+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

This guide presents you with the complete game script that you will read
whilst playing through The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap for Game Boy
Advance. It does not contain every single piece of text spoken by every
character in the game; it only details what you have to read to progress
through the game from start to finish.

These sort of guides can be very helpful to many people, especially when
describing important parts of the game's story and when in need of a
reference to something said. Of course, if you happened to miss something
that was said in the game, you can always use this guide to check back too.

Hopefully this guide will be helpful to many of you out there.

Please be aware that this guide will contain spoilers about the story.
Try to avoid reading bits that you haven't come across yet to to refrain
from this.

                                  Story [mcsty]
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

To quote from the Story section of the European instruction booklet:

Long, long ago, evil spirits appeared in the land of Hyrule and just as the
world was about to be cast in the darkest of shadows... the tiny Picori
descended from the skies and bestowed on a courageous human a shining golden
light and a single sword. This bravest of men used his wisdom and courage,
his golden light and his sword to fight off the demons, and restore peace to
the world.

The people were so grateful to the Picori that they began to hold a Picori
Festival once a year. And then, long after, when the Picori have passed into
legend...

Princess Zelda of the Kingdom of Hyrule comes to invite her childhood friend
Link to go and see the Picori Festival with her. There is a legend in the
land of Hyrule that goes...

"Just once in every 100 years, a secret door opens, and the Picori come to
visit."

This year is that year in 100, and the festival is unusually grand.

A Sword-Fighting Tournament that calls to mind the heroes of legend is taking
place at Hyrule Castle during the festival. This year's champion is a man by
the name of Vaati. He wins the tournament with some ease, using dubious
means that the brave men assembled there could not hope to match. And yet,
not a single person knows this shadowy figure.

Exactly who could Vaati be? And what is he really up to...?

(Text between hyphens are said by the narrator)

--------------------------------
A long, long time ago...

when the world was on the verge of being swallowed by shadow...

The tiny Picori appeared from the sky, bringing the hero of men a sword and a
golden light.

With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness.

When peace had been restored, the people enshrined that blade with care.
--------------------------------
(The screen then fades and you see a girl with yellow hair entering a house.
She then walks up to the smith. The girlís name is Zelda.)

Zelda: Good morning, Master Smith.

Smith: Goodness me! Princess Zelda! Did you sneak out of the castle and come
all this way alone? The minister is sure to be worried about you! You know how
he gets!

Zelda: Oh, don't worry about him! He'll be fine. Where's Link? The whole town
is bustling for the annual Picori Festival! I thought he and I might go
together. Would you mind terribly?

Smith: Oh, is that what you're here for? Well, Link was up late helping me last
night, and he's still asleep... But I do have an errand at the castle... Yes,
that should be fine. Link, time to get up!

(The screen fades to Link's room.)

Smith: (Yelling from downstairs) Link, time to get up!

(Link jumps out of bed. When you walk downstairs into the next room...)

Smith: Hey! Link! Princess Zelda is here. She'd like to know if you'd join her
at the festival.

Zelda: Yeah, Link. Come on! Let's go check out the festival together! Master
Smith already gave me permission to take you!

Smith: Yes. After all, the festival only comes once a year. Go on, have fun!
And while you're there, you can do me a favor. I just finished making this
Sword for the minister as Hyrule Castle. I'd like you to deliver it to him.

(Link walks up and grabs the sword.)

--------------------------------
You accepted the Smiths Sword!

Make sure you don't lose this extremely important delivery!
--------------------------------

Smith: This is the blade that will be presented to the winner of the
competition. Don't lose it. And while the two of you may be childhood friends,
remember... Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. You watch over her. Don't let
anything bad happen to her.

Zelda: Master Smith, quit worrying! We'll be perfectly safe. Come on, Link!
Let's go check out the festival!

(Princess Zelda leaves the house. Once you exit the house...)

Zelda: Link! Over here!

(Once you catch up to her...)

Zelda: Link! Hurry! Let's go!

(Once you catch up to her again...)

Zelda: Over here! Come on! Hurry up!

(Once you catch up to her again...)

Zelda: Well, here we are! The town of Hyrule!

(You follow Princess Zelda into Hyrule. It shows a nice view of the festival
and all the people at it. The camera then goes down to Link and Zelda.)

Zelda: Here we are, Link! Doesn't it look fun? Come on! Let's look around!

(Once you talk to Zelda...)

Zelda: Link, there's a storyteller here! We should stop here and listen to--
Oh! I wonder what's over there...

(Princess Zelda runs to another location.)

(Once you talk to Zelda again...)

Zelda: So the Picori ARE real! My father always told me they were. Oh! Look at
that!

(Princess Zelda runs to another location.)

(Once you talk to Zelda again...)

Zelda: Say, wasn't there going to be a sword-fighting tournament at the castle?
I wonder who won this year... Oh, wow! Over here!

(Princess Zelda runs to another location.)

(Once you talk to Zelda again, the guy next to you rings a bell.)

Guy: We have a winner! Oh, my! Princess Zelda! You won the grand prize in our
drawing? Wow! You get your choice of any of these wonderful prizes. What will
it be?

(A Heart Piece appears on the first pedestal)

Guy: First, we have...this lovely heart-shaped stone! Next we have...

(A Red Rupee appears on the second pedestal)

Guy: this magnificent gem! And finally, there's

(A Shield appears on the final pedestal)

Guy: this teeny-tiny shield. So, which one would you like? Let me guess...the
jewel? Oh, but this heart stone is very cute, too. Choose whichever one you
like!

(Zelda walks up to the shield)

Zelda The shield is so adorable! I think I'll take it.

Guy: What? Why? Why would you want that ugly thing!? What about this heart
stone! It's cute! Or... Or this giant gem! It's pretty! Honestly, they're both
much nicer than that nasty little shield thing.

Zelda: Nope! I want the shield. Can I have it?

Guy: What a strange princess you are. Well... OK. Here's your teeny-tiny
shield.

(Zelda looks at Link)

Zelda: Here! I want to give you a present! Doesn't this shield suit you
perfectly, Link?

--------------------------------
Princess Zelda gave you a small shield!

Hold the button to protect yourself.

...It IS a little embarrassing, though. It's so tiny!
--------------------------------

(Link tries out his new shield)

Zelda: Yep! Just as I thought! You look great! Now, if anything happens, you
can protect me with that shield! Oh! I almost forgot! We have to take Master
Smith's sword to the castle. Let's go Link!

(After Link and Zelda exit Hyrule)

Zelda: Come on, Link. Let's hurry to the castle.

(Zelda walks off screen. You follow her and a Deku Scrub hits her)

Zelda: Owwwwch! That must be the Business Scrub I heard the soldiers talking
about. They were saying a Deku Scrub had been hassling all the passersby.
Link, do something about it. Otherwise, we cannot get to the castle. If only
we had some way to defend ourselves against those nuts of his.

(Link uses his shield to deflect the nut being thrown at him.)

Deku Scrub: Please! Forgive me, sir! I heard there was a festival, and I came
to town hoping to hawk my wares. Unfortunately, we scrubs have a tendency to
spit nuts when we speak! Everyone got scared and ran away, and no one would
buy anything! This is a terrible place to do business! I'm going back to my
cave!

(The Deku Scrub vanishes in thin air. Link looks at Zelda)

Zelda: I actually feel a little sorry for that Business Scrub. But that nut
hurt! Oh, well. He won't be hassling anyone now! We'd better hurry to the
castle!

(Link and Zelda enter the garden leading to the castle. There, they talk to a
old guy, who is named Potho.)

Potho: Oh, Link! You brought the sword, did you? Then, as minister to the
kingdom of Hyrule, I, Potho, accept this blade. You came just in time. The
award ceremony will begin soon.

Zelda: I'm sorry, Link, but I'd better go. I have to prepare for the ceremony.
I had a good time at the festival. Thanks for coming with me!

(Zelda enters the castle.)

Potho: Since you're here, Link, why don't you join us for the award
ceremony?

(The screen fades. Then, its appears again right where they are standing.
Four
guards come out carrying a sword.)

Potho: Do you know about that sword, Link? It is called the Picori Blade, and
it locks much evil away in that chest. The Picori Blade is sacred among the
people of Hyrule. The legend has it that, long ago, the Picori gave us this
blade. Whoever wins the competition earns the honor of touching the sacred
blade.

(The King of Hyrule and Zelda walk out of the castle.)

Potho: Let the award ceremony commence! Vaati, champion of the competition,
you may approach the blade!

(Vaati comes in and walks up to the sword)

Vaati: Heh heh heh... To think things would go well! The Picori Blade and the
Bound Chest spoken of in Hylian lore... This chest must hold that which I
seek! I'll relieve you of its contents now.

(Vaati faces the sword. All the guards come forth and attack Vaati. The guards
are easily overpowered. Two more guards come up to him.)

Vaati: Mmmm ah hah hah hah! Do not interfere with me... As victor, I've earned
the right to approach the Picori Blade... I've been waiting for this moment!

(Vaati kills the last two guards. He opens the chest and evil monsters fly
out. A yellow light surrounds Zelda and she steps towards Vaati.)

Zelda: Who are you? Why are you doing this?

Vaati: The princess who holds the power of light... That mysterious power
is said to flow in the veins of every royal lady in your family ever since
that day when it was gifted to your people. If I leave you now,
you'll only cause me trouble later. That will never do.

(Vaati charges up an energy ball aiming towards Zelda and Link
steps in front of her with his shield raised)

Vaati: To stone with you!

(Vaati shoots the energy ball and Link is knocked unconscious to
the floor. It hits Zelda and she turns to stone)

Vaati: Heh heh heh heh... All who stand in my way shall share this fate!
Now, to find out what power awaits me in this chest!

(Vaati walks over and peers into the chest)

Vaati: ...?!? Empty? There was nothing in there but those monsters?
What is the meaning of this? Well, I know the force I'm after is somewhere
out there. I'm in no hurry. I can take my time searching for it. Heh heh
heh...

(Vaati disappears and the scene switches to Link resting in a bed at
Hyrule Castle. He wakes and joins Smith, the king of Hyrule, Potho,
six soldiers and Zelda who is turned to stone in the throne room)

Smith: Oh, Link. You're awake. Are you feeling all right?
Stand at my side. The king of Hyrule is about to speak.

King of Hyrule: It is as you have all heard. A man named Vaati has cursed
my fair Zelda and turned her to stone. If we had the sacred Picori Blade,
we likely could have broken the curse. But Vaati shattered the blade...
However, I have not given up hope. What do you know about the Picori?

Smith: The Picori? You mean...those thumb-sized little imps from the fairy
tales?

King: Yes, the same. But the Picori are no mere legend. They most certainly
exist. No one outside of the royal family knows the truth about them. The
Picori, who forged the sacred blade, live deep within Minish Woods.
They should be able to repair the broken blade and reforge the sword.

Potho: Wh-What!? Then we must dispatch the soldiers there at once!

King: No, soldiers will not do. The Picori do not show themselves to
anyone but children. Our soldiers could search for days and still no sign of
them.

Smith: I see... If that's the case, then why not send Link?

King: If Link has recovered, then yes, I would like to ask this of him.
Please, turn my precious Zelda back to normal. The Picori should
know how to create a new sacred sword. It will be a dangerous journey,
now that those monsters have been freed. Please, take this sword with
you, along with the broken Picori Blade.

(Link walks over to the King)

--------------------------------
You accepted the Broken Picori Blade!

This is part of the sword needed to reforge the sacred sword. Don't lose it!
--------------------------------

--------------------------------
You got the Smith's Sword!

It's a sharp blade made by your grandfather.
--------------------------------

King: Very well, then. Send the soldiers to search for Vaati at once!

(The soldiers run out of the room)

King: Deep within the Minish Woods, you will find a place called
Deepwood Shrine. Once, humans and Picori shared that shrine
as a meeting place. I think it would be best if you started your
search there.

(Smith walks over to Link)

Smith: Take this map with you. If you get lost on your way to the forest,
simply check your map. Just press START and then L or R to open the
map. Good luck, and be careful.

--------------------------------
You got a map of Hyrule!

Now, you'll never get lost!
--------------------------------

King: I am counting on you, Link. Only you can break Vaati's curse
and free Princess Zelda.

(Link sets off and enters the Minish Woods. After a little wandering,
he hears a voice)

Voice: Helllllp!!! Help meeee!!!

(The scene switches to a bird-like cap taking a beating by two
octoroks. One octorok shoots him)

Cap: Ouch! Won't somebody stop them!?

(The other octorok shoots him)

Cap: Ow! Ow! Help...Somebody! Can't anybody hear me?

(Link finds the talking cap and the two octoroks)

Cap: Hey! Kid! You there!

(One octorok shoots him)

Cap: Ow! hey! Don't just stand there! Do something!!!

(The other octorok shoots him)

Cap: ow! What's wrong with you!? Do you like watching me take
this abuse!? Help me!

(Link defeats the two octoroks)

Cap: Phew! Well done! That was close. Not that I couldn't handle
them myself. But that's beside the point! What in the world is
a lone child doing so deep in the woods? Ho ho! I see.
The...Picori, you say? And Vaati? Vaati's cursed someone?
What? The sacred blade?!? Is that so? I see, I see... You know, you
and I have a lot in common. You see, I, too, am on a quest to break
a curse of Vaati's. And you say that reforging the sacred blade can
break his curse, eh? Well, then you have found yourself a companion,
my boy! My name is Ezlo. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

(Ezlo follows Link, hopping behind)

Ezlo: Wait! Wait, I say! You walk so quickly! Too quickly, in fact!
Can't you go any slower? Surely you've noticed I have no legs...

(Link walks some more)

Ezlo: Boy! Take a good look at me! Do you really think I can walk that
fast!?

(Link walks some more)

Ezlo: Augh! If it isn't one thing, it's another! You are a troublesome boy!

(Ezlo jumps on top of Link's head and acts as a normal cap)

Ezlo: There! Now, you can't possibly leave me behind. My... It's quite
comfortable up here. more comfortable than it looks, surely.
Any much easier on me! Hey! Quit your squirming! Can't you sit still?
See! There... Yes, yes! That's it. Much better. Now, I suppose a boy
like you still have much to learn about the world. If ever you need
my insight, press SELECT. I'll be happy to help! Ah, such a helpless
child...

(Link continues through the forest and comes across a tree stump)

Ezlo: Hold on for a moment, my boy! We've stumbled across something
very important! The world of the Minish is very small. You're far too
big to meet them now. Eh? Who are the Minish? Ah, yes! Silly me!
Allow me to explain... You humans call them the "Picori," but they
refer to themselves as the Minish! Strange how, in the world of
humans, only this forest has kept that name... Anyhow, deep in the
forest they built a tiny village, where many now live. But if we're
to enter the village, we'll have to make you a touch smaller first.
Look at that. At first glance, it appears to be a mere stump, yes?
No! That stump is a portal used by the people long ago to adjust
their size! With my help, you can use it to shrink down to
Minish size. Just stand on the stump and press R to shrink. To
return to normal, stand next to the stump and press R. Get me up
there and we'll give it a try.

(Link steps onto the stump and shrinks down to Minish size)

Ezlo: Welcome to the world through the eyes of the Minish! Now,
aren't you glad you saved me? No need to thank me, though!
Portals that reduce your size are all around, in different shapes
and sizes. If you want to return to normal, stand next to a portal
and press R. But there is one thing you must know: being Minish-sized
is full of dangers! Mere puddles at your normal size are bottomless
swamps to the Minish. And as your companion, if anything bad
happens to you, it happens to me, too! So proceed with caution,
my lad! If not for your sake, then for my own!

(Link enters the Minish village)

Ezlo: Hmm... It appears we have found the Minish village.

(five Minish appear and surround Link)

Minish: Pico picori!

Minish: Ripi ripico picori!

Minish: Picoco pico ripico!

(The Minish run off)

Ezlo: I gather it's been quite some time since they last saw a human...
What's that? You didn't understand what they were saying just now?
Ah, yes. That was the language of the Minish. It's a little different from
the dialect I am most familiar with. I'm afraid I didn't catch most of what
they said myself. But perhaps there is someone here who understands
your language. We should look around.

(Link wanders around the village and finds a Minish priest)

Festari: Hm... I've never seen an outfit like that before.
Are you a...human? Oh, my! It's been quite some time since
any humans came here. My name is Festari. I watch the abbey,
as well as the shrine to the north. You...seem to be having
some trouble with our language, don't you? You could use a
Jabber Nut. It will allow you to understand our tongue. You
should be able to find one in the barrel house just south of here.

(Link enters the barrel house)

Ezlo: Oh, Link. This must be the Jabber Nut Festari told you about.
Well, you'd better eat it if you plan on making any progress at all.

--------------------------------
You ate the Jabber Nut!

Now you can understand the language of the Minish.
--------------------------------

(Link returns to the priest)

Festari: So you've eaten the Jabber Nut and now you can understand
us? ...Sorry, but I know little about swords. I'm sure the elder
can help you.

(Link finds the Minish elder)

Gentari: Oh! You speak our language! It's been quite a while since
we've heard outsiders speak our tongue! We have little to offer
you in these woods, but please, enjoy your stay.

Ezlo: Thank you for your offer, but we have no time to relax.
My name is Ezlo. This child is Link. We need to break a curse
that has been cast on the princess of Hyrule. To do so, we'll
need to reforge the broken Picori Blade.

Gentari: Ah, yes. And you've come here now to have the blade
reforged? If you want the blade reforged, you will need the four
elements. These are the crystalline forms of the energies that
fill our world. Only by infusing the blade with these energies
can a new blade be forged. Here, give me your map. I can mark
where these elements can be found. The Earth Element can be
found in the shrine to the north of Festari's abbey. Speak with
Festari. He will show you the path to the shrine's entrance.
Go with caution. Evil creatures have lately made their home
in our shrine. Return to me at once after you have found the
Earth Element.

(Link goes to speak with Festari)

Festari: You wish to go to the shrine? Very well. This way...

(Festari moves away to reveal a path to the shrine)

Festari: Vile beasts have settled in recently. Be careful: it is quite
dangerous.

(Link enters the Deepwood Shrine)

Ezlo: So this would be the Deepwood Shrine the Minish elder
spoke of... He...said something about their being monsters inside,
didn't he? He-Hey now! No reason to be afraid or anything...
I'll be waiting right here. No, wait! What am I saying!? I'm not
letting you leave me alone out here!

(Link comes across a locked door)

Ezlo: Hmph! There's a locked door here! See if you can find a key to
open it.

(Link comes across a lever)

Ezlo: Do you see that lever? I think you should be able to pull it.
Just stand in front of it and press R to grab it, then press the D-Pad
to pull it.

(Link comes across a barrel)

Ezlo: Wow! Look at the size of that barrel! Hm? Oh, right! Right!
How silly of me! It's not big; we're just small!

(Link burns away the leaves on the barrel and enters it)

Ezlo: Wha--!? Hey, be careful, my lad! The barrel just moved!

(Link comes across a switch)

Ezlo: What we need now is something to hold down this switch...

(Link enters a room with two statues)

Ezlo: Once you take hold of something with R, use the D-Pad to push
or pull it. This is extremely important, so I hope you take pains to
remember it!

(Link encounters a Madderpillar and defeats it)

--------------------------------
You got the Gust Jar!

Hold the button to draw things in, and release it to fire them out!

Set it to A or B on the Items screen to use it!
--------------------------------

(Link soon lands in a watery room)

Ezlo: Now what? Unless we find a way to travel by water, we
won't be going much further.

--------------------------------
You got the Big Key!

Use it to open big doors!
--------------------------------

(Link defeats the giant green chuchu and receives the Earth Element)

--------------------------------
You got the Earth Element!

The power of the earth is the source of all living things

The Earth Element is the embodiment of that power.
--------------------------------

(Link uses a green portal that appears to exit the shrine)

Ezlo: Ah, we've got the Earth Element! You must go tell the elder at once!

(Link returns to the elder)

Gentari: So! You have found the Earth Element! You are blessed
with much courage and strength for one so young. If your conviction
holds strong, head to Mount Crenel. There, you will find a man named
Melari. Among all the Minish, there is no one more able to repair your
sword. If you ask him, he will surely reforge the broken Picori Blade.
I shall send word to him in advance. Travel safely. You are brave,
but there are many evils now in the world.

(The elder reveals a door behind a curtain)

Gentari: Leave through this door here. It will take you out of the
forest quickly.

Ezlo: Great elder, we are in your debt. We shall head for Mount
Crenel at once!

(After exiting the village via the hidden door, Link comes across
a small mushroom house and enters)

Belari: Green clothes? And a mystical hat?!? Sir! Would you by
chance be Link, the one who found the Earth Element? Surely you
are! I have heard so many tales about you. I am Belari, researcher
of antiquities. I am also, well, a bit of an inventor. You know, you
won't be able to get back to town, due to all the debris.. Here, I
have something that might come in handy.

--------------------------------
You got a Bomb Bag!

And it has ten bombs in it! Now you can blow up lots of stuff!
--------------------------------

(Link returns to Hyrule Town and the Hurdy-Gurdy Man spots him)

HGM: Come one, come all! See how many Kinstone pieces you can
collect! You never know what fusing Kinstones will do, but it's sure
to be good! Come on up and get your free Kinstone bag for holding
your Kinstone pieces! Don't miss out on this incredible,
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Yes, yes. You're here for your
free Kinstone bag, aren't you? That's right! Maybe you didn't hear
me, but they're free for all kids right now!

--------------------------------
You got a Kinstone bag!

You can now carry Kinstone pieces with you. Press START to view
its contents from your Quest Status screen.
--------------------------------

HGM: Fitting two Kinstone pieces together is called Kinstone Fusion.
If you get two pieces to fit perfectly, great happiness will come your
way! I'll put a Kinstone piece in your Kinstone bag so you can give it
a try. Anyone who's ready and willing to fuse Kinstones will look like
I do right now. When you see that look in their eyes, that's when you
press L! Use the D-Pad to choose a Kinstone piece, and press A to try
fusing it! Did you catch all of that?

(Link says "Yes")

HGM: Then stand in front of me and press L so we can fuse Kinstones!

(After you press L...)

HGM: Yes, yes. That's it. Press L! Then you can see the Kinstone screen.

(You select your Kinstone piece and fuse with the Hurdy-Gurdy Man)

The two Kinstone pieces fit perfectly!
Maybe something good will happen!

(The scene switches to show what the effects of the Kinstone Fusion were)

HGM: A perfect fit! That means we're both due for a little happiness! See
ya!

(The Hurdy-Gurdy Man walks off. Link then tries to leave Hyrule Town
to head for Mount Crenel but a soldier blocks his path)

Soldier: Just because you have a sword and a shield doesn't mean you'll
be safe! I can't let you go out there alone! Not until you know some
sword techniques.

(Link enters Swiftblade's dojo)

Swiftblade: I am Swiftblade, finest swordsman in all of Hyrule!
If you train with me, I guarantee that you will increase your skill
dramatically! So? Would you like to train here?

(Link says "Please")

Swiftblade: We shall start with the most basic of all techniques!
I shall teach you...the Spin Attack!
First!! Press and hold your sword button...
Second!! Build up enough power...
Third!! Releeeease your destructive might!!
That's all, young swordsman!!
Do you understand?

(Link says "Yes")

Swiftblade: Haha! Very good!
You are a quick student. But one must FEEL there technique, not just
hear about it! That's why I will now possess your body so as to demonstrate
the technique! I call this the Swiftblade Switcheroo technique of training!
Watch this!!
Urrngh!! Switch...Ah...Roo!

(Swiftblade performs the Spin Attack for Link)

Swiftblade: Phew... Now! You must try it yourself! Press and
hold your sword button. Build up enough power. Then, release your
destructive
might!! That's all there is to it!

(Link performs the Spin Attack)

Swiftblade: Yes!! Fine work! You're a quick study. I will now give
you this Tiger Scroll! If you ever forget this technique, you can review
it with this scroll! You may view it anytime from the Quest Status screen!

--------------------------------
You learned the secret Spin Attack fighting technique!

This is the first technique you've learned from Master Swiftblade!
--------------------------------

(Link returns to the soldier blocking the path to Mount Crenel)

Soldier: Ho ho! So, you've learned the Spin Attack? It's still
dangerous, but...maybe you can handle it. Well, let's see how you do.
Show me that Spin Attack!

(Link performs the Spin Attack)

Soldier: Yeah! That's the one! But there are monsters out there, kid!
You just make sure you're careful.

(Link reaches Mt. Crenel's Base and enters a nearby cave)

Business Scrub: OK, ya got me! I'll make it up to you by telling you
something good! A friend of mine in a cave in the south of Trilby Highlands
has a handy tool. If you want to climb Mount Crenel, I suggest you go
buy it from him.

(Link finds the cave the scrub was talking about)

Business Scrub: OK, ya got me! Let me make it up to ya! You can have
this most deluxe of all bottles for only 20 Rupees! So, what do you say,
huh?

(Link says "Sure")

--------------------------------
You got an empty bottle!

Use it to store all sorts of things.
--------------------------------

Business Scrub: Thanks a lot!

(Link returns to Mt. Crenel's Base)

--------------------------------
You put water in your bottle!

Sprinkle it on different things!
--------------------------------

(After Link uses the stone portal...)

Ezlo: So this perfectly normal-looking stone was another portal to the
Minish world! I suppose I would have remembered that if I'd stopped
to think about it...

--------------------------------
You put Crenel Hot Spring Water in your bottle! It's piping hot!
--------------------------------

(Link encounters some Helmasaurs...)

Ezlo: Once you've pulled off their iron masks, these guys are no
trouble whatsoever.

(Link soon reaches a vortex)

Ezlo: Hmn?! Hmmmmnnnn...
Ah, of course! How silly of me! Hey, my boy! Jump into that vortex
over there for me! I think I've got an idea!

(Link enters another cave on Mount Crenel...)

Business Scrub: OK, ya got me! Let me make it up to ya! This
fabulous Grip Ring is just perfect for a young mountaineer like yourself!
Climb in style for only 40 Rupees! What a bargain!
So, what do you say, huh?

(Link says "Sure")

--------------------------------
You got the Grip Ring!

Now, you can easily climb cliffs that you could not scale before.
--------------------------------

Business Scrub: Thanks a lot!

(It begins to rain at the top of the mountain and Link enters
a passageway in Minish size...)

Ezlo: These raindrops are like boulders of water to us, kid!
Watch out! If one of them hits us, it'll do more than a little damage!

(Link enters Melari's Mines)

Melari: Green clothes? And an odd hat?!? Sir! Might you be
young Link? I am Melari, master smith. I hear you want me to
reforge the sacred sword and help break a curse. I'll be needin'
the old sword, which holds the power of the elements, first.
Show me that broken Picori Blade! I love
all this adventure, what with the recuing of princesses and such.
I'd be happy to reforge this thing into a brand new sacred blade
for you.

(Link places the broken Picori Blade on the work table)

Melari: It'll take me a while to rework your sword. In the meantime,
you should track down the missing elements. One of them
should be in the mine the humans dug.
It's not far from here. All right! Let's get started!

Ezlo: They'll be a while, Link. Let's leave them to it and find that
element!

(Link goes to the Minish blocking the path to the mine)

Mountain Picori: What? You're going to the mine? If you've talked
to the boss, I won't stop you. But be careful.

(The Minish moves away and Link enters the Cave of Flames)

Ezlo: Wow... It's hot in here! Come on! Let's not stand around
wasting time! Find that element, so we can get out of here!

(After Link encounters two Spiked Beetles...)

Ezlo: Your sword won't make a dent in their thorny armor! Flip them over
before you strike!

(After Link comes across a mine cart...)

Ezlo: This must be what the humans who built this mine used to get around in
here. Maybe we should hop in? Hm? What? After all, you don't expect me to
belive you're scared! There's nothing to be afraid of here! Come, on, let's
go!

(After Link uses the mine cart...)

Ezlo: Sweet jumping jellyfish, that was awful! Hey, kid, what are you smiling
about? I knew it was madness to risk our lives in that rickety human
contraption! From now on, let's just stick to our feet! Well, I mean...your
feet.

(After Link defeats some Helmasaurs, a portal appears...)

Ezlo: How interesting! So there was a portal hidden away in here, hm? Whenever
you want me to shrink you down, just hop up here and press R!

(After Link walks over some platforms on the lava)

Ezlo: Oh my! It looks really, REALLY, hot in that lava! Trust me: Falling
into that would be a bad idea. I'm sure you agree.

(Link defeats a group of Spiny Chuchus)

--------------------------------
You got the Cane of Pacci!

This mystical rod has the power to flip things over.

Use it to charge up energy in holes and then flip on out of it!
--------------------------------

Ezlo: Hey, kid! Why don't you take that Cane of Pacci and fire it at that
hole? I mean, you never know what'll happen until you try, right?

(Link defeats Gleerok at the end of the mines)

--------------------------------
You got the Fire Element!

Flames bring light to darkness and warmth to all.

The Fire Element is the embodiment of that power.
--------------------------------

(Link exits the Cave of Flames)

Ezlo: Oh, that was hot! It was so hot, I thought my fibers would catch fire!
Ah, but it's over now! I suppose we should go back and speak to Melari.

(Link returns to Melari)

Melari: Wow! That was fast work! But not so fast that I didn't finish your
sword! Here, take a look! I call this blade the White Sword!

--------------------------------
You got the White Sword! Its beautiful white blade sparkles with light!
You can put away your grandfather's sword now.
--------------------------------

Melari: Once you infuse it with the power of the elements, it will become a
sacred blade! The forest elder no doubt told you this part but... If you want
to infuse the sword, you must go to the elemental sanctuary. The sanctuary is
a strange realm, trapped between two worlds. It is the bridge between the
Minish world and the human world. The doorway to the sanctuary only opens once
every hundred years! You'll find that door hidden within Hyrule Castle. Once
the blade has been filled with the power of the four elements, you should be
able to break the curse on your princess. I know you can do it. After all,
you made short work of that human mine. Let me tell you about a shortcut
that you can use to get down the mountain. You'll find it right in front of
the entrance of the mine you just explored. Just follow that, and you'll be
down in no time. Good luck!

(Link makes his way to Hyrule Castle. At the entrance...)

Ezlo: Are you sure I look all right? I never know what to wear to formal
occasions.

(Link finds a mysterious door...)

Ezlo: Link, look! See how that doorway glows? Could that be the door that
leads to the sanctuary? nobody in the castle seems to be able to see it but
you and me... Let's go! Quickly!

(Link enters...)

Ezlo: So this is the elemental sanctuary, then... This is where we can infuse
your blade with the power of the elements... Yes, there seems to be a pedestal
for your sword right in the middle there.

(Link drops the sword into the pedestal)

--------------------------------
The powers of the Earth and Fire Elements have infused your blade!
--------------------------------

(A stone tablet rises from the ground behind Link. He walks over to it.)

Ezlo: Hmm-hmm... Let's see if I can't read that tablet for you...
"Fill your sword with power and walk over the glowing tiles..."
Hm... Perhaps it refers to those flashing spots on the floor around you.
Well? What are you waiting for? Try it, Link!

(Link charges his sword and walks over the two nearby tiles)

Ezlo: Whoa! You just split in two! So this is the power of the White Sword!
I guess you can double yourself like that anytime you see those panels...

(Link exits Hyrule Castle into North Hyrule Field)

Voice: Interesting. You're the last person I expected to find here. And just
as I was wondering who could be behind this, I find my old master...

(Vaati magically appears before Link and Ezlo)

Ezlo: Vaati!

Vaati: And, as always, you are dressed in... heh heh heh...the shabbiest of
rags. My curses are not to be mocked. The one I cast on you is most powerful.
No matter what power you wield, you will never break it.

Ezlo: You haven't changed in the slightest. I should never have created that
cap. It only fuelled your insane desires!

Vaati: Fool! A hat that grants the wishes of its wearer is a spectacular
creation! Thanks to you, I have gone from being a meek, miniscule nothing
to... the greatest sorcerer alive! You cannot stop me now, and I have you to
thank for it! Accept this small gesture of gratitude from me.

(Vaati vanishes)

Ezlo: Wait! Vaati, wait!!!

(Link runs after Vaati but is trapped in a ring with two moblins. Link defeats
them both)

Ezlo: That foul Vaati! What could he be scheming now? Link... I feel I own
you an explanation of what has happened. You see, Vaati and I are both Minish.
I was once a famous sage and a renowned Minish craftsman. Vaati was only a
boy when I took him on as my apprentice. But...he became enchanted by the
wickedness in the hearts of men. One day, Vaati took a hat I made for the
humans -- my pride and joy. It granted the wishes of its wearer. He put it on
without my permission...

(We see a flashback of what happened...)

Ezlo: Vaati: What are you doing there?

(Vaati puts on the cap Ezlo made and he transforms into an evil form)

Ezlo: Oh! What a vile form you've taken!

Vaati: Vile? I am a sorcerer now, and my power is beyond compare! None can
stop me...

Ezlo: Why, Vaati? What are you plotting?

Vaati: This year, on the day that comes but once a century, the portal opens.
And when it does, I shall claim the light force as my own. I will be
transformed, perfect, and there will be none who can stop me...

(Vaati shoots a ball of energy at Ezlo)

Ezlo: GAAAAAA!!!

(Ezlo is transformed into a bird-like cap)

Vaati: Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Tell me, how does it feel, my sorcerer's
curse? There is nothing you can do to break it, Ezlo! Or to stop me! And with
that, I must be leaving.

(Vaati vanishes and the flashback ends. Ezlo is on the floor telling Link his
story now)

Ezlo: You know the legends, of course. The gifts the Picori gave the humans...
What you call the Picori Blade was the first of those gifts. The second...
Well, you call it light force, but it is a source of limitless magical power.
If Vaati were to get it now, it would be devastating. I came to the world of
men hoping to stop Vaati, and I met you in the woods. But it seems we won't be
breaking the curse on me anytime soon. However, with the sacred blade, we can
certainly restore Princess Zelda. I'm sorry. All that has happened has been
due to my own pride and joy. My folly. I must rely on you, on your power,
until we've put an end to Vaati.

(Ezlo jumps back onto Link's head)

Ezlo: Well, Link, enough fairy tales! We must search for the next element!

(After you reach Western Woods)

Ezlo: Eh? What a strange feeling. I sensed something from the castle's
direction. Or...was it just me?

(The screen fades and goes on the King of Hyrule by himself. Vaati appears.)

King: Hm? Who's there?!? What? Vaati! How did you get in here!?

(Vaati disappears and reappears next to the king.)

King: Uhn... What are you doing?!?

Vaati: Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

(The screen fades and appears at Hyrule Castle with the king, the princess'
stoned body, and the Minister. Then, some guards come up to the king.)

Minister: It looks like you're all here. Very well. The king of Hyrule has
words for you.

King: You all know of the power the Picori gave to mankind, do you not? The
golden light force of limitless magical power... I want it!!! It is somewhere
here in Hyrule! Go now, and bring me this power!

(Everyone appears questioned.)

King: Waste no time! Go forth at once, and bring me the light force! Fling
anyone who refuses into the dungeon. Him and his family, too! I will tolerate
no disobedience! Now, search high and low throughout the lands of Hyrule!

(The screen fades back on Link.)

Ezlo: Hmm... Maybe it's just the wind... But I hope nothing bad has happened.
Anyway, we need to look for the next element. The map says it should be around
here somewhere...

(Once you enter Castor Wilds)

Ezlo: So, this must be Castor Wilds... It's a nasty, dank place, filled with
swampland and mire... But we know there's an element waiting for us somewhere
in here, so... In we go! Come on, Link! Into the muck with us!

(If Link walks in the muck without the Pegasus Boots)

Ezlo: Hey! Link! Watch your feet! You're sinking! You're sinking! If you sink
all the way in, I'm going to get muddy! I don't think we can just walk across
this swamp. We're going to have to find some way to get across safely. But we
can discuss it later! Get me out of here! NOW!

(Once you enter the Shoe Maker's Shop, he will fall asleep and the shoes will
knock down. You talk to the Minish on the table...)

Minish 1: Hey, hey! You're Link, right? You're the one who brought the sword
to Master Melari! You're on a quest to help the princess, aren't you? I wish
I could go on a quest, but then who'd make Rem's shoes for him?

Minish 2: Ho, ho! You need Pegasus Boots? Why, you're in time! We made a pair
just while Red was sleeping. But only Rem can put the finishing touches
on them...

Minish 3: Ha, ha! That sleepyhead Rem is nearly impossible to wake up... If
you want to wake him, you'll need to get an item from Syrup's hut. It's a
little bit of a trek, but we'll mark it on your map for you.

(After getting the key from the house in Lon Lon Ranch and showing it to
Talon.)

Talon: Oh! Our one and only spare key! I don't know how you got this, but I
can't thank you enough! Tell me your name, kid. Link? Thatís a great name. If
you ever need to go to Lake Hylia, your free to cut through our house.

(Talon enters the house.)

Malon: Thank you very much, Link. Come visit us again!

Granny: (After you pick up wake-up-mushroom) Ah, yes! A fine choice, my dear!
That's a limited-time article! One whiff, and you're wide-awake! That is why
it's called a wake-up-mushroom! Would you like to buy it for 60 rupees?

(After you buy it.)

--------------------------------
You got a wake-up-mushroom!

Its nasty stench chases away the sleepies!
--------------------------------

(After you go back to the Shoe Maker's Shop and wake him up.)

Rem: Whaa--! What is that terrifyingly bad smell!? A wake-up mushroom?! I
should have guessed! So you woke me up? Thanks, I just remembered I have
something urgent to do!

(After a few seconds...)

Rem: ?! Huh? What now?! There are more new shoes! You probably won't believe
this, but... I have a strange habit of making shoes in my sleep! So you must
have come here because you want some of my shoes, right? Tell you what:
because you were nice enough to wake me, you can have 'em! Hold on a sec,
though. I just want to finish one last bit...

(Rem cleans the shoes and, what it looks like, uses a hammer to do
something.)

Rem: And there we go... Here, take these. Those are my special Pegasus Boots!
They're so light, you'll feel like you're practically walking on air!

--------------------------------
You got the Pegasus Boots!

Hold down the button to run faster than the wind!
--------------------------------

Rem: Ooh, I need to hurry up and get working on that special order... The king
asked me to make some shoes for Princess Zelda, you see. Thanks for waking
me up. Come back if I can ever help you with shoe problems.

(Once you reach the cave in Castor Wilds and enter the room where a Darknut
is.)

Ezlo: Hmph! So, a guardian is protecting the treasure? Take care while
fighting it.

(Once you open the treasure chest.)

--------------------------------
You got a Kinstone piece!

These mystic stones are said to bring happiness.
--------------------------------

(After going west and shrinking into the hole.)

--------------------------------
You got a bow!

Now you can take out enemies from afar!
--------------------------------

(Once you walk up to a one-eyed statue)

Ezlo: Now, that is one nasty-looking statue! That one eye has suck an evil
glower.

(In Fortress of Winds when you enter the left door.)

Ezlo: Hm. To think the ruins were hidden within a cliff the whole time!
Watch your step, Link. There may be traps in here.

(After you pull the level to make the Small Key drop.)

Ezlo: Hmm?! Did something just fall down, or way it just my imagination?

(Once you open chest for Mole Mitts.)

--------------------------------
You got the Mole Mitts!

Dig, dig, dig to your heart's content!
--------------------------------

(Once you pull the level and roll across the bridge before it breaks.)

Ezlo: Phew...! We barely made it! I was certain we'd run out of time!

(Once you kill Mazaal and go up to the stone.)

Stone: We are the Trible of the Winds. Long have we lived with the winds. We
have mastered them. Now, we join them. Together, with the great winds at our
backs, we hard for the skies. Those who come seeking out power must play the
notes Zeffa teaches. May they lead onward to the power that you seek.

(A bird flies by and drops a flute.)

--------------------------------
You got the Ocarina of Wind!

North, south, east, and west are all just a breath away!
--------------------------------

Ezlo: I do belive this is where the Tribe of Winds once lived. Hm... So
they've left for the heavens and taken their element with them. It looks like
the Wind Element is beyond our reach for the time being. We have no choice but
to press on. Let's get out of here.

(Link is teleported to the outside of the Fortress of Winds.)

Ezlo: The element was not here, but at least we now have a clue to its
whereabouts. You must use the Ocarina of Wind to open a new path. Well,
there's no point in standing around! Go get that element!

(After warping to Lake Hylia.)

Ezlo: Aha!! So that mysterious make we've been seeing is a Wind Crest. If you
play the Ocarina of Wind, Zeffa comes to pick you up and fly you away. That
means we can have Zeffa carry us to any other Wind Crest we've seen. Are you
following me, Link? Don't hurt your brain thinking about it. Just give it a
try, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

(When you enter the Minish's house.)

Minish: Oh, ho! A visitor! How rare! But you have found me, the wisest of the
wisest of the wise! You what? You want to enter the Temple of Droplets? I have
heard rumors that one Minish actually did find a way in, long ago... That
Minish is Elder Librari, and he is in semi-retirement in the town library. The
library should be opening soon. Perhaps you can go find him.

(Once you shrink into the bookcase.)

Minish: Hey, hey, hey! This is no good! No good at all! A human borrowed a
book, and now none of us can get back to Elder Labrari! How will he get along?
I'm so worried... I'm sure the librarian knows something about where those
books went... But there's nothing we wee Minish can do about it!

(Once you talk to the librarian.)

Librarian: Welcome to the library! Say, aren't you the Smith's grandson, Link?
Hm? The books missing from the bookshelf on the second floor? Yes, they've
been checked out for quite a while. They're VERY overdue! Take A Hyrulean
Bestiary, for example. Been gone for ages. Checked out by a girl with a cat.
She said she had a new cat at her house. Wanted to learn more about it, she
did.

(When you enter the girls house you find a note.)

Note: Dear Mom, I'll be next door if you need me.

(You enter the house on the left.)

Girl: Huh? A book from the library? A Hyrulean Bestiary, is that the one?
Yeah, I checked it out a while ago. You came all this way to get it? Wow!
You're one dedicated librarian! But... I don't know how to tell you this, but
it's back at my house. Would you mind going there to get it? I just can't
leave right now, see...

(Once you shrink and get into the right house via the chimneys.)

Ezlo: Whoa! Did you see that cat looking at me?! I know it wants a piece of
me!

(Once you get near the ladder.)

Ezlo: Waaah! That really startled me! Everything's scary when you're small!

(Once you push the book down and get it.)

--------------------------------
You got a library book called A Hyrulean Bestiary!
--------------------------------

(Once you enter the library and talk to the librarian.)

Librarian: Hey! Look at that! Out long-lost copy of A Hyrulean Bestiary! Link,
are you returning this book?! Thank you so much! I can't describe how much
I'm looking forward to putting this back!

(Once you talk to her again.)

Librarian: The next overdue book is... Let's see... Ah, yes! Of course...
Legend of the Picori! It's been out forever! It was checked out by a somewhat
absentminded scholar, I believe...

(When you try to enter Dr. Left's house.)

Dr. Left: What, huh? A book? From the library? Ah, yes...of course. I knew this
day would come. Please, come in.

(Once you talk to him.)

Dr. Left: I am a researcher of Picori legend and lore. My name is Dr. Left.
You're here about that book, Legend of the Picori, aren't you? Well, I hate
to say this, but I haven't seen it in several days. Perhaps a mischievous
little mouse has taken it? Well, I'm sure it's in this house somewhere. I
just don't know where. But, I'm very busy right now, so why don't you just
look for it yourself?

(After you turn Minish and enter the Minish's cave.)

Minish: Hey, do you know the clues that reveal the location of the treasure?
Cross the bridge that spans the rapid flow... Through the land of the
fearsome beast... Until you reach the misty falls... The treasure sleeps on
the other side of the secret entrance there... They say it's a magical tool
that allows even little people to push big things! According to the legend,
you're suppose to start from this house!

(Once you turn Minish, run through all the houses, and make it in the water
fountain.)

Ezlo: Who knew that there was a place like this behind the town water pump?!
Well, maybe we should get moving and find that Minish treasure!

(Once you find the Power Bracelets.)

--------------------------------
You got the Power Bracelets!

You're filled with strength, even while tiny!
--------------------------------

(Once you get above Dr. Left's house.)

Minish: Ho! Ha! Hey!! Phew... I want to return this book by dropping it down
below. It's impossible without some help pushing... But my brother is so busy
with a book of his own that he won't help me out! Maybe I can do it with one
more push!

(After you knock it down and get it.)

--------------------------------
You got a library book called Legend of the Picori!
--------------------------------

(Once you return the book back to the librarian.)

Librarian: Oh my goodness, will you look at that! It's our copy of Legend of
the Picori! It's been checked out for so long! Link, you deserve a medal for
all of this! I am moved... Deeply, deeply moved by this thoughtful gesture!

(Once you talk to her again.)

Librarian: And the last book we still need is A History of Masks. I think it
was checked out by Hagen, the mayor. How could he keep a library book so long!
He's a public official!

(Once you enter Mayor Hagenís home and talk to him.)

Hagen: Aherrm! Yes, That's me, Hagen. I am mayor of this town. What's that?
You want a book? A History of Masks? And you say I checked it out, do you?
Yes, indeed I did... Or wait, Did I?

(Once you knock the masks off the shelf and talk to the well-hidden Minish.)

Minish: The mayor took off for his cabin by the lake clutching a book. We saw
him go... But when he came back, he didn't have the book anymore. I'm sure he
just forgot it at the lake cabin. Yes, he is forgetful like that. You want
to go to the cabin by the lake? Well, let me just mark it here on your map.
Err... Yes! There. It's right here. You should be able to find it now.

(Once you knock the book off the mayors bookshelf.)

--------------------------------
You got a library book called A History of Masks!
--------------------------------

(Once you return back to the librarian....again.)

Librarian: Would you look at that! I can't believe it! It's our copy of A
History of Masks! The mayor of ours is a real piece of work, isn't he? I must
have been quite a challenge to get this back from him. You are my new favorite
person, Link! Thank you so much! You know, Link, you've now returned all of
our overdue books! Now I can finally get that bookshelf on the second floor in
order! Hey, Sturgeon! Books to shelve!!

Sturgeon: Yo, yo! Here I am! Leave it to me!!

(Sturgeon takes all of the books and descends the stairs below.)

Librarian: The bookshelves are back in order! I feel so...refreshed! Renewed!
Enjoy your browsing!

(Once you enter Labrari's house, er, book.)

Labrari: Wohohoho! Oh? A visitor after many long weeks! Even Jotari has been
away so long, I've grown almost...lonely. ...But what is it? What do you need?
Hm? You want to visit the Temple of Droplets? Very well... You are the first
such brave person is a long while! Stand on the clover in front of me!

(Link stands on it.)

Labrari: All right, all right. You kids today... You have no patience for an
old man. Well, go stand over there, just like I told you! Wohoho! Now... OPEN,
secret mystery panel!!

(Link falls through the ground.)

Labrari: Wohoho! Wasn't that fantastic? Now then... It's up to you to pass
this trial safely and recover the tool you need. Oh, what fun! I do so love
the real nitty-gritty of adventuring!

(It fades in on Link, who has fallen in a box of blocks.)

Ezlo: Urk... Owowow!! I just smacked my hip on something! Well, not my hip...
My...whatever it is I have now... My Brim? Whatever! That old fool must just
love sending people on dangerous missions! And how did that Labrari get into
the Temple of Droplets, anyway? I guess the answer lies up ahead. Keep moving,
boy!

(After you go further into the dungeon and get the Flippers.)

--------------------------------
You got the Flippers!

Press A to glide through the water and B to dive!
--------------------------------

(After Link reaches the Royal Valley)

Ezlo: Hehehe! So, what do you think, Link? Pretty dark and spooky, isn't it?
Makes you wanna cry, doesn't it? What? You're...not scared? Well, good!
Neither am I! So, um... Come on, let's go...

(Link reaches a lone house in the northern part of the valley and enters)

Dampe: My name's Dampe. I'm the gravedigger here. What's that? You were called
here by the ghost of a king? That'd be the ancient king of Hyrule who rests
here. I've seen him myself. Well, if the king has called you, I can't see any
reason not to let you in... Here, take this graveyard key.

--------------------------------
You got the graveyard key!

Now, you can open the graveyard gate!
--------------------------------

(Link steps outside and a crow steals the key)

Ezlo: What's with that crow? He up and flew off with the graveyard key! Charge
after him and get that key!

--------------------------------
You got the graveyard key back!

Now, you can open the graveyard gate!
--------------------------------

Ezlo: So, you managed to get the key back? Keep a tighter grip on it this
time! At least now, you can get into the graveyard...

Dampe: I'll open the gate for you. Be careful in there.

(Link enters the Royal Crypt)

Ezlo: It may be the Royal Crypt, but graves are creepy, no matter whose they
are! Where are we supposed to go to meet this King Gustaf anyway? I'm not so
sure I even want to anymore! Can we just go somewhere less creepy?

(Link reaches the end of the crypt and the ghost of King Gustaf appears)

Gustaf: ... ... O young one... Child who seeks to rescue my descendant,
Zelda... Welcome... My name is Gustaf. I was king of Hyrule countless ages
ago... I grant to you this Kinstone... Seek the source of the flow in
Hyrule... Only then will your path open... Save Zelda... All of Hyrule is
counting on you...

--------------------------------
You got a Kinstone piece!

These mystic stones are said to bring happiness.
--------------------------------

Ezlo: Hmm... Fascinating! An ancient king of Hyrule? How strange... And the
source of the flow? What do you suppose that could mean?

(Link reaches Veil Falls; the source of the river that runs through Hyrule)

Ezlo: Wow! Look at the size of that waterfall! Beautiful! Simply beautiful,
my boy!

(Link places the Kinstone Gustaf gave him in a huge door next to the
waterfall)

Ezlo: A stone door! So! This was what they meant by all of that "source of the
flow" business! Well, this waterfall certainly is the source of all Hyrule's
water. According to King Gustaf, the final element lies somewhere behind the
falls. We've dawdled long enough, Link! Let's go find that element!

(Link reaches the top of the mountain)

Ezlo: What have we here? Some kind of vortex? Well, we seem to have hit a dead
end... What shall we do from here?

(Link jumps in the vortex)

Ezlo: ... ... Am I still alive? ... ... ... ... Link!! What were you thinking,
child! You just reaped the whirlwind, as they say! We could be dead right now!
... ... ... ... ...But I must admit, it did the trick! Are we...in the land
above the clouds? Then there must be something here that can lead us to the
final element! Let's go find it!

(Link speaks with the girl next to him)

Hailey: Wahh! You surprised me! Normally, surface dwellers can't walk on the
clouds like we do! My sister and I went to the Picori Festival in Hyrule Town,
and when we came back, there were monsters everywhere! I bet if I could just
fuse a Kinstone, I could call a good homeward wind... But there are monsters
about, so I can't search for Kinstones. And even if I could, I still can't
find anyone to fuse them with! But you look pretty strong! Do you think you
could maybe search for Kinstones for me? If you do, I'll tell you about a good
spot for fusing!

(Link meets another girl)

Gale: Oh, this is bad. This is really bad... Oh, hey! Wow... Look at that!
I've never seen a surface dweller walk on clouds before! You must be quite
pure of heart! Maybe one such as you would listen to my tale of woe. You see,
I went down to the surface with my sister for the Picori Festival... But on
our way home, we lost the wind entirely! Now, we can't get home!

(On the Cloud Tops, Link finds 5 gold Kinstones and fuses them with Mysterious
Clouds. A vortex appears and Hailey and Gale jump in side. Link follows. A
huge building stands in front of him.)

Ezlo: Now how do you build something like this on top of a cloud? Maybe
someone lives inside. If so, perhaps we could ask for the element? It's worth
a shot, Link!

(Link goes inside)

Gale: Oh, it's you! I thought I'd never make it back here, but thanks to your
Kinstone, I did! If you're looking for something, go talk to the elderly
woman on the 4th floor. The winds carry all sort of valuable information to
her.

(Link reaches the 4th floor)

Siroc: Welcome, welcome. Long, long ago, and then an age before that... Our
tribe abandoned the place you call the Wind Ruins... With our magic, we moved
our palace up into the skies. We are the Wind Tribe. We have been watching,
and we know all that happens on your surface world. We know a small boy
collects elements to lift the curse from a princess. We know of Vaati and his
evil acts... The winds tell us these things. The Wind Element that you seek
lies deep in the Palace of the Winds above me. "When the blade has been
infused with the four elements, the way to the light force shall open." So it
is told in the legends of the Wind Tribe. Vaati himself may already know this.
Surface dwellers are not permitted to enter our palace, but you are special.
You may continue to the roof.

Hailey: There is a device in the palace that allows one to fly in the sky.
When I get bigger, I want to explore the palace and find it... But I'm too
scared right now!

(Hailey moves away from the stairs which lead to the palace. Link goes up and
jumps in a vortex that takes him to the Palace of Winds.)

Ezlo: What an irritation! We find our way to the tops of the clouds... And now
we have to go even higher to find a floating palace? I can't believe what a
long way we've come. And look how high we are! Don't look down, Link! And
watch your step! It's a long fall from here!

(Link comes across a floating cloud.)

Ezlo: There's a fluffy cloud floating here. It looks awfully comfortable.

(After defeating some Wizzrobes)

--------------------------------
You got the Roc's Cape!

Jump with the greatest of ease! Hold the button to jump farther.
--------------------------------

Ezlo: There's a strong gale blowing here! Try not to get swept away! And hold
on to your hat!

Ezlo: That panel... I think if we stomped on it hard enough, it might flip
over...

(After opening the Big Door)

Ezlo: Oooooog, I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I'm no good with
heights. Wait, hold on... I think I see something down there! Sigh... I guess
that means we have to go down after all, hm?

Ezlo: How much farther do we have to go!? This place goes on forever! Ah,
there's no point in complaining about it. We must press onward! We're almost
there, Link! Let's go!

(After Link defeats the boss)

--------------------------------
You got the Wind Element!

The wind carries the seeds of flowers, scattering life across the land.

The Wind Element is the embodiment of that power.
--------------------------------

Ezlo: At last, we've got all four elements! Let's go revive the sacred
blade!

(Inside temple)

--------------------------------
The power of the Wind Element has infused your blade!

With the power of the four elements, your blade has become the Four Sword.

Focus power in your blade and release to fire a beam.

Use it to break Vaati's curse and restore the people of Hyrule.
--------------------------------

(Link does a spin attack, and the stone tablet drops)

Ezlo: Hmm-hmm... It seems that forging the sacred blade somehow opened the
doorway! It must lead to the room that holds the secret to the light force!
Link, we must go inside!

(When Link approaches the stained glass windows)

Ezlo: Hmmm... I'd bet this stained glass shows the location of the light
force...

--------------------------------
A long, long time ago...

when the world was on the verge of being swallowed by shadow...

The tiny Picori appeared from the sky, brining the hero of men a sword and a
golden light.

With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness.

When peace had been restored, the people enshrined that blade with care.

And the force of the golden light, embodied in Hyrule's princess, shone forth
upon the lands.
--------------------------------

Ezlo: Heh heh heh... So that's what it means...

(King appears)

Vaati: Ah ha ha haaaa... Ezlo, you really are to kind. First, give me my cap,
and then you guide me here! You've been far too generous, but now, I no longer
have any use for you.

(King turns into Vaati. He shoots blue orb at Link. Link falls down)

Vaati: He ha ha ha ha... At last, I've found the location of the light force!

(Vaati disappears. Then, the screen fades black.)

Ezlo: Link! Wake up! Can't you wake up, Link?

(Scene recovers in same room)

Ezlo: Vaati disguised himself as the king to search for the light force. When
he learned of this place, he waited for us to reforge the blade. If that
stained glass is accurate, Princess Zelda holds the light force! Vaati will do
whatever it takes to steal the power from her! If he succeeds, we may never be
able to return the princess to normal! We've wasted too much time, Link! We
must stop Vaati!

(When you exit out of temple)

Ezlo: What? ...What is this? What's happened here!? They've been turned to
stone! All of them! The minister...And the guards! Just like Princess Zelda!
This can only be the work of that evil Vaati! What cruelty, Link! We must use
the power of the sacred Four Sword to undo this!

(Once you free the guard)

Guard: Oh! Oh, thank you! You're the one who returned me to normal, aren't
you? I don't know how you did it, but I can't thank you enough. Listen...Have
you noticed how strange the king has been lately? That's because that's not
the king at all! It's Vaati ! He's taken over the castle! One by one, he
turned us all to stone. Everyone, cursed by his evil magic... Then, the
monsters arrived. Even paralyzed, I saw it all... I only pray it's not too
late to undo his evil...

(Once you free the Minister)

Minister: Link! We need your help! Vaati took out petrified princess to the
roof of the castle... He must be planning something fiendish. You must stop
him!

(Once you enter the castle's base)

Ezlo: Whoa...! Is this really Hyrule Castle? I can't believe it! What's
happened here? Vaati's magic has grown more powerful then I'd imagined... But
the king and Zelda are in danger, Link! Let's go!

(Once you find the king and free him)

King: Oh, Link! Are you the one who broke the curse and returned me to normal?
You've grown quite brave since I last saw you, I must say. But, oh, how this
castle has suffered while I was under Vaati's curse... Is this all the work of
one man? As King of Hyrule, I must do something about this villain... But...
Ah, I'm old and I would only hold you back. Link, you have the sacred blade
now. We must rely on you. Please! You must find a way to rescue my Zelda. Take
this key. You can use it to get out of the castle from the basement.

--------------------------------
You got a small key!

Use it to open locked doors and blocks. You can use it only in this dungeon.
--------------------------------

(Later in the dungeon)

Ezlo: Perhaps your sword could reflect the blasts coming from those statues.

(When you enter bosses lair)

Vaati: Ha ha ha! You ARE persistent aren't you? Heh heh heh heh heh heh...
So, you've come to stop my little ceremony. Well, you're too late. A mere
three more chimes to the bell will bring the ceremony to its end! And with the
third toll of the bell, I will become like a god! And your precious Princess
Zelda will be nothing more than cold, dead stone.

Ezlo: There's no time! Quickly, Link, to the roof.

(Upon entering next room)

Ezlo: Did you hear that, Link? Hurry! There are only two chimes left!

(Upon entering next room)

Ezlo: Another bell has tolled... Just one more chime, and all out work will
have been for naught!

(Upon entering last room)

Vaati: Hmph! Just a few more moments, and the ceremony would have been
complete. You really are obsessed with stopping me, aren't you? Ah, very well.
I have not yet drained all of the light force housed in Princess Zelda. But
what I have should suffice... I shall be transformed! Unstoppable! But let me
first attend to the pesky worms who would trifle with me... Hmph!

(Link teleports into room below. Vaati appears)

Vaati: I will have no more of you interfering with my plans! Let me show you
true power!!

(Vaati transforms into an eye-like creature. After defeated, Link is
transported somewhere else.)

Vaati: Well, you seem to have some fight in you. I commend your bravery. But
you will not survive...THIS!!

(Vaati appears)

Vaati: Grrrrr..... I am filled with a power that you cannot begin to
understand! Do you think that puny sword will save you from ME?!

(Transforms into a bigger eye. Once he is defeated.)

Vaati: What... What is this madness? I have the power of a god! I have
unstoppable might!!! How could I lose to a child?!?

(Vaati vanishes. Link teleports somewhere.)

Ezlo: You did it! Impressive! Now, quickly! We must break the curse on Zelda!

(Link enters next room.)

Ezlo: So, Link! Now that you have the power of the Four Sword... You must
return Princess Zelda back to normal!

(Link frees Princess Zelda from stone)

Zelda: Link, thank you so much for saving me. When I was turned to stone, I
saw visions of you, as if in a dream. It looks like the curse has been broken.
I'm glad we made it in time.

(Building starts to shake)

Ezlo: No! The castle's collapsing! It's too dangerous here. Quickly! We must
escape from the castle!

(Screen fades and recovers as Link and Zelda are escaping)

Ezlo: Hrmm... The door is blocked! We have no choice... Head back to the
sanctuary!

(Before Link enters the sanctuary, a bolt strikes in front of him)

Vaati: Heh heh heh heh... You will not escape, boy! Now, you will see the true
power of the Light Force... For I have become Vaati, the master of this world!

(Link, by himself, teleports somewhere just as Vaati falls from the sky. Then,
Vaati transforms into a two-handed eye. Once he is defeated yet AGAIN...)

Vaati: Fool! I... But the Light Force... My power... I had such power...

(Vaati explodes. His hat falls down. Link is transported back to entrance
of sanctuary.)

Zelda: Link, thank goodness you're safe... You defeated Vaati... You were so
brave! But we've lost so much... The castle... All those people...

(Ezlo starts flashing, and flies off Link's head. Then, he falls onto the
floor and transforms into his normal self.)

Ezlo: What's this? The curse... Defeating Vaati seems to have broken the curse
he cast upon me! Allow me to introduce myself to you, Princess Zelda. My name
is Ezlo, master of Minish lore and sorcery. The mage's cap was my creation.
But its limitless power has caused nothing but trouble for your kind. Is there
any way you can forgive me? I know many have fallen, and much of the castle
has been destroyed... But it is too soon to give in to despair. The curse on
me is broken, and Zelda still possesses some of the light force. Perhaps,
together, we can do something to make things right.

(Vaati's hat floats above Princess Zelda, and then onto her head.)

Ezlo: If one with a just heart wears this cap, things can be made right again.
Princess Zelda! Let your wishes be made real!

(Ezlo gives Princess Zelda powers. Then, Hyrule Castle begins to go back to
normal. Also, all people in stone turn back to normal. Finally, all of the
monsters disappear. Then, the screen focuses back on Link and the others.)

Ezlo: Look! The castle! All the people who had been turned to stone! They're
all back to normal! Hmm-hmm! The hat is falling apart. It's overflowing with
the power of life! The hat has the power to turn the thoughts of its wearer
into reality. Vaati's heart was filled with evil, and that was reflected in
what he became. But it seems that Zelda's pure heart, coupled with the hat's
power... ...has created a miracle!

(Screen shakes)

Ezlo: Hmm... It looks like the time for us to part has come. The Minish Door
opens but once every century, and soon, it must close. I must leave you both
now and return to my homeland. I know I've caused you much suffering, but the
evil one's power has wittered. The power of Princess Zelda herself has
restored the light to Hyrule.

(Link walks up to Ezlo)

Ezlo: Well, Link, my journey with you has been exciting, to say the least. In
fact, I'm...more than just a little sad that we must part ways now. Please,
accept this...

(Hat goes on Link)

Ezlo: Heh... You know, I've never actually seen you wearing a cap until now!
It suits you, little hero. Take care...

(Ezlo leaves)

Ezlo: Farewell, my friend...

(Seal to sanctuary closes. Screen fades, and credits roll.)

(A group of text appears after the credits...)

"Thus did Link's quest come to an end. But surely this is not the end of
Zelda and Link's adventures in Hyrule. The legend will continue as long
as the power of the light force echoes throughout the ages."

                            Extra Quotes [xtrqu]
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

I decided to add this section after "jhurvid" emailed me asking if I would
put in an important quote spoken by one of the Minish in the shoe house at
the front of Minish Woods as it makes it clear that the Minish world is
a completely different world, and not just Hyrule from a tiny perspective.

"Our ancestors, the ancient Minish, used the portal between our worlds. It
brought them into the human world, and they settled in this forest."
