Tekken Advance
Review by djinni204
"Oh hell no!"
I love tekken games ever since my eyes laid upon tekken 2. I loved it even more when tekken 3 arrived. grew even more when tekken tag came. And totally head over heels on tekken 4. Then came tekken advance. All I can say is, What the !@#$ ?
Why? here's why.
GRAPHICS
Well the graphics is not necessarily bad, but it could have been better than these a little blurry polygons. But then again, I am not complaining too much since it is a Game Boy advance port and well, it can only give you so much. So all in all, I give Namco E for Effort.
SOUNDS
The sounds are bearable but I rather have the volume turned down to save battery and also due to the fact that the game's sound track is not all that great. Pretty average I might say.
STORY
Now this is where everything turns out a little too ugly for comfort. Why? because there is no story whatsoever! None. Nada. Zilch. Zero. I am really disappointed. They could have at least made a small cut scenes in the end, just to reward the players after beating the game. Apparently they did not took that into any consideration so the ending you get is a crummy credit roll. Way to go Namco.
CONTROLS
The controls are responsive, although I hate what they have done to the buttons. You get one button each for punch and kick, and one for change/tag and one for throw. Big mistake. They could have just stick to the normal left kick, right kick, left punch and right punch that tekken is supposed to have. Not some lame change like this. Now if you are wondering how to change the character, then utilize the freaking select button!
Seriously the combos are too lame and annoying to perform. In fact, it is too lame I wish I have not wasted my money renting this piece of a junk game.
GAME PLAY
Game play? you are asking for game play? heck this game does not even have a story so what game play do you expect? what you do is beat the enemies the CPU throws at you every round and there you go. Rinse and repeat.
But then again, there is the 2 player mode where in you can battle it out with your friends, that is if you have a friend who is also not so smart for buying the game. That, or just an avid tekken gamer.
REPLAY VALUE
Nothing really. After I beat the game a couple of times, trying to make myself like it, I can't. I just can't. It's just horrible. So very low replay value in my opinion and experience.
OVER ALL
By now you probably have a good idea what I think of this game. Did I hear someone say trash? and crap? well guess what, you are right. I seriously dislike this game so much I have warned each and everyone of my friends and also cousins who have a game boy advance to stay clear away from this horrible excuse for a tekken game.
Also, why is Lei, Eddie and Bryan isn't in the game? That's also one thing that I have been wondering about. I mean is why include xiaoyou? yuck. They could have at least pick the most popular ones instead of those crap tacular characters.
Anyway, as a final note, I'm warning you, do not buy this game unless you are really, really sure that you want it and understood the consequences of buying it. I have tried my best to be objective and unbiased on this game and not just rant and bash it. Because if I did, my comments would be far, far worse than what I have written.
