The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was a cartridge for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was an all-time classic, and is very hard to come by nowadays. In fact, few people from the new generation of gamers know of its existance, much less played it. So now is their chance. The Four Swords is the ported version of this classic game, with all new sound effects, edited text, better graphics, and an all new mini-game. Conversely, this mini-game is called ''The Four Swords.'' How original!

Graphics - 10/10

Graphics have never been high on the ''This makes a game great'' totem-pole of my mind (what little there is.) It has been my experience that good graphics can subtract from the fun of the game. This game is one of the select few that actually does have a wonderful mixture of both. The animation is smooth and crisp. The sprites are better than some seen on the Nintendo 64.

Sound - 10/10

RPGs are well known for their great music. This version of LttP has music updates that are for the better. As with most Zelda games, the only regret you have of playing this is that you get pretty much all of the music stuck in your head.

The sounds for this game are superb as well. From bush rustling to enemies taking hits, it makes you feel like you're actually there.

Story - 8/10

The reason that this category gets a low(er) score is because this is a port. As such, the storyline was already used once. Plus this is the basic storyline for every other Zelda game. Regardless, the story is great. In addition, it's much too in-depth to put in this review. The story behind the creation of the Dark World was the best.

Replayability - 9/10

It is a long game. That is a fact. The replay value on this is kind of like the replay value on Super Metroid. If you enjoy going through long games like this multiple times, then by all means do so. It is fairly easy, however, to create different scenarios to play through. For example, you could try going through it with no sword upgrades. This is what gives it it's replay value.

Gameplay - 11/10

The controls are extremely easy to master, and there is no wait time. This is a very good game for a first-time gamer to play... or it would be, were it not so long.

Buy or Rent - BUY!

Renting is a waste of your money. You'll like this game so much, you'll keep renting it. Soon, with the amount you've paid for constantly renting it, you could have bought a copy for yourself, your family, your neighbor, and that creepy guy with the torn beard that follows you around in to dark alleys.

Total - 10/10

Excellent game, near perfect port of its counterpart (the non-similar stuff was what made the port good.)
