Star Wars: Flight of the Falcon
Review by Hero of Time22
"WOW We can play as the millenium falcon in the most famous Star Wars battles!!!!....................Stay away STAY FAR AWAY!"
Let me just say I am a hue Star Wars fan and I usually love every Star Wars game. But this game really isn't what your looking for. This game may sound like a mini Rogue Squadron, but I made the mistake of thinking that as well. I was really excited about this game when I heard about it. So I decided to pick it up for 30$ (should of been 10$ if you ask me!) and at first I was playing it and I was like, well alright were just getting started, maybe it will get better? WRONG.....WRONG. I'll explain why in my review.
Graphics 5/10
The graphics up close look pretty good, but from afar, it's really bad. The ships such as the Tie Fighters are really messed up looking. The Millennium Falcon itself looks like a thin grey Waffle! Not like the real model. But some of the capital ships are pretty sharp looking. Hey the Star Destroyers are half bad at all. But all in all this games graphics even for the GBA are not that smooth.
Sound 7/10
The sound in this game might just be the best thing about the game. Its the famous Star Wars music so of course they are gonna be pretty good even for a pocket size speaker! I've always loved the Star Wars music and will always be a bunch of beats beating in my head. I mean who can forget them? So yes the sound in this game is great. Even the laser shots sound pretty good as well. Sound is a plus!
Game play 3/10
This is the bad part! The game play of this game is pretty direct. You fly the Millennium Falcon (Along with some other ships in certain places) through some famous battles and others. Sounds good I think. Not a bad idea. But all you do in this game is just fly straight the whole time! You don't explore the levels. YOU JUST GO STRAIGHT! You have to hit and kill targets. Trying to make this game like Star Fox just didn't seem to work. The game doesn't even SAVE! Are you kidding me! You actually have to put in a password to continue on the episode you were on. I know thats the way some GBA games are, but I always thought it was kind of weak.
Controls 4/10
Controls are simple really. You use the A button to shoot your main laser, the B button to shoot missiles, the R button to accelerate, and the L button to brake. WOW so simple. Thats all you have to know for the whole game. Its pretty easy, I learned it well....in 3 seconds. So I wasn't really too impressed.
Replay Value 4/10
The Replay isn't so great. Unless you like to replay some miniature straightaway battles. Which some might find exciting, I wasn't to impressed with the game much so I don't think ill be replaying it.
Overall 5/10
This game could of been so much more. I wasn't to impressed so I hope I helped you save a few bucks. You may not always want to take my view on this game into you decision. But I hoped I've helped you a lot!
