Power Rangers: Wild Force
Review by J J N
"This game makes me wild ... in a good way."
Oh my, oh my! Now this is a good attempt to create something new! Unlike previous games such as Power Rangers Dino and Time Force, this game is actually different and even somewhat fun to play.
No, I'm not exaggerating to say that this game is a refreshment after playing Dino and Time Force (both by the same development company). I think THQ handed this game over to another development company and they made this game cool to play not excellent nor earth shattering, but fun to play none of the less.
Ok, lets dig straight into the game play. Now this isn't one of those side scrolling game! No, rather it is like an adventure game, where you can move in all four direction (its pseudo 3D) In this game you're not fighting silly mutated people with claws nor robots but rather real people! I like that.
Now this gaming company actually knows what they're doing. In the game you can select other rangers to help you. I'll explain a bit later. So in the game you can punch, kick, do combos. You can also use your weapon in the game. Now, like I said, you get to pick more then one Rangers in the game. While you can't play them, they can be summon with your Ranger and provide extra ability. Like, for example, for the Blue Ranger if you summon him he will blast a fireball at the enemy.
Now this is where it gets interesting: remember in the television when they defeat the boss and then some how the boss becomes inflated into the size of a city block, so you have to call the big fighting machine? That transformer kind of thing. Anyway, you get to fight as a transformer in the game! While it isn't very fun, I find it refreshing none of the less.
Oh yeah, so the format of the game goes like this: every time you move into another stage its normally a ruin city, and after you beat the level you have to fight the boss, and if you're able to win, you're going to have to fight. Note that each time you beat the level the transformer gets a weapon upgrade.
I mentioned before that the graphics for this game is a big difference from the graphics of the previous Power Rangers game. I like the graphics for this game. It's nice, simple and good. It isn't flamboyant nor is it pretentious. Just plain and simple graphics to appease the gamers. The graphics is smooth and fluid, so you don't lag in the game. Nor will it give you a serious case of headache like Power Rangers Dino or Time Force.
But the most important factor, I believe, is how fun the game is. And to say the least, I actually enjoyed playing this game. I enjoy going around and beating up the enemies and fighting in transformer form.
In closing, this is actually a nice Power Rangers game, unlike the other games like Power Rangers Dino or Time Force. I highly recommend you give this game a try before any other Power Rangers game because this is one of the best I've play. Give it a rent, possibly a buy.
