===================================DISCLAIMER==================================
I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com),
IGN (faqs.ign.com), Gamerhelp (www.gamerhelp.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com)
to host my FAQs from now on.
Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many
sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of
hassle in my mailbox.
So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please
let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks.

Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear
anywhere at the following URLs:

                                 (B) CONTROLS
###############################################################################

The controls for this game are very simple, and are as follows:

Left/Right - Moves your character [Samus] left or right.
Up - Angles your gun vertically, also used to climb up ledges when hanging from
     them.
Down - Used to crouch or morph into a ball form.

A - Jumps.
B - Fires your weapon.
L - Angles your gun diagonally upward while held [press down to angle the gun
    diagonally downward while holding L].
R - Hold this down and press B to fire missiles once you get them.

Start - Map screen, you can also check your status from here or engage sleep
        mode on the GBA.
Select - Toggle between missiles and super missiles.

Wall Jump - You can jump off of a wall if you jump towards it, then press the
opposite direction and the jump button as you touch the wall. The
timing can be difficult but with a little practice it will become
            an important skill.

Screw Attack - Before you have the item that lets you do this any time you can
actually do it with the charge beam. Just charge a shot and
               [spin] jump into an enemy.

Super Jump - Once you have the speed booster you can do one of two helpful
moves with it, this is one of them. Run until Samus starts
flashing, then press down to stay charged up for a brief period.
Now hold up and jump to make Samus shoot straight up into the air
             with blinding speed.

Shoulder Charge - This is another move that the speed booster lets you perform.
Basically you charge it up just like the super jump, then you
jump into the air and quickly push the direction [left,
right, diagonal] that you want to travel in.

Ball Charge - This is the third move that the speed booster lets you perform.
Basically you charge it up just like the super jump, then you
roll into a ball. Now quickly jump into the air now and press
the direction that you want to travel in.

(Taken from the game's intro)

"Emergency Order

Exterminate all Metroid organisms on planet Zebes...

And defeat the mechanical life-form, Mother Brain.

Planet Zebes... I called this place home once, in peaceful times, long before
evil haunted the caverns below. Now, I shall finally tell the tale of my first
battle here... My so-called Zero Mission.

###############################################################################

=======
Pickups
=======

Energy - These pulsing purple spheres restore some of your health if you have
         lost some.

Missiles - These missiles restore some missiles to your stock when picked up if
you are not already fully stocked.

=============
Suit Upgrades
=============

Missile Tank - Allows you to carry five more missiles than you could before.

Energy Tank - Adds 100 more units to your capacity for health.

Morph Ball - Allows you to roll into a ball, which lets you roll through narrow
             passages.

Long Beam - Makes the shots from your basic beam cannon go much farther.

Charge Beam - Lets you charge your shots into more powerful ones by holding B
              and releasing it.

Ice Beam - This allows your shots to freeze solid enemies before killing them.
This makes enemies easier to avoid since they stop moving, but you
can also use them as platforms when they're frozen.

Wave Beam - This beam can pass through many objects like enemies and walls.

Plasma Beam - This beam adds a lot more power to your shots.

Bombs - The only attack you can use when rolled in a ball, they're more helpful
for clearing away blocks though [and bomb jumping].

Power Bombs - These bombs damage every enemy that's on the screen when used,
and there are also certain blocks that only they can destroy.

Power Grip - This item allows you to grip the edges of platforms and ledges.
You can then shoot enemies while hanging there or pull yourself up
             onto the ledge, VERY helpful.

Speed Booster - This item allows Samus to run incredibly fast if she has enough
space to accelerate. There are also certain blocks that Samus
can only break while running with the speed booster.

You can also use the speed booster to launch yourself through
the air at blinding speeds. This is done by running until the
speed booster kicks in and Samus starts flashing.

At this point you press down to store the charge for a few
seconds, then jump into the air as Samus pauses for a moment.
Quickly press the direction that you want to travel in and
Samus will fly there until she hits something.

You can also launch yourself when rolled into a ball, but you
can only do this once you have the Hi-Jump.

Hi-Jump - These boots allow you to jump much higher than you could before, and
they also let you jump while rolled into a ball.

Screw attack - Samus can now damage or kill enemies by jumping [forward] into
them. There are also certain blocks that can only be destroyed
               by this item/attack.

Space Jump - This item allows you to jump repeatedly in the air and is VERY
             helpful.

Varia Suit - This suit reduces the damage that you take by half, and also
allows you to stand in acid without taking damage.

Gravity Suit - This suit further reduces the damage that you take from enemies,
and also allows you to stand in lava without taking any damage.
Finally the suit also lets you move underwater as if you were on
               dry land.

                           Bricklayer J. Gastronomy

When I refer to blue, green or red rooms, I'm talking about their colour on the
map screen. Similarly a 2x3 room for example would refer to a room on the map
that's two units wide and three units tall.

Brinstar
========

-----
Start
-----

Now that you have control of Samus you can try moving and jumping around, or
[ducking and] shooting some of the weak creatures with your gun. If you're
feeling confident you can even practice wall jumps if you want, it's a great
skill to learn early and they're described in detail in the controls section
above.

Either way head left and jump over the wall here to find a glowing item that
will be all too familiar to long time fans of the Metroid series of games. Go
ahead and touch the item to get your first suit upgrade, the Morph Ball.

"Double-tap down to take ball form and gain access to narrow passageways."

----------------
Ancient Secrets?
----------------

Follow the instructions to try out the Morph Ball as you roll under the same
wall that you jumped over earlier on your right. Head right as you blast some
more enemies, then shoot open the blue door and enter the next room.

Shoot out the ledge in front of you and kill the enemy, then go through the
door up ahead.

Take a few steps and notice the bat-like enemies hanging from the ceiling, they
drop to the ground and explode after a moment if you get too close. However
you can easily run under them without getting hit if you don't hesitate. You
could also stand your ground and fire up at them from below, it's your call
really.

Head right to the wall and roll into a ball to continue right and find your
first Chozo Statue. Jump into it's hands where you see a flashing blue light,
then morph into a ball. The creature starts glowing and shows a nearby
location on your map, then it recharges your energy and sits down.

Since the creature isn't gripping you tightly any more you should jump over it
and head through the door to your right.

Nothing much to do here at the moment, instead head right through the next
door.

This is your first Save Room, so step on the platform and press A to save your
game.

-----------
A Long Shot
-----------

Return left to the previous room and start jumping up the platforms until you
see a metallic beetle-like creature flying back and forth. This enemy cannot
be killed with your current weapon so don't waste time trying, just carefully
jump past it and continue your climb.

Jump up past more spiked enemies and another beetle until you see a door on
your right. Unfortunately you can't get inside the door right now, so continue
your climb and enter the first door on your left.

Rush past the bat and shoot the debris that's blocking the small passage in
front of you. Now roll into a ball and roll left through the passage, then run
past the bats on the other side and through the door.

Here's another one of those statues, only this one is holding something that
isn't you. Fire at the container and pick up your second item, the Long Beam.

"Fire long-distance shots with this beam. Press L + B to fire diagonally."

--------------
Easter Island?
--------------

Fire around the room as you enjoy your new toy, then roll into a ball on the
statues hands to get your energy recharged before going back through the door.

Run right past the bats once more, then jump onto the ledge in front of you and
shoot away the debris. Roll right until you can't go any farther, then jump up
into the room above.

Roll left under the platform and shoot away the debris above it, then jump up
to a pair of bats. Shoot or avoid them as you clear away more blocks to your
left and head that way to reach the next room.

Head left through the tunnel and jump up at the end, then turn left and notice
the bubbling acid. Don't fall in or you'll take some damage as it slowly
drains your health. Carefully use the platform to continue left, then jump
some more acid and head through the door beyond.

In this room you'll find nothing but creepy music and equally creepy giant
stone heads, at least for now so head back through the door on your right.

---------------------------
Weapons Of Mass Destruction
---------------------------

Work your way right over the platforms and acid until you reach a narrow
passage, then roll through it and get ready to meet a new enemy. This armored
leaping enemy can hurt you pretty easily so you need to act fast. Drop to the
ground as he does the same, then crouch and fire as fast as you can to get rid
of him quickly. Catch your breath and grab any health if he left some, then go
through the door on your right.

Roll into the statue's hands here to get the usual energy recharge and a hint
of where you should be heading next, then go right to the next room.

Carefully work your way down the platforms in this shaft until you reach the
second beetle, then shoot the blocks to your left and continue your descent.
Go down past the door on your left and stop when you see the door on your right
that's blocked by debris, the debris that your shots couldn't reach before
remember? Use your improved weapon to get rid of the blocks and roll through
the passage, then go through the door to the next room.

Nothing to do in this tube, so just keep going right to the next room.

Head right and gaze at your reflection in the bulletproof red door as you
realize that you can't open these types of doors just yet. Drop down the shaft
instead, then roll through the passage and go through the door to your right
for a save room.

Return to the shaft and carefully work your way past the enemies to the very
bottom, then go through the door on your right.

Head right until you reach a small acid pit, then kill a couple of the enemies
that come from it if you need some health. Otherwise continue right and jump
across the narrow platforms to get your first missile tank.

"Press R + B to fire. Opens red hatches."

----------------
You've Got Worms
----------------

This missile tank [any others that you find allow you to carry 5 more missiles
than you could before] allows you to carry and fire five missiles, and now
defeated enemies will sometimes drop missiles instead of health. You now have
a new toy to play with, so go nuts and then kill the enemies that generate in
the acid pit to your left to replenish your health and missiles when you're
ready to get moving.

Head left past the falling rocks until a giant creature blocks you from going
any further, then blocks you from going back right. You're now stuck with
nowhere to go, and it's time for your first boss battle.

----------
BOSS: Worm
----------

This giant worm alternates between thrusting his head down at wherever you're
standing [which is avoided by moving left or right of it] and firing four
spikes slowly down at you [which are just as easily avoided]. You know when
the worm is about to thrust his head down because his pincers open twice, so
watch for that, then move out of the way.

After he finishes thrusting his head down at you, the worm opens his eye and
pulls his head up again. Take this moment to get below his head and fire a
missile at his eye.

Repeat this until you've hit the worm in the eye with two missiles, then hide
either left or right of the head but NOT in the middle. The worm should pull
into the ceiling and then burrow down past you, finishing the battle for now.

[If you're fast enough through you can kill the worm here and get the Charge
Beam, otherwise he escapes and you'll fight him again a little later.]

-------
Charge!
-------

Go left to the shaft and attack some enemies for health and missiles as you
climb to the nearby save room and use it. Now return to the shaft and start
climbing until you reach the red door on your left. Use one of your missiles
to open it up, then go onward to the room beyond.

Shoot the flies that keep coming down from the ceiling here as you carefully
jump over the acid pits. Keep heading right until you reach the door, then go
through to the next room.

Kill any of the flies in this small room if you want, otherwise head right to
the next one.

Jump onto the bump ahead of you and jump right to a platform above, now make a
note of the little bump in the wall on your left. Jump to that bump and jump
left through the wall, then fire a missile or two [or a lot of basic shots] at
the fly nest to get rid of it and grab the missile tank beyond.

Return to the nearest platform and get rid of another fly nest to your right,
then jump to the ledge that it was on and jump a gap beyond. Get rid of
another fly nest and jump right, then go through the door below you.

There's nothing to do in this small room for now, so continue right to the next
one.

Shoot away the wall in front of you and crouch down while shooting to collect
another missile tank. Head right from here to meet up with a familiar giant
worm creature.

----------
BOSS: Worm
----------

If you're very quick you can fire a missile at the worm's eye when he first
appears in the middle at the start of the fight, because he opens it for a
second.

This boss has the exact same pattern as he had the first time that you fought
him so attack him in exactly the same way. However this time the worm dies
when you hit it with three missiles.

Collect all the missiles and health left behind by the worm, but also grab the
Charge Beam.

"Hold B to charge. Release to fire. Charge Attack: Jump with a full charge."

[If you were still too slow and the worm escaped again, then you'll find him in
the room where you fought him the first time.]

-------------
Energy Shake?
-------------

Head right and carefully jump over the acid, then grab your very first energy
tank. This adds another 100 units of energy [represented by a red square] to
your health, so you can survive longer.

--------------------
Let Me See That Bomb
--------------------

Shoot the bat and the wall beyond him as you jump the gap. Cross more acid as
you shoot through another wall and kill two more bats, then go through the door
beyond to the next room.

Drop to the bottom of the shaft and use a missile to get through the door
there.

Walk up to the machine in your first map room to get the map data for Brinstar,
then return to the previous room. Climb the shaft up past the door that you
came through earlier, then enter the next door on your left.

Shoot your way through the enemies as you head left to the save room.

Return to the previous room and start climbing, then enter the door above.

Jump up to the ledge and roll through the passage, then use a missile to get
through the door.

Shoot open the container that the familiar statue is holding and grab the
bombs.

"Press B in Morph Ball form to set."

-------------
On To Norfair
-------------

Roll into a ball on the statue's hands to get your health AND missiles
restored, then roll into the passage under the statue. Now use your bombs to
clear away the blocks and roll left.

Set a bomb below the grey block [these are what the blocks that only bombs can
destroy look like, and I'll call them bomb blocks from now on], then set a
bunch of bombs so you can bounce to the passage above. Repeat this for the
next bomb block to reach the top of the room, then collect the missile tank.

Roll to the bottom passage and back right, then open the door and head on
through.

Roll through the passage ahead of you and use your bombs on the small tower of
bomb blocks to drop a bunch of parasites onto you. Normally these enemies are
harmless, but when enough of them latch on to you they start draining your
health.

However now you have a defense against this, so start setting off bombs until
all the parasites are dead. This should make the nearby door start flashing,
which means that you can now open it. So do exactly that and head for the
nearby save room.

Return to the previous room and kill the enemies as you go right to the shaft.

Drop down to the door below you, then go left to the hallway beyond it.

Jump back across the acid and kill the bats just like you did it before, then
go through the door to the next room.

Use your bombs to get rid of the parasites and the blocks in the middle of the
room, then carefully work your way down the shaft below [kill any enemies if
you need missiles/health] and enter the door at the bottom.

Crouch and shoot like crazy to quickly get rid of the swarm of enemies, then
head left and use a missile to get through the door that's waiting for you.

Climb into the statue's hands and roll into a ball to get your health and
missiles restored and a hint to where to head next before going back through
the door.

Kill the swarm of enemies once more and continue right to the shaft.

Climb to the top of the shaft and use bombs to reach the doors, then head left
to the next room.

jump up the ledges and work your way left through this large room to the small
one beyond.

Set a series of bombs near the left end of the room to create a hole in the
floor, then hug the right wall as you fall down the shaft to land above a
missile tank.

What you need to do here is roll into a ball and fall off the left side of this
small ledge, then you need to set a bomb beside the missile tank as you fall to
get rid of the bomb block. Now quickly jump onto the ledge on your left and
the one above it, then jump back above the missile tank. Now roll into a ball
and off the ledge once more as you hold right to drop inside the small passage
and grab the sweet missile tank.

Enjoy these extra five missiles because you certainly earned them! Now climb
back up the shaft and take the left door as you use the save room in that
direction.

Return to the shaft and carefully work your way to the bottom, before going
through the door on your right.

Head right and stock up on health and missiles by killing the enemies spawning
from the acid pit if needed. Continue right as you jump across the narrow
platforms, then jump to the ledge near the ceiling and roll into the passage.
Use a bomb to get rid of the blocks in your way, then roll to the next ledge.
Head right past more acid and the enemies that spawn from it, then go through
the door ahead.

Step onto the elevator in this room and press down to ride it down into
Norfair.

=======
Norfair
=======

-------------
Slight Detour
-------------

Drop to either side of the elevator and set some bombs, then drop through the
floor to the doors below and take the right one for a save room.

Head left to the long room and kill the enemies that spawn from the pipes for
some supplies if needed. Continue left as you jump across platforms and kill
some flaming enemies. Sooner or later you should spot a missile tank in the
air which you can either get now with some effort, or come back later once you
have a few items that make getting it easier.

If you want the missiles now you can do the bomb jump, which basically involves
rolling into a ball and setting bombs at a constant rate. At the proper speed
one bomb will launch you into the air and the one that you set in there will
launch you even higher in the air until you reach the desired height. It's can
be an annoying skill to learn, but it is pretty valuable. If you don't want to
bother with the bomb jump, simply come back here once you have the power grip.

Continue left as you kill a couple of flying enemies, then use a pair of bombs
to roll through the wall that's in your way. Jump onto the nearby ledge and
roll through the tunnel to another ledge, then shoot more enemies as you go
through the door up ahead.

Jump up the shaft here and ride the elevator at the top to Crateria.

========
Crateria
========

-----------
Chozo Ruins
-----------

Shoot through the wall on your right and go through the door beyond.

Drop into the water ahead of you and kill the nearby fish, then shoot the block
on your left that looks out of place. Use your bombs to tunnel through the
rock on your left, then kill a fish. Shoot all over the left wall to uncover a
missile tank, then grab it.

Go back to the surface of the water and jump to the dry land where you started.
Now jump to the nearby platform and right to the next one before jumping left
to yet another platform. Use a bomb on the blocks as you jump left to an
alcove, then jump on the platform and shoot the rocks above you to get rid of
them. Now roll left through the passage and jump up to the next room.

Use bombs to work your way right through the tunnel, then set a bomb above the
tunnel below you to get down into it before heading through the nearby door.

Ignore the missiles here for now and grab the Unknown Item from the statue up
ahead.

"Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit."

This item is actually the Plasma Beam, but you won't be able to use it until
much later on in the game.

Roll into the statue's hands to get your health and weapons restored, then head
left as you shoot away the large blocks. Bomb just left of the block that's
covering the missiles, then get rid of that block and grab the missiles. Jump
out of the water once more and go back through the door to your left.

Roll left to the wall and set a few bombs to continue left a little, then wait
for the blocks to reappear. Now roll yourself under the large block and use a
bomb to get rid of it. Jump up the series of platforms on your left and enter
the nearby door in the large bird statue's mouth.

Head left as the ground gives way under you and you fall down a pit, then bomb
the left wall and some blocks inside to roll left to the next room.

Not much to do here except take the Power Grip from the interesting-looking
statue here.

"Grab and hang from ledges and corners."

----------
All Aboard
----------

This item makes is VERY helpful and it makes platform jumping MUCH easier, so
test it out as you grab the ledge to your right and roll into the previous
room.

Roll right and bomb through the wall as a pillar rises in the background, then
start jumping up the platforms. Once at the top you should go through the door
to your left.

Shoot the 2x2 block as you jump left across the pillars, then shoot the block
at the top of the pillar by the door. Grab hold of the ledge and pull yourself
up into a ball, then use bombs to get to the door below as you head through it.

Head left as you leap off the cliff to the ground below. Now enter your ship
to restock on energy and weapons as well as save your game, then go through the
door to your right.

----------
Brisk Walk
----------

Avoid the beetle as you jump over the water, then grab hold of the ledge above
and use bombs on the nearby block. Now that the block is gone you can easily
continue right to the next room, just watch out for the other beetle.

Nothing more to do here in Crateria for now so just take the elevator back down
to Norfair.

=======
Norfair
=======

-----------
Cool As Ice
-----------

Drop down the shaft as low as you can, then grab the ledge to your left and
roll through the passage. Continue your descent as you kill some enemies, then
enter the door to your right.

Head right as you kill a swarm of flying enemies, then continue right to find
some spawning enemies. Kill them for some supplies if you need some, otherwise
jump over some platforms to your right as you kill some flaming enemies.
Continue right and greet some more flying enemies with your weapon of choice as
you collect the missile tank up ahead.

Return to the shaft and head right to the closest save room on your map, then
go right to the next room.

Head right and grab the ledge above before pulling yourself up, then jump
across the platforms as you head right over the wall. Drop down the other side
and carefully jump the spitting enemy, then jump up the next set of platforms
on your right as work your way over another wall. Watch out for another
spitter as you drop down the other side of the wall, then continue right
through the door ahead to reach a shaft.

Kill a couple enemies and avoid a beetle as you climb up the shaft, then enter
the first door on your left.

Carefully jump across the platforms to make it across the acid pit [usually
you'll end up grabbing the platforms as you fall instead of landing on them],
then take the door on the other side.

jump to the nearby ledge and shoot open the container, then grab the Ice Beam
from inside.

"This beam can freeze enemies in place. You can safely stand on frozen
enemies."

----------------
Back To Brinstar
----------------

Roll under the statue to the left wall and use bombs to enter another area,
then freeze the beetle that's above you. Jump onto the frozen beetle to use
him as a platform, then jump the wall on your left and go through the door.

Ignore this shaft for now as you jump carefully across the acid and use the
save room on your left.

Return to the previous room and jump up the pair of platforms, then freeze the
beetle above you and jump on it. Wait for the second beetle above you to get
close, then angle your gun and freeze that beetle. Quickly jump to the second
beetle, then angle your gun and freeze the third beetle. Jump to that beetle
next and jump from him to the door on your right before entering the room
beyond.

Walk to the end of the ledge and crouch, then fire rapidly to freeze the
leaping enemy. Jump from the enemy to get over the wall, then freeze another
leaping enemy and jump from him to the statue. Roll into a ball in the
statue's hands to get your health and energy restored, as well as a clue to
where you should head next.

Jump over the statue and head right, then freeze the three leaping enemies one
at a time as you use them as platforms to get through the door ahead.

Drop to the ground and run to the wall on your right, then aim up and freeze a
beetle when it's touching the wall. Quickly freeze the other beetle more or
less hallway between the other frozen one and the narrow platform, then jump up
to that platform and quickly use the frozen beetles to get over the wall.

Drop right and walk to the right wall, then freeze the beetle above you when
he's touching the right wall. Shoot through the wall and freeze the lower
beetle when he's close to the one above you, then jump from the lower beetle to
the higher one. Jump and shoot down at this beetle if he begins to thaw, then
roll into a ball and set a few bombs against the wall to find a missile tank.
Drop to the ground once more and head through the door on your right.

Shoot the enemy and avoid the beetle as you go right and fall through the
ground, then carefully drop to the bottom of the shaft and head left through
the big 6x2 room to reach the save room beyond.

Head left to the shaft and freeze the pair of beetles above, then use them as
platforms to reach the elevator before riding it up to Brinstar.

Uncharted Territory
-------------------

Head left to the closest shaft and climb up to the nearby save room.

Return to the shaft and climb a little higher as you go through the door on
your left to another shaft, then carefully work your way down until you meet a
beetle. Freeze the beetle and jump off him to reach an alcove on your left,
then set a bomb and drop inside as you roll left into a hidden room.

Shoot spikey enemies and bats as you head left and drop through the ground,
then use some bombs on the parasites before they drain too much of your health.
Roll right and get rid of any more enemies before grabbing the missile tank on
your left. Roll right and fall to the bottom of this area, then roll right to
return to the shaft.

Carefully drop to the bottom of the shaft and use the save room on your right,
then enter the room to the left of the shaft.

Roll left and use the statue to restore your health and missiles if needed,
then roll left under the wall and shoot a few bats. Walk back right to the
wall that you rolled under, then shoot up at the ceiling [about 3-4 blocks away
from the wall] to uncover an energy tank.

You can get this energy tank right now by using the bomb jump or you can come
back later when you have the hi-jump. The choice is yours, but I highly
recommend that you use the bomb jump to get the energy tank now. Either way
continue left to the end of the room and go through the door there.

Bomb the floor below you in this room and carefully work your way down to the
bottom of the shaft, then go through the door on your right and take the
elevator down.

Deadly Cartography

Stick to the left side of the shaft as you descend a little, then use the save
room on your left. Roll to the left wall and use bombs to get you into a
tunnel, then roll left to a hidden room.

Use bombs to get through the tunnel, then simply jump up to the missile tank
before returning to the shaft right of the save room.

Carefully drop down to the bottom of the shaft, then shoot the blue blocks on
the ground. Continue your drop down to what's REALLY the bottom of the shaft,
then go through the door on your left.

Angle your gun up as you kill a few leapers in here as well as some enemies
spawning from a pipe, then got left to the next room.

Carefully jump over the platform here, then use a missile to get through the
red door.

Approach the machine ahead of you to get the map data for Kraid, then return to
the previous room.

------------
Pickup Lines
------------

Roll under the platform this time to fall into a device that you haven't seen
yet, then set a bomb and watch as the device launches you straight up at super
speeds. Drop to the left or right after you hit the ceiling, then go through
the door to your right.

You can't get the missile tank in this room until you've completed a certain
task, so drop down to the ledge below and angle your gun down to help kill some
leapers. Drop to the bottom of the room and kill any remaining leapers, then
jump up the right wall and go through the door there.

Work your way up the shaft and use the save room at the top, then return to the
shaft and [use a missile to ] go through the red door that's right of the save
room.

Carefully jump across the platforms that are hanging over the acid, then
collect the missile tank in front of you. Continue right to a purple wall,
then shoot through it and kill the leapers beyond. Head right some more and
kill some spawning pipe enemies if you want, otherwise shoot through some more
walls as you kill more leapers and enter the door beyond.

Roll to the wall in front of you and set a bomb to drop into the area below,
then set another bomb on one of the three cracked blocks. Drop into the
launcher and set a bomb to get launched into the air, then drop left when you
hit the block above.

Roll into a ball and drop into the passage that you just flew up through, but
hold left as you fall so that you land in a small passage. Follow the passage
left and right, then grab the missile tank.

Roll right to drop back to where you started, then work your way back to the
launcher and up to where it sent you earlier before you took this little
detour. Jump against the right wall to grip a small alcove, then shoot any
nearby enemies before jumping left to a similar alcove. Shoot any enemies
before jumping right to a third alcove, then shoot diagonally up to reveal
another alcove before jumping left to it. jump right to the top of the wall
now and continue your climb, then enter the door on your left.

Angle your gun up and shoot the pair of cracked blocks, then get rid of any
spawning enemies currently in your way before jumping left and over the wall.
Head left past more spawning enemies and jump over the pool of acid, then head
left through the door that awaits you.

Shoot away the blocks in front of you before rolling into a ball, then fall
down the shaft and try to set a bomb by the blue block on your right as you
fall. If you don't manage to do this you can easily use the launcher below to
try again, then once the block is destroyed you can hold right on the way down
from a launch to enter the passage there. Use a bomb on another block and get
rid of the enemies, then use a missile to get through the door.

Jump onto the T-shaped platform and stand in the hole, then roll into a ball to
light up the red ball above you and get some power flowing into it. Shoot the
red ball [switch] to bring a zipline over to you, then jump up to the zipline
and ride it right to an energy tank. Continue riding the zipline across the
gap and shoot a few enemies that spawn from behind you, then go through the
door and use the save room there.

------------
Inch By Inch
------------

Go right to the shaft and walk right to the wall as you drop down, then enter
the door to your left.

This small room has nothing of value, so just continue left to the next room.

Jump to the pair of blocks and take a breath as a boss is coming up, then ride
the zipline to start the battle.

---------------
BOSS: Acid Worm
---------------

This boss opens it's mouth a twice before lunging at you, but you can turn the
tables by using the zipline. If you use the zipline to avoid the boss's lunge,
then it will get momentarily stuck in the block while you are high and dry.
Take this moment to unload about five missiles at the red portion of the boss's
head/neck.

Once you've hit him enough the boss will introduce a new attack [in addition to
the lunge], which is indicated by him shaking below with his mouth open. When
this happens you need to quickly jump to the highest block of whatever side
you're on. This way you'll be safe as the acid rises and falls again, at which
point you can drop to the lower block and get ready to avoid a pair of lunges.

When countering these lunges you can probably only get three missiles in before
the boss descends, so keep this in mind. Keep up with this pattern and the
boss should die fairly soon and take a lot of the acid with him.

-----------------------------------
In Space No One Can Hear You Scream
-----------------------------------

Collect the missiles and health after the battle, then drop down and set a few
bombs to enter a chamber below. Jump across the platforms on your left, then
crouch and shoot up at the corner to break a block. Jump to the opening and
grab hold, then pull yourself up and roll left to a hidden room.

Use a bomb to get rid of the blocks, then kill the enemies in here. Now simply
jump up to the missile tank and head back to the previous room once you have
it.

Climb to the top of the room and go through the left door, then use the
launcher and work your way back to the save room [and use it].

Go right to the shaft and drop down to the level with the breakable blue
blocks, then enter the door on your left.

Kill the leapers at the bottom of this room and jump up a pair of platforms
then jump above the zipline switch. Roll into a ball and set a bunch of bomb
above the switch, this sets of the switch and bounces you up to the zipline [as
a ball]. Wait until you are above the missile tank, then quickly press the
jump button to drop onto it.

Exit the room through the right door, then climb up the shaft a bit and take
the first door on your left.

Shoot the pair of blocks above the grey blocks, then jump and grab that gap
before rolling into it. Use bombs to continue left through the passage, then
jump up to the zipline and ride it left. Shoot the blocks on your left before
you hit them, then drop at the end of the ride and go through the door.

Carefully climb up the small shaft and enter the door on your right at the top.

Pump the giant leaper here with a flurry of missiles to get rid of him, then
pick up the health and missiles that he leaves behind. Jump up the right wall
and roll through, then jump up above the next giant leaper. Roll left and drop
down, then rain missiles on the leaper until it dies. You can hide on the
blocks above if needed, but you should be able to kill him before he gets
close. Pick up the leftover goodies once the leaper dies, then go through the
door on your left.

Roll left and use a bomb to get into the passage, then roll left and drop onto
the missile tank. Now carefully work your way down to the bottom of the shaft
and notice the acid below. Bomb the ground and drop past the acid and down the
shaft below in a neat fade effect, then enter the door at the bottom.

There's nothing to do here but admire the room, so go right to the next one.

Use a missile to open the door ahead of you, then walk through it.

Head right and kill the pair of leapers, then jump to the ledge above and roll
into a ball. Set a bomb in the middle of the grey blocks to reveal a launcher,
then launch yourself from it to get rid of the blocks above. Head right and
do the same thing to find and use two more launchers, then go right a little
more and hit the zipline switch to bring it over to you.

Bomb the ground under the zipline to reveal yet another launcher, then use it
to launch yourself into the zipline. Finally ride the zipline left past the
enemies and into the waiting missile tank. Drop to the ground now and go back
left through the door.

Set a bomb by the left door and drop down the passage to the room below.

Set a bomb by the right wall and drop down the hole, then get rid of some
spawning enemies as you go right. Jump onto the small green ledge and shoot
the blocks above you, then jump up and shoot the top of the right wall. Jump
up to the hole that you made and roll right through the passage to the next
room.

Roll right and drop to the floor, then open the container and grab the Unknown
Item.

"Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit."

This item is actually the Space Jump, but you won't be able to use it until
much later on in the game.

--------------------
Meteoric Extinction?
--------------------

Restore your health and missiles in the statue's hands, then shoot the block on
your left and continue that way until you reach [and use] a save room.

Return to the previous room and work your way to the right side, then shoot the
blocks above you and jump to the tunnel that leads left. Roll through the
tunnel and bomb the block in your way, then kill a few enemies before entering
the door above.

Slowly work your way right as you kill leapers and flying enemies, then go
through the door at the end and use the save room there.

Go through the right door and bomb the cracked block on the ground, then drop
down the hole to reach a room below.

Head up the hill while shooting enemies, then jump left across the platforms
and shoot away the purple blocks. Now jump the gap and enter the door ahead of
you.

The creature on the nearby door means that a boss is coming. Wait for the
enemy to open it's eye and fire a missile in its eye, then collect the items
left behind and use a missile to enter the boss's room beyond.

-----------
BOSS: Kraid
-----------

For the first part of this battle Kraid only really has one attack, firing
slow-moving finger nails at you. These are easily shot down and often leave
behind items that you can pick up, so they're not much of a threat.

You need to shoot Kraid in the eyes with either a charged shot or a missile to
get him to open his mouth in pain for a few seconds. Once his mouth is open
you need to fire missiles inside it.

Once you've got four missiles in Kraid's mouth he fires some spiked darts out
his belly buttons, which destroy the platform that you were standing on. The
darts stay stuck in the wall and can be used as platforms until they start
flashing and disappear. Try to jump up to the grey platform above before the
darts disappear or you'll fall to the ground floor and have to work your way
back up.

Kraid now adds a third attack [in addition to the toenails and stomach darts]
to his pattern. Every so often he swings his arm at you, when you're standing
on the grey platform. The attack is avoided by staying far back on the
platform, or even jumping back and landing on it once more.

Despite these new attacks you still damage Kraid in the same way, so keep
feeding him missiles.

After you get six missiles in Kraid's mouth he fires a stomach dart that
destroys your little grey platform. Now when Kraid fires his stomach darts,
he fires them three at a time. So you need to use them as platforms and launch
your attacks from the highest dart.

It's really not that hard though, you just need to remember that the darts
disappear after a while and then you have to climb up some new ones. Otherwise
just unload four more missiles into Kraid's mouth to end the battle.

Collect the leftover items and roll left after the battle, then bomb the blocks
and roll to the next room.

Approach the statue and shoot open the container, then grab the speed booster
from inside.

"Run until speed boost begins to break certain blocks and damage enemies"

--------------------------------------------------------
I Think It Was Called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down"
--------------------------------------------------------

Roll into the statue's hands to get your energy and missiles restored, then
walk to the left wall beneath the statue. Now run right as your speed booster
kicks in and don't stop until you're at the top of the hill in the larger room
ahead.

Now open the door in front of you, but don't go through it yet. Instead run
all the way down the hill and turn around. Run up the hill to activate your
speed booster and keep running through the open door as you blast through a
wall in the next room.

Now jump up to the beetles above, then freeze them to use them as platforms as
you shoot out 3-block sections of the blue wall and jump through it. Wait for
the blocks to form once more, then shoot out another three in a row to continue
your climb. Use this strategy to reach the first door on your left, then enter
it.

Run into the next room and use your speed booster to blast through some
spawning enemies, then jump across the series of platforms until you reach the
other side of the acid. Crouch and shoot the left wall to find a missile tank,
then roll left to get it and return to the shaft.

Jump up the pair of platforms and use the save room on your right, then return
to the shaft and take the left door.

Jump onto the platform and face right as you ride the zipline, then fire a few
missiles to get rid of the swarm of enemies that's following you. Shoot the
block on your left once you land safely, then roll through the tunnel and use a
bomb before heading through the door.

Climb up the shaft [use wall jumps if you want to save some time] and use a
missile to get through the red door on your right.

Start running as your speed booster kicks in and destroys the enemies around
you, then continue running across the crumbling blocks and jump off the last
one as you fly through the air and break some blocks at the other end of the
room. Shoot the switch above you and roll into a ball as you grab the nearby
energy tank. Bomb your way out of the hole and ride the zipline back left,
then go back through the nearby door to the shaft.

Use the save room above you, then take the elevator up to Brinstar.

Lock and Load

Watch the wall crumble way on your right, then kill some enemies as you walk
through it and use a missile to get through the door beyond.

Roll into the statue's hands to get your health and missiles restored and to
get a hint of where you should be going next, then return to the elevator and
take the door on your left.

Carefully work your way up to the top of the shaft, then head right and use the
nearby save room on your map.

Climb the nearby shaft until you see the first beetle, then jump to the ledge
just right of it. Jump against the right wall as Samus grabs the edge of a
hidden tunnel, then pull yourself up and roll right into it.

Set a bomb by the right wall, then roll underneath and bomb your way under the
beetles. Freeze one of them against the left wall, then jump off him to reach
the missile tank above. Drop back down and freeze the beetles if you want,
then use bombs to roll right into the next room.

Roll right until you can't roll any more, then use a bomb to get out of the
tunnel. Work your way up to the save room above you, then climb all the way up
to the door at the top of this shaft.

Instead of opening the door though, jump to the nearby platform and freeze the
lower beetle on your left. Jump on the beetle and freeze the next beetle when
he's close to the left wall. Now jump on that beetle and jump to the tunnel at
the top of the left wall, then pull yourself up and roll inside.

Now simply roll down the small hill and grab the missile tank in front of you,
then roll back right and use a bomb to get back to the shaft.

Carefully drop all the way down the shaft, then head right to the elevator and
take it down to Norfair.

These Boots Are Made For...
---------------------------

Head for the bottom of the shaft and use the save room on your right, then
enter the room on your right.

Work your way through this room exactly like you've done before, until you
reach the gradual slope near the end. Start running right at this point and
shoot ahead as you run, this way you shoot open the door ahead and run through
with your speed booster.

Continue running in the next room as you break a few blocks in the floor, then
drop down and go through the door on your left.

Shoot through the platform on your left and go that way until you reach some
acid, then turn around and run back towards the door as your speed booster
activates. Shoot the door as you run towards it, then run through the floor in
the next room.

Drop down the shaft and enter the door on your left.

Shoot the group of diving enemies ahead of you and jump across the acid, then
use a missile to get through the door.

Approach the statue in here and open the container, then grab the much-needed
Hi-Jump.

"Increases maximum jump height. Adds Morph Ball jumping capability."

------------------
15% Restocking Fee
------------------

Roll in the statue's hands to get your health and missiles restored, then go
right to the shaft.

Jump to the tunnel above the right wall and roll through, then hug the right
wall as you drop on a missile tank below. Drop to the bottom of the shaft and
shoot the right wall, then ignore the door for now and jump up the wall as you
enter a different door above.

Roll into the statue's hands to get your health and missiles restored and
another hint, then jump up to the door above and go through it.

Jump over the wall to reveal a launcher, then use it to launch yourself up most
of the shaft. Drop down a bit and go through the door on your left to the next
room.

Head left and set a bomb above the enemy that's jumping out of the acid below,
then get out of the way. Freeze the enemy when he's in the air, then jump off
him to reach a platform above and a missile tank to your right. Now continue
left to the nearby save room before taking the elevator up to Brinstar.

-----------
Weed Killer
-----------

Head left through the blue 9x1 room until you reach the door at the left end of
it, then get ready for a REALLY hard super missile tank [unless you don't want
to get it, in that case just skip the next section].

Walk right to the closest wall and turn around, then run left and shoot open
the door as your speed booster activates. Duck before you hit the wall in the
next room to store the charge, then quickly shoot open the door on your right
and go back through it. Quickly shoot the door open and roll into a ball, then
go right of the small bump in the ground by the door and jump into the air ever
so slightly before pushing left.

This sends you flying left up the small bump and through the open door, then
you barrel through the wall in the next room and into the hidden room where you
got a missile tank earlier.

Crouch once you break through the two beetles and a pair of blocks to store the
charge once more, then quickly roll left to the shaft. Drop to the ground and
stand up again then do a SPIN JUMP onto the platform on your left [if you do a
standing jump you will lose the charge and have to start all over], then
quickly roll into a ball again and jump ever so slightly before pressing left.

This should send you flying right into the tunnel in the wall as you break
through a row of blocks. Now you can catch your breath and grab the
well-earned super missile tank.

Either way you should go use the save point that's midway up the right shaft at
this point, then go to the top of that shaft and head through the door there.

Kill the enemies ahead of you while shooting the metal pods in the red stripe
so you can roll under them. Set a bomb at the wall as you fire a few warning
shots into the pipes, then roll through the highest pipe until you land on the
platform beyond. Jump right above the weird pulsing plant and use bombs to
enter the tunnel above, then roll right and go through the door.

Just go straight through this room to the next one, then go through that room
and use the save room beyond.

Head right to the next room and shoot some spawning enemies before jumping over
the acid and grabbing the nearby missile tank. Now go back left and use the
save room, then go left to the next room.

Kill the enemy and wait one square left of the closest red light in the
ceiling, then shoot up to get rid of a trio of blocks. Jump up through the gap
and shoot the top block on your right, then jump up again and climb up. Wait
until the blocks reappear, then stand one block left of where you created your
gap from below. If you go left any more you'll fall back to the ground below,
so do a jump and grab the ledge on your left instead. Jump and shoot the pair
of blocks above you, then continue your climb and kill the enemy before going
through the nearby door.

Simply wait here as you watch the parasites kill two of those pulsing plant
enemies, then use your bombs to get rid of the parasites. Jump over the wall
in ball form, then jump to the passage above and hold the jump button down
until you've gone as far left as you can. Drop to the platform below and jump
across the crumbling blocks, then grip the passage above before rolling left
and using a bomb on the blocks that are holding up the parasites. Let them get
rid of the pulsing plant, then jump over the wall and bomb them all. Now use a
missile to get through the door on your left.

Approach the statue and shoot open the container like usual, then grab the
Varia Suit from inside.

"Decreases damage taken from enemies. Prevents damage from acid and heat."

Roll into the statue's hands to get your health and missiles restored, then
return to the previous room.

Head right and fall through the crumbling block into the acid, then go right
and bomb between the rocks on the flat portion to create a hole there. Drop
into the hole and crouch, then fire a few shots left to clear away some blocks.
Finally roll left and jump up to the energy tank waiting there. Get out of the
acid and go back to the closest save room.

Now head right until you pass the spot where you got a missile tank, then
continue right to a tunnel in the wall. Roll through the tunnel and shot the
red stripe to raise the pod, then roll into all the parasites but DON'T KILL
THEM. Instead roll back through the pipe into the acid below, then shoot the
blocks and drop down to a pulsing plant. Let the parasites kill the plant,
then go through the pipe beyond to reach the next room.

Jump out of the acid and onto dry land again, then roll into the nearby
statue's hands to get your health and missiles restored as well as a hint of
where to go next. Head right past bats and spawning enemies, then use the door
when you come to it.

Carefully drop down the shaft, then work your way to the Norfair elevator and
use a save room on the way before riding it down.

Head down the shaft and use the nearby save room, then work your way right to
the shaft, [remembering that you need to use the speed booster to get lower].
Use the speed booster to work your way lower, then enter the room where you got
the hi-jump [beside a blue 2x1 room].

Get your energy and missiles restored here, then roll left under the statue to
reach the next room.

Bomb your way through a pair of blocks, then set some more bombs left of them
to make a hole above you. Jump through the hole to the tunnel above and bomb
left of you to get out on to the ledge. Jump left from the end of the ledge to
grab the wall, then avoid the jumping enemy as you go left through the door.

Head left and kill all of the flying enemies, then kill the ground enemies as
you clear away all the blocks with your gun and bombs. Head back right to the
door and shoot the lone block if it reappears, then run left to start your
speed booster and jump at the top of the curved ramp to fly through the wall
ahead. Kill any enemies if you want, then drop left and head through the door
there.

Pump the large leaper full of missiles and collect the goodies that he leaves
behind, then continue on and use the save room ahead of you.

Head to the next room and bomb by the door to make a hole, then drop down and
head through the left door.

Shoot the spawning enemies as you work your way left, then enter the door once
you reach it.

Drop into the fake lava if needed, then use a missile to open the left door and
get the map data from the map room.

Return to the previous room and drop into the fake lava, then shoot the enemies
as you head left and drop down a little more. Shoot the blocks on your right
and carefully drop down the right side of the shaft, then enter the door on
your right.

Angle your gun down as you approach the first gap to shoot the lava enemy, then
jump across the platforms as you shoot the divers and other enemies. Once
you're safely across the lava you should head through the nearby door.

Shoot the ground near the right door and drop down the shaft below, then enter
the door on your right.

Freeze the jumping enemies if needed as you jump over the lava and reach a
small wall, then freeze the next jumper as you cross the gap. Roll into a ball
and jump into the air as you set some bombs above you to uncover a missile tank
there, then grab the missile tank and continue right. Jump across more
platforms while avoiding leapers and other enemies, then grab a second missile
tank in plan view at the end of the room.

Return to the small shaft in the previous room and climb to the top, then go
through the right door.

Shoot the divers and vines here until you reach a diver caught in a vine, then
use a pair of missiles to destroy it. Continue right past more vines and
divers, then head through the door up ahead and continue to the save room
beyond.

Return to the previous room and shoot the ground near the left door, then drop
into the fake lava and enter the door at the bottom.

Use bombs to get rid of the walls here and missiles to kill the large leaper,
then use a missile to get through the door ahead.

Approach the statue like you've done many times before and break open the
container to find the Wave Beam.

"This beam, which is made up of energy waves, can pass through solid objects."

-----------------------------------------
Fight Fire With Fire and Slugs With Slugs
-----------------------------------------

Use the statue to restore your health and missiles, then return to the nearby
save room and head through the right door.

Kill the spawning enemies ahead and jump the gap, then run right and shoot
while your speed booster kicks in and you run through the door ahead.

Jump into the tunnel and roll under the large slug, then fire up at him from
below to kill him. Go collect the health and missiles left behind by the slug,
then roll right and drop to the ground.

Head right until the slug ahead of you raises it's head then run left as it
charges at you [as long as you're touching the wall it won't hit you]. Fire a
few shots at the slug to get it to back up a bit, then roll into a ball and
wait for it to raise it's head, quickly set a few bombs and roll back left as
the slug charges and your bombs explode below him. Repeat this until the slug
dies, then collect the goodies that he leaves behind.

Head right to the slug's cocoon and fire into the ceiling to reveal an energy
tank, then fire a missile below the tank to create a hole. Jumping up and grab
the energy tank, then open the door and go left to the wall.

Now run right through the door as your speed booster activates and you break
through the floor in the next room. Kill the enemy if you want, then jump up
the left wall and grab a missile tank. Drop to the ground once more, then head
left and use the save room beyond the door.

---------
Herbicide
---------

Head left as you kill divers and vines [use missiles on anything that your
normal shots can't kill], then continue left to the next room.

Roll left through the tunnel ahead and drop down, then bomb the wall and roll
left into a boss battle.

------------------
BOSS: Plant/Cocoon
------------------

Aside from the nasty cocoon being held up by some plant's vines, you should
notice a beetle flying around the room in a figure-eight pattern.

The boss launches spreading circles of spores periodically that are fairly easy
to avoid, and that's his only real attack.

You want to freeze the beetle when he's close to either the right or left wall,
then use him as a platform as you jump straight up and fire missiles at the
vines. Once you've hit a vine with three missiles it dies and there are three
such vines on each side of the cocoon.

It works best to jump up and fire a missile or two, then fire normal shots down
on the beetle as you fall to keep it frozen. Once you've cleared the trio of
vines from one side you can drop down and let the beetle thaw, then freeze him
on the other side and get back to work.

Once all six vines have been destroyed the cocoon falls to the ground and the
battle ends.

Drop onto the cocoon and follow the nearby passage right, then head through the
door ahead and take the elevator down to Ridley.

Head left to the next room and follow the passage, then drop down the new
passage that the cocoon has created to return to Ridley.

======
Ridley

----------
Spelunking
----------

Follow the tunnel down and left, then continue left over the wall to reach the
next room.

Wait here for a moment as you get ready for another boss battle, then walk
forward and drop through the floor to start the battle.

---------------
BOSS: Alien Bee
---------------

Head left as you break about five eggs, then roll into a ball and wait for the
boss to fly right over you. Now stand up and run after the boss while plugging
his stinger with missiles until he flies away. Roll into a ball at the right
side of the room and lurk around the yellow plants, the boss should dive near
you and start flying left. So Run after him and shoot his stinger just like
before.

After about 15 hits with the missiles the boss should turn from purple to
yellow. This now means that the boss fires shots at you from his stinger while
chasing you down at a slightly greater speed. As long as you remember to stay
in a ball when the boss is off-screen or when you're not chasing him though
then you should be fine.

After about 15 more missiles the boss should turn from yellow to red, and be
VERY weak. Now you just need to hit the stinger with around 5 missiles to
break it off and send the bee flying away.

Take a breath and walk left as the bee comes flying in and crashes into the
wall, then grab the super missile tank inside.

"Arm with select. Fire with R + B. Opens green hatches."

-----------
Frustration
-----------

Head right to the next room and use a missile on the block below as you return
to the save room. Now head left and use a super missile to get to the next
room.

Kill the birds, leapers and minor enemies in here as you head left and go
through the door at the end of the room.

[ASIDE: Go through the door at the bottom if you fall, then kill the leapers
and birds on your way to the save room to your left. Now climb to the top of
the shaft and head right past birds and a swarm of enemies to reach the energy
tank.]

Head slowly left and stop on the fourth block from the right door, if you step
on the next block you'll fall into the room below. Jump left from where you
are instead and grab the energy tank, then go left to the next room.

Kill the bird here and bomb the wall, then back off a bit and kill the swarm of
enemies that's released. Roll left once they're dead and bomb the next wall,
then kill the bird and go left to the shaft.

Hug the right wall as you fall down the shaft, then use the save room midway
down.

Return to the shaft and drop down a little farther, then grab the missile tank
to your left. Carefully continue your descent down the shaft, then use a
missile to get through the door at the bottom.

Download the map data here, then go right to the next room.

Jump the gap and approach the pipe, then get ready for some tricky moves [of
course you could always skip these two missile tanks if you find it too hard].

===============================MISSILE TANK#02=================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Jump into the alcove above and shoot the blocks on your right, then run right
to the end of the passage. Run back left along the passage as your speed
booster activates and store the charge as you break the pair of blocks up
ahead.

Quickly drop to the ground and run left, then fire a shot before you do a spin
jump over the gap. Jump slightly before hitting left to start a shoulder
charge into the ramp, then run left into the map room.

Shoot the left door open as you continue your run into the next room and break
through the ground in there. Drop into the fake lava now and shoot the door
open, then run through it as your speed booster kicks in.

Continue running in this room and store the charge before you hit the left
wall, then jump straight up as you launch to the ceiling. Grab the ledge on
your right as you fall and climb into the tunnel, then roll right and hold
right to land in the next tunnel.

Drop onto the crumbling block to your right and stand up, then jump into the
air before it disappears and grip the left tunnel on your way down. Jump right
from here and roll into the small tunnel, then drop into the next shaft and
stand up as you fall so that you can grip the left alcove on your way down.

Fire a missile at the block on your right and climb into that tunnel, then roll
right and get ready for some speedy moves. Face right and angle your gun down,
then leap into the air and fire a bunch of shots. Quickly roll into a ball and
roll right through the lower tunnel until the ground starts crumbling below
you, then hold left until you grab a missile tank.

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================MISSILE TANK#02=================================

===============================MISSILE TANK#03=================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Stop holding left when you grab the missile tank above so that you don't fall
to the ground floor, then take a breath and get ready for some more flashy
moves.

Roll right unto the middle block that crumbles slower than the others, then
quickly [use the gap above to] stand up and hold left or right so that you grab
onto the ledge when the block disappears. You should be hanging on one of the
ledges right now, so press the opposite direction to where you are hanging [ie:
if you're hanging off the left ledge press right, and vice-versa].

Now tap up to aim your gun in that direction before firing a shot, then fire a
single missile at the block that your basic shots didn't get rid of. Make a
note of what ledge you're hanging off of and jump the opposite way to grab the
ledge above [ie: hanging off left ledge means jumping right and vice-versa].

Pull yourself up into the tunnel and take a breath as the blocks reappear below
you, then drop onto those blocks and fire one basic shot and three missiles
straight up. Jump up to the ledge and tunnel above you and wait for the nearby
blocks to reappear, then jump up to the waiting missile tank.

Now you can pretty much go anywhere you want and allow yourself to fall to the
ground floor, then walk to the left wall and run right while shooting open the
door. Store the charge in the next room before you hit the right wall, then
launch yourself straight up the shaft. Now return right to the room just past
the map room.

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================MISSILE TANK#03=================================

Continue right past more spawning enemies and jump across the lava, then grab
the missile tank ahead of you. Continue right as you kill some more spawning
enemies and jump across more lava, then kill a bird and jump the lava ahead of
you.

Shoot the ceiling here and jump into the passage above, then get read for some
more tricky moves [that you can skip completely if you find them too hard]

===============================MISSILE TANK#05=================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Run right as your speed booster kicks in and start firing ahead of you to break
a pair of blocks, then store the charge before you reach the blocks. Quickly
drop to the ground and do a spinning jump over the gap as you shoot the door
and run into the next room.

Run down the larger ramp and do a shoulder charge right into the tiny ramp [of
the save room platform] to continue your fully-charged run, then shoot the next
door open as you run through it.

Quickly store the charge in the next room and do a series of three spinning
jumps to get over the red wall, onto the ledge above you and then onto the
small ledge on your right with the orange enemy circling it. Now quickly do a
shoulder charge right through the wall and catch your breath for a moment.

Get as far left on this ledge as you can and start running right as you shoot
the door open. Continue running in the next room as your speed booster
activates, then store the charge before you hit the wall.

Quickly roll under the wall and stand up, then launch yourself up to the
ceiling and pull yourself into the alcove on your left. Take a breather and
get ready for another tricky section. Set a bomb and hold left as the blocks
start rapidly disappearing like a lit fuse. Hug the left wall as you fall and
roll left, then quickly hit up once to crouch before jumping left and pulling
yourself up.

Quickly run to the wall and jump left before the block below you disappears,
if done right you should be hanging off a nearby block and not on the ground
floor.

Quickly pull yourself up and rush left against the wall, then jump against the
left wall before you can think and do a wall jump to the floating pair of
blocks on your right.

If you're gripping the top block you're almost home free, quickly jump left
before the block crumbles. Now pull yourself up and roll left as you drop onto
the missile tank and end this nightmare.

Of course you can also make this tank a whole lot easier by waiting until you
have the space jump. You can just jump around in the air until all the blocks
disappear, then grab the tank.

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================MISSILE TANK#05=================================

If you skipped this crazy missile tank above [I don't blame you] you should
head right past more spawning enemies in the long hallway and work your way
across the lava to the save room.

However if you didn't skip the missile tank, then there's another one for you
to get here.

===============================MISSILE TANK#06=================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Shoot the left door open and go right to the wall, then run back left through
the door as your speed booster activates. Store your charge before you hit the
nearby wall, then stand below the small alcove in the ceiling and launch
yourself up there. Now shoot the door open and run right from the left wall
into the next room as your speed booster kicks in.

Shoot as you run to take out a 3x3 group of blocks, then quickly fire a missile
at the lone purple block. Continue running through the blue blocks and do a
spinning jump before you hit the purple wall. If done properly you should fly
through the blocks in an arc and land by the missile tank, now simply jump up
to it.

Run back left out of the room as you shoot the door open and blast through the
wall in the next room, then go use the save room at the bottom of the shaft so
you never have to do any of this again!

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================MISSILE TANK#06=================================

------------------
Emergency Supplies
------------------

Whether or not you got the four tricky missile tanks described above you should
now be in the save room at the right end of the 13x1 blue hallway.

Go right to the shaft and take the left door midway up the shaft to a longer
room on your map.

Jump onto the grey platform and shoot the leapers and spawning enemies ahead of
you, then go left past a trio of spawning pipes and jump the gap [if you shot
away the grey platform, otherwise use it to get across]. Shoot the spawning
enemies as you pass the first pipe, then drop into the second pipe and shoot
downward or use bombs to drop into a hidden area. Shoot or bomb the grey ledge
above the lava, then drop down into the fake lava. Turn right and shoot the
wall to reveal a missile tank, then roll into it.

Climb out of this area the same way you came down and head left past more
leapers and spawning enemies, then enter the door at the end of the room.

Roll left and jump to the tunnel below, then set a few bombs to free the
enemies above you. Kill the enemies and collect their items, then grab the
missile tank that's on display.

Jump left and pull yourself up into the small alcove, then set a bomb to create
a passage above you. Jump left and pull yourself up, then jump right and
crouch before firing a super missile at the block on your right. Roll right
and set a bomb when you can't go any further, then watch the blocks disappear
like a lit fuse. Once they're gone one block should remain, so shoot that one
and grab the super missile tank inside.

Work your way back to the ground floor, then roll left and continue through the
door.

Crouch and freeze one of the enemies when he's on you're side of the missile
tank, then use him as a platform to jump up to it. Carefully jump left and
grab hold of the grey ledge, then pull yourself up and go through the door.

Kill all the leapers in this room as you head left to the next one.

Jump the wall in front of you and grab the waiting super missile tank. Roll
into a ball and jump against the right wall above to land in a hidden passage,
then follow it until you can stand once more. Don't go through the door just
yet, shoot the block above you instead and grab the missile tank inside. Now
that you've looted this room completely you can use the door on your left.

Roll into a ball and roll left into the shaft, then quickly get out of the ball
and grab the left tunnel as you fall. Jump right and grip the tunnel that you
came through originally, then jump left to the tunnel and the missile tank
above.

Now roll right and get out of the ball as you fall so you can grip the left
tunnel below you, then shoot diagonally down at the block by the missile tank.
Jump into the air and quickly roll into a ball, then hug the right wall as you
fall to grab the missile tank.

Now fall to the ground and use the launcher in the bottom right corner, then
return right to the 1x1 room past the leapers.

Drop to the bottom of this shaft and use the safe room on your left before
running through the door on the right side of the shaft.

Continue running right as your speed booster kicks in and you barrel through a
ton of enemies, then collect the items that they leave behind before going
through the door ahead.

Roll right and set a bomb by the wall, then drop to the passage below and head
right for an energy tank before heading back left to the save room.

Go left to the next room and jump over the wall there as you kill some spawning
enemies, then approach the enemy on the door ahead. Wait for him to open his
eye and jump over the beam that he fires, then launch a missile in his eye.
Repeat this until you've hit him with three missiles, then pick up the items
that he left behind before going through the door.

There's nothing to do here at the moment so continue left to the next room.

Approach the statue and break open the container, then grab the Unknown Item.

"Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit."

Jump over the statue and shoot the 2x2 block, then continue left through the
wall and grab the energy tank. Return right and use the statue to restore your
health and missiles, then open the door and switch to your super missiles.
Take a moment to get ready for the upcoming boss battle, then enter the next
room.

------------
BOSS: Ridley
------------

Ridley has a number of attacks at his disposal, and they are as follows.

First he shoots fireballs at you that you can easily shoot to get rid of. He
also fires some larger fireballs, but you can get rid of them in the same way
[and these ones drop items sometimes].

Other than the fireballs though Ridley sometimes grabs you by the head and
flies into the air before spitting fireballs at you. If you shake left and
right rapidly though you can break free of his grip and fall back down again.

Ridley also uses his tail for a couple of attacks. The most basic of these has
him swinging his tail at you, but you can usually spot this coming and keep
your distance. The second attack involves Ridley pointing his tail straight
down and almost using it as a pogo stick as he tries to spear you with it. You
can avoid this pogo attack though by staying under the front part of Ridley.

However if you use the following strategy then you won't need to worry about
any of Ridley's attacks because the battle will be over before you know it.

If you'll recall I told you to equip your super missiles before you even
entered this room. You can use them now as Ridley fires a bunch of small
fireballs at you, but I would recommend against this. This is due to the fact
that one of your super missiles could hit his fireballs instead of him, and
that's a pretty big waste when you have so few of these powerful missiles to
begin with.

So just get rid of the small fireballs with your basic shots, then quickly jump
over the lava and get below Ridley. Point your gun straight up and unload all
your super missiles into Ridley to SEVERELY weaken him.

Now just switch to your regular missiles and do the exact same thing, unload
them until Ridley dies [which should be REALLY soon].

After all is said and done, you can win this battle in a matter of seconds by
using the above strategy!

------
Ascent
------

Head back to the previous room and use the statue to get all your health and
weapons restored, then head right until you reach the spawning enemies again.
Freeze one of them and use it as a platform to reach the ledge above, then
shoot the 2x2 block on your right and follow the passage as you enter the door
below and use the save room.

Head right until you reach the room where you got the energy tank earlier, then
work your way to the right end of the room and roll through the tunnel there
before entering the shaft beyond.

Climb to the top of the shaft and shoot the 2x2 block on your left. Follow the
passage behind it and continue your climb, then go through the door at the top.

Jump the pair of gaps to reach a spawning pipe, then go left a little and lure
an enemy over to you. Freeze him above you and use him as a platform to reach
a ledge above you, then head right for a missile tank. Drop back down and work
your way left past some birds, then use a missile on the block by the wall and
some bombs to drop down to the room below.

Use the nearby save room and take the elevator up to Norfair.

Screwed Up
----------

Watch the wall on your right crumble away, then head right and kill some
spawning enemies before using a missile to get through the door ahead of you.

Jump over the broken statue and roll through the passage, then shoot or bomb
the floor as you drop to the ground below.

Start running left and shooting the blocks in front of you as you pass through
a glass tube and end up by a launcher. Use the launcher to launch yourself
really far up the shaft, then go through the door once you stop moving.

Ignore the missile tank in here for now and freeze the beetles to get by them,
then use a missile to get through the next door.

Approach the statue and bust open the container, then grab the screw attack
from inside.

"Damage enemies while somersaulting."

---------------------
Behind the Green Door
---------------------

Use the statue to restore your health and weapons, then return to the previous
room.

Use your screw attack to kill the beetles, then use it to break the blocks
around the missile tank as you grab it. Drop to the ground next and head
through the door on your right.

Use the screw attack to get through the right side of the floor, then use the
save room before returning to the shaft.

Shoot through the right side of the floor and drop down, then use a super
missile to get through the green door.

Jump across the series of platforms here while trying to avoid the lava and
spawning enemies, then bomb your way through a short tunnel. Continue right
past more platforms and spawning enemies, then enter the door beyond.

Shoot the left side of the ground and drop into the fake lava, then avoid the
beetle while you enter the door below.

Head left until you pass a spawning pipe, then kill the enemy on the small
platform ahead. Stand flat on the ground by the spawning pipe to lure an
enemy, then quickly run right to the small platform as the enemy flies over
you. Jump straight up and freeze the enemy midway between you and the super
missile tank, then jump [DON'T spin jump or your screw attack will kill the
enemy] onto the enemy to reach the super missile tank.

Now wait for the enemy to thaw, then angle your gun down [and left] and freeze
the enemy once more when it gets into range. Drop onto the enemy and shoot
left to reveal a tunnel, then jump inside and roll left to find a missile tank.

Now work your way back to the nearest save point, then enter the room on your
right and work your way to the shaft at the far right end of the map.

Jump up the passage above and use your screw attack on the right wall, then
follow the passage and go through the nearby door.

Continue left to the end of this room and use a super missile to get through
the door.

Shoot through the walls as you jump left across the lava, then shoot the top of
the last wall to find a missile tank. Grab the tank and continue left, then go
through the door to the next room.

Walk left to the wall and roll into a ball, then jump up and set a bomb in the
corner. Now stand up quickly and jump left to get the super missile tank as
the blocks disappear. Work your way back through the door, then head back
right to the shaft.

Jump to the ledge above the door and use your screw attack to continue your
climb up past the beetle, then enter the door that leads to a red 3x1 room on
your map.

Jump across the platforms here while killing the enemies, then grab the missile
tank when you reach it. Now work your way back to the save room by the
Brinstar elevator, then ride that elevator up.

Head towards the Kraid elevator and use a save room on the way, then drop to
the bottom of the green 3x1 shaft beside the Kraid elevator.

Set a few bombs on the left ledge here to uncover a launcher, then use it to
launch yourself up the shaft. Quickly hold right near the top so that you land
in a small tunnel, then roll right to get a missile tank.

Now head for the top of the [left] 1x13 shaft and head left until you reach the
giant stone heads. Watch both heads open their mouths wide, then head left
through them and the door ahead as you ride the nearby elevator down to
Tourian.

----------
Brain Food
----------

In this area you finally get to meet the Metroids, they're deadly creatures
that latch onto you and drain your health until you die. The only way to get
them off of you is to set a few bombs. Otherwise you kill a Metroid by
freezing it and then hitting it with five missiles.

Use the save room on your right and continue to the next room, then go right
through the door in that empty room.

Beware of the spawning rings as you drop to the bottom of the shaft, then head
through the door at the bottom.

Avoid the rings in this room and head left as you meet your very first Metroid.
Freeze the sucker and shoot it with five missiles to get rid of it, then go
left to the next room.

Freeze and kill a Metroid while trying your best to avoid the rings, then drop
to the ground and kill a second Metroid before heading through the nearby door.

Freeze the rings and approach the lava to attract a Metroid, then freeze it and
kill it. Jump a few gaps as another Metroid appears, then kill it like you did
the last one. Jump over a few more gaps and kill a third Metroid, then
continue on to the door. Kill a fourth Metroid here while avoiding some rings,
then go to the next room.

Drop down the shaft here and freeze TWO Metroids as they approach from both
sides of you. Keep them frozen and launch 1-2 missiles at a time at them until
they die. If you try to launch any more than that you run the risk of one of
them thawing. Head right to the wall and jump up a little to lure a Metroid
down to you, then kill him and climb up the shaft. Kill the Metroid that
appears on your right and go through the door, then go through the next door
and use the save room.

Return to the previous room and shoot through the floor, then drop to the
ground and enter the next room.

Walk to the right end of the ledge to lure the Metroid up to you, then kill it
and drop down two ledges. Now walk to the right edge of this ledge and kill
the Metroid when it gets close. Drop down one ledge and walk to the left end,
then kill the Metroid when it gets close. Drop down another ledge and walk to
the right end, then kill the Metroid when it gets close. Drop off two more
ledges as you kill a nearby Metroid, then drop to the bottom of the shaft.
Kill one more Metroid here and go left to the next room.

Bomb the floor and hide on the left or right side, then start jumping down
platforms one at a time until 2-3 Metroids appear. Lure them up to the top and
kill them, then work your way down again and kill another Metroid.

Bomb this floor and hide on the left or right side, then drop to the ground and
kill two more Metroids. Now climb to the top once more and head through the
left door, then use the save room and go left to the next room.

Run to the end of the room and use a missile to open the door, but DON'T go
through it. Instead kill a few rings until you have full health, missiles and
super missiles, then go back and use the save room before returning here.

Run to the end of the hall again and enter the next room.

In this room you need to avoid rings and turrets as you work your way left.
There are also pulsing gates that block your path and they can only be
destroyed by a barrage of missiles. However you have to be fast because the
gate will regenerate if it is not completely destroyed, which means that you'll
waste missiles if you're slow.

Try to freeze the rings instead of destroying them, this way you can use them
as platforms if needed and they won't be attacking you or respawning.

Once you've destroyed three gates another hazard presents itself, lava. This
section of the room is the hardest yet, but as long as you try your best to
stay on the platforms [or climb up onto them as fast as you can] while pumping
the gate with missiles you should be fine.

Now jump left and pull yourself through the narrow space to the final section
of the room and a boss battle.

------------------
BOSS: Mother Brain
------------------

For the first stage of the battle Mother Brain does nothing but sit in her
glass tank while the turrets, rings and lava try to kill you. So treat her
like a gate and try to plug her tank with as many missiles as possible.

After about 25 missiles [and a lot of cracking] Mother Brain's glass tank will
break open completely and wake her up. At this point Mother Brain will start
attacking you, so be ready for it.

Basically Mother Brain glows blue when she's about to fire a shot at you. Her
shot can hit you if you're standing or hanging off a platform so you need to
jump over it to avoid it. Once you've avoided the shot though Mother Brain is
stunned for a moment with her eye open.

Take this chance to duck on a platform and fire a super missile in her eye.
Repeat this until you run out of super missiles, then move on to regular
missiles. It shouldn't take long to kill her this way though.

Once the battle's over a 2 minute self-destruct timer starts, so quickly run
left to the next room.

Jump up the slow-crumbling blocks in this shaft to make it to the top, you can
even use the stable ledges by the wall every so often if you need a break.
However it's really not that hard and you should be able to make it to the top
easily, one there take the elevator to Crateria.

========
Crateria
========

------
Escape
------

Ride the elevator up and go right to the next room.

Jump all the way up the shaft and shoot a pair of walls as you head right, then
jump over a gap and shoot another wall. Run right through the door and into
the next room, then keep running as you blast through a wall and reach your
space ship. Finally jump on top of your ship to get inside and escape the
planet.

========
Chozodia
========

After the cutscene you'll end up back on Zebes in an area known as Chozodia,
with the following message.

"The timing of my escape couldn't have been worse. I was attacked by Space
Pirates and left nearly defenseless, stripped of my Power Suit. All I had for
protection was my rather useless emergency pistol. Infiltrating the Space
Pirate Mother Ship so armed may have been foolish, but I had no choice...

Could I survive long enough to escape?"

You then start with very limited health and your pistol.

"An auto-charging pistol. Stun enemies with charged shots."

Basically the pistol fires virtually harmless shots unless you let it charge
[the bar below your health fills and starts flashing], then that single shot
can stun an enemy for a few precious moments.

So drop to the ground for now and head left to the next room.

Jump up the ledges and head left to the ground again, then crawl under the wall
ahead of you and go left to the next room.

Head left UNDER the ramp and crouch by the wall, then fire a couple shots and
crawl through the hole into the ship.

------------------------
Space Pirate Mother Ship
------------------------

Jump left and pull yourself up onto the ledge, then crawl left through the
tunnel to the map room.

Shoot the blocks above you and download the map data, then use the save room on
your left [the save rooms inside the mother ship restore your health and
whatever weapons you have]. Jump above the left door to reach a tunnel, then
crawl through it to get into the next room.

Make a note of the space pirate below you, ONE of his shots can take away a
whole energy tank so try not to get hit.

Drop to the ground and shoot a charged shot at the space pirate, then quickly
jump over the security door and crawl under the wall. Now jump onto the
platform below the next space pirate, then jump up there and stun him. Quickly
run right and open the door as you enter the next room.

Run right and crawl under the wall as a space pirate comes in after you, then
wait for him to give up as the security door opens. Run right when it does and
open the nearby door before going through it.

Jump up a couple of ledges and make a note of the green lasers, if you touch
either of them the alarm goes off. Jump over the right beam and walk towards
the right wall, then angle your gun down and shoot the ground ahead of you.
Drop to the ground and trip a security laser, then quickly jump to the right
wall and enter the door above.

Continue running right as a space pirate chases you from behind, then jump to
the ledge and pull yourself up. Quickly take a step or two right and jump to
another ledge above you instead of running into a second space pirate. Now
jump to the ledge above you and pull yourself up, then quickly crouch and shoot
the wall in front of you. Crawl under the wall and run through the door as the
space pirates chase you.

Hold right as you fall through the floor ahead and land on a platform, then
quickly jump up a series of platforms as a space pirate climbs up the right
wall after you. Rush through the left door once you get to the top of the
shaft.

Quickly jump over the wall here and wait as the space pirate gives up the chase
and shuts off the alarm. Now crawl right under the wall and jump up the
passage to reach the next room.

Admire the alien ship as you crawl left through the tunnel to reach the next
room.

Drop through the floor and use the save room on your right, then return to the
previous room.

------------
Infiltration
------------

Crawl under the wall and jump up a pair of ledges to a red door, then jump to
another ledge above you and head right. Work your way down the ledges and
enter the nearby door on your left.

Shoot through the cracked floor, then drop down and quickly crawl right through
the tunnel as a space pirate sounds the alarm.

Run right and shoot diagonally at the cracked ground as you fall through it,
then do the same thing as you run left and right again. Run off the next ledge
and hold left so you catch the ledge below, then climb up and run right as you
crawl under a wall and go through the nearby door.

Run to the wall as you fall through the floor, then wait for the gate to open
before going through the door.

Avoid the searchlights in this room [as they'll sound the alarms], then climb
to the top of the shaft and go through the door there.

Head right and shoot the 2x2 block above, then climb up and shoot a cracked
section on your left. Now climb farther up and go through the nearby door.

Shoot through the walls here and enter the save room up ahead, then go left to
the next room.

-------------
Cat and Mouse
-------------

This room is filled with security lasers and while you don't need to make it
through without hitting them, you'll certainly live longer if you avoid them.

Drop to the ground to start, then head left and climb the first ledge, now do a
couple of low jumps [so your head doesn't hit the beams above] to get across
the pair of beams. Climb onto the ledge on your left as it slowly crumbles,
then quickly jump to the ledge on your right.

Now run right along the nearby ledge and run right off the end of it as you
grab the next ledge. It's slowly crumbling though so quickly climb up and
crawl right, then jump straight up and grab hold of the generator above the
laser [this won't set it off]. Climb up and jump to the ledge on your left,
then jump left to a slow-crumbling ledge. Quickly jump off the left end to
grab hold of the generator above the nearby laser, then pull yourself up and
enter the door to your left.

Climb the ledge ahead of you and go on to the next room.

Hug the left wall as you fall and get spotted by a space pirate, then crawl
right to the next room.

Drop right and left, then shoot the cracked wall and fall down the shaft. Head
right when you land and start weaving your way to the ground floor, then go
through the nearby door.

Run left through the glass tube and into the next room as the space pirates
chase you.

Shoot the door open and continue running while the space pirates continue to
chase you.

Run left and drop to the ground, then crawl under the wall to reach the next
room.

Shoot the 2x2 block above you and jump over the wall, then quickly shoot the
blocks in front of you. Crawl under the wall as you shoot another block, then
run through the door ahead.

Run left and jump onto the ledge above as the space pirate keeps running and
shuts off the alarm, then continue on to the save room before going left to the
next room.

--------------
Risky Business
--------------

There's nothing to do in this tiny room except head left to the next one.

Watch out for the searchlights here as you crawl under a pair of walls, then
climb up the ledge above and head right as you continue your climb. Don't
crawl under the wall on your left as there's a space pirate there. Just
continue your climb and head right through the door at the top.

Drop to the ground and head through the right door.

Shoot a series of blocks as you run right to the wall, then climb up a pair of
ledges and go to the next room.

Don't shoot the blocks in here, climb up the ledge above instead and use the
door there.

Go left and climb the ledge above, then head right to the next room.

The eyes in this room can only see you from below [and set of the alarm] when
you're hanging, because they can catch your foot dangling.

Go right to the wall and hang off the block above until the eye passes up to
the next row of blocks, then jump and hang off one of them. Wait for the eye
to pass down over you, then hang off the next set of blocks above. Wait for
the eye on your right to pass behind your blocks, then climb up and jump up the
next set of blocks. Quickly hang off the highest set of blocks and pull
yourself up when the eye passes behind them, then use the door on your left.

Jump over the wall and stand on the cracked block, then crouch and fire a few
shots left. Crawl left along the crumbling blocks and fire a couple shots to
get rid of some blocks in your way as you finish crossing. Walk left as you
fall through the floor and get spotted by a space pirate, then rush left into
and out of the next room.

Shoot the wall in the next room as you run through it and into the next room.

Crawl under the blocks and jump into the left corner, then wait for the space
pirate to give up and turn off the alarm. Shoot the blocks and climb up the
shaft, then go through the door at the top.

Shoot the blocks here and crawl right to the next room.

Jump up the ledges and crawl left as you notice a power bomb tank above, then
go left to the next room.

Go left and fall through the floor, then crawl under the wall and jump up the
platforms before using the save room on your left.

--------
Intruder
--------

Return to the previous room and take the right door, then notice that the power
bomb tank is missing. Head right and climb the ledge above, then crawl under
the wall as you watch a space pirate walk away with the power bomb tank. Climb
the ledge above you and head right after the space pirate.

Go right and drop into the small pit, then wait for the eye to pass behind the
blocks below before dropping onto them. Wait on the left side of the blocks so
the eye doesn't see you, then wait for the lower eye to drop behind the block
below before you drop onto it.

Crawl right to see a third eye, then wait for it to pass behind the blocks
above. Climb the ledge above and crawl under the blocks, then climb up the
lower ones and crouch so the eye doesn't see you on the way down. Wait for the
eye to go down behind your blocks, then climb to the top of the shaft and go
through the door there.

This room is filled with space pirates and you ARE going to get seen, so just
run right and stun anyone that gets in your way as you climb under a wall and
run into the next room.

Run right and jump up the platforms, then jump left to the tunnel and crawl
left to the next room.

Crawl left through the long tunnel and run left to the next room.

Jump up the series of platforms and enter the door at the top.

Run left off the ledge and keep running past a bunch of space pirates, then
start jumping up the platforms at the left wall. Once at the top start running
right and climb under a pair of walls as you shoot the 2x2 blocks in your way.
Continue running right and jump the gap, then turn left and shoot the block to
send all the space pirates falling down to the ground. Wait for the security
gate to open, then go right and use the save room.

Head right and jump up the series of ledges, then go left through the door at
the top to start a boss battle.

-------------
BOSS: Spirits
-------------

Have a look at your reflection in the orb in the middle of the room, don't
shoot or touch it though or you'll hurt yourself.

You might be wondering how you're supposed to win this battle then if you can't
shoot or touch the enemy. Well if you watch long enough there's a moment that
you can't see your reflection in the orb and instead see a symbol in there.

Shoot the orb at that moment to get your first hit, then watch as the armoured
spirit in the background picks up the orb and starts flying in a
counter-clockwise circle.

Every so often he stops moving and the screen flashes. Move out of the way
when this happens to safely avoid a bolt of lightning, then wait until the
symbol appears in the orb again and shoot it to score your second hit.

Now the spirit traces the screen counter-clockwise in a bouncing sort of
motion while the lightning bolts keep appearing. They're just as easily
avoided though and you should watch for the usual symbol before shooting it and
getting your third hit.

The boss has the exact same pattern this time, except the lightning strikes
more often and it sometimes trails along the floor and walls after striking.
This means that you need to avoid the initial strike and also jump in case the
lightning continues towards you. However this is all secondary to spotting the
symbol in the orb and getting the fourth and final hit to end the battle.

Once the battle is over you not only get your power suit back, but your three
unknown items get identified as the following items.

Plasma Beam

"This powerful beam can blast through multiple enemies."

Gravity Suit

"Reduces damage from foes. Enables free movement in water. Stops lava
damage."

Space Jump

"Somersault continually in the air. Use 'A' mid-somersault to jump again."

-------
Payback
-------

Use the space jump to reach the top right corner of the room, then roll through
the tunnel and drop to the ground below. Shoot the space pirates as you head
right, then drop down the shaft and shoot another space pirate to open the
security door.

Shoot a missile at the small bridge over the water, then drop down and use your
speed booster as you run through the wall on your right and grab a super
missile tank.

Now get ready for some really difficult moves in order to get the MOST
DIFFICULT tank in the game, which you can skip if you so desire.

===============================ENERGY TANK#01==================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Shoot away the blocks above you and return to the left wall, then run back
right as your speed booster kicks in. Store the charge just below the gap that
you created, then do a SPINNING jump left and quickly do a shoulder charge
left.

[For all of the instances where you need to shoulder charge into a ramp, you
MUST hold left or right until you hit the ramp and start running. If you fail
to do this Samus will stop when she hits the ramp. However once she starts
running you can store the charge and continue onward.]

You'll start running when you hit the small ramp so quickly store your charge
once more before you hit the wall. Now space jump left to reach the ledge
above and do a shoulder charge right into the ramp, then quickly store the
charge yet again before you hit the wall.

Space jump right and land on the next ledge, then do a shoulder charge left and
quickly store another charge. Space jump to the ledge on your right and do a
shoulder charge right into the nearby hill as you break into a run.

Shoot the door open as you enter the next room, then quickly store another
charge as you use a screw attack on the blocks. Run off the ledge and hug the
left wall until you land on a small ledge, then quickly store the charge once
more before you fall right to the next ledge. Do a shoulder charge right as
you fly over a great distance and eventually land in a well-deserved energy
tank.

Getting back is a little easier, simply run from the left wall to the right and
store your charge. Now do a shoulder charge back left to the shaft.

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================ENERGY TANK#01==================================

If you skipped the energy tank above you should still follow the same route
[minus all the speed boosting] using the space jump to reach the shaft, then
hug the left wall to find an alcove near the top of the shaft. Jump up and
fire a missile left at the top block to create a hole, then roll into the
tunnel to get a missile tank.

Head left and use the save room, then drop to the VERY bottom of the shaft that
had the alcove with the missile tank. Now use your screw attack to break the
blocks on your left as you go through the door beyond.

Roll left to the wall and use a bomb to drop into the lava, then roll right and
follow the passage for a super missile tank.

Roll back left and jump out of the lava, then drop to the ground and exit the
room through the tunnel on your left.

Drop down the shaft here while shooting space pirates and eyes, then go through
the door at the bottom.

Shoot more space pirates in here to open the security door, then go right to
the next room.

Shoot the blocks and drop to the ground, then shoot the left wall to reveal a
super missile tank and a missile-block. Shoot the missile-block with a
missile, then grab the super missile tank before rolling left under the wall
and using the nearby save room.

-------------
Drop The Bomb
-------------

Head right through two rooms as you end up in a large one, then use your space
jump and screw attack to take out a few space pirates above you. Continue up
to the door at the top of the room and go right through it.

Run right to the next room and through the glass tube as your speed booster
activates, then shoot the door open and run through a space pirate in the next
room. Store the charge and run to the right wall, then launch yourself
straight up [you don't have to do this but it's faster than jumping up the
shaft]. Set a bomb at the top of the shaft to clear the blocks and use the
space jump to reach the tunnel, then roll left through it.

Roll left and shoot the space pirates, then work your way right to the save
room nearby. Kill the space pirate if he follows you inside, then re-enter the
room to get your health and weapons restored as well as your game saved.

Go right to the next room and bomb the walls to continue on to the room beyond.

Shoot the space pirates and use the screw attack to get on the first ledge,
then use some missiles to get through the left side of the ceiling. Go towards
the crack on the right side of the ceiling and fire a missile at it, then fire
a normal shot and jump up through the hole. Roll left to the robot and shoot
it until it walks left, then go up and grab the super missile tank. Work your
way back down to the pair of doors, then use a missile to get through the left
door.

Climb up the short shaft here and use a super missile to get through the door
at the top.

Roll left to the wall and set a bomb, then drop to the ground shooting as you
kill a group of space pirates. Use your space jump to get out of the pit and
grab the super missile tank, then go and use the save room to your right.

Return to the previous room and use a missile to get though the door above you.

Jump to the fenced ledge above and jump to the tunnel above that, then roll
left through the tunnel to the next room.

Plug the pair of space pirates here with basic shots until they die, then go
left to the next room.

Shoot the space pirates in this room as you work your way to the robot at the
top, then shoot him and follow him left. Drop to the ground and head for the
left wall then jump up and go through the nearby door.

Shoot the space pirates here as you drop to the bottom of the shaft, then go
through the door on your left.

Shoot a pair of space pirates and roll into a ball, then roll left and use a
lot of bombs to get through the tunnel before heading for the next room.

Jump up the shaft and shoot a space pirate before continuing to the next room.

Shoot the cracked ground in front of you and drop to the lower passage, then
roll right through it as you go to the next room.

Shoot the space pirates as you work your way to the top of the shaft, then go
through the door on your left.

Shoot a space pirate as you roll under the wall, then run left and drop down to
the next room. Roll through the passage and drop down into the next room, then
use bombs to roll left as you watch a space pirate carry away a power bomb
tank. Drop to the ground and open the door, then go through it to the next
room.

Carefully use the space jump to get over the beams and pick up the power bomb
tank.

"Set with R + B in Morph Ball form. Opens yellow hatches."

--------------
Impending Doom
--------------

Set a power bomb and go through the door on your right.

Set a power bomb to clear away some blocks above you, then use the space jump
to get up there. Kill the pair of space pirates and grab the power bomb tank.

Work your way back up to the large room above you, then go through the right
door midway up and head right to the save room.

=================================100% DETOUR===================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Since you are almost at the very end of the game, this detour allows you to get
the rest of the items in past areas before beating the game. It is completely
optional and you have more than enough items at the moment to finish the game
easily. However if you're playing to get 100% item collection then you're
going to want to take this detour, otherwise just skip it.

Head back towards the ship on your map and stop when you reach the first blue
1x3 shaft. Head to the bottom of that shaft and use a power bomb to get
through the yellow door.

Shoot the right the wall and set a bomb by it, then start shooting at the space
pirates below as you fall. Grab any items that they leave behind and space
jump up to the super missile tank above.

Work your way down to the map room now and use a missile to get through the red
door there.

Kill the space pirates here as you head right, then shoot the ceiling in the
middle of the room to find a super missile tank. Fire a missile at the block
below the tank, then jump up and grab it. Drop back to the ground and head
right, then use a super missile to get through the green door.

Run down the ramp here and head right to the next area.

Roll under the wall and jump to the metal ledge above you, then set a power
bomb and roll left to grab the power bomb tank.

Head to the bottom of the blue 1x8 shaft and take the door left to the glass
tube.

Head to the middle of the tube and set a power bomb to shatter it, then drop
down to the bottom right corner and use a power bomb. Walk left to the wall,
then run right as your speed booster activates and you run through a pair of
blocks. Quickly store the charge before you hit the wall, then do a super jump
up to the top of the shaft [you can also use the space jump as you pass all the
space pirates but this way is faster]. Once at the top of the shaft simply
grab the power bomb tank there.

Drop back down the shaft and head left to the glass tube room. Work your way
to the bottom left corner of this room and set a power bomb, then head left and
drop to the bottom of the shaft before using the save room on your right.

Go right past the shaft to a room with a gradual hill, then shoot the enemies
inside as you wait by the top left door. Run right down the hill and shoot the
door open as your speed booster kicks in, then store the charge in the shaft.
Walk right below the left side of the platform above you, then do a super jump
to grab an energy tank high above.

Work your way back to the save room below, then head left past the sloping
room.

Use your screw attack if you want to kill the enemies here, then drop to the
bottom of the shaft and head left to the next room.

Go to the middle of the room and jump up to a hidden passage above, then kill
the enemies as you roll left and work your way up to a second branch. Head
right here until you reach the top of the passage, then roll left and bomb the
wall to get a super missile tank. Drop back down to the room below and take
the door on your left.

Head left as you shoot above you to reveal a lot of bomb blocks, then set a
bomb by the lowest bomb block just above you when you're near the left wall.
Jump into the passage and follow it right as you bomb your way up into the next
one. Roll right and jump to the higher of the two tunnels above, then follow
it left as you bomb the blocks above you. Enter the left of the two passages
and bomb the blocks on your left to get a super missile tank.

Bomb your way up to the top left door or drop to the ground and space jump up
there before heading through it.

Run left down the hall to reach the next room and Crateria.

========
Crateria
========

Run left to the door and use a power bomb to get through it.

Space jump left until you see a large opening above you, then jump up it to
reach the next area.

Use your screw attack on the blocks to your right, then use your space jump to
get over the two large pillars to your left. Run to the left end of the ledge
beyond and get ready for some fast moves.

Run right towards the first pillar as your speed booster activates, then store
the charge before you hit the pillar. Quickly do a spin jump in the air and
hit up to break out of it at the top, then do a shoulder charge right. Store
the charge once again just after you hit the small hill, then drop left off the
ledge and hold right to land on a small ledge below. Quickly roll into a ball
and charge left with it to blast into a tunnel, then hold left to grab the
missile tank below without falling past it.

Drop down and roll right, then work your way back left past the pillars again.
Now go through the exact same process above up until the point that you
shoulder charge right towards the hill. This time continue running right
through a nearby wall instead of storing the charge to get a super missile
tank.

Head for the room with the Norfair elevator next and get ready for some speed
booster antics. Set a power bomb to clear away a couple of blocks, then run
left from the right door as you shoot the left door open and run into the next
room.

Continue running left as you go through some water and blast through a wall,
then shoot the door up ahead as you run through.

Quickly store the charge and roll into a ball, then launch yourself diagonally
left from the left tip of the small bump here. If done properly you should
blast through a small group of speed booster blocks high up on a wall. Use a
power bomb next and follow the tunnel left to a power bomb tank.

Head back to the Norfair elevator and run back left through the wall and into
the large room to start your speed booster. Store the charge before you hit
the wall, then jump over it and onto the ground on the other side. Quickly do
a shoulder charge into the left hill and hold left so that you keep running,
then store the charge before you drop off the hill. Now walk left and do a
shoulder charge left, then hold left as you continue running through the wall
beyond. Take a break and go through the door on your left, then work your way
to the Tourian elevator and ride it down.

=======
Tourian
=======

Drop all the way down to the bottom of the shaft, then go right to the room
where you fought Mother Brain.

Bomb her platform to find a super missile block, then shoot that block with a
super missile and drop down to a power bomb tank in the room below.

Return to Mother Brain's room and head right to the save room.

Enter the hallway on your left and run all the way down it, then store the
speed booster's charge before you hit a block and quickly enter the next room.

Space jump left above the column on your left, then press up to stop spinning.
Fall slightly so that your head is beside the bottom block of the two
[breakable] blocks on the column, then do a shoulder charge left.

If you've done this properly you'll fly left through a bunch of breakable
blocks and into the shaft beyond, then you'll fly through some more blocks and
land in a small room full of blocks.

Shoot away the blocks and shoot the floor on your right, then grab the missile
tank there.

Now head back up the elevator to Crateria, then go down the nearby elevator to
reach Brinstar.

========
Brinstar
========

Nothing much to do here really, just head for the Kraid elevator and ride it
down.

=====
Kraid
=====

Use the save room on your left and return to the shaft, then take the left door
below the save room.

Shoot the blocks up high on your left and work your way through the tunnel
there, then head left and drop into the acid. Shoot the blocks below you to
drop down, then shoot the blocks on your right. Walk to the left wall and run
right as your speed booster activates, then quickly store the charge before you
hit the wall.

Turn left and do a shoulder charge into the ramp to run that way, then store
the charge once more on the other side of the ramp. Roll into a ball and fire
yourself right at the ramp, then continue holding right to roll through the
tunnel and the blocks beyond as you grab the missile tank.

Work your way to the far right save room by the green 6x1 shaft, then use a
screw attack on the right wall and go right through a passage to Norfair.

=======
Norfair
=======

Use a power bomb to get right to the next room, then crouch and fire a missile
to get into the shaft. Drop through the fake acid below you and work your way
down to some lava, then drop inside it and bomb the left side of the ground to
find a missile block. Fire a pair of missiles at that block and enter the door
below.

Climb the shaft and enter a tunnel on your right as you spot a missile tank,
then roll right and set a bomb. Fire a missile up at the tank as you fall,
then return to the tunnel and wait for the lower block to reform before
grabbing the missile tank.

Drop down the shaft and bomb the left wall to reveal a missile block, then
fire a trio of missiles at it and roll through the tunnel.

Space jump up the shaft here and grab the power bomb tank at the top.

Now return to the top right area of Crateria and open the yellow door there to
get back to Chozodia.

========
Chozodia
========

Run right and drop down the short shaft, then shoot left to find a power bomb
tank. Jump and fire a missile at the block in front of the tank, then climb
inside and grab it.

Go right to the wall and fire a missile down at the block below you, then drop
into the tunnel and roll left before using a power bomb.

Now work your way to the green 8x1 shaft and look for the spot on the left wall
where giant blocks cover a tunnel. Use a power bomb to get rid of the blocks,
then enter the tunnel and roll all the way left into the open. Jump to the
highest tunnel and roll right to the end, then shoot a space pirate. Fire a
missile at the middle of the ceiling above and jump up, then grab the power
bomb tank.

Now return to the highest save room on the map as you get ready to find one
more energy tank and beat the game. This now ends the 100% detour so
congratulations if you took it, you're almost there!

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
=================================100% DETOUR===================================

Return to the large room and jump to the ledge above, then set a bomb to get
rid of the blocks above you. Kill a space pirate and enter the door above to
reach the next room.

Set a power bomb to get rid of some blocks, then roll right through the tunnel
and use regular bombs to get out the other end. Shoot the door open and head
right through it to reach the next room.

===============================ENERGY TANK#02==================================
------------------------------------START--------------------------------------

Run right to the door but don't open it, instead run back left as your speed
booster kicks in and do a low jump before you hit the short wall. If done
right you should create a hole in the floor, so drop down it and get ready for
some tricky moves.

You basically need to use the space jump as you go right, but you can't touch
any of the security lasers or a security door at the end of the hall closes.
There isn't really any trick, it just takes a lot of practice. However once
you get it right you'll get an energy tank at the end of the room.

You can also get this energy tank by opening up the hole to the laser room like
normal, then running from the right end of the room above to the hole and
storing the charge. Quickly drop down the hole and run right off the ledge,
then do a shoulder charge right before you hit the laser below. This should
put you low enough that you miss all the lasers above you and fly right into
the energy tank [and it's MUCH easier than trying to space jump your way past
the lasers].

Once you have the tank you should go back to the save room so you don't have to
do this all over again, then return to the room above this energy tank.

-------------------------------------END---------------------------------------
===============================ENERGY TANK#02==================================

Run to the end of the room and go through the door.

Shoot the middle of the wall to create a gap, then roll into the gap and out
the other side of the wall. Now use a missile on the door before switching to
your super missiles, then go through the door to start the final boss battle.

------------------
BOSS: Mecha Ridley
------------------

Walk right and then back left to the door as the boss approaches.

His most basic attack involves swiping at you with his claw and is avoided by
staying far back and jumping in the air as he swings at you.

He also fires a laser from his eyes, but this is just as easily jumped.

The boss also fires a trio of missiles that are best avoided by leaping into
the air and shooting them down.

Finally the boss shoots fireballs at you, and these are dodged by space jumping
midway up the wall.

Much like when you fought Ridley earlier you can ignore pretty much all of
these attacks with a simple strategy involving super missiles. Just wait for
any moment that Ridley's head is up and not covering his flashing weak spot,
then fire a super missile at it. Once you've hit that spot with six super
missiles the battle is over. Of course if you don't have that many super
missiles you can move on to regular missiles but the battle shouldn't last
long.

-------------
Final Moments
-------------

Once the battle's over you can grab all the leftover health and missiles and
wait for a moment. Ridley's eye glows red all of a sudden and a 5 minute self
destruct timer appears.

Rush into the previous room and shoot the top of the wall to continue left,
then shoot the ceiling in one of the next rooms to get past the security door.
Otherwise there aren't really any other major surprises, simply kill any
enemies in your way as you work your way right to the alien ship on your map.

Once you get right in front of it you need to kill a pair of black space
pirates, but you've dealt with them before. Just pump them full of basic shots
and they'll go down.

Once they're both dead the doors on your right open up so run through them,
then climb into the alien ship as a space pirate jumps out to end the game!

                               (F) ITEM CHECKLIST
###############################################################################

Here are checklists for all the Energy Tanks, Missiles, and Power Bombs that
you can pick up in the game and any requirements you need to meet before
getting them.

You can get any missed items after getting the power bombs, as they are the
last suit upgrade that you get.

===========
GAME TOTALS
===========

- 86 Items

- 12 Energy Tanks
- 50 Missile Tanks
- 15 Super Missile Tanks
- 09 Power Bomb Tanks

===================
BRINSTAR [14 ITEMS]
===================

ENERGY TANKS [03]

#01 Right after you fight the worm for the second time, this energy tank is to
the right of it in plain view [you can't miss it].

#02 Once you have the bombs head for the blue 1x4 room that's two rooms right
of where you started the game. Get on the left side of the wall that you
can roll under and clear away the bats. Walk right to the wall and start
shooting up at the ceiling [about 3-4 blocks away from the wall] to uncover
    an energy tank.

You can get this energy tank right now by using the bomb jump or you can
come back later when you have the hi-jump. The choice is yours, but I
highly recommend that you use the bomb jump to get the energy sooner
    instead of later.

#03 You get this energy tank at the left side of the room right before the
Varia Suit [but go here after you get it, so the acid won't damage you].
Drop into the acid at the left end of the room, then go right and bomb
between the rocks on the flat portion to create a hole there. Drop into
the hole and crouch, then fire a few shots left to clear away some blocks.
Finally roll left and jump up to the energy tank waiting there.

MISSILES [10]

#01 This tank is impossible to miss, you need to collect it to beat the game.
It's in the middle of a long hallway in plain view shortly after you get
the Long Beam. Jump carefully across the narrow platforms and you should
be able to get it easily.

#02 This tank is accessed through by the top left corner of the only blue 3x2
room on the map. You should see a small bump on the wall in that corner.
Jump on that bump as you jump through the wall, then shoot the fly nest
inside and collect the missile tank behind it.

#03 This tank is in the long hallway where you fight the worm for the second
time. At the far left of this hallway you have to shoot through a wall,
but if you crouch and shot away the bottom of the wall you find the missile
    tank.

#04 Once you get the bombs you can roll into a passage below the statue and
bomb a couple blocks there to reach another room on your left. Bomb the
two bomb blocks here and use the bombs to get you up to the missile tank
    with ease.

#05 Go to the small 1x1 room just left of the blue 3x2 room on your map first
of all. Now set a series of bombs near the left end of the room to create
a hole in the floor, then hug the right wall as you fall down the shaft to
    land above a missile tank.

What you need to do here is roll into a ball and fall off the left side of
this small ledge, then you need to set a bomb beside the missile tank as
you fall to get rid of the bomb block. Now quickly jump onto the ledge on
your left and the one above it, then jump back above the missile tank. Now
roll into a ball and off the ledge once more as you hold right to drop
inside the small passage and grab the sweet missile tank. Enjoy these
extra five missiles because you certainly earned them!

#06 Once you have the ice beam, you can get this missile tank which is off of
the leftmost of the long shafts on your map. Part way up the shaft between
the save room and the first door on your right there is an alcove of blocks
on the left wall. Freeze the nearby beetle and jump off him to reach the
alcove on your left, then set a bomb and drop inside as you roll left into
    a hidden room.

Shoot spikey enemies and bats as you head left and drop through the ground,
then use some bombs on the parasites before they drain too much of your
health. Roll right and get rid of any more enemies before grabbing the
    missile tank on your left.

#07 Once you have the ice beam, you can get this missile tank which is off of
the leftmost of the long shafts on your map.

Climb up the shaft until you see the first beetle, then jump to the ledge
just right of it. Jump against the right wall as Samus grabs the edge of a
hidden tunnel, then pull yourself up and roll right into it.

Set a bomb by the right wall, then roll underneath and bomb your way under
the beetles. Freeze one of them against the left wall, then jump off him
to reach the missile tank above.

#08 Once you have the ice beam, you can get this missile tank, which is off of
the top of the right of the two large shafts.

Climb all the way up to the door at the top of this shaft, but instead of
opening the door jump to the nearby platform and freeze the lower beetle on
your left. Jump on the beetle and freeze the next beetle when he's close
to the left wall. Now jump on that beetle and jump to the tunnel at the
top of the left wall, then pull yourself up and roll inside.

Now simply roll down the small hill and grab the missile tank in front of
    you.

#09 This missile tank is in plain view in a blue 5x1 room right of the save
    room near the Varia Suit.

#10 You can get this missile tanks from the green 3x1 shaft left of the
Kraid elevator once you have the bombs.

Simply drop to the bottom of the shaft and set a few bombs on the left
ledge to reveal a launcher, then launch yourself into the air and hold
right to reach a missile tank at the top of the shaft.

SUPER MISSILES [01]

#01 This super missile tank is VERY hard to get, but if you're willing to put
in the time, you can get it once you have the hi-jump.
Go to the blue 9x1 hallway that's left of the Norfair elevator to start,
and go to the left end of it. Go right to the closest wall and turn
around, then run left and shoot open the door as your speed boost
    activates.

Duck before you hit the wall in the next room to store the charge, then
quickly shoot open the door on your right and go back through it. Quickly
shoot the door open and roll into a ball, then go right of the small bump
in the ground by the door and jump into the air ever so slightly before
    pushing left.

This sends you flying left up the small bump and through the open door,
then you barrel through the wall in the next room and into the hidden room
where you got a missile tank earlier.

Crouch once you break through the two beetles and a pair of blocks to store
the charge once more, then quickly roll left to the shaft.

Drop to the ground and stand up again then do a SPIN JUMP onto the platform
on your left [if you do a standing jump you will lose the charge and have
to start all over], then quickly roll into a ball again and jump ever so
slightly before pressing left. This should send you flying right into the
tunnel in the wall as you break through a row of blocks. Now you can catch
your breath and grab the well-earned super missile tank.

ENERGY TANKS [01]

#01 Once you've got the wave beam you can get this energy tank, specifically
when you're in the blue 3x1 room nearby with the two large slugs inside.
Once here you should head right to the second slug's cocoon and fire into
the ceiling to reveal the energy tank. Now fire a missile below the tank
to create a hole, then jump up and grab the tank.

MISSILES [13]

#01 In the 5x1 blue hallway just left of the Brinstar elevator shaft in plain
view. You can get it by using the bomb jump, or come back once you have
the power grip. It's your choice, but I would recommend using the bomb
    jump.

#02 Once you come back from Crateria with the Power Grip you can get this
missile tank. It's in plain view at the right end of the blue 5x1 hallway
just off of the Crateria elevator shaft.

#03 Found in the right end of the 1x2 blue room in the top right corner of the
map. Freeze the beetle above you when he's touching the right wall, then
shoot through the right wall and freeze the lower beetle when he's close to
the one above you. Quickly jump from the lower beetle to the higher one
[jump and shoot down at this beetle if he begins to thaw], then roll into a
ball and set a few bombs against the wall to find the missile tank.

#04 After you get the hi-jump go right two rooms to the shaft. Now jump to the
tunnel above the right wall and roll through, then hug the right
wall as you drop on the missile tank below.

#05 You can get this missile tank in the blue 5x2 room in the top right area of
the map once you have the hi-jump. From the right end of the room head
left and set a bomb above the enemy that's jumping out of the acid below,
then get out of the way. Freeze the enemy when he's in the air, then jump
off him to reach a platform above and the missile tank to your right.

#06 This missile tank is accessed via the small blue 1x1 room beside the
larger blue 3x2 room near the map room. Set some bombs on the ground here
to create a hole, then fall down the shaft below and enter the door at the
bottom to reach the right room.

Freeze the jumping enemies if needed as you jump over the lava and reach a
small wall, then freeze the next jumper as you cross the gap. Roll into a
ball and jump into the air as you set some bombs above you to uncover the
missile tank there, then jump up and grab it.

#07 This missile tank is in the exact same room as missile #06 above, simply go
to the right end of the room and the tank is in plain view.

#08 Go to the right end of the same room mentioned in energy tank #01 above,
then open the door [don't go through yet] and walk to the wall on your
left. Now run right through the door as your speed booster activates and
you drop through the floor to the ground below, then jump up the left wall
    and grab the missile tank.

#09 This missile tank is right of the room where you got the screw attack in
plain view, simply use the screw attack to get to the tank.

#10 This missile tank is in the same room as super missile tank #01 mentioned
below and the following instructions will continue where those ones left
    off.

Wait for the enemy to thaw, then angle your gun down [and left] and freeze
the enemy once more when it gets into range. Drop onto the enemy and shoot
left to reveal a tunnel, then jump inside and roll left to find the missile
    tank.

#11 This missile tank is near the left end of the red 5x1 room on your map
[just left of a green door]. Shoot through the top of the far left wall
in this room to find the missile tank.

#12 This missile tank is in a red 3x1 room near the top of the shaft on the
right side of the map in plain view. You can get it pretty much as soon as
    you have the Varia Suit.

#13 Head for the shaft beside the blue 3x2 room in the bottom left area of the
map once you have the gravity suit.

Drop into the lava at the bottom of the shaft and bomb the left side of the
ground to find a missile block, then fire a pair of missiles at that block
    and enter the door below.

Climb the shaft and enter a tunnel on your right as you spot a missile
tank, then roll right and set a bomb. Fire a missile up at the tank as you
fall, then return to the tunnel and wait for the lower block to reform
    before grabbing the missile tank.

SUPER MISSILES [02]

#01 This super missile tank is found beyond the closest green door to the room
where you got the screw attack. Head right past that door until you reach
a small blue 1x1 room then shoot through the floor to work your way down to
    a green 3x1 room.

Head left until you pass a spawning pipe, then kill the enemy on the small
platform ahead. Stand flat on the ground by the spawning pipe to lure an
enemy, then quickly run right to the small platform as the enemy flies over
you. Jump straight up and freeze the enemy midway between you and the
super missile tank, then jump [DON'T spin jump or your screw attack will
kill the enemy] onto the enemy to reach the super missile tank.

#02 This super missile tank is in the green 2x2 room left of the room where you
    got missile tank #11 above.

Walk left to the wall and roll into a ball, then jump up and set a bomb in
the corner. Now stand up quickly and jump left to get the super missile
    tank as the blocks disappear.

POWER BOMBS [01]

#01 Drop down the shaft where you find missile tank #13 above and bomb the left
wall to reveal a missile block. Now fire a trio of missiles at it and roll
    through the tunnel.

Space jump up the shaft here and grab the power bomb tank at the top.

CRATERIA [05 ITEMS]
===================

MISSILES [03]

#01 Head for the large room that's right of the Norfair elevator, then drop
into the water ahead of you and kill the nearby fish. Shoot the block
on your left that looks out of place, then use your bombs to tunnel through
the rock on your left as you kill a fish. Shoot all over the left wall to
uncover a missile tank, then grab it.

#02 This missile tank is in the same room as the unknown item that you collect
from a small room that's above the large room mentioned in missile tank #01
above. Once you grab the unknown item simply head left and shoot the 2x2
block to get rid of it, then grab the missile tank.

#03 Once you have the space jump you should head for the large open room in the
top right corner of the map.

Head to the left side of the two large pillars in the middle of the
room, then run to the left end of the ledge and get ready for some fast
    moves.

Run right towards the first pillar as your speed booster activates, then
store the charge before you hit the pillar. Quickly do a spin jump in the
air and hit up to break out of it at the top, then do a shoulder charge
right. Store the charge once again just after you hit the small hill, then
drop left off the ledge and hold right to land on a small ledge below.
Quickly roll into a ball and charge left with it to blast into a tunnel,
then hold left to grab the missile tank below without falling past it.

SUPER MISSILES [01]

#01 This super missile tank is found in the same room as missile tank #03 above
and got in almost the same way.

Go through the exact same process from missile tank #03 up until the point
that you shoulder charge right towards the hill. This time continue
running right through a nearby wall instead of storing the charge to get
    the super missile tank.

POWER BOMBS [01]

#01 Head for the room with the Norfair elevator and get ready for some speed
booster antics. Set a power bomb to clear away a couple of blocks, then
run left from the right door as you shoot the left door open and run into
    the next room.

Continue running left as you go through some water and blast through a
wall, then shoot the door up ahead as you run through.

Quickly store the charge and roll into a ball, then launch yourself
diagonally left from the left tip of the small bump here. If done properly
you should blast through a small group of speed booster blocks high up on a
wall. Use a power bomb next and follow the tunnel left to a power bomb
    tank.

ENERGY TANKS [02]

#01 This energy tank is found in the [blue 2x1] room where you bring power to
all the ziplines and it's impossible to miss. Simply power up the ziplines
and hit the switch to bring one over to you, then ride it right to the
    energy tank.

#02 Once you have the speed booster you can get this energy tank in the blue
4x1 room off of the Brinstar elevator shaft.

Start running as your speed booster kicks in and destroys the enemies
around you, then continue running across the crumbling blocks and jump off
the last one as you fly through the air and break some blocks at the other
end of the room. Shoot the switch above you and roll into a ball as you
    grab the nearby energy tank.

MISSILES [09]

#01 Head for the save room by the elevator and roll to the left wall, then use
bombs to get you into a tunnel and roll left to a hidden room. Use bombs
to continue left through the tunnel, then simply jump up to the missile
    tank.

#02 This missile tank is through the red door that's closest to the top of the
Brinstar elevator shaft. Inside this blue 5x1 room you'll find the
missiles in plain view, real easy stuff.

#03 This missile tank is found in the middle of the blue 6x1 shaft in the top
right corner of the map. Use the launcher at the bottom of the shaft to
launch you as high as it can, then hold left before you drop all the way
back down again. Stay in a ball and drop down the shaft, but hold left as
you do to land in a small passage. Now follow the passage left and right
until you reach the missile tank.

#04 This missile tank is found off of the [upper] blue 2x2 room on the map,
just after you've beaten the acid worm there. Collect the missiles and
health after the battle, then drop down and set a few bombs to enter a
chamber below. Jump across the platforms on your left, then crouch and
shoot up at the corner to break a block. Jump to the opening and grab
hold, then pull yourself up and roll left to a hidden room.

Use a bomb to get rid of the blocks and kill the enemies in here, then
simply jump up to the missile tank

#05 This missile tank is in the [lower] blue 2x2 room on the map, but you can
only get the tank once the power to the ziplines has been restored. Once
this is done you should kill the leapers at the bottom of this room and
jump up a pair of platforms, then jump above the zipline switch. Roll into
a ball and set a bunch of bomb above the switch, this sets of the switch
and bounces you up to the zipline [as a ball]. Wait until you are above
the missile tank, then quickly press the jump button to drop onto it.

#06 This missile tank is in the small room in the top left corner of the map.
You reach it from the room just right of this room by killing the two large
leapers in there. Once inside the missile tank room, simply bomb yourself
into the passage and drop onto the missile tank.

#07 This missile tank is found in the blue 5x1 hallway at the bottom of the
map. Once there head right and kill the pair of leapers, then jump to the
ledge above and roll into a ball. Set a bomb in the middle of the grey
blocks to reveal a launcher, then launch yourself from it to get rid of the
blocks above. Head right and do the same thing to find and use two more
launchers, then go right a little more and hit the zipline switch to bring
    it over to you.

Bomb the ground under the zipline to reveal yet another launcher, then use
it to launch yourself into the zipline. Finally ride the zipline left past
the enemies and into the waiting missile tank.

#08 This missile tank is in the green 4x1 room off of the nearby shaft after
beating Kraid. Simply go left past the spawning enemies and jump across
the series of platforms until you reach the other side of the acid. Now
crouch and shoot the left wall to find the missile tank and roll left to
    get it.

#09 Come back to the room below the Brinstar elevator save room once you have
    the Gravity Suit.

Shoot the blocks up high on your left and work your way through the tunnel
there, then head left and drop into the acid. Shoot the blocks below you
to drop down, then shoot the blocks on your right. Walk to the left wall
and run right as your speed booster activates, then quickly store the
charge before you hit the wall.

Turn left and do a shoulder charge into the ramp to run that way, then
store the charge once more on the other side of the ramp. Roll into a ball
and fire yourself right at the ramp, then continue holding right to roll
through the tunnel and the blocks beyond as you grab the missile tank.

RIDLEY [19 ITEMS]
=================

ENERGY TANKS [03]

#01 This energy tank is in plain view in a 1x1 blue room near the top left area
of the map. You can either get it easily by approaching from the room to
your left, or by carefully jumping over a hidden hole in the floor if
coming from the other side. If you jump right when standing on the fourth
block from the right door, then you should get the tank without any
    trouble.

#02 This energy tank is found four rooms right of the save room that's closest
    to Ridley.

Roll right and set a bomb by the wall, then drop to the passage below and
head right for the energy tank.

#03 This energy tank is found in the same room as the Unknown Item.

Simply jump over the statue and shoot the 2x2 block, then continue left
through the wall and grab the energy tank.

MISSILES [13]

#01 This missile tank is in plain view, midway down the 1x6 shaft on the left
    side of the map.

#02 This missile tank is really hard to get, but you can get to it by starting
from the left end of the VERY long hallway that's to the right of the map
    room.

Jump the gap and approach the pipe, then get ready for some tricky moves.
Jump into the alcove above and shoot the blocks on your right, then run
right to the end of the passage. Run back left along the passage as your
speed booster activates and store the charge as you break the pair of
    blocks up ahead.

Quickly drop to the ground and run left, then fire a shot before you do a
spin jump over the gap. Jump slightly before hitting left to start a
shoulder charge into the ramp, then run left into the map room.

Shoot the left door open as you continue your run into the next room and
break through the ground in there. Drop into the fake lava now and shoot
the door open, then run through it as your speed booster kicks in.

Continue running in this room and store the charge before you hit the left
wall, then jump straight up as you launch to the ceiling. Grab the ledge
on your right as you fall and climb into the tunnel, then roll right and
hold right to land in the next tunnel.

Drop onto the crumbling block to your right and stand up, then jump into
the air before it disappears and grip the left tunnel on your way down.
Jump right from here and roll into the small tunnel, then drop into the
next shaft and stand up as you fall so that you can grip the left alcove on
    your way down.

Fire a missile at the block on your right and climb into that tunnel, then
roll right and get ready for some speedy moves. Face right and angle your
gun down, then leap into the air and fire a bunch of shots. Quickly roll
into a ball and roll right through the lower tunnel until the ground starts
crumbling below you, then hold left until you finally grab the missile
tank [MAKE SURE you DON'T hold left after getting the tank or you'll have
to do a lot of this over again when trying to get missile tank #03 below.

#03 This tricky missile tank is found in the same room as missile tank #02
above, and you actually get it right after getting that tank as I have
    outlined here.

From the end of missile tank #02 above:

Roll right unto the middle block that crumbles slower than the others, then
quickly [use the gap above to] stand up and hold left or right so that you
grab onto the ledge when the block disappears. You should be hanging on
one of the ledges right now, so press the opposite direction to where you
are hanging [ie: if you're hanging off the left ledge press right, and
    vice-versa].

Now tap up to aim your gun in that direction before firing a shot, then
fire a single missile at the block that your basic shots didn't get rid of.
Make a note of what ledge you're hanging off of and jump the opposite way
to grab the ledge above [ie: hanging off left ledge means jumping right and
    vice-versa].

Pull yourself up into the tunnel and take a breath as the blocks reappear
below you, then drop onto those blocks and fire one basic shot and three
missiles straight up. Jump up to the ledge and tunnel above you and wait
for the nearby blocks to reappear, then jump up to the waiting missile
    tank.

#04 This missile tank is really easy to get, it's near the middle of the VERY
long hallway that's to the right of the map room in plain view.

#05 This missile tank is EXTREMELY hard to get, but if you're up to the
challenge you'll be starting things off midway down [just right of a diving
bird enemy] the long 13x1 hallway beside the map room.

Shoot the ceiling here and jump into the passage above, then get read for
    some tricky moves.

Run right as your speed booster kicks in and start firing ahead of you to
break a pair of blocks, then store the charge before you reach the blocks.
Quickly drop to the ground and do a spinning jump over the gap as you shoot
the door and run into the next room.

Run down the larger ramp and do a shoulder charge right into the tiny ramp
[of the save room platform] to continue your fully-charged run, then shoot
the next door open as you run through it.

Quickly store the charge in the next room and do a series of three spinning
jumps to get over the red wall, onto the ledge above you and then onto the
small ledge on your right with the orange enemy circling it. Now quickly
do a shoulder charge right through the wall and catch your breath for a
    moment.

This just gets us to the right room, we still need to get the missiles from
inside the room [I told you it was hard].

Get as far left on this ledge as you can and start running right as you
shoot the door open. Continue running in the next room as your speed
booster activates, then store the charge before you hit the wall.

Quickly roll under the wall and stand up, then launch yourself up to the
ceiling and pull yourself into the alcove on your left. Take a breather
and get ready for another tricky section. Set a bomb and hold left as the
blocks start rapidly disappearing like a lit fuse. Hug the left wall as
you fall and roll left, then quickly hit up once to crouch before jumping
    left and pulling yourself up.

Quickly run to the wall and jump left before the block below you
disappears, if done right you should be hanging off a nearby block and not
    on the ground floor.

Quickly pull yourself up and rush left against the wall, then jump against
the left wall before you can think and do a wall jump to the floating pair
    of blocks on your right.

If you're gripping the top block you're almost home free, quickly jump left
before the block crumbles. Now pull yourself up and roll left as you drop
onto the missile tank and end this nightmare.

Of course you can also make this tank a whole lot easier by waiting until
you have the space jump. You can just jump around in the air until all the
blocks disappear, then grab the tank.

#06 This missile tank is somewhat tricky but now nearly as taxing as say #02,
#03, or #05 above. In order to get this missile you need to start from the
room where you got missile tank #05 though. So it makes sense to get them
both at once, since it's hard enough just getting to that room.

    Once in the right room:

Shoot the left door open and go right to the wall, then run back left
through the door as your speed booster activates. Store your charge
before you hit the nearby wall, then stand below the small alcove in the
ceiling and launch yourself up there. Now shoot the door open and run
right from the left wall into the next room as your speed booster kicks
    in.

Shoot as you run to take out a 3x3 group of blocks, then quickly fire a
missile at the lone purple block. Continue running through the blue blocks
and do a spinning jump before you hit the purple wall. If done properly
you should fly through the blocks in an arc and land by the missile tank,
now simply jump up to it.

#07 This missile is found in the blue 5x1 room near the right side of the map.

From the right end of the room:

Jump onto the grey platform and shoot the leapers and spawning enemies
ahead of you, then go left past a trio of spawning pipes and jump the gap
[if you shot away the grey platform, otherwise use it to get across].
Shoot the spawning enemies as you pass the first pipe, then drop into the
second pipe and shoot downward or use bombs to drop into a hidden area.
Shoot or bomb the grey ledge above the lava, then drop down into the fake
lava. Turn right and shoot the wall to reveal the missile tank, then roll
    into it.

#08 This missile tank is found in the room that's just left of missile tank #07
    above.

Roll left and jump to the tunnel below, then set a few bombs to free the
enemies above you. Kill the enemies and collect their items, then grab the
    missile tank that's on display.

#09 This missile tank is found in the room that's just left of missile tank #08
    above.

Crouch and freeze one of the enemies when he's on you're side of the
missile tank, then use him as a platform to jump up to it.

#10 This missile tank is found in the same room as super missile tank #03
    mentioned below.

Roll into a ball and jump against the right wall above to land in a hidden
passage, then follow it until you can stand once more. Don't go through
the door just yet, shoot the block above you instead and grab the missile
    tank inside.

#11 This missile tank is found in the room that's just left of missile tank #10
    above.

Roll into a ball and roll left into the shaft, then quickly get out of the
ball and grab the left tunnel as you fall. Jump right and grip the tunnel
that you came through originally, then jump left to the tunnel and the
    missile tank above.

#12 This missile tank is found in the same room as missile tank #11 above.

    From missile #11:

Roll right and get out of the ball as you fall so you can grip the left
tunnel below you, then shoot diagonally down at the block by the missile
tank. Jump into the air and quickly roll into a ball, then hug the right
wall as you fall to grab the missile tank.

#13 This missile tank is in the large blue room at the top right corner of the
map, you'll reach it after beating Ridley.

From the right end of the room:

Jump the pair of gaps to reach a spawning pipe, then go left a little and
lure an enemy over to you. Freeze him above you and use him as a platform
to reach a ledge above you, then head right for the missile tank.

SUPER MISSILES [03]

#01 This super missile tank is in the room where you fight the alien bee boss,
in fact it's your reward for beating the boss so you can't really miss it.

#02 This super missile tank is found in the same room as missile tank #08
above, the instructions below continue from the end of that [missile tank
    #08's] description.

Jump left and pull yourself up into the small alcove, then set a bomb to
create a passage above you. Jump left and pull yourself up, then jump
right and crouch before firing a super missile at the block on your right.
Roll right and set a bomb when you can't go any further, then watch the
blocks disappear like a lit fuse. Once they're gone one block should
remain, so shoot that one and grab the super missile tank inside.

#03 This super missile tank is found in plain view two rooms right of missile
    tank #09 mentioned above.

==================
TOURIAN [02 ITEMS]
==================

MISSILES [01]

#01 First return to Tourian using the method described in power bomb tank #01
below, then go use the closest save room.

Enter the hallway on your left and run all the way down it, then store the
speed booster's charge before you hit a block and quickly enter the next
    room.

Space jump left above the column on your left, then press up to stop
spinning. Fall slightly so that your head is beside the bottom block of
the two [breakable] blocks on the column, then do a shoulder charge left.

If you've done this properly you'll fly left through a bunch of breakable
blocks and into the shaft beyond, then you'll fly through some more blocks
and land in a small room full of blocks.

Shoot away the blocks and shoot the floor on your right, then grab the
    missile tank there.

POWER BOMBS [01]

#01 Head for the room with the Norfair elevator next and get ready for some
speed booster antics. Set a power bomb to clear away a couple of blocks,
then run left from the right door as you shoot the left door open and run
    into the next room.

Continue running left as you go through some water and blast through a
wall, then shoot the door up ahead as you run through.

Store the charge before you hit the wall, then jump over it and onto the
ground on the other side. Quickly do a shoulder charge into the left hill
and hold left so that you keep running, then store the charge before you
drop off the hill. Now walk left and do a shoulder charge left, then hold
left as you continue running through the wall beyond. Take a break and go
through the door on your left, then work your way to the Tourian elevator
    and ride it down.

Drop all the way down to the bottom of the shaft, then go right to the room
    where you fought Mother Brain.

Bomb her platform to find a super missile block, then shoot that block with
a super missile and drop down to the power bomb tank in the room below.

CHOZODIA [18 ITEMS]
===================

ENERGY TANKS [03]

#01 This energy tank is the HARDEST ITEM in the entire game to get, so prepare
    for lots of frustration.

That aside you will start your journey to get this item in the same room as
super missile tank #01 below, so the description will continue where that
    one left off.

Shoot away the blocks above you and return to the left wall, then run back
right as your speed booster kicks in. Store the charge just below the gap
that you created, then do a SPINNING jump left and quickly do a shoulder
    charge left.

[For all of the instances where you need to shoulder charge into a ramp,
you MUST hold left or right until you hit the ramp and start running. If
you fail to do this Samus will stop when she hits the ramp. However once
she starts running you can store the charge and continue onward.]

You'll start running when you hit the small ramp so quickly store your
charge once more before you hit the wall. Now space jump left to reach the
ledge above and do a shoulder charge right into the ramp, then quickly
store the charge yet again before you hit the wall.

Space jump right and land on the next ledge, then do a shoulder charge left
and quickly store another charge. Space jump to the ledge on your right
and do a shoulder charge right into the nearby hill as you break into a
    run.

Shoot the door open as you enter the next room, then quickly store another
charge as you use a screw attack on the blocks. Run off the ledge and hug
the left wall until you land on a small ledge, then quickly store the
charge once more before you fall right to the next ledge. Do a shoulder
charge right as you fly over a great distance and eventually land in a
    well-deserved energy tank.

#02 Go to the blue 1x3 room at the top right corner of the map.

Run right to the door but don't open it, instead run back left as your
speed booster kicks in and do a low jump before you hit the short wall. If
done right you should create a hole in the floor, so drop down it and get
    ready for some tricky moves.

You basically need to use the space jump as you go right, but you can't
touch any of the security lasers or a security door at the end of the hall
closes. There isn't really any trick, it just takes a lot of practice.
However once you get it right you'll get an energy tank at the end of the
    room.

You can also get this energy tank by opening up the hole to the laser room
like normal, then running from the right end of the room above to the hole
and storing the charge. Quickly drop down the hole and run right off the
ledge, then do a shoulder charge right before you hit the laser below.
This should put you low enough that you miss all the lasers above you and
fly right into the energy tank [and it's MUCH easier than trying to space
jump your way past the lasers].

#03 From the end of power bomb #04 below:

Drop back down the shaft and head left to the glass tube room. Work your
way to the bottom left corner of this room and set a power bomb, then head
left and drop to the bottom of the shaft before using the save room on your
    right.

Go right past the shaft to a room with a gradual hill, then shoot the
enemies inside as you wait by the top left door. Run right down the hill
and shoot the door open as your speed booster kicks in, then store the
charge in the shaft. Walk right below the left side of the platform above
you, then do a super jump to grab an energy tank high above.

MISSILES [01]

#01 This missile tank is accessed from the same room as super missile #01
below, so the description will continue from where that one ends.

Shoot the blocks above you and climb the ledge above, then head left and
use your space jump to reach the top of the room. Head right to the next
room and use your screw attack to break the blocks, then hug the left wall
as you fall to land in a small alcove.

Fire a missile at the top left corner of the alcove to create a hole, then
roll left through it to get the missile tank.

SUPER MISSILES [08]

#01 Go to the room to the right of the closest save point once you have your
suit back for this super missile tank.

Shoot a missile at the small bridge over the water, then drop down and use
your speed booster as you run through the wall on your right and grab the
    super missile tank.

#02 Go to the bottom of the green 8x1 shaft mentioned in missile tank #01 above
and go left at the bottom.

Now roll left to the wall and use a bomb to drop into the lava, then roll
right and follow the passage for the super missile tank.

#03 This super missile tank is in the room right of the green J-shaped room
near the bottom left corner of the map.

Roll under the wall [or bomb the blocks from above] to reach the bottom of
the room, then shoot the left wall to reveal a super missile tank and a
missile-block. Shoot the missile-block with a missile, then grab the super
    missile tank.

#04 This super missile tank is found in the blue 4x1 shaft that's 2 rooms left
of the alien ship in the top right section of the map.

Shoot the space pirates and use the screw attack to get on the first ledge,
then use some missiles to get through the left side of the ceiling. Go
towards the crack on the right side of the ceiling and fire a missile at
it, then fire a normal shot and jump up through the hole. Roll left to the
robot and shoot it until it walks left, then go up and grab the super
    missile tank.

#05 Once you have the power bombs head back towards the ship on your map and
stop when you reach the first blue 1x3 shaft. Head to the bottom of that
shaft and use a power bomb to get through the yellow door.

Shoot the right the wall and set a bomb by it, then start shooting at the
space pirates below as you fall. Grab any items that they leave behind and
space jump up to the super missile tank above.

#06 Work your way down to the map room and use a missile to get through the red
    door there.

Kill the space pirates here as you head right, then shoot the ceiling in
the middle of the room to find a super missile tank. Fire a missile at the
block below the tank, then jump up and grab it.

#07 Head to the sloping green 2x2 room in power bomb #04 below, then go left to
    the next room.

Use your screw attack if you want to kill the enemies here, then drop to
the bottom of the shaft and head left to the next room.

Go to the middle of the room and jump up to a hidden passage above, then
kill the enemies as you roll left and work your way up to a second branch.
Head right here until you reach the top of the passage, then roll left and
bomb the wall to get the super missile tank.

#08 From the end of super missile tank #07 above:

Drop back down to the room below and take the door on your left.

Head left as you shoot above you to reveal a lot of bomb blocks, then set a
bomb by the lowest bomb block just above you when you're near the left
wall. Jump into the passage and follow it right as you bomb your way up
into the next one. Roll right and jump to the higher of the two tunnels
above, then follow it left as you bomb the blocks above you. Enter the
left of the two passages and bomb the blocks on your left to get the super
    missile tank.

POWER BOMBS [06]

#01 First head to the large room that's two rooms left of the highest save room
    on your map.

Shoot a space pirate as you roll under the wall, then run left and drop
down to the next room. Roll through the passage and drop down into the
next room, then use bombs to roll left as you watch a space pirate carry
away a power bomb tank. Drop to the ground and open the door, then go
through it to the next room.

Carefully use the space jump to get over the beams and pick up the power
    bomb tank.

#02 Use a power bomb to get through the right door in the last room in power
    bomb tank #01 above.

Set a power bomb to clear away some blocks above you, then use the space
jump to get up there. Kill the pair of space pirates and grab the power
    bomb tank.

#03 Head for the bottom right corner of the map once you have the power bombs,
then go left to the next area.

Jump onto the metal ledge on your left and set a power bomb, then roll left
to grab the power bomb tank.

#04 Head to the bottom of the blue 1x8 shaft and take the door left to the
    glass tube.

Head to the middle of the tube and set a power bomb to shatter it, then
drop down to the bottom right corner and use a power bomb. Walk left to
the wall, then run right as your speed booster activates and you run
through a pair of blocks. Quickly store the charge before you hit the
wall, then do a super jump up to the top of the shaft [you can also use the
space jump as you pass all the space pirates but this way is faster]. Once
at the top of the shaft simply grab the power bomb tank there.

#05 Enter Chozodia from the top left room in Crateria, then run right and drop
down the short shaft. Shoot left to find a power bomb tank, then jump and
fire a missile at the block in front of the tank before climbing inside and
    grabbing it.

#06 Work your way to the green 8x1 shaft and look for the spot on the left wall
where giant blocks cover a tunnel. Use a power bomb to get rid of the
blocks, then enter the tunnel and roll all the way left into the open.
Jump to the highest tunnel and roll right to the end, then shoot a space
pirate. Fire a missile at the middle of the ceiling above and jump up, then
    grab the power bomb tank.

-------------------
Metroid Fusion Link
-------------------

If you have a friend with Metroid Fusion, you can use a link cable to link your
Metroid: Zero Mission game to his Metroid Fusion game. By doing this you get
all five of the endings from Metroid Fusion for your art gallery and a few
extra shots too.

----------------
Original Metroid
----------------

This feature is accessed through the options screen and it allows you to play
the original NES version of Metroid. This is the VERY first game in the series
and the game that Zero Mission was based on. Zero Mission was a remake of the
original Metroid game.

The controls are basically the same though:

A - Jump.
B - Attack.
Start - Pause.
Select - Switch between basic shots and missiles.

L+R - When pressed together these bring up a menu where you can activate sleep
mode, quit or reset the game.

The original Metroid game used a password feature to keep track of your
progress, and use you still use this feature. However you can also save your
game whenever you die since it's easier to use than a long, complicated
password.

If you want to try playing as Samus outside of her suit in this old game though
input the following password:

JUSTIN BAILEY
------ ------

As long as the top letters are all in uppercase and the bottom characters are
hyphens [dashes] the password should work fine.

---------------
Hard Difficulty
---------------

Now you can start a new game and play it on hard difficulty if you wish [as
only easy and normal were available before].

                                (I) EXPERIMENTAL
###############################################################################

For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom
here. Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had
the same idea.

I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to
send money, so it's here for those people.

For the record I've received about $87 (which works out to a bit more in
Canadian lol) last I checked, so I've been getting cases of pop and making some
excellent progress on a few FAQs.

If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to
hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement.

My email address is fecalord (AT) gmail (DOT) com, and the paypal address is
listed below.

For those that want to contribute, you can use paypal at the following address:

Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work!
