: Intro
------------

Super Mario 3, the best selling Mario game of all time, has returned to battle
Bowser once again. This time the fight comes to the Gameboy Advance!

Perphaps the toughest part of the game isn't the castles, the moves, or even
Bowser's kids. The N-Card that pops up every so often has left some players
tearing their hair out. Well, no more of that, since this FAQ will walk you
through each of the eight possible N-Card configurations, as well as tips for
figuring out which one you are solving.

Although two of the three Walkthroughs have all the patterns have all eight
patterns of the N-Card Game, one doesn't even go over how to tell which pattern
you have. The other has it stuffed way inside the FAQ. Now then, not to say
they're not good FAQs overall, but having it alone makes it simpler for anyone
with questions about the N-Card Game alone.

Throughout this FAQ, I'll use the following key to denote the cards:
     M = Super Mushroom
     F = Fire Flower
     S = Starman
     1 = 10 coins
     2 = 20 coins
     U = 1 Up

============================================================
: The N-Card Game?
------------

The N-Card will show its face every 80,000 points. You must complete the stage
first before the Card shows up. However, beating one of Bowser's kids doesn't
count as completing a stage. If you beat one of the kids and are above the
80,000 marker, the card won't show up until you beat a stage. Although if you
go in a pipe on the world map and immediately come back out, that will count as
completing a stage, and the N-Card will show its face. Once you go and touch
it, Toad will give you the basics of how to play:

Flip over any two cards and see if they match. Miss twice, and you're out!

A few notes about the N-Card game. It will not show up in Level 8. At all.
Bowser doesn't seem to allow it or something. Also, it will not show up at all
if you have completed every stage and have a "Perfect" on all eight levels. It
will not show up in the "Level Card" area either.

: The Game
------------

Now then, the first card you flip over should ALWAYS be the top-left card. Why?
Because the entire board can be laid out for you within three card flips.

Depending on what your top-left card is, you can jump around this FAQ. If your
top-left flip is a:

Mushroom, start reading the part labeled "Top-left card: Mushroom"
Flower, scroll down to the part labeled "Top-left card: Flower"
1-Up, scroll down to the part labeled "Top-left card: 1-Up"

==== Top-left card: Mushroom =================================

If your top-left card is a Mushroom, then go three spaces right and two spaces
down. The card there will ALWAYS be another Mushroom. Guaranteed.

Now go two spaces up and flip the card there.

If it is another Mushroom, keep reading the "== Mushroom ==" area. If it's a
Flower, skip this and jump down to the "== Flower ==" area.

  == Mushroom ==

If your flip was another Mushroom, go down one space and one to the left and
flip that card. It will be another Mushroom. The rest of the board plays out
like this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| M |  | F |  | 2 |  | M |  | 1 |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| F |  | U |  | M |  | 1 |  | U |  | 2 |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | F |  | S |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

  == Flower ==

If your flip was a Flower, then go left two spaces and flip for another Flower.
Now then, move the cursor three spaces to the right and flip.

If your flip was a Starman, the rest of the board will play out like this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| M |  | F |  | U |  | F |  | S |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| 2 |  | S |  | M |  | 1 |  | U |  | F |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| 2 |  | M |  | 1 |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

On the other hand, if your flip was a 10 Coin, the board will play out like
this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| M |  | F |  | 2 |  | F |  | 1 |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| 2 |  | U |  | M |  | 1 |  | U |  | F |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | M |  | S |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

==== End "Top-left card: Mushroom" ===========================

==== Top-left card: Flower ===================================

If your top-left card is a Flower, go three spaces right and flip. The card
there can be one of two things: another Flower or a Starman.

  == Starman ==

If the card you flipped was a Starman, don't worry about missing one match. Go
to the top-right card and it will be a Flower. Use that to match the Flower in
the top-left corner.

The rest of the board will play out like this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| F |  | 2 |  | M |  | S |  | U |  | F |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| U |  | F |  | 1 |  | M |  | 2 |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| M |  | 1 |  | S |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

  == Flower ==

If the card you flipped was a Flower, then it gets somewhat tricky. Go one
space to the right and flip. The card will either be a 1-Up or a 20 Coin.

If the card you flip is a 20 Coin, the rest of the board will play out like
this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| F |  | S |  | U |  | F |  | 2 |  | M |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| 1 |  | M |  | 2 |  | U |  | M |  | 1 |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | F |  | S |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

However, if the card you flip is a 1-Up, go two spaces left and get the other
1-Up card. Go down one space and flip. It will either be a 20 Coin or another
Flower.

If the card you flip is a 20 Coin, the rest of the board will play out like
this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| F |  | 1 |  | U |  | F |  | U |  | M |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | M |  | 2 |  | S |  | M |  | 1 |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | F |  | 2 |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

If the card you flip is a Flower, the rest of the board will play out like this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| F |  | S |  | U |  | F |  | U |  | M |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| 1 |  | M |  | F |  | S |  | M |  | 1 |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | 2 |  | 2 |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

==== End "Top-left card: Flower" =============================

==== Top-left card: 1-Up =====================================

If your top-left flip is a 1-Up, then life is super-easy. There's only one
board that has the 1-Up in the top-left corner. Go right one space and two
spaces down to get the other 1-Up.

The rest of the board will play out like this:

-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| U |  | M |  | 1 |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| M |  | 1 |  | S |  | 2 |  | 2 |  | F |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
| S |  | U |  | F |  | M |  | F |  | S |
-----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

==== End "Top-left card: 1-Up" ===============================
