Question from daxil101
Shedinja vs ninjask?
Im on a new team but that is a different story,im training both but witch is better.
Shedinja is definitely better, if you know how to use it properly. Ninjask I found has fantastic stats, but its learnset is horrible, and its ability is useless--pretty much just raising the ridiculously high speed stat it already has. Same goes for Sword Dance, and the only other real use for it is raising all those stats and then Baton Passing to carry them over to someone else. Personally, if I'm using a Pokemon in battle, I like to stay with that Pokemon until it faints or wins unless it has a distinct type disadvantage. How else is it going to gain experience?
Shedinja, though, is great. Once you know how to use it right, it's practically invincible. You would be surprised just how many Pokemon don't know any Rock, Flying, Fire, Ghost, or Dark type moves. And once you know which Pokemon do know those moves, they're easy to avoid. Status conditions aren't really an issue, because only two of them actually harm Shedinja and they don't tend to come up that often anyway. If you think about it, the only way to inflict a status condition on it is to use a purely status changing move, like Stun Spore or Poison Powder (or, say, Will-O-Wisp, if you want a Burn example), because moves that cause damage and have status changes as a side effect won't harm Shedinja at all. (Oh, and Leech Seed, which is a pain, but again, doesn't come up that often.)
As for the weather conditions--which in my opinion shouldn't actually harm Shedinja at all, but that's beside the point--well, don't use Shedinja during those conditions. Simple. The only time it's really a problem is in the desert, and the very occasional times a foe uses Sandstorm or Hail.
The biggest problem I had with Shedinja was whenever someone used Confuse Ray or Supersonic on it. I'd have to say that's the only time I really considered for a brief moment ditching Shedinja because it just wouldn't stop knocking itself out. But its Attack stat is off the charts, and its Speed is above average, so there's really no danger of it being harmed by a low level Pokemon even though it only has 1 HP. Just take out the foe before it can take out you.
So many people will try to raise a Shedinja and give up on it almost immediately after it gets KO'd because the Trainer didn't know how to use it properly. I've had mine for the entire game in Emerald and it's been absolutely fantastic. Saved my ass more times than I can count. Don't get frustrated with it because of its quirks--just learn how to use them to your advantage.
(And as a side note--I actually think it looks much cooler than Ninjask. :3)

personally I find that Shedinja is better in a lot of scenarios however Ninjask is far more consistent. the games AI can't always figure out that only super effective moves hit Shedinja so it is very possible to win battles that you should have lost. but Ninjask can be useful as an annoyer. with the highest speed in the game it is easy to inflict all of your opponents with status effects. in addition it has baton pass so that coupled with swords dance and its speed boost can buff up the pokemon that gets switched in. (these effects will transfer to the next pokemon when baton passed is used). so it's just a question of how you like to play. I wouldn't recommend either because none of them have great stats or a great move set so they are useless in far too many scenarios. (every elite 4 member can kill them without a problem. I can't think of a single elite 4 pokemon that can't) I hope this helps
