ \
\ Aircraft Deposit: 10-14 Hits /
/ The Aircraft Deposit is by far the most annoying boss in the whole game. Wh-\
\ en N. Gin begins to deploy the bombs he will swerve all around the screen. /
/ If that wasn't enough, most of the time the Aircraft Deposit will spew out \
\ so many bombs that you'll end up hitting them instead of the Aircraft Depos-/
/ it. Use patience and every single time before N. Gin temporarily retreats \
\ you should get a hit in if you were even aiming at him correctly in the fir-/
/ st place. \
\ /
/ Energy Wing (Left/Right): 10-12 Hits \
\ The final energy wing is a bit harder because N. Gin will continue to swerv-/
/ e. However, it should not pose as much of a problem and when you destroy all\
\ of his weapons, N. Gin will go down and you will fly off into the horizon. /
/ \

\ BOSS THREE: TINY /

\ Tiny can suprisingly be quite a challenge, but follow this and you should be/
/ okay. There are five platforms on the screen. Tiny will jump from platform \
\ to platform, chasing you. If he lands on you, you join the millions of dece-/
/ ased bandicoots of the world. \
\ /
/ Keep on alternating between the two to the side of the high platform and the\
\ on under it. Keep on jumping but don't jump to early, or else there's a cha-/
/ nce that he'll nail you. Once he's finished bouncing (bouncy, bouncy, bounc-\
\ y) he'll lose his breath and that's your chance to spin him. /
/ \
\ After you've attacked him, you need to move. He'll jump onto the trees and /
/ after a few seconds will fall (hopefully on the far left one if you jump in \
\ that direction) down onto a platform which so much force that it will crump-/
/ le into a heap and will disappear. \
\ /
/ Continue on spinning and repeat the cycle until he runs away like a little, \
\ Tiny, girl. /

\ BOSS FOUR: NEO CORTEX /
/ \
\ Neo Cortex is relatively easy but it can be a bit confusing. He has a laser /
/ rifle and fires it at you from side to side. After he's gone from right to \
\ left and back from left to right the security disks above you will go green./
/ \
\ What you then have to do is to jump up onto one. He'll lock on to Crash and /
/ will power up a shot (his crosshair will go red). Just before he fires (you'\
\ get used to the rhythm after a while) jump out of the way and a gem behind /
/ you will be pulvarized, taking a chomp out of Cortex's life bar. \
\ /
/ That's basically they way the whole battle goes. To get to the security dis-\
\ ks left and right you need to jump on the middle one and from there access /
/ them. \

Level Thirteen: Sunken City [Underwater Ruins]
Go through the level as normal, taking care of the enemies. About halfway y-
ou will encounter a ! box. Backtrack all the way back to the starting point
and you will see a whole lot of iron crates with a green gem inside. Hit the
TNT on the outside. It will explode, setting off the TNTs on the inside as
well (which will free you to get the green gem).

Level Eight: Just Hangin' [Underground Sewers]
The gem path is right at the end. Double jump tornado spin past the ending
platform to reach it. Collect all crates in this level to get the clear gem
(there are crates in the gem path as well).

Move forward, getting rid of the frog and the six crates. Continue on hangi-
ng. The rail mines can really get in the way, but it just needs patience.
When you hang on the long rail, you'll see one low crate followed by two. Go
a little bit to the left of it and drop. You'll land on a bouncy crate. Go
a little bit left after you destroy it as well and you'll land on another
one. You should be able to see the tips of the next crates and take care of

Follow the wumpa trail and spin the carniverous plant. Ride the platforms

Advance forward and destroy the normal crate and the mystery crate. Juice the
bouncy crate, spin away the purple lizard and run up the hill collecting the
wumpa. Destroy the two crates piled on top of each other (spinning is the easi-

You'll see ahead of you a crate with wumpa fruit leading down to another crate.
Use the practice and try to collect all the wumpa as you bounce from one crate

will be brought back to that point - just like every other platform game ev-
er made.

Jump across the platforms and jump in the Bouncy Box Sandwich. You will bounce
from one box to another, collecting all the fruit. Get rid of the purple lizard
and jump onto the bonus platform!

Your first bonus round! Move forward and destroy the six crates. Move direc-
tly under the brown box and jump up to destroy it. Jump in the Bouncy Box
Sandwich and continue on. Collect all the wumpa and break all the six boxes.
Jump on the spring box to break the life box, and continue on collecting the
wumpa until the ending platform.
\ /
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

After finishing it, jump on the bonus platform (now ineffective) and leap to
get the brown crate. Bounce on from it to land on the iron crate. Once on the
iron crate jump up to get the half concealed life crate. Jump off and run down
the hill. Eliminate the purple lizard and continue up the hill. Jump up around
the iron crate and spring boxes, making it to the checkpoint box.

Jump up and get the Aku Aku crate, earning one Aku Aku. Jump up and spin the
Carniverous Plant. Continue down and get the crates. Nail the next Carniverous
Plant and break the four crates.

Jump between the platforms and gain the crystal. Notice the little bit of the
iron crate showing in the gap. Break the plain crate and the Life Crate, and
you will bounce on to the spring box. If you need a little extra push to get
out of the pit, hold A and then jump.

Move forward and break the mystery crate. You will meet your first Flash Crate.
This crate will flash different picture of other crates. If you spin the flash
crate while it is showing a picture of a Life Crate, for instance, you will
gain the effect of that crate. However - if you wait too long, the crate will
turn to iron and will become unbreakable, meaning you will not be able to get
the point for the clear gem. Be quick!

Nail the two other crates and continue on. If you have followed every step, you
will have gained the clear gem on top of the finishing platform!

the life crate. Navigate the iron boxes (this is the crucial point) and con-

Move forward and break the seven boxes. Watch out for the puffer fish and go
under it. Never attack it when its spikes are out! Break the next crates and
proceed forward, watching out for the spiked buoy.

Carry on and destroy the six crates. Dodge the three puffer fish and nail the
checkpoint box. Watch out for the shark as he patrols the four crates. Carry on
and use your skills to dodge the spiked buoy - the easiest way to avoid the
shark is to time it well and spin it. Break the four crates and watch out for
the spiked buoy.

Guarding the passage down that you can see are giant eels. If you time it right
it is possible to swim around them but it is easier to be brave and spin throu-
gh the whole passage. Dodge the puffer fish as you emerge and flatten the
checkpoint box.

Spin the sharks and move up spinning the crates. Keep on dodging the enemies
(puffer fish, iron buoys) as you destroy the crates and claim the life box.

Navigate through the spikes (they can't hurt you) and get the next checkpoint.
Get the mystery crate at move up the passage with the eels, avoiding them
again.
Collect the crystal and break the eight crates while keeping an eye on the sha-
rk.

If the spiked buoy is near the two crates at the end, spin and then quickly pr-
ess right to break them. Dodge them and the puffer fish at the end to clear the
level!

------------------------------
Some levels have a second clear gem. You can only get them once you get a
colored gem in a later level. See the Secret Gems section above for more
information.

Start by going forward breaking the three crates and killing the carniverous
plant. Watch out for the purple lizard as you proceed downwards. If you fall
into the pit below you will see a secret area with a crate and a Life Crate
that can be accessed by sliding under the low ceiling. This is just one of the
many secret areas in Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure.

If you continue up you will see your first TNT box. TNT boxes can be activated
by bouncing on them. They then give you a three second countdown before they
blow up every crate or creature within a close vicinity of it. They can also
blow up crates through iron boxes! If you spin it, it will blow up on you so
watch out!

Bounce on it to activate it and carry on. Jump and spin to get the boxes on top
of the TNT so you don't blow yourself up. Continue and jump on the iron
platform. Then jump back to solid ground to meet a new crate - the breakable
spring. This crate is just like the iron spring but is breakable. It also adds
towards your box count, so don't forget to break it before you continue on!
Jump on it to reach the bouncy crate above.

Move forward and get the next checkpoint. Navigate across on the platforms
collecting the wumpa fruit as you go along. Then, it's bonus time!

                               BONUS ROUND

Go down the line, collecting the wumpa and detonating the TNT and collecting
the life crate. Jump on the question mark and use its bounce to elevate you
to the solid iron platform. Collect the life crate and go back down to get
the crate you missed. Crawl under the iron platform and continue onwards,
breaking all the crates you see.

When you reach the spring boxes, hold A to bounce even higher and get the
? crate. Ahead of you you will see four crates. Bounce on them to get the
crates that are higher up, like a staircase. Bouncing is the most important
thing in the Crash Bandicoot games, and you have to get used to it. If by
some chance you stuff it up, hold R + A to execute a high jump. This ability
is very useful. Get to know it. Break the following crates and get to the
finish.
\ /
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use the bonus platform to give you some elevation as you spin the Carniverous
Plant. Continue on the platforms and spin the next Carniverous Plant, while
getting the mystery crate above it. Break the mystery crate and set off one of
the TNT boxes to destroy the rest of them.

Bounce down the cliff left, right, left (using the wumpa fruit as a guide) to
break the crates under them. Once on the floor, spin the three crates and get
rid of the purple lizard. Nail the checkpoint.

The vulture above you is ferocious, and needs skill to get past it. Jump forwa-
rd when in close proximity to land on it or to jump over it. Move forward and
use the iron boxes if you need them to land on the moving platform. Jump off
and land on the purple lizard to get the Life Crate. Jump on the spring box
to get the wumpa and jump on the TNT to blow the boxes.

You'll meet another vulture as you go down the stairs collecting the wumpa.
Land on the top crates to break the crates above, and then get the lower level
of them. Don't forget to get the Aku Aku.

Ahead of you is a gap. If you fall into it and proceed down the stairs, you'll
be heading to the secret area for the gem path. If this is what you plan to
do, refer to the end of the level for the guide or see the secret gem/gem path
section.

Carry on to the checkpoint and continue on the linear path. Get the Aku Aku
crate and jump on the moving platforms while collecting the wumpa. Jump on the
iron box and continue on, hitting the platforms. Watch out for the Carniverous
Plants as you jump on the platforms. Get the mystery crate and the life crate
while taking care of yet another Carniverous Plant and a Purple Lizard.

Carry on to the finish.

Follow the wumpa trail and spin the carniverous plant. Ride the platforms

Ahead of you, you'll see a nitro box. These boxes are dangerous as they will
blow you up if you touch them. They have a crate count, but don't worry, if you
get to the end you'll find a special box that detonates all the nitro boxes
when you're out of way's harm.

Kick off, jump over the nitro and keeping safe. Ahead of you you'll see a peng-
uin. These young ones are easy as long as you are out of the way when they att-
empt to spin.

Jump up and get the mystery crate while dodging the nitro. Get the bouncy sand-
wich and try to control yourself as you slide across the ice. Ice is very slip-
pery, and it is hard to control Crash so take it slow. If you have to while
you're getting on your first legs, crawl across the ice so you don't slip.

Get the Aku Aku crate and watch out for the barrage of seals as they come slid-
ing down the slope. The easiest way is to navigate over them. Jump down and
break the four crates. Fall into the pit where the arrow is for your first
Polar Chase!

A Note About Polar Chases
-------------------------
A Polar Chase can usually be identified by an arrow leading down in a pit.
You are sitting on the back of a baby polar bear getting chased by a bigger
Polar Bear, probably its mother anxious to get its baby back. It takes pla-
ce in a linear fashion. Crash is facing you and riding towards you. Crates
are placed through out the level and if you are skilled enough you can get
them, but it might take you a few attempts. You must watch out for enemies
like penguins and seals, and there are quite a few nitro boxes littered
through out the level as well.

Obstacles include mines, which don't damage you but elevate you so you may
land on some enemies. They can do good and they can do bad. Another thing
to watch out for are the gates - electrical gates littered through out the
level which are ready to fry you.

All this and you're still getting chased by the mother Polar Bear! Press B
to gain speed and A to jump nitro boxes and other things. In earlier levels
wumpa fruit guide you to crates and around electrical gates and mines, and
in later levels you will find speed platforms which glow green. They will
give you a short burst of nitro speed.

Good luck!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get the checkpoint and four easy boxes on your middle and right. Move to the
right to get an Aku Aku along with three other crates. Watch out for the pengu-
in and try to stay on the right to collect the crates. You might occasionally
need to press B to give you speed.

Get the three boxes on the left and weave in and out of the gates following the
wumpa fruit. Be quick and get the life box after the third gate on the right.
Dodge the penguins and go left then right for the crates.

Jump high (A) for a life crate, dodge the penguins and get the checkpoint.
Dodge the penguins that are moving to the right while keeping an eye out for
crates. Dodge in and out avoiding the nitro pillers and follow the wumpa throu-
gh the electrical gates.

Jump over the penguins, dodge the nitro, jump through the nitro barrier while
hitting the life crate and keep an eye out for more crates on the right. Weave
in and out from the barriers and stop with a halt when Crash jumps and lands...

...on a checkpoint crate. With any luck, you've gotten all the crates in your
first Polar Chase. Slide across the ice, dodge the nitro and come to a stop
because of the crate barrier. Break it and carry on. Dodge the penguin and
break the Aku Aku, dodging the nitro.

Watch out for the seals as you break an airborne mystery crate. Carry on and
smash the four crates and land on the bonus platform.

Run across, collect the wumpa and jump on the iron spring to pick the bouncy
box. Break the four crates and collect the wumpa. Break the flash crate and
the crate above it (don't spin the flash crate as you won't be able to make
it to the one above). Bounce on all the TNTs and don't forget to smash the
life crate. Move forward and you'll see two new boxes: The ! Box and the
Outline box.

An outline box is a box that will be there once you activate it with a !
Box. Outline boxes can sometimes be sly, as you see here. Don't take it for
granted that it will be a breakable box - in many instances, it will be an
iron box that can sometimes guard against you getting a breakable crate that
you need to get the clear gem. A perfect example is what you see ahead of
you, with the outline boxes blocking you from getting the bouncy box. The
best defence against this happening is simply to look ahead if possible. You
will always need an outline box to be turned solid, so sometimes you might
not be able to. That's what this walkthrough is here for, though! Move forw-
ard and bounce five times on the bouncy box, then bounce back as skillfully
as you can!

Ahead of you, once you activate the outline boxes, you will see a breakable
spring and a box above it. Get the box above then break the breakable spring
box. Carry on to the finish!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come off the bonus platform and collect the wumpa. Ahead of you is another use-
less creature known as a shirt. Dispatch of it and continue! Use R + A (High
Jump) to get the bouncy sandwich. Get the TNTs along the way and crawl under
the low column to get a checkpoint.

Slide under the low pipes and eliminate the Fat Mouse while you're at it. Get
crates and dodge the nitro. Break the crate while dodging the nitro and kill
yet another fat mouse. Ignite the TNT and the crate, proceed and get the other
crates and the flash crates.

Dispatch of the fat mouse and clean out the pipes (grabbing the crates and the
Aku Aku mask) as well as breaking the flash crate. The crates above the nitro
cannot be touched yet, backtracking will be needed to claim them.

Move forward and get rid of the three crates and the bouncy crate. Hit the che-
ckpoint and use R + A to light the TNT. Grab the Aku Aku and proceed forward,
getting rid of the shirt, the mystery crate and the six TNTs.

Ahead of you is a spring crate and a NITRO !. Ignore those and jump forward.
There is a Life Crate side by side with a nitro crate. If you press the NITRO !
the Life Crate will be broken and you will miss out on a life. Collect the life
and then go back and press the NITRO ! by jumping on the spring.

Backtrack all the way to the pipes where you missed two boxes (beacuse the nit-
ro shut off the path) and break them. Then continue forward to the current
point.

You will see nine crates, two of them TNTs. Spin the bottom two crates then use
R + A to hit the crates in the middle. Try not to hit the other crates on the
way down. Jump to the other side, spin the final crate and light the two TNTs.
Break the mystery crate and get rid of the shirt.

Move forward, take out the crash crate, light the TNTs and break the crates.
Proceed forward and bounce from the crates to get the life crate above them
and slightly to the right. Get rid of the shirts and enter the pipelines again,
hitting the checkpoint. Collect the wumpa and get rid of the shirt and the fat
mouse.

You have now finished just about a quarter of the game! While you haven't seen
all the areas yet (by areas I mean Arctic Cavern, the space area) and all the
enemies, you should be getting the jist of it.

Run down collecting the wumpa and use the penguin to elevate you to get the cr-
ate above. Carry on smashing the crates and collecting the wumpa. Set off the
TNT and collect the Aku Aku before it detonates. Get the mystery boxes, the
second one on the ice platform watch out for the seals. Above you (above the
pit) in between the two ice platforms you will see the blue secret gem path
platform. This is only unlockable once you find the blue secret gem in a later
level.

Carry on forward, detonating the TNT and getting rid of the penguins. Watch out
for the stomper - if you get caught in it you will get crushed. You can't dest-
roy them so you need to look out and have good timing.

Hold A once you're on the spring box in the pit to juice the bouncy crate, and
get ready for your second Polar Chase!

You'll hit the checkpoint - quickly swerve to the right to smash the four boxe-
s. Turn to the left to avoid the electrical gate and go onto the glowing green
booster pad. If you miss it you'll have to look out for the penguin who insists
on travelling to the left.

Watch out for the nitro pillars and the gates - once you get past them you'll
get an Aku Aku and hit a few booster pads. Dodge the penguins and break the
five crates. Keep on hitting the booster pads as they will give you some dista-
nce from the angry Polar Bear.

Use the booster pads to hit the four crates and the checkpoint. Hit the crates
on the right and then the crates on the left. Avoid the penguins and break the
two crates. The mines will elevate you so keep in mind that the first time the-
re is a nitro pillar on the left and the second time it is on the right.

You'll have to jump to avoid the penguins and keep in check how far away the
Polar Bear is from catching you. There are a few crates coming up and a penguin
will try and push you into a nitro pillar if you're not too careful. Keep an
eye out for the electrical gate right in the middle as well.

You'll crash the checkpoint as you fall down. Collect the wumpa as you jump on
to the icy platform. If you're fast enough you can slide once to kill the peng-
uin and twice in quick succession and you'll end up not being hit by the stomp-
ers. If not, you can always take refuge in between them.

Juice the bouncy sandwich and find a new type of crate - the Iron Crate. This
Crate is reinforced with iron bars and it can only be broken using a body slam.
Jump on top of the iron crate and use your super body slam (A then R) to break
the whole line of crates, then jump onto the bonus platform.

four crates. Follow the wumpa down and break the two crates on the lower le-
vel. Follow the wumpa down, juicing the bouncy crate then braking the normal
crate before taking care of the ones on the platform. Follow the wumpa down
and break the three crates and the TNT. Following is a hard part - jump to
the left to the spring box, dodging the nitro. Then land on the nitro ! box.
All the nitro boxes are now fried, so you can fall to the right. Break the
new bouncy box and follow the wumpa down to an iron crate. Body slam it all
and finish off the level!

Jump up on the iron boxes, using the spring boxes to get across to the platform
on the right while avoiding the seals on that platform. Don't miss the life
crate at the top of the second spring box. Pick up the crystal and destroy the
four boxes for a nice gem.

To get to this platform, proceed forward. When you reach the ice you'll see
a penguin and an easily seen platform above it. Use the penguin to elevate
you onto the platform.

Follow the wumpa trail through the penguin and keeping the control on the
ice. Although the linear path is fairly straight forward, keeping control on
the ice is fairly mandetory. Remember, if you're having trouble, hold down
R to crawl without any slipping. You'll get the clear gem at the end.

In the jetpack levels (Cloud Nine) you fly around on a jetpack. The object
is to dodge the enemy planes and kamikaze bombs and to destroy Cortex's
blimps - you can damage the blimps by shooting Cortex's giant heads on the
side.

The A button will fire a energy 'bullet' that can be used to break crates
and damage enemy planes. L will make Crash spin left, likewise (respectivl-
y) for R.

your health!

The first five crates will be easy for you to crack - you have the option of
either hitting the green balloon or the crate itself. Watch out for the
fighter pilots coming up - they are your most common enemy. One of the best
strategies to beat them is:

"Try to move Crash around the screen using the directional pad.
If you keep on moving him in a clockwise direction, the fighter
pilot's bullets will miss. This is a good strategy for any ene-
      my on the jetpack levels..."
                                                       - crashman562

Each bullet can take away 2% and when they are in groups of four of more they
are a force to be reckoned with.

While they might not appear difficult, the blimp can be a mixed bag. They can
fire energy shots and normal shots and it can be hard to notice when they are
actually hurting you. To damage the blimp, you must fire at the image of Corte-
x. The health of the blimp appears in the bottom right corner of the screen and
is a permanent Heads-Up-Display.

Take care of the blimp and the fighter pilots, then you will see your first
health crate.

The Health Crate is instantly recognizable because its parachute has a red cro-
ss on it. You must hit the box and not the balloon. If you hit the balloon you-
'll miss out on the health bonus.

Grab the health crate at continue firing. During the rocket missions it is wise
to just hold down A, becuase there is no harm done in firing at anything (apart
from Health balloons, of course!). Nail the crates after the health box and
blow apart the nitro.

To note: the nitro's balloon cannot be cut, so you have to shoot the crate.
Continue on and take out the second blimp (don't forget to dodge the fighter
pilots). Ahead of you you'll see kamikaze pilots who fly at you on purpose car-
rying large explosives.

After you take care of the blimps you'll be sent a barrage of crates but they'-
re relatively easy to take care of.

After the last health crate you gobble up you'll see a barrage of kamikaze pil-
ots and their bombs. Shoot like crazy and you should demolish most of them.

Two more kamikaze fighters attempt to attack you before the third and final bl-
imp but they shouldn't pose too much of a problem!

/ \

Make sure you actually shoot the clock to start the level. In order of crat-
es before the fighter pilots come, you get 1 - 2 - 1 crates. After the first
blimp it's 3 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 1 and all along this time you're getting blasted
by fighter pilots. Just before the second blimp you'll get a chance for a 1
second box. A few more crates with the 3 second emblem on them and then you-
'll get to the speed gates. It is absolutely mandatory that you get all the
speed gates because they will give you a huge boost. You won't have anymore
chances for any other crates after the speed gates so a fast preformance wi-
th the blimp will save you a lot of time!

Use bouncing momentum to climb up the staircase (lighting the TNTs). Use the
breakable spring to get the crate up the top. If you wait and keep on bounc-
ing on the breakable spring, the TNTs will soon effect the pillar and bring
you down to earth. You'll see another pillar with crates too high for you to
reach (Breakable Spring, TNT and two normal crates). Break one normal crate
and the TNT will go off. Use R + A to reach the breakable spring and the ju-
mp will elevate you to a crate up top.

Carry on and hit the ! box. An iron spring will appear to the right of you.
Hold A and jump to and from the two breakable springs. When upon reaching
the second, watch out for the nitro glued to the iron spring before you jump
to it. Try and clear as far as you can so when you land on the platform a
few feet away from the third iron spring you won't land on a stray nitro bo-
x.

There'll be another pillar in front of an iron platform. Spin the mystery
crate under the pillar and the TNTs will go off. Jump onto the iron platform
quickly to avoid the blast. Collect the life crate and you'll have to jump
from iron platform to iron platform. If you're having a problem getting to
the lone iron platform, slide and then press jump to get a bit more extra
air.

Hit the ! box and the outline boxes will be filled up with breakable crates.
This will be a bit of a mission for people who haven't gotten used to jumpi-
ng but this is what you have to do: Hold down A and you'll have to jump five
crates until you reach an iron platform: three normal crates and two TNT's.
If you hold A + D-Pad Right you should be fine.

Move above the two iron crates in the little iron alcove and body slam to
break them and the life crate below them. You'll see the finishing platform
but don't go on it yet - travel to the left until you reach pillars of three
which consist mainly of TNTs. You can downsize the pillars and carry on to
the left.

You'll see a lone bouncy box (which you can take out) and then a weak platf-
orm of four bouncy boxes which, with skill and timing, you should be able to
juice and destroy with out too much of a problem. After taking out all five
of the bouncy boxes and the TNT pillars carry on to the finish.

[NOTE: On the count it will say that you still have two boxes left. Those
are the two nitros that I told you to dodge - they'll get destroyed when you
hit the NITRO ! box.]

Geez! That was one of the longer bonus levels. Anyway, carry on and you'll rea-
ch an Aku Aku box that you should destroy. You'll now meet your first hanging
area. Jump right into the rail to grab on. Continue right hanging and collecti-
ng the wumpa. Press B to spin and break the three crates. Continue on further
and spin the life crate. Get back to ground level and eliminate the mouse.

Jump from platform to platform over the toxic acids and hit the checkpoint. At
the third platform you'll have to go hanging again. You'll soon reach crates.
Hang directly under them and press A to crack them. The momentum will send you
back up to grab onto the rail again. You can rest on the platform if you want,
but if you continue forward you'll reach a new enemy: Hanging Flamethrower Tro-
op. When he isn't shooting flames proceed forward and spin him to his death.

Hit solid ground again and get rid of the mystery crate. Break the four iron
crates and get rid of the shirt. Eat the bouncy sandwich and get rid of another
shirt. Get rid of a fat mouse and hit the checkpoint. Patrolling the rails is
a new devil: the Rail Mine. This travels back and forth on the rails and tries
to get in your way, and it's indestructable. You'll have to use the invincible
mask or dodge it.

Get rid of the flamethrower troop and the fat mouse (if you're on ground leve-
l). You'll have to drop to ground anyway, because there are iron crates with a
life crate in the middle. Do a body slam to the left of them (if you try on top
Crash will hang to the rail) and it'll destroy a few of them. Destroy the rema-
ning, get rid of the shirt and hang from the rail (to avoid the nitro). Drop
down, get rid of yet another useless shirt, hang (to dodge the nitro) and drop
again.

Wait until the rail mine goes past and dodge the nitro. Pass another rail mine
and light the TNT. It'll clear the nitro and set off the NITRO ! Box. Carry on,
destroying the six crates and lighting the TNT. Dispatch of the fat mouse,
body slam the crate pillar and hit the Checkpoint.

Get rid of a second fat mouse and slide under the low piping, getting rid of a
third fat mouse. Continue to clear the low pipes, getting rid of the fat mice
and collecting the crystal. Don't hang because you'll have to drop again to
dodge the rail mine. Smash the mystery crate and hit the finishing platform.

Until you have cleared the green gem path you won't be able to get the clear
gem.

a little bit to the left of it and drop. You'll land on a bouncy crate. Go
a little bit left after you destroy it as well and you'll land on another

When you start off, get rid of the two sharks, dodge the spiked buoy and break
the four crates (followed by two more). Take care of another shark in a tight
passage, pass in between the spikes and clear the checkpoint.

Watch out for the puffer fish, the sharks and the eventual spiked buoy as you
decend. Keep an eye out for the jellyfish (they, like the rail mine are indest-
ructable) and carry on to the checkpoint.

Destroy the three crates and keep an eye out for some decending jellyfish. At
the bottom of the decinding passage you are about to meet is a shark, three
nitro crates and a puffer fish so don't be hasty otherwise you might bump into
one. Destroy the five crates before the checkpoint while keeping an eye out for
a spiked buoy.

Watch for the jellyfish when you hit the NITRO ! Box in the middle of them.
Carry on through the narrow passage watching out for the shark and the landmin-
es. At the bottom of the next 'clearing' you will find a normal and a life cra-
te. Collect the crystal and go up through the vertical passage while dismantli-
ng the eels. Grab your clear gem for the finish!

This level has a blue secret gem. Consult the end of the guide or the secr-
et gem section on how to claim it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Immediatly when you start you'll see a new enemy - the spiked lizard. Slide to
eliminate it. Use the spring to get the mystery box and alley-oop to the platf-
orm. Break the two crates and light the TNT. Follow the wumpa to a purple liza-
rd and destroy it. Break the upcoming pillar of three boxes with a body slam
and hitch a ride on the platform.

In the middle of your voyage you will encounter a normal crate - spin, jump or
body slam it. Then catch the platform down until you reach level ground. When
you reach another crate pillar jump and spin the mystery crate. Jump up onto
the breakable spring and juice the bouncy crate, then body slam to destroy
the breakable spring and the crate below it.

Hitch a ride on the following platforms and land on solid ground, spinning the
checkpoint and taking care of the spiked lizard. Body slam the iron crate and
get back on the moving platforms. Duck when you land on the second platform
to avoid the pillar of nitro and once you get onto solid ground take out the
flash crate.

Take out the purple lizard but keep an eye out for the vulture, and use the
TNT's bouncing momentum to hop over the nitro. Continue on, using the purple
lizard to get the Aku Aku crate. Follow the wumpa in front of the waterfalls
and catch the platforms, avoiding the vulture in between the second and third.
When you catch the fourth platform, keep an eye out for the iron ! box that you
need to get. Drop down on it. When the platform comes back to pick you up, make
sure you jump it otherwise you might get pushed off the iron box.

You'll come up to five crates. Juice the bouncy one, ignite the top right TNT
and drop down to smash the life crate and the normal crate. Jump up to the top
of the iron boxes, catch a ride on the platform and you'll come to an interest-
ing area:

                                        X
                                        X
             Key: X
                                        X
             X - Iron Crates XX
             T - TNT XXT
                                     TXXT
                                     XTTT

It is a bit interesting, but is pretty simple really. At this point you can do
nothing but light the first TNT for if you body slam you'll kill yourself and
you can jump over the four individual boxes on the fourth row yet. All will re-
main are three iron crates, body slam them and proceed forward and slide the
spiked lizards.

Break the mystery crate and ignite the TNTs. Jump on the iron spring and catch
a ride on the platforms. You'll have to jump from the second platform and onto
the NITRO ! to be able to pass to the next point [from here you can go for the
blue gem if you have the special powers, refer to the secret gem section or the
end of this level for the guide].

Carry on and get rid of the purple lizard for the bonus!

Hitch a ride on the platforms and bounce from box to box to take out the th-
ree crates. You'll get to two iron crates, when a platform is just about to
get under you, body slam and you'll land on the platform. Bounce on the cra-
te staircase until you reach the iron box. Jump from there to the iron plat-
form. Break the two airborne boxes and the six boxes underground. Stand on
the very tip of the iron platform and press R + A to get to the tip of the
otherside. [Alternaterately you can slide jump right]. Ignite the TNT before
the platform and the one after it, climb the staircase and off to the finis-

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slide the green lizard and use R + A to get the life crate and to juice the
bouncy crate before setting off the TNT. Watch out for the vulture as you ride
the platform. Watch out for another vulture until you reach solid ground and
take care of the crates (note the flash crate).

Ignite the TNT, continue on riding the platforms (collect the crystal) and take
care of the lizards - carry on to the finish!

\ N. Gin can be a relitvely challenging boss but if at first you don't succee-/

/ The Aircraft Deposit is by far the most annoying boss in the whole game. Wh-\
\ en N. Gin begins to deploy the bombs he will swerve all around the screen. /
/ If that wasn't enough, most of the time the Aircraft Deposit will spew out \

A new enemy immediatly will charge on you and you should eliminate it (a Polar
Bear) with a spin. Get rid of the airborne crate, the crate on the ground and
the polar bear with some more spins. Watch out for the penguin at the next pla-
tform and collect the wumpa with the crate next to it.

Juice the bouncy sandwich and jump onto the icy platform. Collect the Aku Aku
and nab all the wumpa while you're at it. Carry on around the icy platforms ta-
king care of the penguins. Collect the wumpa as you jump onto the soft ground.

Break the mystery crate and the four crates following, then use your new double
jump to get on the icy platform. Pass the icy platforms and dodge the nitro to
land on the spring box. Carry on right and use double jump and/or R + A to get
the life crate and the bouncy box. Light the TNTs before taking a leap for the
polar chase.

Get the four boxes on the right immediately after the checkpoint and stay on
the right for a fifth box. Dodge the gates and the penguins and pick up an Aku
Aku. Follow the booster pads to get two more crates and keep on using them to
get more wumpa.

Don't miss the four crates after the gates on the right and continue to hit the
booster pads. Approaching you fast are ledges sticking out of the ground that
you will have to hit A to jump over. Watch out for the nitro columns situated
around the center and at the right from the third one onwards and hit the chec-
kpoint. After the checkpoint you will encounter a tough point.

All of these tough obstacles are within a few feet of each other. Practice mak-
es perfect, and if you hopefully have a few Aku Aku masks to spare you should
be okay. Memorize the opposite directions (left, dodge right) and you should do
just fine.

Remember that if need be you can press A multiple times to jump over even elec-
trical gates, but not nitro columns of two or more.

Don't miss the two crates on the left just after the penguins (one of them is a
life crate) and make sure you hold B to gain a little speed.

You'll reach a checkpoint and a few more ledges that you can jump over using A.
There are five in total and following are three crates. Three more ledges then
two crates on the right and left. Press B to gain some distance before the fin-
ish.

Watch out for the penguins before the rows of TNT. Light two of them, then use
bouncing momentum to hit the mystery crate (you may want to use double jump if
you don't feel confident enough yet). Use the polar bear's bouncing momentum
to hit the NITRO ! Box.

Watch out for the following penguins and stamper thingies as you slide on the
ice. Collect the wumpa as you land for the bonus platform!

secret gem/gem paths section earlier in the guide.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move forward, breaking the crate and using double jump (or R + A) to get the
life crate before you light the TNTs. Watch out for the Security Ray that you
can usually just jump over. Clear the gate and take care of the six crates acc-
ordingly before jump spinning the UFO. As long as you dodge the electrical cur-
rents they fire at the ground you should be fine.

Carry on collecting the wumpa until you reach a security disk. These disks are
stable when green but when they are red they tip to the side to drop you in a
pit. They flash when they're about to turn red. Get off them as fast as possib-
le. Take care of the four crates accordingly and watch out for the space clam.

When the space clam is bear it sends out its spikes and is basically rendered
immobile. The only way to kill it is to spin it when it has its shell on. Exce-
rsise extreme caution.

Hit the checkpoint, watch out for the security disk and be careful of the space
clams on the platform you're about to land on. Take care of the five following
crates accordingly and hop over the security ray while keeping an eye out for
the UFO.

Navigate over the security disks (one will be green when the other one is red)
to reach the next platform. Get the TNT and the flash crate before destroying
any of the other ones, then continue and take care of a few more space clams.

Ahead of you is a forward carousel (they are always yellow). They will move you
forward against your will and it'll be slower to go the opposite way that it's
pushing you (in other words, you'll be going at 1/3 of your original speed if
you go against its motion of push).

Jump on to it and you'll be stopped by the crate column which you should promp-
tly body-slam. Spin the flash crate before igniting the TNT and continue to get
the checkpoint.

Juice the bouncy sandwich. Ahead of you are some wumpa leading down, this is
the secret gem path. Ignore it for now, you cannot get to it because you don't
have the special powers that you need yet. Continue on collecting the wumpa and
use double jump to get to your first backwards carousel. Don't let it take you
by suprise, hold forward and body slam the crate pillar.

Deal with the UFO and double jump over the nitro, take care of the wumpa and
dodge the security rays. Smash the crate and navigate through the security disk
onto the forward carousel. Take care of the TNTs (collect the life crate before
you blow them) and continue on to hit the checkpoint.

Move on, delete the space clam from exsistance and get the mystery crate. Work
through the security disk and the UFO and land onto the bonus platform!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This level contains a green secret gem, and it is the easiest secret gem to ge-
t. That is why in the guide I will tell you to backtrack, because it is only
a minute or so out of your way and poses no danger.

Move forward, breaking the mystery crate and taking care of all the other ten
crates accordingly while keeping an eye out for the two puffer fish and the sh-
ark.

Go through the following passages, taking care of the nine eels and the eight
crates and one nitro accordingly. Then, hit the checkpoint.

Ahead of you are squid - the reason they are not in the enemies section is bec-
ause sometimes they seem to do you no damage and sometimes they do. Perhaps a
glitch? Anyway, charge/spin/lunge forward. Go down the passage dodging the puf-
fer fish and hit the ! box.

Continue back to the point of the ! box and nail the shark and the three crate-
s.

Hit the checkpoint and move down the passage taking good care of the eels. Wat-
ch out for the spiked buoys and take out the following crates.

Hit the checkpoint and move down the passage, keeping an eye on the puffer fis-

Move forward and take care of the four crates accordingly. Double jump up to
the platform on the right and juice the bouncy sandwich. Then, double jump to
the platform on the left and collect the life crate. Fall down, collecting the
wumpa and slide the spiked lizard.

Double jump from one platform to another (leap of faith!) using the wumpa as a
guide. Collect the Aku Aku and take care of the crate and the two TNTs accordi-
ngly.

Carry on. Juice the bouncy crate and jump using the bouncy momentum. Collect
all the five crates, avoiding the nitro and then follow the wumpa path to a st-
eady platform. Jump off the purple lizard and spin the checkpoint.

Move forward - this part will take quick reflexes. There is a pillar ahead of
you. Spin the bottom crate to level it down a bit. Unfortunately, this sets the
TNT off. Jump (quickly) to the top of the pillar and then double jump to the
left for a hidden platform with a bouncy sandwich. Enjoy it while you can and
then come back to earth.

Collect the mystery crate while avoiding the nitro and then move into the cave-
rn. Double jump up, collecting the Aku Aku and then spinning the Blow Dart Nat-
ive. These guys can be dangerous because they can catch you by suprise and fire
darts suprisingly fast.

Backtrack a few feet to break the iron crates and take care of the three crates
down in the little alcove accordingly. Take out the carniverous plant and jump
up the iron platforms, keeping an eye out for when the natives fire their dart-
s.

Get the mystery crate and jump to the right to find a semi-hidden life crate
before climbing up using the spring box. Break the iron crates then climb up
again, hitting the checkpoint.

Quickly jump up - there's a pesky crouching native with a blow dart gun just
waiting for the right moment to inflict some pain. Carry on, collecting the
crystal and breaking the three iron crates. Break another set of iron crates
and you will land on a pile of crates on solid ground.

Eat the bouncy sandwich and continue to the left. Break the pillar and slide
the spiked lizard. Slide another spiked lizard and use bouncing momentum to
bounce over the nitro, collecting all the breakable crates in between (you'll
have to spin to break the life crates - otherwise you'll land in a pile of nit-
ro).

Continue after opening the checkpoint. Break the three crates accordingly and
slide the spiked lizard. Light one of the TNTs to blow apart all five crates
blocking the passage and land on the bonus platform!

Night this time. Break the four crates before the speed gates.

Watch out for the kamikaze as you get your next crate. Break all the crates as
skillfully as you can and carry on for the first blimb.

Break all the crates. The fighter pilots are really challenging and they can
put you back a few so watch out. Second blimp is coming up.

Break the crates coming up and keep an eye out for the nitro. Go through the
speed gates, break the health crates and nail the blimp to end!

\ After you've attacked him, you need to move. He'll jump onto the trees and /
/ after a few seconds will fall (hopefully on the far left one if you jump in \
\ that direction) down onto a platform which so much force that it will crump-/
/ le into a heap and will disappear. \

/ Continue on spinning and repeat the cycle until he runs away like a little, \
\ Tiny, girl. /

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get the lone crate and 'bop' the UFO. Collect the wumpa and take care of the
two crates accordingly. Bounce down the crate stair case to nail the three cra-
tes, using the wumpa as a guide.

Ahead of you is a fan. It'll throw you a rediculous height into the air. Use
the elevation to glide gracefully over the mammoth nitro wall. Carry on, follo-
wing the carousel to pick up an Aku Aku mask. Double jump (or tornado spin) the
gap and take care of the UFO and the space clam accordingly.

Continue, collecting the wumpa and hit the checkpoint. Watch out for the new
creature ahead of you: the floor spider!

The floor spider is a spider-like creature that seems to be cleaning the floor.
When it has its legs extended you can only ex-communicate it by jumping it.
When it has its legs drawn up, sliding and spinning is acceptable. Just think
when attacking this monstrocity and you should be okay.

Take care of the two floor spiders and the six crates ahead of you accordingly.
Take care of the floor spider and use the spring to reach the next platform
(hold A and then double jump). Continue on for the bonus round!

Take out the six crates forward accordingly. Take care of the two crates in
between the mysterious four airborne iron crates and carry on. Continue on,
collecting the crates and so-forth. Continue on until you reach the upside
down cross -- fear not, break the two crates and set off the TNT to break
the crate below the iron platform. Continue forward.

Don't bounce on the iron spring crate under the nitro, otherwise you'll be
launched full-throttle into them. Just move on, breaking the six crates. The
trick here (with the ! box sandwich) is to get the bottom one only, don't
activate the top one.

Break the bottom crate and go back to activate the top ! box. Break the top
crate and continue on. Break the five crates and move on. Chomp on the boun-
cy sandwich and body slam the mystery crate that appears to bridge a gap.
You'll land in a mystically celestial place with a free life crate!

Continue and body slam the four iron crates and move a little to the right
for the finish!
\ /
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use the spring boxes to reach a new level. Break the crate and the four follow-
ing it. Continue on and dismantle the floor spider. Body slam through the iron
crates. Slide the floor clam and body slam through the iron crates again. Take
care of the floor spider, body slam the iron crates and slide the space clam
when you reach the ground.

Move forward and spin ye olde checkpointe. Ride the carousel (but make sure you
double jump the nitro!). Pass the security disks and jump another nitro. Jump
the security ray and spin the UFO. Downsize the crate column.

      Ray                             Key:       Ray   {Security Ray}
                                                 CAR   {Carousel}
CAR  Sp.Cl  CAR                                  Sp.Cl {Space Clam}

If luck is with you, you should be able to slide so you don't develop much dam-
age. It is worth to note though, that you can actually walk under the ray with-
out being harmed.

Take care of the three crates accordingly and continue collecting the wumpa un-
til you hit the checkpoint. Use R + A Double Jump to reach the next platform.
Jump left to an airborne platform and dispose of a space clam to get a life cr-
ate.

Carry on your way, taking care of the five crates accordingly and dodging the
nitro crates. Move forward but don't hit the ! box. Jump through the subtelly
invisible outline boxes to get the NITRO ! Box and the crystal.

Quickly dismantle of the eels and you'll find five crates at the bottom of the

Use the double jump to reach the Aku Aku, and it'll be easier for you if you
reach the five crates (two of which are TNTs) and use bouncing momentum to
clear them. From on top of the five crates, jump to the right and hit the
crate above the bouncy crate to find a life crate.

Take care of the two crates in front of you and dodge the nitro as you get
the TNT and jump onto the next platform. Don't be fooled into body slamming
the iron crates - at the bottom is a TNT which'll harm you. Walk off the cr-
ates and break a normal crate to set off the TNT, which'll break the majori-
ty of them.

Use R + A Double Jump to jump on top of the TNT in this massive crate wall.
From there, use double jump to reach the life crate before the TNT detonate-
s. Destroy any remaining crates. Use R + A double jump again to get the next
two airborne crates above the little crate wall following.

Continue but don't hit the ! box yet. Double jump forward and get the far
right mystery crate to continue. Land on the platform with the airborne nit-
ro boxes. Move on to the right and get the two crates under the outline box-
es. Move on backtracking, getting all the crates (stand on top of the crates
above the bouncy crates and spin to break them without hitting the nitro).

Climb the crate staircase to reach the ! box by jumping off the edge of the
platform to get the two airborne crates and move off for the finish!
\ /
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move forward and get the checkpoint. Dismantle of the shirts and crates, watch-
ing out for the rail mine. Continue on getting the crates before another...

...checkpoint. Watch out for frogs and jump the acid gap. Move along the linear
path, taking out the boxes, enemies, hanging and watching for the rail mine as
usual. Keep an eye out for the flash crate and spin the NITRO ! Box to get a
few more crates on the count.

Continue on past the iron crates and all for the checkpoint. Use double jump
and tornado spin to bridge the gaps in some of these areas. Continue on, watch-
ing out for those pesky frogs and taking out the crates. It is at this point in
the game that you realise that Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure can get rea-
lly repetative at times.

However, it is a fantastic puzzle/platform game, and it is still fantastic, ev-
en in side scrolling mode (on the Playstation it's usually in third-person).
Downsize the iron crate pillar with a body slam and continue for the finish!

You'll only get your first (two second) crate after the bonus platform. At
that time you can also pick up an Aku Aku that will be put to good use. Ama-
zingly, that is the only time crate in this level. Remember, time is of the
essence. Aku Aku will help you but only once (or twice) (or thrice). Be on
your guard.

===============================================================================
6.D5 Level Twenty: The Final Countdown [Cortex's Space S...]
===============================================================================

{-Time Trial-} Sapphire Relic: 2.30.40
                      Gold Relic: 2.13.80
                      Platinum Relic: 1.58.20

Collect the three crates in front of you, gaining another Aku Aku. Drop down
using the mystery crate as a guide, dispose of the floor spider (while keeping
an eye out for the nitro) and jump on the carousel. Dodge the obstructions to
gain another Aku Aku.

Hit the checkpoint and use the springs to make it for the next level. Set off
all the TNTs (keep an eye on the space clam). Drop down to the next level but
watch the nitro (hold R after the slide). At the same time, keep an eye on the
new stomper type (I like to call them "oppressors").

Dodge all the obstacles coming up after the six crates (UFOs, Security Rays,
Security Discs and a lot of other junk), and ride the carousel to the next che-
ckpoint (if you have good timing the space clam will still have its shell up
when you land on the security disk).

Continue on past the oppressor to view a line of nitro crates and a life crate
above them out of their blast radius.

Here you have two options, and the first one will save you a lot of time - if
you have an Aku Aku at hand, you can stand up, blowing the nitro and collecting
the life crate now so you don't have to backtrack (the life crate will defend
you).

If you don't have one at hand or you don't want to sacrifice one (or you like
to backtrack) continue on. This guide will be based on the assumption that you
continue on. If you don't and you sacrifice an Aku Aku, there is just one minor
detail:

Carry on. If you drop down, you will land on a bouncy staircase. DO NOT BREAK
THEM YET! If you do, you'll have no way of getting back for the life crate (if
you did sacrifice and have already obtained the life crate, you may break them-
).

Dodge the oppressors and carry on for another checkpoint. Bounce up onto the
iron crates on top of the iron boxes using the spring box and break them. Fall
back down on the side of the spring box to super body slam, setting off the TN-
Ts.

Climb up using the spring box for another checkpoint.

three bouncy boxes for the clear gem (ignore if you broke the nitro crates you-

ak a UFO and a bouncy box.

Dodge the rest of the stuff for the finish!

He'll lock on to Crash and /
/ will power up a shot (his crossheir will go red). Just before he fires (you'\
\ get used to the rythym after a while) jump out of the way and a gem behind /
/ you will be pulvarized, taking a chomp out of Cortex's life bar. \
\ /
/ That's basically they way the whole battle goes. To get to the security dis-\
\ ks left and right you need to jump on the middle one and from there access /
/ them. \

This ability is very useful -- notice how you can't seem to get fast times
in time trial mode? Go back, and hold L all the way and see what happens!
Gold or Platinum time trials are essential to the completion percentage of
the game!

===============================================================================

To access this boss you must have 100% completion status. Fight Cortex again.
When you beat him...

The main jist of the battle is that of like a polar chase. There are crates bl-
ocking you and you can't let the boss catch up with you (this is the easiest
boss fight in the game).

Don't worry about collecting the crates, when you make it to the end you'll ge-
t the gem regardless. Finishing this boss battle will give you 101%, the highe-
st possible.

- It would be fantastic if you hade invincible Aku Aku: try to get two masks
before attempting this level.

- Hold L (turbo run) throughout this level to completely outspeed the monster.

After this, you'll have completed the game! Well done!

Opening Sequence

NARRATIVE: On a mysterious space station orbiting high above the earth...

UKA UKA: Cortex, remind me why I keep you around. You have failed me one too
many times.

CORTEX: Uka Uka! Forgive me... I've been wasting all these years trying to
vanquish that brainless bandicoot! He is of no importance to us... We want to
take over the world!

UKA UKA: I've heard it all before, little scientist! What is so different this
time?

CORTEX: Trust me Uka, I have a little plan to bring earth's puny inhabitants
down to size...

CORTEX: At last, my planetary minimizer is complete! Earthlings will bow to my
superior intellect! Muahahahahaha! Finally, after all these years of abuse,
the tables have turned! Who's the little guy now? I, Neo Cortex, am your rul-
er. You will look up to me! Hahaha! I have finally won! Now nothing can st-
op me, not even that little bandicoot!

AKU AKU: Crash, Coco, the world needs your help. Cortex has shrunk our planet
to the size of a grapefruit. We must stop him.

COCO: It looks as if Cortex is using the crystals to power his shrinking mach-
ine... Crash, if you can find the proper crystals from around the world, I thi-
nk I can build a device to reverse the effects.

AKU AKU: Good luck crash. You must find the crystals so we can put an end to
Cortex's evil scheme.

------
Ending
------

CORTEX: You fool! It will take me forever to fix this mess!

COCO: Super! You got all the crystals! Let's hope there's enough power in the-
se to reverse Cortex's dirty work.

AKU AKU: Crash, you've done well... But Cortex is still a threat to us, as his
space station and planetary minimizer have not been destroyed. You must go ba-
ck and retrieve the gems and relics from each location.

------------
Final Ending
------------
CORTEX: You idiot! What have you done? You have destroyed the stabilizer cry-
stals! The unrestrained power of the minimizer is highly unpredictable!

ALL BOSSES: Arrgh! Ahhh!!

MONSTER: What have you done to us?

MOSTER: You will pay little bandicoot!

I'VE HEARD THAT IF YOU DIE MANY TIMES YOU'LL GET A FREE AKU AKU. HOW MANY TIMES
DOES IT TAKE?

You're going to have to die seven times to get a free one. Not worth it on pur-
pose in my opinion. Then again, life crates are a plenty in Crash Bandicoot so
I guess it's not a problem.

All of my family for pushing me behind and in front (and for
getting me a GBA and consequently a PSP and DS for Christmas!).

Who ever likes Crash Bandicoot, Tekken and Metallica for being

I hope this guide has been here for you in this time of need, I hope you found
it easy to read. If you want to make a suggestion, please do contact me [mhf.b

Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure, and indeed, the whole series, are some of
the most classic games ever made, and I urge all to play them. Good luck with
the game, and good luck with life.

You're never too old to play games!
