_______________________________________________________________________________

I. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (F.A.Q.)
_______________________________________________________________________________

Before rushing to the message boards and pestering everyone with too oft' asked
questions please look through the following section. Chances are the answer
to your query lies below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What are Trigger Points?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trigger Points (otherwise and hereon referred to as TPs) are Riviera's way of
prompting you to explore your surroundings.  You gain TPs by defeating enemies;
depending upon your rank you will receive 1-4 TPs at the end of each battle.
TPs are accessed while in "Look Mode" and are used to view certain "Triggers".
The use of TPs may lead to the discovery of new items, bonuses, character
interactions, or new areas altogether.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. What are Over Skills?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two types of Skills, or attacks, in Riviera: Normal Skills, and Over
Skills. Normal Skills are just that, everyday attacks that don't cost anything
special to use. Over Skills on the other hand are more powerful than Normal
Skills, cannot be used at all times, and make use of the Over Drive (otherwise
and hereon referred to as OD) meter. There are four levels of Over Skills:
Levels 1, 2, 3, and Execution level. Correspondingly, the OD meter is split
into three portions. As you hit your enemies, and are similarly hit, your OD
meter will fill. Once it reaches a certain point (either levels 1, 2, or 3)
you will be able to activate the appropriate Over Skills.

The exceptions to this rule are Execution level Over Skills, which can be used
at any time but in turn shatter the OD meter, preventing the use of any other
Over Skills for the remainder of that battle. Understandably, these Execution
level Skills are more powerful depending upon how full the OD meter is.

This same OD meter is shared by all team members, mind, so using an Over Skill
with one character will hinder the others' ability to do the same.

Sadly, you cannot use Over Skills from the get go, but must learn them by first
using Normal Skills with the corresponding item. After using said item a set
number of times you will master that item and in turn learn an Over Skill for
it. Be aware that not everyone can learn Over Skills with every item, so make
certain you aren't wasting your time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. How do you level up?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unlike other RPGs, Riviera uses a unique, item based leveling system. As you
may or may not be aware, characters can learn Over Skills with various items
(see above). Each time you learn an Over Skill, that character's statistics
(Hit Points, Strength, Magic, Agility, and Vitality) will increase depending
upon the particular item. The longer you retain the item before leveling up,
the more your stats will increase.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. What is "Practice"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In lieu of random battles (for which I and many others are so very grateful)
Practice Battles were implemented. The Practice option gives you the ability
to test your skills against a variety of previously faced foes, either for the
purposes of leveling up or obtaining items. Interestingly, certain things are
not affected in Practice; this includes item endurance, items obtained, TP
amounts, character affection, party requirements, and your current Score.

All items obtained in Practice mode are considered "A Rank" by default, so don't
expect to receive any "S Rank" items. Unfortunately, the Practice option is
not available from the start, and can be accessed as early as 2-3.

NOTE: There are certain exceptions to the rule that item endurance does not
decrease during Practice Battles. This includes the Slime/Acid Jelly's ability
to decrease item endurance in the form of an attack, and Fia's Banishment Skill.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. What's up with the inventory?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riviera has a set limit on the number of items your group can carry at any
given time. Due to the valuable and fragile nature of these items, coupled
with the fact that they are not for sale in any known location, careful
inventory management is critical to your success. You can only carry 15 items
with you at once. While this may seem like a reasonable number, you will soon
find your inventory cluttered with many interesting, if altogether useless,
trinkets. Of course, this forces the player to pick and choose which items
he/she wishes to carry. For more information concerning this subject, see the
"Tips and Hints" section.

NOTE: Not every item falls into this category. Certain items (often obtained
through Look Mode) are considered Event Items and will be stored separately
from those in your inventory. These are not used in battle, but are instead
used to obtain other items or benefits.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Why do my items break?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In an unusual twist disturbingly similar to the system incorporated by the Fire
Emblem series Riviera's many items will "shatter" once their endurance reaches
00. This is inevitable and forces the player to look ahead as he/she
consistently cycles through various items and weapons.

NOTE: There are two notable exceptions to the item endurance rule, those being
the Diviners Einherjar and Lorelei. These two weapons are distinguished by the
eternity symbol in place of the usual endurance number, they will never break.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Are trap effects permanent?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the course of the game you will often be prompted to input various button
sequences, usually during the opening of Treasure Chests. If you fail in this
regard, your maximum hit points (otherwise and hereon referred to as MAX HP)
will decrease by a certain percentage. This reduction in health is far from
permanent. You regain 1% of your MAX HP each turn. So should a character
take 5% damage to their MAX HP it will be fully restored five turns later.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. What happens when I die?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When a character falls in battle, you suffer several repercussions. The first
of these is a reduction in your fallen comrades' mood, they won't be very happy
that they were defeated in combat. Secondly, any experience gained by those
characters is lost, though the item endurance is not restored. Additionally,
your chance of receiving and "S Rank" for that battle is severely lessened.

NOTE: Should your entire party die the above holds true with a few additions.
Depending on how many times you lose the battle, your enemies' HP will decrease
and your OD meter will fill.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. What determines the ending?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riviera has six distinct endings. These endings are determined by character
affection levels. The main character, Ein, travels in the company of several
females (Lina, Fia, Serene, Cierra, and Rose). Over the course of the game you
will be confronted with choices that cause these characters to either like or
dislike Ein. The ending to Riviera is determined by how each of these
characters view Ein at the end of the game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. What determines character affection?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A character's affection for Ein (those being Lina, Fia, Serene, Cierra, and
Rose) is determined by several things. These include but are probably not
limited to:

1. Death in battle.
2. Delivering the final attack in battle.
3. Various character interactions.

You should note that none of these factors necessarily outweigh the others.
For example, while the bulk of affection-raising comes from character
interactions, don't assume that you can avoid using a character in battle and
still expect their affection to be higher than Ein's other companions.
Similarly, it's a no-brainer that someone who is continuously defeated in
combat will not be very happy. While character interactions are numerous and
important, you also need to actively use that character in battle, and use them
well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. What are the bonuses?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To increase the replay value of the game, Riviera sports a fair amount of extra
content. The full list is shown below. For details on how to acquire these
bonuses you should check the corresponding section in the Walkthrough Proper
(X-9).

1. CG Collection
2. Item Manual
3. Voice Collection
4. Sound Test
5. Face Collection
6. Bonus Chapter
7. High Score

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Is there any way to completely wipe save data?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No.

II. TIPS AND HINTS
_______________________________________________________________________________

For those who don't necessarily want a full walkthrough but are still in search
of helpful information, consider the following section. It doesn't pertain to
any specific part of the game, but is still useful advice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Movement
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a game that takes linearity to a new level, you'd be surprised at how
important navigation can be.

-------------
Look Mode
-------------

Look Mode is what allows the player to interact with the environment to a
certain degree, often leading to just rewards. Considering the large number of
Triggers, you can never be certain which options lead to something useful.
Similarly, many options require multiple views before yielding any results.
Check everything, all the time.

-------------
Backtracking
-------------

In a generation that absolutely despises retracing their steps, it needs to be
stressed how useful backtracking really is. The interesting thing about
Riviera is that you don't really have the option of backtracking to begin with.
Once you choose to advance to the next area (e.g. moving from 1-1 to 1-2) you
can't turn back, forfeiting any undiscovered treasures, such as items or
secret areas. To that end, I recommend returning to previous areas to make
certain you don't miss anything, old or new.

-------------
Branching Paths
-------------

One of the nice things about Riviera is that you have options. You don't have
to purify that desecrated corpse on the ground, although it might be nice to do
so. You don't have to humor the whims of your companions, although that is
certainly advisable. This is a game where your choices have consequences, and
life doesn't often grant second chances. Of course, you can always reload a
previous save.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Combat
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a game that focuses on story, Riviera has an interesting combat system.
Knowing how it works will make the game so much more enjoyable.

-------------
Party Assembly
-------------

You can only fight with three characters in any one battle, as such; you'd
better choose the right ones. Using Lina against flying opponents is
advisable, as she specializes in bows. Using Cierra in a fight with multiple
enemies is a good idea, because her Over Skills often hit several enemies at
once. You will find yourself at a significant advantage if you bother to
assess the strengths of each character.

-------------
Party Formation
-------------

While it may seem simple, party formation is pretty important in a game where
the enemies attack people in certain positions. For example, there are enemies
who attack only the frontlines. It stands to reason that you wouldn't,
therefore, place your weakest team member where they are vulnerable to attack.
In the same way, if you are using Serene against a fire-based opponent, don't
place her within easy reach of the enemy.

-------------
Equal Treatment
-------------

You have four companions who can aid you in battle, choosing to only focus on
improving two of those characters is a bad idea. First off, not everyone can
use the same items. So at certain points in the game you will have weapons
that certain characters can use effectively, but not others. This places you
at a disadvantage when you have to fight with an item pool that is even more
limited than it should be. In the same way, each character has advantages over
certain enemies. Serene is effective against fire-based opponents, Fia dark and
unholy enemies, Lina flying opponents, and Cierra works well when fighting ice-
based enemies. Choosing to concentrate on only two characters will forfeit
these inherent benefits, and may even place you at a disadvantage.

-------------
The Right Tools
-------------

You can only carry four items into battle with you. When combined with the
fact that these weapons are shared amongst all participants you are given the
opportunity to choose certain items that are more useful than others. For
example, you should pick items that multiple characters can use effectively
(e.g. Lina, Fia, and Ein can use Longbows) because it gives you a weapon for
two or more characters at the cost of one item slot. Similarly, try to choose
items that two characters can use in different ways. For example, Lina uses
spellbooks to attack, but Fia uses them to heal.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Item Management
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Riviera is a game that puts heavy emphasis on the effective use of items. They
aren't for sale and don't last forever, so don't squander them.

-------------
Don't be a Pack Rat
-------------

As previously stated, items are perishable, and you can only carry so many. As
such, try to make certain you're only carrying items you're likely to use. If
you haven't used it in the last 5-7 battles, you probably won't use it at all.

-------------
Avoid Duplication
-------------

In the same vein as collecting, avoid carrying too many of the same thing. If
you already have a perfectly good Rapier, do you really need another one? By
the time your first Rapier breaks, you'll probably find a more powerful
replacement. In the same way, avoid hanging on to less powerful versions of
your current armaments. If you have a Silver Rapier, you probably don't need a
normal one.

-------------
Practice makes Perfect
-------------

After you have the option of fighting Practice Battles be sure to do just that.
Most of the items in the game can be used effectively by at least one
character, so try to train whenever possible so that less useful items don't
spend any more time in your possession than necessary. I guarantee you that it
makes the later stages of the game far less frustrating.

_______________________________________________________________________________

III. WALKTHROUGH PROPER
_______________________________________________________________________________

This walkthrough will take you straight through to the end of the game. I've
tried to make it as thorough and easy to use as possible, so you shouldn't
have many problems locating the information you want.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Angelic Advent
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
1-1: Angel's Memorial
------------------

The beginning chapter of Riviera is, in essence, one giant tutorial. Neither
restrictive nor overly difficult, this part of the game gives you the
opportunity to become familiar with how things work. However, simply because
the game tells you what to do doesn't mean there isn't anything of interest
lying around, or a challenge to be had.

As soon as things kick off you will be thrust into the middle of combat. You
don't have the luxury of running, so quickly equip Ein's Einherjar (Ledah's
Lorelei is automatically selected and cannot be removed) and engage the enemy.
Appreciate the empty inventory while you can, it'll fill up soon enough.

----------
Battle: Unleashed Beast
Points: 1,500
Items: Potion x03
----------

You will find that Ledah automatically recovers 250 HP before each of his
attacks, and that his Execution level Over Skill, Lost Seraph, is the key to
scoring well in the battles ahead. Be sure to finish off each enemy encounter
with this same skill, the extra TPs gained will come in handy.

NOTE: The enemy drops a Potion x03 regardless of which rank you achieve

Unfortunately, there isn't anything worth inspecting in this area or the next,
so scroll through the text whilst advancing to the right. Upon arrival at the
third screen you'll encounter a trio of demons.

----------
Battle: Snarling Demons
Points: 1,500
Items: N/A
----------

Once the battle is over you'll find it impossible to advance any further, so
return to the previous screen. After viewing an extensive description of
gameplay mechanics drop down the newly discovered cliff to continue your
mission.

------------------
1-2: Skywalk
------------------

After landing on the lower levels, scroll through the text and turn your
attention to the Treasure Chest suspiciously sitting by itself out in the open.
This is one of several Treasure Chests in the game that aren't trapped, so
count your small blessings. Check it out in Look Mode, but ignore the other
Trigger.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Potion x03
----------

There isn't anything else worth taking a look at, so advance to the next screen
to your right. You'll be accosted by more demons shortly after your arrival,
so be prepared.

----------
Battle: Savage Demon
Points: 1,500
Items: N/A
----------

After rejoicing at Ein's level up, take a gander at the pile of rubble to your
right. You won't gain anything to use in battle, but you will have the option
of collecting a Rock, do so. It's an Event Item, mind, so it won't waste space
in your inventory.

----------
Event: Rock Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Rock
----------

There's nothing else to do in this area, so move ahead by crossing the nearby
pillar. On the other side you'll find yourself at a crossroads, do yourself a
favor and turn left for the moment.

Inspect the piles of rubble blocking the stairway twice to discover a Mana
Wisp. Seize it to power up your characters, then return to the previous area
and move to the right.

----------
Event: Found Mana Wisp!
Points: 3,000
Power Up: Party; +10 MAX HP, +1 Strength, Magic, Agility, Vitality
----------

You'll find another Treasure Chest in this area, though I wouldn't bother
checking its sand-filled interior. There's nothing else of much interest here,
so move one screen to the right.

------------------
1-3: Stairway of Judgment
------------------

There's nothing to see on this screen, so move to the right once more to
encounter another band of demonic forces. Wipe them out and move on.

----------
Battle: Tiny Magician
Points: 1,500
Items: N/A
----------

In the next area don't be so hasty to move ahead just yet. At this point you
have a few options.

OPTION 1: Sacrifice one TP to inspect the winding path above you to discover a
giant spider. Use the Rock you picked up earlier to send the spider to an
early grave and obtain a new, more useful item in return.

NOTE: Should you choose to expend your Rock on the spider, you won't have the
option of obtaining a few different items in 2-4. Think carefully.

----------
Event: Spider Hit!
Points: 10,000
Items: Spider Web x20
----------

OPTION 2: Sacrifice one TP to inspect the winding path above you to discover a
giant spider. Choose not to use the Rock you picked up earlier (or miss,
either way) and fight two of the hairy monsters manually.

----------
Battle: Dangling Spider
Points: 2,500
Items: N/A
----------

OPTION 3: Ignore the stairway completely and move on to the next area.

Regardless of which option you choose, make sure you enter the next area.

------------------
1-4: Cavern of Judgment
------------------

Be sure to take a look at the sunlight peeking through the ceiling. It may not
yield an item immediately, but it leads to one. Once you've done that, move
one screen to the right to encounter yet another group of opponents. Eliminate
them without hesitation.

----------
Battle: Soul Hunter
Points: 2,500
Items: Potion x03
----------

Before moving ahead, take a minute to check the sunlight pouring down from
above. The result is a set of Orihalcon, an Event Item. If you didn't check
the sunlight in the first chamber before doing so in this one, then you won't
find any item at all.

----------
Event: Orihalcon Acquired
Points: 7,000
Items: Orihalcon
----------

There's nothing else to see, so move to the right.

In the next chamber don't leave just yet; inspect the rock step in front of you.
Choose to strike it and you will be assaulted by a giant boulder. Avoid it and
move on (you can strike the step again if you like, but it doesn't yield any
reward).

----------
Event: Boulder Dodged!
Points: 5,000
Input: Up, Up, A
----------

After that's finished, advance to the next area by moving right.

------------------
1-5: Heaven's Scale
------------------

Several things to look at here; you might want to start with that sword in the
ground. Do be aware that the more attempts it takes you to remove the sword
the easier it gets, and the worse the results will be. In addition to which,
you won't receive a power up either.

----------
Event: Sword Removed!
Points: 2,000-3,000
Items: Dragon Killer x05-15
Power Up: Ein; Strength +1
Input: Press A x10-12
----------

If you fail to pull out the sword three times it'll shatter, leaving you with
nothing but the hilt. It's an Event Item, and has no use in combat.

----------
Event: Sword Hilt Removed!
Points: 1,500
Items: Sword Hilt
----------

Once that's finished inspect the nearby ledge, it'll lead you to the next
screen. There isn't anything else worth viewing, so jump to the boulder below.
The minute you land, you'll be engaged by a Boulder Dragon, now would be a good
time to put that sword to use.

----------
Battle: Boulder Dragon
Points: 7,500
Items: N/A
----------

Stay on your toes now, a surprise sequence is coming up. Shortly after
defeating the dragon you'll have the option of leaping to a nearby ledge, it's
rather difficult, but quite rewarding. (If you don't defeat the Boulder Dragon
within fourteen turns or fail to leap to the ledge, you will find yourself in
1-6.)

----------
Event: Jumped to Ledge
Points: 2,000
----------

------------------
1-9: Silver Palace
------------------

After landing, take a look at your current location. Start by inspecting the
statue twice, the result is an Event Item.

----------
Event: Ornament Acquired
Points: 3,000
Items: Golden Decoration
----------

Take a look at the Treasure Chest nearby, it isn't trapped and contains a
Bonus Item.

----------
Treasure Chest
Event: Album Acquired!
Points: 3,500
Items: Album (CG Collection)
----------

Once you've finished here, move to the right to run into a pack of rampaging
enemies; strike them down.

----------
Battle: Masters of the Palace
Points: 4,000
Items: N/A
----------

After defeating your opponents, take a look at the broken statue and take the
Rusty Sword.

----------
Event: Rusted Sword Acquired!
Points: 1,000
Items: Rusty Sword
----------

Once that's taken care of, check the goddess statue twice to receive a power
boost.

----------
Event: Goddess's Blessing!
Points: 3,000
Power Up: Ein; Agility +1
----------

You've done all that you can here, drop down the ledge to continue.

------------------
1-6: Stone Lattice
------------------

You'll land in the middle of a platform supported by a number of chains.
There's nothing worth looking at here, so go ahead and move to the right. On
the next screen, inspect the chain in the middle of the room to obtain a new
item.

----------
Item Acquired: Power Wrist x15
----------

Once you have the above item, move to the right. As soon as you do you'll be
thrust into combat against a wyvern. It counts as a dragon, so decimate it
with your specialized Dragon Killer.

----------
Battle: Wind Splitter
Points: 4,000
Items: Naga Fang x10
----------

After defeating the wyvern, slip into Look Mode and investigate the sudden
sound originating from above you. Whatever you do, be sure to catch the item!

----------
Event: Successful Grab!
Points: 6,000
Items: Angel's Bell
Input: Left, Right, Up, Down, A
----------

Once you've finished here move back to the previous area and cross the nearby
chains. You'll be accosted by demons after the crossing, so be prepared to
fight.

----------
Battle: Dark Queens
Points: 2,500
Items: N/A
----------

In the next area you'll see another Treasure Chest simply sitting out in the
open. Again, it isn't trapped, so approach without fear.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Fire Orb x03
Input: N/A
----------

After you've looted the Treasure Chest move to the right to advance to the next
area.

------------------
1-7: Remote Sanctuary
------------------

As soon as you enter the area you'll notice another Treasure Chest sitting out
in the open. Unfortunately, this one is trapped, so be ready! Sadly, there
isn't any item in this Chest, so your display of dexterity is something of a
wasted effort.

----------
Treasure Chest
Event: Trap Evaded!
Points: 3,000
Items: N/A
Input: Down, Down, A
----------

Once all is said and done, move to the right and engage the enemies that
confront you.

----------
Battle: Beauty and the Wyvern
Points: 4,000
Items: N/A
----------

Before moving ahead, check the cracked floor in the corner. There's a sword
lodged between the tiles. That sword is a Rosier, a powerful holy weapon that
can only be used once.

----------
Event: Weapon Acquired
Points: 1,000
Items: Rosier x01
Input: Press A x10
----------

On the next screen be sure to survey your surroundings. You'll find NoNo, a
sprite who's lost her way. Volunteer to help her return home and she'll give
you a considerable power boost.

----------
Event: Protected NoNo!
Points: 4,000
Items: NoNo
Power Up: Ein; HP +100%, Magic +1
----------

Once you've finished, move right to advance to the final area.

------------------
1-8: Gate to Riviera
------------------

Before moving to the next screen prematurely, be sure to check the corridor in
Look Mode. On the next screen check the same corridor again and Ledah will give
you a valuable Elixir. If you didn't check the corridor at first opportunity
before doing so on the second occasion then you won't receive anything.

----------
Item Acquired: Elixir x01
----------

After you've prepared yourself advance to the final screen to view a lengthy
cut-scene... and the dungeon boss.

///////////////////////////////////////|\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Battle: The Holy Beast
Points: 12,000
Items: Ignis Spear x01

Recommended Items:
Lorelei
Einherjar
Fire Orb x03
Potion x03

Strategy:
You're facing a single opponent with 6,000 HP, no particular resistances, and a
preference for fire-based attacks. I recommend raising Ein's fire resistance
via your Fire Orb as soon as possible to lessen the amount of damage he's going
to take (be aware that using your Potion will negate this effect). Ledah, not
being able to do anything else, should concentrate on whittling down Aghart's
health with Lorelei. Ein should use Einherjar and his Over Skill to do the
same, healing as necessary. As soon as the enemy drops below 1,300 HP and the
OD meter hits the third tier have Ledah blow the opposition away with Lost
Seraph. This should not be a particularly difficult nor lengthy battle, just
don't let Aghart unleash his own Max attack too often, it packs a wallop.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\|///////////////////////////////////////

The reward for your efforts is a long cut-scene and a number of TPs. Stage 1
has now ended.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elendia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
0-9: Lina and Fia's Place
------------------

The interim begins with a rather humorous explanation of current events. Once
you've finished reading through all the text, be sure to pick up the free Bread
on the table by inspecting it twice.

----------
Item Acquired: Bread x10
----------

You should also speak with the girl in the corner, remember her name? It's Fia!
Once you've finished up on the first floor move to Lina's room on the second.
Speaking with the fairy, CoCo, doesn't result in anything besides humorous
dialogue. Lina however wants to know how you're doing. You can save your game
in the Book of Memories on the table, after which you should exit the house to
begin exploring.

Visit the Pixia Residence and head to the bottom screen. Speak with the boy a
few times and promise to tell him about the world so he'll give you a useful
Coral Staff.

----------
Item Acquired: Coral Staff x50
----------

Stop by the Hobbit Smithy and speak with Chappi three times, he'll then convert
that useless Rusty Sword of yours into a valuable Iron Sword.

----------
Item Acquired: Iron Sword x50
----------

After you've done that, leave for Undine Spring. Once you've arrived make
certain you speak with the fairy on the right, it's NoNo! Aside from
embarrassing you, she'll give you a Ribbon. Ein can't use it very well, but
your soon-to-be party member (Lina) can. Once you've obtained the Ribbon move
right.

----------
Item Acquired: Ribbon x25
----------

Speak with LuLu the fairy to learn about the Moondrop that can help restore
Meute's voice. Make a note of it before making your way towards the
Grove of Repose and Crystal Caverns alike. Speak with the residents there then
return to Lina and Fia's place. Talk with CoCo to learn where Lina's run off
to, then retrace your steps to the Crystal Caverns.

Speak with Ritz to uncover the location of the Elder's house, then exit the
area and pay a visit to that very abode.

Enter the house to view a rather lengthy scene describing not only the
situation at hand, but your next destination as well. Listen to Lina and Fia's
decision to head to Rosalina Island before revisiting the Crystal Caverns.
Speak with Claude and Soala in the back chambers, then attempt to leave the
guild. As you do so, you'll notice another path leading to the right, take it.

You'll encounter Lina and Fia again. Ein decides to join them in their
expedition to Rosalina Island, and Chapter 2 begins in earnest.

NOTE: At this point you'll obtain not only two party members but their items as
well. Chances are you don't have room for everything, so I recommend discarding
either the Fire Orb or a Potion that only has one use left.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2: Pursuit of Truth
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
2-1: Wilheim Bluff
------------------

Once you arrive at Rosalina Island, start things off by inspecting the wet
grass nearby; be sure to pick up the medicinal herbs growing there! They may
not be useful immediately, but Fia can turn them into a handy Potion with time.

----------
Item Acquired: Healing Herb x15
----------

During this sequence, Lina will ask you what a Potion happens to be. Be a
sport and answer her question correctly.

Attempting to leave the area will reveal a second Trigger. Inspecting it will
result in the discovery of a broken dagger, an Event Item. This same weapon,
much like the Rusty Sword, can be repaired by Chappi once you return to
Elendia.

----------
Event: Dagger Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Chipped Dagger
----------

There's nothing else to do here, so move to the next screen. Upon your arrival
you'll be attacked by a demon, cut it down and move on. If you haven't already
noticed, Ein's Diviner isn't the most useful of weapons at the moment, so I
suggest resorting to something else, preferably a sword.

----------
Battle: Demon Shrub
Points: 1,000
Items: Slumber Ivy x10, Rose Whip x05
----------

The next screen reveals even more plant life. Don't bother inspecting it, as
it yields nothing but unnecessary harm. If you are unfortunate enough to touch
it both Lina and Ein will take 5% damage to their MAX HP.

There's nothing else of interest here, so move to the right.

------------------
1-2: Shadow Bridge
------------------

You'll be forced to express your view on whether or not to inspect the going-
ons at Lacrima Castle. If you want your companions to like you you'd best
respond favorably. Bothering to voice any other opinion will result in a loss
of face.

Once you're done conversing take a moment to inspect the nearby statue a few
times. After two viewings you'll be confronted by a lone enemy, take down this
nocturnal foe and move to the next screen.

----------
Battle: Awakened Vampire
Points: 1,000
Items: Pendant x05-10, Hell Scythe x10
----------

In this next section of the bridge, inspect the gargoyle. When prompted,
respond "Me, too." to have Lina compulsively (and accidentally) activate a
trap. Failing to dodge said trap will result in the entire party taking 5%
damage to their MAX HP and the loss of several turns.

----------
Event: Gargoyle's Beam Dodged
Points: 3,500
Input: Right, A, Right, A
----------

After cheating death inspect the unopened Treasure Chest sitting in the middle
of nowhere. You'd think the demons would have looted the place by now.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: A, Up, Right, Down
       Right, Up, A, Right
       Down, A, Right, Down
----------

You can't do anything else here, so move to the right. You'll be confronted by
another demon duo after entering the area. I heavily recommend trying to kill
the Mage first, before he has the chance to summon an undead Skeleton.

----------
Battle: Gatekeepers
Points: 1,500
Items: Cape x05-10, Mage Armor x05-10
----------

After you've trounced the guards enter Lacrima Castle.

------------------
2-3: Moonlit Garden
------------------

Shortly after entering Lacrima, you'll be prompted to avoid a passing sentry.

----------
Event: Hid from the Guard
Points: 3,000
Input: Up, Up, A, Down
----------

If you fail to input the sequence quickly enough you'll be forced into a
confrontation. After the battle is over, you'll be pressed to respond to
Lina's apology. As always, being polite is the fastest way to make someone
like you.

----------
Battle: Patrol Team
Points: 1,000
Items: Spiked Hammer x03-05, Flamberg x03-05
----------

Regardless of your actions, move to the right once you've finished. You'll be
attacked yet again by a lone demon.

----------
Battle: Wandering Beast
Points: 1,500
Items: Canine Fang x10-15
----------

Once the conflict is over you will gain the option to Practice between battles.
I suggest you do so now to gain experience with some of those weapons/items you
may have been clinging to. (If you haven't yet transformed those Healing Herbs
into a Potion, now is an opportune time.) Once you're satisfied with the
results of your training inspect the nearby Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Coral Staff x40, Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: N/A
----------

After you've secured the Treasure Chest's contents descend into the shadows.

On the next screen you can do naught but inspect the nearby tree. Do so.
Close scrutiny shall reveal an item lodged between the branches. Rather than
ignore the item, do your best to dislodge it (as an added bonus, Lina's
affection for Ein will rise).

----------
Event: Fruit Acquired!
Points: 2,500
Input: Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
----------

At this point in the proceedings you have a number of options to choose from:

OPTION 1: Choose to keep the fruit for later consumption.

----------
Item Acquired: Apricot x10
----------

OPTION 2: Give the fruit to Lina. This will also result in a raise in Lina's
affection for Ein.

----------
Power Up: Lina; MAX HP +10
----------

OPTION 3: Give the fruit to Fia. Rather than eat the entire thing herself, she
chooses to share it.

----------
Power Up: Party; MAX HP +5
----------

OPTION 4: Eat the fruit yourself. Bear in mind that this will result in a loss
of affection in Lina.

----------
Power Up: Ein; MAX HP +10
----------

OPTION 5: Choosing this option will have the same impact as Option 2, minus the
rise in Lina's affection.

----------
Power Up: Lina; MAX HP +10
----------

There's nothing else to do here, so return to the previous screen.

NOTE: From this point onward, there is the possibility of additional sentries
crossing your path in both this corridor and the next. In such an event you
will be prompted to enter the following sequences. Success in this venture
will also result in a rise in Fia's affection for Ein.

----------
Event: Hid from the Guard!
Points: 4,000
Input: Up, Up, A, Down
        Right, Right, A
----------

If you happen to fail you will be forced into combat. After the battle you
will be pressed to respond to Lina's apology. As always, being polite is the
fastest way to make someone like you.

----------
Battle: Patrol Team
Points: 1,000
Items: Spiked Hammer x03-05, Flamberg x03-05
----------

Regardless of whether or not you discover another team of guards, continue your
investigation by moving right.

In the next area you'll come across yet another Treasure Chest. As you attempt
to open it however, Fia will draw your attention to a number of suspicious
noises originating from the foliage. Before investigating this disturbance
finish checking the Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Coral Staff x40, Iron Sword x40, Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: N/A
----------

Once you're done looting turn your attention to the vociferous tree. You'll
have the option of either shaking said tree, or keeping watch. Personally I
recommend the latter. After it is revealed that there are demons nearby, you
have more options.

OPTION 1 & 2: Have Fia/Lina act as a decoy so that Ein and Lina/Fia can use the
recently emptied Treasure Chest to kill the unsuspecting guard. As an added
bonus, both Fia and Lina's affection for Ein increases. (If you didn't bother
to open the Treasure Chest before launching it at your foe, you can check the
tree a second time to pick up a Canine Fang x10.)

----------
Event: Mission Accomplished!
Points: 6,000
----------

OPTION 3: Choosing to try and sneak past the demons results in a different
puzzle altogether. Your companions' affection for Ein won't increase using
this method, but there's no chance of it decreasing either.

----------
Event: Snuck Past Guard!
Points: 5,000
Input: Up, Right, __ Left, __ Left
----------

OPTION 4: If you were foolish enough to shake the tree, failed to sneak past
the demons, or botched an ambush, you will be forced into combat. And if you
did botch an ambush whomever you chose as a decoy will take 5% damage to her
MAX HP. Additionally, both females will be very displeased with your
incompetence.

----------
Battle: Bush Slackers
Points: 1,000
Items: Mage Armor x05
----------

Whatever you do, be sure to advance to the next area.

------------------
1-4: Sentry Tower
------------------

In this area you may happen to notice a pile of bones on the ground. You can
purify them if you like, avoiding a possible battle later on. Should you
decide to lay the tormented soul to rest (a highly advisable course of action)
you will need to choose one of your companions to carry out the task.

OPTION 1: Have Fia purify the bones via prayer. She will take 5% damage to her
MAX HP, but her affection for Ein will increase.

----------
Event: Bones Purified!
Points: 4,000
Input: __ Right, Left, Up, __ __ __ Down, __ Up, Right __ __ __ Down
----------

If you fail at this method the results are similar, though Fia will neither
take damage nor become more affectionate towards Ein.

----------
Event: Bones Purified?
Points: 2,000
----------

OPTION 2: If you leave this situation to Lina, she will inadvertently awaken
the evil spirit within the desecrated corpse. Naturally, you will have to
destroy this abomination. This is one battle where Ein's Einherjar will have
an advantage over other weapons, seeing as the enemy is weak to holy attacks
(in fact, most other attacks are invalid).

----------
Battle: Rampant Soul
Points: 1,000
Items: Tarot x01
----------

OPTION 3: Ignore the bones for now. Be aware that if you choose this option
you will have to fight not one, but three Skeletons in this area at a later
date.

Whichever option you choose, move to the right once you've finished.

In this next area you will find yourself battling a wyvern. The key difference
between this beast and the other dragon spawn you've faced is that this monster
has the ability to blow you off the battlefield. Indeed, you have no choice
but to fall victim to this technique at least once, as it is impossible to
defeat him on your first attempt.

------------------
2-5: Connecting Bridge
------------------

After being brushed off by the enemy wyrm, you'll find yourself atop the
Lacrima Castle battlements, minus one party member. Before you have time to
recuperate however, you will be ambushed by a pair of demons. (Whichever
female happens to remain in your company is the one with the highest affection
towards Ein at this point.)

----------
Battle: Shadow Dwellers
Points: 1,000
Items: Slime Ball x05-10, Spider Web x05-10
----------

Before leaving your lofty perch be sure to question your companion on her
condition via Look Mode. After that, drop down to the Moonlit Garden below.

------------------
2-3: Moonlit Garden
------------------

You will land in that shadowy area where you first found the Apricot. There
is nothing of further interest here, so quickly make your way to the nearby
corridor and turn right.

You will find your missing companion in this section. After a teary reunion
return to Sentry Tower by moving right.

------------------
2-4: Sentry Tower
------------------

NOTE: If you chose not to concern yourself with the desecrated remains in this
area upon your first visit, you will find that the corpse has reanimated
itself. The Skeleton isn't very happy that you left him to rot, and you'll have
to defeat both him and his friends before advancing further. Of course, being
an unholy Skeleton, Ein's Einherjar will do significant damage.

----------
Battle: Lawless Being
Points: 1,500
Items: Shield x05
----------

Whether or not a group of undead block your path, be sure to advance when you
are able.

In this next area you will encounter that blasted wyvern again. You may notice
that his MAX attack, Gale Wing, is responsible for your forced flight. On the
flip side, any damage this enemy takes is retained between encounters, so you
can slowly wear him down.

NOTE: You may want to consider being purposely blasted off the tower one last
time (in fact, I insist) as you will find the resulting item very useful later
on.

----------
Battle: Jet Black Wind
Points: 4,000
Items: Wyrm Wing x03
----------

NOTE: If you happened to be forced into a retreat, retrace your steps to the
Moonlit Garden. Rather than experiencing a safe landing, you'll land on the
nearby tree. Lina will take 5% damage to her MAX HP, but she'll also snap off
a tree branch in the process. Be sure to pick this Event Item up should you
have the chance, you can use it to obtain other, more useful items later on.

----------
Item Acquired: Mosamo Branch
----------

After you've defeated the Black Wyrm, move to the right.

On this screen, survey the area for a nearby bat in Look Mode. Lina will take
a liking to this critter and demand that you catch it. You don't have to, of
course.

OPTION 1: Catch the bat. The result is the aptly named Battle Item, Mr. Bat.

----------
Event: Bat Captured!
Points: 3,000
Items: Mr. Bat x05
Input: Up, Right, A, Right, Up, A, B, Left, Right
----------

If you fail to catch the bat, he will attack you. You won't lose face this
way, but it doesn't yield much in the way of useful items either.

----------
Battle: Lost Bat of Lacrima
Points: 1,000
Items: Hourglass x10
----------

OPTION 2: Use your Rock to kill Mr. Bat. The result is an Event Item you can
use to gain a power boost back in Elendia. Understandably, Lina won't be very
happy with this decision. And if you fail to hit your mark, the bat will
simply fly away.

----------
Event: Bat Vanquished!
Points: 1,500
Items: Dark Bat Wings
----------

NOTE: If you don't have that Rock from the first chapter then you won't have
the opportunity to interact with Mr. Bat at all.

Advance to the next area after dealing with the nocturnal bloodsucker.

------------------
2-5: Connecting Bridge
------------------

Be sure to inspect the Treasure Chest sitting conspicuously out in the open
before moving right.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Coral Staff x40, Iron Sword x40, Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: A, Up, Right, Down
       Right, Up, A, Right
----------

In the next area you will be accosted by a trio of demons. You'll soon
discover, for better or worse, that the Murmurs have the ability to not only
steal your precious items, but also explode. Try to avoid triggering either of
those abilities.

----------
Battle: Runt Squad
Points: 1,000
Items: Rosary x05-15
----------

You'll spot another Chest after the battle, open it despite Fia's misgivings.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Hell Scythe x15
Input: N/A
----------

Be certain to inspect the other Trigger as well; it opens up another route for
you to explore. Instead of taking this new path, turn right for the moment.

In this area yet another Treasure Chest lies in wait, although this one bears
an ill surprise. You have no choice but to inspect it, so be prepared. If you
fail to dodge your assailant's attack, everyone will take 5% damage to their
MAX HP.

----------
Event: Dodged Surprise Attack!
Points: 4,000
Input: Down, Left, Left, A
----------

You'll be thrust into combat against your attackers immediately after.

----------
Battle: Voluptuous Vampire
Points: 2,000
Items: Pendant x05-10
----------

Once the surprise attack is over, move to the right.

Guess what you'll find in this area? Another Treasure Chest! Interestingly,
this particular Chest is more ornate than the others, so it must hold something
more powerful, right? Either way, inspect the Treasure Chest and tell Lina to
open it when prompted.

Unfortunately, there was nothing in this Treasure Chest. Instead, you get
ambushed by a group of demons and are teleported to the next area
involuntarily.

------------------
2-9: Castle Dungeon
------------------

Ironically, the first thing likely to catch your eye in this chamber is that
Treasure Chest in the corner. Inspect it.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Coral Staff x40, Iron Sword x40, Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: A, Up, Right, Down
       Down, A, Right, Down
----------

There's nothing else worth looking at here, so move to the right.

On the next screen take a closer look at the nearby wall. The cryptic writing
is gibberish, what's important are the blatantly obvious directions. Make a
note of them; they are crucial to obtaining a Bonus Item once you return to
Elendia.

----------
Event: Found Mysterious Words
Points: 1,500
----------

After you've finished inspecting the message move to the right once more.

And so we come to a crossroads. Before you are three coffins, each of them
containing a powerful elemental weapon. Unfortunately, each of these weapons
also have an irate guardian, and it won't be happy should you decide to plunder
its resting place. You can only pick one coffin to pillage, so choose wisely.

OPTION 1: The left coffin contains a Silver Rapier, a holy weapon that Fia
specializes in. If you choose to give this weapon to anyone but Fia, she (Fia)
will be rather disappointed in you.

----------
Item Acquired: Silver Rapier x15
----------

Whoever lays hands on the weapon will have their MAX HP reduced by 15%. In
addition, you'll be forced to defeat the sword's keeper. Bear in mind that
this enemy is invulnerable to all but holy attacks.

----------
Battle: Dark Coffin Spirit
Points: 1,500
Items: Tarot x02
----------

OPTION 2: The middle coffin contains a Flamberg, a fire-based weapon that Ein
specializes in.

----------
Item Acquired: Flamberg x15
----------

Whoever lays hands on the weapon will have their MAX HP reduced by 15%. In
addition, you'll be forced to defeat the sword's keeper. Bear in mind that
this enemy is extremely weak to fire attacks, but is invulnerable to normal
attacks.

----------
Battle: Electric Coffin Spirit
Points: 1,500
Items: Lightning Orb x05
----------

OPTION 3: The right coffin contains a Lightning Bow, a lightning-based weapon
that Lina specializes in. If you choose to give this weapon to anyone but
Lina, she (Lina) will be rather disappointed in you.

----------
Item Acquired: Lightning Bow x15
----------

Whoever lays hands on the weapon will have their MAX HP reduced by 15%. In
addition, you'll be forced to defeat the bow's keeper. Bear in mind that this
enemy is extremely weak to lightning attacks, but is invulnerable to normal
attacks.

----------
Battle: Ice Coffin Spirit
Points: 1,500
Items: Ice Orb x05
----------

Regardless of which casket you choose (and you'll have to pick one of them if
you want to leave this area) defeating the appropriate guardian will transport
you back to the Moonlit Garden.

----------
Event: Consecrated the Coffin!
Points: 5,000
----------

------------------
2-3: Moonlit Garden
------------------

Once again you'll find yourself in that shadowy area near the long-suffering
tree. Retrace your steps to Sentry Tower by moving up, then two screens to the
right.

------------------
2-4: Sentry Tower
------------------

You've already seen and done everything you can here, so move three screens to
the right to advance to the next area.

------------------
2-5: Connecting Bridge
------------------

Move one screen to the right then drop down to the rooftops below. You should
have already uncovered that particular course of action via Look Mode the last
time you crossed this way. After landing you'll be attacked by a pack of
demons; strike them down.

----------
Battle: Midnight Bats
Points: 1,500
Items: Hourglass x05-10
----------

After you've finished move to the right. On the next screen inspect the
rooftop to discover a number of cracked tiles.

----------
Event: Avoided Cracked Tiles
Points: 1,500
----------

Leap to the next area by moving right.

------------------
2-6: Castle Chambers
------------------

Start things off in this area by inspecting the nearby flame. Hold your hand
over it for Ein to receive a power boost. Yes, for the purposes of this event,
playing with fire is advisable.

----------
Power Up: Ein; Magic +1
----------

If you happened to have picked up that Mosamo Branch as per my advice you
should light it on fire here to create a handy Torch.

----------
Item Acquired: Torch
----------

Move to the right once you've finished. You'll be ambushed by a group of
undead monsters on the way, so have your holy weapons ready.

----------
Battle: Bolio's Necro Team
Points: 3,000
Items: Book of Laura x10, Cape x10, Rosary x10-15, Shield x10,
----------

After this battle is over, inspect the lone statue twice; the result is a
useful spear. (Keep in mind that using the Over Skills associated with this
weapon will do damage to both the enemy and the user.)

----------
Item Acquired: Gae Bolg x50
----------

With demonic spear in hand investigate the blue flame flickering away nearby.
As fate would have it, the unnatural fire turns out to be a demon. This same
enemy is incredibly weak, though only holy attacks can damage it.

----------
Battle: Advancing Flame
Points: 1,000
Items: Tarot x02
----------

You may want to relight the candle before moving to the next screen. In the
next area you'll come across another Treasure Chest; take a closer look at it.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Coral Staff x40, Iron Sword x40, Longbow x40, Rapier x40
Input: A, Up, Right, Down
       Right, Up, A, Right
----------

Advance to the next area by moving right.

------------------
2-7: Moonlit Courtyard
------------------

Upon arriving inspect the purple flowers in the corner. After that, continue
your exploration by moving right once more.

In this area you'll encounter a group of demons. I think you know what to do
in this situation. Other than the trio of enemies there isn't anything else of
interest, so move down after the battle.

----------
Battle: Courtyard Guard Dog
Points: 2,000
Items: Amulet x10-15, Canine Fang x05
----------

The main (and only) draw in this area is the giant fountain. Upon inspection
of this fountain you'll find that you have a number of options to choose from.

OPTION 1: You can have Ein drink from the fountain if you like, though the only
result is 5% damage to his MAX HP.

OPTION 2: You can scoop up some water to take to those withering Moon Lilies you
came across before. After obtaining the water you have a limited number of
turns to return to the flowers, so retrace your steps posthaste.

----------
Item Acquired: Water
----------

OPTION 3: You can immerse your Torch (if you have one) in the water here. The
result is an Event Item you can exchange for a Battle Item back in Elendia.
In retrospect, you can use said Torch to obtain a couple of Battle Items in the
next area.

----------
Item Acquired: Mosamo Ash
----------

As you return to the screen with the Moon Lilies Lina's poor footwork will get
the better of her. As the energetic archer plummets towards the ground you have
a choice to make.

OPTION 1: Saving Lina requires that you sacrifice your handful of water, but
she'll be grateful for your assistance. Of course, you can always revisit the
fountain to replenish your supply of the valuable liquid.

----------
Event: Saved Lina
Points: 3,000
Input: Down, Right, Up, A
----------

OPTION 2: You can hold on to the water at the cost of letting Lina take 5%
damage to her MAX HP. There's no real positive result to this course of
action.

Regardless, be sure to return to the Moon Lilies with water in hand to keep
them from withering away entirely.

----------
Event: Revived Moon Lilies!
Points: 5,000
----------

The reward for your efforts is the Moondrop needed to cure Meute's inability to
speak, remember? Be sure to snag this little gem while you have the chance.

----------
Event: Moondrop Acquired
Points: 2,500
Items: Moondrop
----------

Inspect the now healthy flowers one last time to learn of Lina's sudden
infatuation with them. Allow Lina to pick one of these flowers, it too can be
used to create a useful item once you return to Elendia.

----------
Event: Moon Lily Acquired
Points: 2,500
Items: Moon Lily
----------

After finishing that lengthy chain of events return to the previous screen and
move right. As you attempt to do so another object will drop down from above.
Pick it up at your leisure.

----------
Item Acquired: Black Earring x25
----------

Again, move to the right once you're ready. You'll hear a definite scream
coming from above, but turn your attention towards the nearby thicket instead.

As per her spontaneous nature, Lina will begin searching for four-leaf clovers.
It's not a guaranteed find, though. You have a rough 20% (1/5) chance of
claiming one each time you attempt a search. Granted, it's an Event Item that
has no practical use, so its value is questionable.

----------
Event: Four-Leaf Clover Acquired!
Points: 6,000
Items: Four-Leaf Clover
----------

After searching the thicket, investigate the source of the scream you heard
earlier. Sooner or later you'll find yourself defending a lone Arc from her
otherworldly assailant. It's impossible to emerge victorious from this
confrontation, as the battle ends once your enemy's Rage meter fills.

----------
Battle: Black-Winged Woman
Points: 5,000
Items: N/A
----------

Meet your newest companion, Serene. She's the last remaining Arc in Rivera and
wants to avenge the slaughter of her people. Sadly, she's rather weak at the
moment, so spend some time fighting Practice Battles before moving right.

------------------
2-8: Sealed Tower
------------------

A group of demons will attack shortly after you set foot in this area, so be
prepared. Keep in mind that you can only engage the enemy with three people at
once, so someone (Ein not included) will have to cheer from the sidelines.

----------
Battle: Castle Wanderers
Points: 1,000
Items: Amulet x01-10, Spiked Hammer x01-10
----------

After moving to the next screen you'll finally have a use for that Torch you've
been lugging around (and if you don't have said Torch, shame on you). Fia will
automatically take 5% damage to her MAX HP, but in doing so she'll reveal a
handy torch stand. Take a closer look to illuminate the area and reveal a
Treasure Chest. Need I tell you what to do?

----------
Event: Ogrenium Acquired!
Points: 3,000
Items: Ogrenium
----------

You've nothing else to inspect here, so move to the right. Once more you'll
find yourself cloaked in darkness, only this time the shadows conceal a threat.
You'll be prompted to avoid a sudden attack from afar, do so.

----------
Input: Up, Up, A, Down
----------

Quickly light up the area to reveal your attacker. You'll be forced into
combat immediately after.

----------
Battle: Mad Magician
Points: 2,000
Items: Flamberg x05, Mage Armor x05
----------

NOTE: Alternatively, you could choose to simply race by the enemy without
pausing to engage them. You'll forfeit the Book of Laura using this method,
though, and that's simply not advisable.

----------
Event: All Magic Avoided!
Points: 12,000
Input: Right, Up, Up, A, Left
Left, Up, B, Down, A, Right
Up, A, Left, Up, B, Down, Right, Left, A
----------

Inspect the Treasure Chest, use the Practice option 'til you're certain of
your strength, and move two screens to the right.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Book of Laura x50
Input: N/A
----------

On the final screen you'll have to inspect the nearby lithograph before
confronting the dungeon boss.

///////////////////////////////////////|\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Battle: The Demon Knight
Points: 8,000
Items: Excalibur x01

Recommended Party:
Fighting Formation
Ein
Fia
Lina

Recommended Items:
Einherjar
Gae Bolg x50
Book of Laura x50
<Coffin Item> x15

Strategy:
This battle is separated into two stages. The first stage is one where you
can't actually harm the enemy. As such, you shouldn't bother attempting the
impossible. During this phase concentrate on having Fia use the Book of Laura
to keep everyone alive (in the meanwhile, have everyone use Ein's Einherjar to
avoid wasting your items) while out-waiting the enemy. Once Isher
automatically uses his MAX attack the battle will begin in earnest.

As before, you're facing a single opponent with 1,000 HP and inherent
disadvantages against all but normal attacks. In addition, Isher appears to
have a severe weakness towards holy attacks. Therefore, having your party
members use items such as the Einherjar, Silver Rapier, Gae Bolg, Flamberg,
Lightning Bow, and Hell Scythe is highly recommended. (In contrast, using
normal items such as the Iron Sword, Longbow, and Rapier will have little to no
effect on this enemy.) Again, having Fia use the Book of Laura to heal the
entire party should keep you alive and well for the duration of the fight.
Finish the battle using Ein's recently unlocked Execution level Skill,
Disaresta, to defeat this Accursed for good.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\|///////////////////////////////////////

After the restoration of Ein's memory and the establishment of your new agenda,
you will be automatically transported to Wilheim Bluff and then to Elendia.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elendia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will find yourself back in the Crystal Caverns upon your return. First off,
exit this screen then turn right back around and immediately re-enter the room.
You will discover a solitary bat flying aound the cave. This is Bat Junior,
he's a wickedly destructive Battle Item that you only have one shot at
acquiring. Do your best to capture this elusive little bugger.

----------
Items: Bat Jr. x05
Input: Down, Left, B, Up, Left, A, Right
----------

Make your way to the Magic Guild and speak with the Dryad, Cluade. He'll take
an interest in the cryptic symbols you found back in the Lacrima Castle dungeon.
If you give him the correct sequence, you'll get a second Bonus Item.

----------
Items: Item Manual (Item Manual)
Input: Right, Down, A, Up, B
----------

After that, speak with Claude again to obtain an Event Item.

NOTE: If you choose to receive this Event Item then you will not be able to
obtain the third Bonus Item, the Spiral Shell, after Chapter 3.

----------
Item Acquired: Mushroom Book
----------

Now enter the Back Room and speak with Soala a few times. She'll notice the
Moon Lily that Lina was so infatuated with and mention that she can use it to
create a Moon Wand. To accomplish this she'll need both the Moon Lily and
every Coral Staff in your inventory. Sadly she doesn't have all the components
necessary at the moment, she still needs a Golden Egg. You'll find one of these
rarities in Chapter 3. Patience.

Start up a conversation with NaNa in this very room to learn that she needs a
few Bat Wings. If you happen to have any, you can give them to her to obtain a
considerable power boost.

NOTE: If it so happens that NaNa is not present, simply exit and re-enter the
chamber as neccesary.

----------
Power Up: Ein; MAX HP +20
----------

Exit the Crystal Caverns and make your way towards Undine Spring. Locate Meute
and give her the Moondrop you found back at Rosalina. Speak with her again and
she'll show her thanks by giving you a new weapon.

----------
Item Acquired: Ice Javelin x50
----------

Stop by Chappi's Smithy and show him the Ogrenium you obtained. Should you
give him that Ogrenium and all your scythes he can forge a powerful weapon.
Have him do so.

----------
Item Acquired: Ogre Blade x50
----------

Again, speak with Chappi a few times to have him take the Chipped Dagger Lina
found and turn it into a useable item.

----------
Item Acquired: Silver Dagger x10
----------

Drop by the Grove of Repose and speak with the Harpuia on the first screen.
If you can recall her name, Rebecca, she'll also give you an item.

----------
Item Acquired: Harpie Talon x50
----------

You can speak with Serene here, if you like. There's also a stray Applecot
sitting out in the open. It's not as useful as Bread or a Potion, but free
food is free food.

----------
Item Acquired: Applecot x10
----------

If you happen to have any Mosamo Ash you can give it to Rieche on the next
screen in exchange for a Battle Item.

----------
Item Acquired: Flag x10
----------

Finally, stop by Lina and Fia's place to replenish your supply of home-baked
Bread. You should also save your game using the Book of Memories before
heading towards the Elder's House.

----------
Item Acquired: Bread x10
----------

After speaking with the Elder you'll learn of your next destination, Nelde
Ruins. Chapter 3 has now begun.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 3: The Accursed
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
3-1: Wiese Forest
------------------

Immediately after entering Wiese Forest survey your surroundings via Look Mode.
You'll take note of a squirell soon after. He doesn't do anything particularly
useful, so turn your attention to the nearby mushroom. Your companions
absolutely refuse to partake of this little fungi, and if you make Ein eat it
he'll take 5% damage to his MAX HP. As such, you should bag this Event Item for
now; you can exchange it, along with several other 'shrooms, for a Bonus/Battle
Item later.

----------
Event: Unkown Mushroom Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Mushroom
----------

NOTE: If you happen to have the Mushroom Book on you, then the results shall be
slightly different.

----------
Event: Dizzyshroom Acquired!
Points: 2,500
Items: Dizzyshroom
----------

Move to the right with mushroom in hand.

You have a lot of different options here. First, take a look at the mushroom.
Again, no-one will eat it, and neither should you. Pick this mushroom and turn
your attention to the nearby Treasure Chest.

----------
Event: Unknown Mushroom Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Mushroom
----------

NOTE: If you happen to have the Mushroom Book on you, then the results shall be
slightly different.

----------
Event: Laughshroom Acquired!
Points: 2,500
Items: Laughshroom
----------

The Treasure Chest contains all three of the "Coffin Items" you found in the
previous chapter.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Flamberg x40, Lightning Bow x40, Silver Rapier x40
Input: Left, Up, A, Down
       Right, Up, A, Right
       Down, A, Right, Down
----------

Move beyond the trees after emptying the Treasure Chest. You'll encounter a
pair of demons in this area. They aren't too difficult to deal with, seeing
as the're both weak to holy attacks.

----------
Battle: Marsh Haunts
Points: 1,000
Items: Rosary x05-10
----------

NOTE: If you choose to inspect the Treasure Chest, any food or books you
happen to be carrying will be damaged or utterly ruined. As such, you might
want to forego the aquisiton of the following item.

Inspect the Treasure Chest after dealing with its guardians. You'll soon
discover that the Chest has another protector: quicksand. Rapidly mash the A
Button in a desperate grasp at freedom.

----------
Event: Escaped the Swamp
Points: 2,500
Input: Press A x10
----------

Inspect the Treasure Chest a second time to come to a crossroads. You can
either have Lina or Serene attempt to liberate the Chest's contents, or you can
leave it be (which would be something of a waste, since your inventory has
already suffered nature's ire).

OPTION 1: Have Lina attempt to cross the swamp. She'll fail this attempt, and
the Treasure Chest will vanish completely. In addition, Lina won't be very
happy to have her clothes covered with mud.

OPTION 2: Have Serene cross the swamp. She'll empty the chest with little
hassle.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Tarot x05
Input: N/A
----------

Return to the previous screen and enter the swamp.

On this screen the main attraction is a giant mushroom. Lina (it's -always-
Lina) will want to take part of this monstrosity home to use as a pillow; a
poisonous pillow. You can take a piece, if you like, though you'll be ambushed
by enemies in the process.

----------
Battle: Intoxicating Plants
Points: 2,500
Items: Slumber Ivy x05-10
----------

With Lina's attempt at claiming a new pillow in shambles, move up and then
right (you have the option of moving left, but we'll do that later). You'll
discover both the entrance to Nelde Ruins and a pair of demons.

----------
Battle: Flowery Melissa
Points: 2,000
Items: Flame Whip x05, Mage Ring x05-10, Ruby Staff x10, Slumber Ivy x05
----------

Be sure to use the Practice option to gain some experience with your new items
before you continue.

Prior to entering Nelde Ruins, inspect the stone steps leading up to the entrance.
You'll need to input a rather lengthy sequence to avoid triggering a trap.

----------
Event: Entrance Passed
Points: 2,500
Input: Down, __ Right, A, __ __ __ __ Up, __ Left, A, __ B, A
----------

If you fail at this method the entire party will take 5% damage to their MAX HP.

------------------
3-2: Tree Ruins
------------------

The only thing worth looking at in this area is the nearby Treasure Chest;
liberate its contents and move to the right.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Flamberg x40, Lightning Bow x40, Silver Rapier x40
Input: Left, Up, A, Down
       A, Up, Right, Down
       Right, Up, A, Right
----------

NOTE: You'll notice that these Treasure Chests have the nasty option of
exploding in your face when you try to open them. If this happens the entire
party will take 10% damage to their MAX HP and any items the Chest contained
will be destroyed.

In the next area you'll probably notice the demon standing in the corner. It's
asleep at the moment, which gives you a choice.

OPTION 1: Attack the beast to have it retaliate. You will have to kill the
enraged monster before moving on.

----------
Battle: Sleeping Ape
Points: 2,000
Items: Meat x03-10
----------

OPTION 2: Sneak past the slumbering oaf whilst you still have the chance.
You'll move to the next area with little fanfare.

NOTE: You -have- to interact with the sleeping demon and choose the specific
option "Let's sneak past" if you want to leave this area without a fight. If
you don't, Lina will accidentially attract its attention.

In the next area inspect the pile of rubble sitting conspicously out in the
open. You can either have Fia perform a search, or do it yourself. Keep in
mind that both options lead to different conclusions.

OPTION 1: Have Fia perform the search.

----------
Event: Thunder Onyx Acquired
Points: 2,500
Items: Thunder Onyx
----------

OPTION 2: Have Ein perform the search. You'll find another Rock; useful if you
already used your first one.

----------
Event: Rock Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Rock
----------

With that finished, move right.

------------------
3-3: Treetop Ruins
------------------

Start off by inspecting the Treasure Chest. Unfortunately, it happens to be
trapped, (failing to avoid said trap will result in everyone takng 5% damage to
their MAX HP) and will seal itself shut thereafter. If you want to claim its
contents you'll have to come back later.

----------
Input: Up, Down, Down, A
----------

Enter the next area to find a door with no knob and a giant egg. This egg may
not be the golden one you're looking for, but it's still deserving of some
attention.

OPTION 1: You can take the egg and keep it on your person for later consumption.

----------
Item Acquired: Egg x05
----------

The parent birds will violently protest to this theft, so prepare to pay the
price.

----------
Battle: Monster Bird
Points: 2,500
Items: Egg x10
----------

OPTION 2: You can have Ein split the egg in two, if you wish (though this is
understandably difficult). If you do, Ein's strength will rise.

----------
Event: Egg Cracked
Points: 2,000
Power Up: Ein; Strength +1
----------

Keep in mind that the parent bird will show up immediately after and attack you.
Ein will also take 5% damage to his MAX HP before the battle begins.

----------
Battle: Monster Bird
Points: 2,500
Items: Egg x10
----------

Whatever you do (you can even ignore the egg, but why do that?) take a look at
the supposedly impassable door when you've finished. After inspecting it twice
to no avail, another Trigger will appear.

Examine the newly discovered feather to open up another route. Tread carefully
over the branches to reach the next screen. After the crossing you will be
prompty ambushed by angry veliocrapters. You won't have the option of killing
them though, as they quickly shove you off the branch and watch you plummet to
the next area.

------------------
3-4: Pelga Nests
------------------

The first thing you'll be treated to after the rough landing is a look at your
latest companion, Cierra. She's a witch who happens to be both very powerful
and very clumsy. Regardless, you'll find yourself falling once again, this time
you'll land back at the beginning of the stage.

------------------
3-1: Wiese Forest
------------------

NOTE: If you deflated the giant mushroom in this area before, all but Serene
will take 15% damage to their MAX HP. Don't worry about it though, you'll have
the option of healing yourself shortly.

After landing quickly get your bearings and move left. You'll find another
mushroom in this area, add it to your growing collection.

----------
Event: Unknown Mushroom Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Mushroom
----------

NOTE: If you happen to have the Mushroom Book on you, the results shall be
slightly different.

----------
Event: Powershroom Acquired!
Points: 2,500
Items: Powershroom
----------

NOTE: As an alternative, you could have Ein consume the mushroom to gain a small
power boost. You'll have to forfeit obtaining that Bonus/Battle Item though.

----------
Power Up: Ein; MAX HP +5, Strength +1
----------

Next, inspect the large flower nearby. It isn't as dangerous as it looks, so
take a peek inside to benefit from its healing scent.

----------
Power Up: Party; MAX HP +100%, Magic +1
----------

After all is said and done, move right twice to enter the infamous Forest of
Seasons. The entire thing is one giant maze, and there are a few items to pick
up as well. Firstly, before you do -anyting- else:

1. Move Up
2. Move Down
3. Move Up
4. Move Down

You will arrive at a screen with an open Treasure Chest, inspect it to discover
a curious little doll. I recommend holding on to this Event Item for now.

----------
Item Acquired: Aran Doll
----------

Now move in the directions indicated below.

1. Move Right
2. Move Down
3. Move Up
4. Move Down

You will once again arrive at a screen with a Treasure Chest. Open it to find a
Battle Item.

----------
Item Acquired: Ice Crest x15
----------

Now, do as instructed:

1. Move Up
2. Move Down
3. Move Right
4. Move Up
5. Move Left

Then, do the following:

1. Move Left
2. Move Down
3. Move Up
4. Move Down
5. Move Right

You will find yourself back at Nelde Ruins.

----------
Event: Escaped the Lost Forest
Points: 20,000
----------

After fighting a few Practice Battles with Cierra, move right.

------------------
3-2: Tree Ruins
------------------

Upon entering the ruins move right to meet an old foe, Melissa. She's returned
with some new friends, so cut them down to size.

----------
Battle: Melissa Again
Points: 2,500
Items: Iron Bowgun x10, Ruby Staff x10
----------

Move right twice to advance to the next area.

------------------
3-3: Treetop Ruins
------------------

It's time to open that magically sealed Treasure Chest which gave you so much
trouble before. Cierra possesses the ability to remove the magic seal, allow
her to do so.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Fire Orb x15, Holy Orb x15, Ice Orb x15, Lightning Orb x15
----------

Next, inspect the thick root protruding from the floor. You won't be able to
budge the monstrosity if you try, but you'll be stronger for it (as they say,
suffering builds character). Everyone will take 5% damage to their MAX HP
during this endeavor.

----------
Power Up: Party; Strength +1
----------

Attempting to move right will reveal a group of demons that appear to be divided
amongst themselves. Waste no time in rescuing the demon from his tormentors.

----------
Battle: Bunch o' Bullies
Points: 2,000
Items: Spiked Hammer x01-05
----------

That hobgoblin you saved will return after the battle and give you a hammer,
it's an Event Item.

----------
Event: Hammer Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Hammer
----------

After returning to your original location move upwards once more. Here, inspect
the area in Look Mode and check out the Shiny Object.

----------
Event: Pendant Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Serene's Pendant
Input: Left, Up, Down, Right, A, B
----------

After recovering Serene's wayward pendant you must choose whom to give it to.
Whoever recieves the keepsake will have her affection for Ein increase.

Afterwards, move right. You'll discover an injured Harpie on the next screen.
Ergo, you have options.

OPTION 1: Attack the Harpie. This results in a battle with a lone Harpie at
half strength.

----------
Battle: Injured Harpie
Points: 2,000
Items: Harpie Plume x01
----------

OPTION 2: Spare the Harpie. If you choose this method, the Harpie will offer
you a gift. Do accept.

----------
Items: Happy Plume x10
----------

After all is said and done move left and then down to return to the main screen.
Examine the wooden door here one last time. Cierra, helpful as always, will be
able to open it for you. After she does so, be sure to enter the now unlocked
chamber.

Inside Fia will notice a glint of light originating from the floor. Upon
inspection you'll discover that the weakened floor is incapable of supporting
everyone at once. If you want to avoid another freefall, you'd better not waste
time entering the neccessary sequence (If you fail this event you will find
yourself in 3-5).

----------
Event: Collapse Avoided!
Points: 3,000
Input: __ Right, Left, Up, __ __ __ Down, __ Up, Right, __ __ __ Down
----------

Once the excitment has ended, move right to enter the next area.

------------------
3-9: Royal Tomb
------------------

Guess what you'll find here? It's that Golden Egg you need to have Soala
complete her Moon Wand. Be sure to bag this unnatural phenomenon before
dropping down to the next screen.

----------
Event: Golden Egg Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Golden Egg
----------

Drop down below to advance.

Here, you'll find a Treasue Chest amidst the remains of the deceased. If you've
no qualms about graverobbing then open the Chest. It is, of course, trapped.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Flamberg x40, Harpie Talon x40, Ogre Blade x40, Rose Whip x40
Input: A, Up, Right, Down
       Down, A, Right, Down
----------

Move to the right to discover a number of "White Things". Closer examination of
these "White Things" reveals that they are, in fact, butterflies. You have a
few options to choose from at this point.

OPTION 1: Try your hand at catching one of these little guys. He will later
help you discover an item back at Elendia.

----------
Event: White Butterflies Acquired!
Points: 3,000
Items: White Butterflies
Input: Left, Up, Left, __ Down, Right, A, Up, Right, __ Left, Right, __ A
----------

OPTION 2: You can scare off the butterflies in exchange for a Ruby Staff if you
choose to search the ground over which they hover. A useful item if you already
shattered the one Cierra joined you with.

----------
Item Acquired: Ruby Staff x50
----------

Turn your attention to the nearby statue. It really doesn't matter which option
you choose, you'll have to deal with a group of walking dead regardless.

----------
Battle: Ambitous Skeleton
Points: 3,500
Items: Rosary x15, Shield x10
----------

After defeating your opponents take a look at the book which just appeared.
Don't worry, it's a Battle Item.

----------
Item Acquired: Book of Nanai x50
----------

After you've finished, move right twice to advance to the next area.

------------------
3-5: Tree Hollow
------------------

In this room, inspect the Treasure Chest. It is not trapped.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Harpie's Talon x40, Ogre Blade x40, Rose Whip x40
----------

Next, turn your attention to the crack in the wall. Smashing it open will
reveal another route.

----------
Event: Wall Destroyed!
Points: 3,000
Input: B x08
----------

Move through the hole to reach the next screen. Once there, inspect the floor.
Regardless of which option you choose, Lina will attract the attention of a
group of demons. These Acid Jellys can and will decrease your items' indurance
so avoid using anything fragile.

----------
Battle: Sticky Crew
Points: 1,500
Items: Slime Ball x05-15
----------

Afterwards, move left to the next screen. Here, you will discover another egg.
Go ahead and pocket it, if you like.

----------
Items: Egg x05
----------

Next, inspect the tree in the distance. Lina will spot a piece of fruit hanging
from one of the branches. You now have to decide who will collect this
delicacy.

OPTION 1: Have Lina shoot the fruit down with her bow. If she suceeds, you can
claim the piece of fruit. This option will also raise Lina's affection for Ein.

----------
Event: Nice Shot
Points: 2,000
Items: Applecot x10
----------

OPTION 2: Have Serene fly up and collect the fruit. As she does so, she will be
interrupted by an angry bird. Serene will loose the piece of fruit as the enemy
attacks. In addition, she will take 5% damage to her MAX HP before the battle
begins.

----------
Battle: Perched Raptor
Points: 1,500
Items: Egg x03-10
----------

Return to the previous screen and move right. You will encounter more demons as
a result.

----------
Battle: Crawling Beasts
Points: 2,000
Items: Applecot x03, Slime Ball x10-15
----------

Once the battle is over, inspect the hanging object above you. You will soon
discover that it is a beehive. Quickly input the proper sequence to avoid being
stung by its angry inhabitants.

----------
Event: Bees Evaded!
Points: 2,500
Input: Up, Up, A, Down, B
----------

Return to the right and inspect the fallen beehive once more. You have the
option of either burning it, or taking it into your posession. I suggest the
former.

OPTION 1: Have Cierra burn the beehive to a crisp.

----------
Event: Beehive Destroyed
Points: 1,500
----------

OPTION 2: Collect the beehive as a souvenier. The result is a lackluster Battle
Item.

----------
Items: Beehive x03
----------

Afterwards, move right to advance to the next area.

-------------
3-6: Wooden Platforms
-------------

There's nothing to look at here, so move to the right once more. As you do so,
Cierra's clumsiness will overtake her.

----------
Event: Saved Cierra
Points: 2,000
Input: Right, Down, Up, A, Left, Down, B, Up
----------

On the next screen you will encounter a wyvern and his minions. If you still
have that Dragon Killer from -way- back in Chapter One, you can put it to good
use here. Even so, this is not a difficult battle.

----------
Battle: Descendants of Nelde
Points: 3,000
Items: Wyvern Wing x05
----------

Inspect the nearby branch after your battle to locate a Mana Wisp. Quickly
seize opportunity and choose a party member to collect it. Whomever you choose
will have their affection for Ein increased.

----------
Event: Found Mana Wisp!
Points: 3,000
Power Up: Party; MAX HP +10, Strength, Magic, Agility, Vitality +1
----------

Move right to advance to the next area.

-------------
2-7: Colony Remains
-------------

Inspect the Ivy here and have everyone pull on it at once. They will take 5%
damage to their MAX HP, but you will recieve an item in return.

----------
Event: Ivy Removed
Points: 1,000
Items: Slumber Ivy x25
Power Up: Party; Strength +1
Input: Down x12
----------

Move right to advance to the next screen. You will be attacked by a group of
demons upon arrival. Cut them down.

Points: 2,000
Items: Book of Nanai x10, Power Wrist x15
----------

Have Ein inspect the wyrm egg to uncover a Battle Item.

----------
Items: Harpie Plume x10
----------

Then, proceed to the next area. Once you've arrived, inspect the wyrm egg here
as well to reveal a lone enemy.

----------
Battle: Shell-Dweller
Points: 1,500
Items: Applecot x03
----------

Take a look at the Treasure Chest sitting out in the open before moving on to
the next area.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Harpie Talon x40, Ogre Blade x40, Rose Whip x40
Input: Left, Up, A, Down
----------

-------------
3-8: The Apex
-------------

There's nothing of interest here, so move right to discover a pair of demons.

----------
Battle: Air Riders
Points: 2,000
Items: Harpie Talon x15, Wyvern Wing x01
----------

Inspect the rather eye-drawing feather here and Lina will immediately take a
liking to it. Choose someone to go claim the feather, it doesn't matter who,
as Lina takes the initiative regardless.

----------
Event: Paradise Plume Acquired!
Points: 2,000
Items: Paradise Plume
----------

There is nothing else to do in this area altogether, so move two screens upwards
to confront the dungeon boss.

///////////////////////////////////////|\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Battle: The Heavenly Wyvern
Points: 8,000
Items: Tempest Bow x01

Recommended Party:
Fighting Formation
Ein
Cierra
Lina

Recommended Items:
Einherjar
Ruby Staff x20
Lightning Bow x40
Book of Nanai x50

Strategy:
You are facing a single opponent with 2,000 HP and weaknesses against lightning
and fire techniques. If you haven't burned through Cierra's Ruby Staff yet this
is a good time to use it. Otherwise, the Book of Nanai should substitute well
enough. Lina should use a Lightning Bow if you have one. Again, acceptable
substitutes include the Book of Nanai and Harpie Talon. Ein should primarily
use anything but his Diviner to attack the enemy, though Disaresta should still
be your finishing technique.

Lina and her lightning-based Over Skills should be incredibly useful here.
Don't hesitate to use them to soften up the enemy. If you find yourself getting
knocked around too much, replace the Ruby Staff with a healing item of your
choice, preferably a Potion.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\|///////////////////////////////////////

Once the battle has ended your performace will be judged accordingly and you
will automatically be returned to Elendia. Chapter Three has now ended.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elendia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move right upon your arrival to return to Lina and Fia's place. Quickly now,
before doing anything else, move to the second floor and save your game.

-------------
Bath Scene 01
-------------

Everyone is always asking how you access the two bathing scenes in this game, it
baffles the mind. Regardless, if you're interested in such eye-candy, then do
as instructed below. If not, skip down to the end of the list.

1. Speak with CoCo
2. Move Down
3. Move Left
4. Visit Undine Spring
5. Move Right

And thus, your natural curiousity towards the unknown is satiated, or somesuch.
Anyway, after you're done, visit the Crystal Caverns.

Speak with Ritz here to release any butterflies you captured in the previous
chapter, then visit Soala in the Magic Guild and offer to continue with her
experiment. She'll construct a Moon Wand for you. Afterwards, feel free to
speak with Cierra before taking a trip to Chappi's Smithy.

----------
Items: Moon Wand x50
----------

If you happened to find the Thunder Onyx back at Nelde Ruins, Chappi can use it
to create you a powerful sword. Of course, you'll need to sacrifice all your
other swords to do so.

----------
Items: Thunder Blade x50
----------

Next, visit the Pixia Residence. Inspect the shade here to uncover Molan's
hiding place, then enter the house. Speak with Mylene, and then Kyle. Tell him
you share his passion for fishing and he'll give you a fishing rod. Exit the
house and inspect the shade once more.

----------
Items: Fishing Rod
----------

You will finally uncover Molan, who will converse with her mother. Leave them
and move to the bottom screen. Here, speak with Molan and give her your Aran
Doll. Speak with Gill and he'll give you a pouch to go with your new fishing
rod.

----------
Items: Pouch
----------

Finally, return to the top screen and enter the house again. Speak with Mylene
and she will thank you for finding Molan by giving you a Battle Item.

----------
Items: Earring x25
----------

Move towards the Grove of Repose to continue your collection spree. You can
claim another Applecot here, but the real draw is on the second screen. Speak
with Reiche and he'll take a liking to the Mushrooms you collected (provided you
didn't eat any). Give them to him, and he'll give you something better.

----------
Items: Spiral Shell (Voice Collection)
----------

NOTE: If you accepted the Mushroom Book from Claude the last time you visited
Elendia, the results shall be different.

----------
Items: Magma Rock x03
----------

Visit the Elder's House, but don't enter just yet! Speak with Ladie and she
will gift you with another item.

----------
Items: Cross Lance x50
----------

Return to Lina and Fia's place to replenish your supply of Bread and to save
your game. When you are ready, return to the Elder's House and enter. The next
chapter will then begin.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 4: Sunken Wisdom
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------
4-1: Lake Cavern
-------------

The first screen bears nothing of interest, move towards the right. On the next
screen you will encounter a pair of demons. You know what to do.

----------
Battle: Squirming Slime
Points: 1,000
Items: Slime Ball x05-15
----------

Inspect the ground after the battle to discover a grasshopper. Catch it at your
leisure.

----------
Event: Grasshopper Acquired!
Points: 2,000
Items: Grasshopper
Input: Right, Right, Down, A
----------

Move right twice to access the next area. Be sure to practice with your new
items before doing so, though.

-------------
4-2: Sinking Island
-------------

Nothing of interest here, so move right to be ambushed by a pair of demons.

----------
Battle: Water Bug
Points: 1,500
Items: Spider Web x05
----------

Once the demons have fallen, inspect the rising water. You will notice a fish
swimming nearby, do your best to capture it.

----------
Event: Caught a Fish!
Points: 4,000
Items: Fish
----------

Afterwards, inspect the rocks to find... a rock. Collect it and move right to
continue onwards.

----------
Event: Rock Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Rock
----------

On the next screen inspect the Treasure Chest. As you attempt to open it,
however, you will be attacked by a snake. Dispose of it to have everyone's
affection for Ein increase.

----------
Event: Threw the Snake!
Points: 3,000
Input: Down, Down, Left, Right, A
----------

With the excitement over, return to the Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Tarot x05
----------

With the chest empty, move right to advance to the next area.

-------------
4-3: Carnea District
-------------

As of this moment, you have fifty (50) turns to escape the area before this
dungeon is flooded. Before moving anywhere, however, inspect the item floating
in the water.

----------
Event: Floating Book Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Lala Sutra
----------

Move right to continue. On the next screen, inspect the Treasure Chest first
and foremost.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Burning Sun x40, Estoc x40, Flame Whip x40
----------

Move towards the right to continue. On the next screen you will be accosted by
a group of demons. Kill them.

----------
Battle: Rotten Scoundrels
Points: 1,000
Items: Amulet x05-10, Applecot x05-10
----------

On the next screen inspect the heavy door. Immediately after, turn your
attention to the conspicuous red panel embedded in the ground. You'll have to
select one of your party members to stand on the red panel. Rose and Lina are
non-options, so that limits you to the other three.

NOTE: Leaving Serene on the panel will yield an additional result. Upon your
return, Serene will give you an item she acquired.

----------
Item Found: Black Scythe x10
----------

Afterwards, move to the right once more. In the next area you will discover a
trio of Treasure Chests. Firstly, inspect the green one.

----------
Event: Rusty Key Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Rusty Key
----------

Ignore the other two chests, they are both empty. Instead, advance to the
right. Here you will discover a lone Undine being terrorized by a group of
demons. Be the chivalrous sort and save her.

----------
Battle: Devil's Familiars
Points: 2,000
Items: Hourglass x03-10
----------

After the demons are dead and the Undine has escaped, return to the red panel
and reclaim your waiting companion. Move back to the left and climb the roofs
to the next screen.

You will discover a second group of demons upon your arrival.

----------
Battle: Barbarian King
Points: 1,500
Items: Egg x03-10, Power Wrist x03-10
----------

Now, inspect the old door and use your rusty key to gain access to the next set
of screens.

The water level is still rising, but before you race off inspect the shimmering
water nearby. Search the window and agree to have Rose leap into action. She
will return with a Mana Wisp.

----------
Event: Mana Wisp Found!
Points: 3,000
Power Up: Party; MAX HP +10, Strength, Magic, Agilty, Vitality +1
----------

Move to the right to continue. Before you can do so, however, you will be
assaulted by a trio of arrows. Input the proper sequence to avoid anything
messy.

----------
Event: Arrows Dodged!
Points: 2,500
Input: Right, Right, Down, Down
----------

The source of the disturbance was a trio of archers. Eliminate them before they
give you any more grief.

----------
Battle: Sniper Squad
Points: 1,500
Items: Arbalest x10, Elfin Bow x15
----------

Once the enemy is dead they will drop a Treasure Chest, which you will inspect
by default.

----------
Item Found: Elfin Bow x40
----------

After looting the Treasure Chest inspect the suspiciously dark room in front of
you. Everyone will end up going inside, I'll leave to your imagination the
events that might have occured thereafter. Regardless, you do locate an item
of some use.

----------
Event: Crystal Key Acquired!
Points: 1,500
Items: Crystal Key
----------

Return to the previous screen and begin climbing the stairs. Upon entering the
next screen inspect the nearby Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Burning Sun x40, Estoc x40, Flame Whip x40, Thunder Blade x40
----------

Finally, enter the crystal door to advance to the next area. Do try to keep in
mind that the water levels are still rising. Nevertheless, you first have a
demon to deal with.

----------
Battle: Silver-bell Winds
Points: 3,000
Items: Wyrm Wing x03
----------

NOTE: This enemy is similar to the Wyverns you've fought before in that it can
blow you away with Gale Wing. Do everything in your power to prevent this from
happening, as retracing your steps is a colossal waste of time.

As you leave this screen a piece of paper will blow across your path. Catch it!

----------
Event: Nice Catch!
Points: 2,000
Items: Golem Manual
Input: Up, Left, Right, Up, Right, A
----------

-------------
4-4: Colosseo
-------------

Firstly, inspect the Treasure Chest here. Afterwards, move into the Colosseo
itself.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Burning Sun x40, Estoc x40, Flame Whip x40, Thunder Blade x40
Input: Up, Down, Up, A, Up
       Right, Down, A, Up, Right
----------

Here you will immediately notice the three ropes hanging from above. Give the
rightmost rope a tug to recieve an item.

----------
Item Acquired: Banango x05
----------

Immediately after a piece of paper will float down from above. Collect it at
once.

----------
Event: Memo Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Trap Memo 1
----------

Again, after the memo is in your posession turn your attention to the rope on
the ground. Pick it up at your leisure.

----------
Event: Rope Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Rope
----------

Finally, move to the next screen. Here you will encounter the first of the
dungeon's two residents: the Blue Fool. He's an ice-based enemy with over 2,000
HP and weaknesses to fire and lightning. I heavily recommend that you use
Cierra and Lina in this battle. However, if you find yourself taking a beating,
Fia's healing abilities should be useful.

----------
Battle: The Blue Fool
Points: 3,500
Items: Blue Bomber x03
----------

Once the Blue Fool is defeated, move to the left. On the next screen
investigate the barrel sitting out in the open. Use your hammer to smash it to
pieces, and collect the contents.

----------
Item Acquired: Banango x10
----------

Afterwards, move to the right. Here, inspect the sword chained to the wall.
Upon inspection you will be confronted with options. By all means, allow Fia
to remove the curse from the blade.

----------
Item Acquired: Zantetsu x10
Input: Up, Left, Right, Up, A, B, Down
----------

Return to the previous screen and waltz up the stairs. After arriving at the
next floor you will be attacked by demons.

----------
Battle: Colossal Warriors
Points: 1,000
Items: Spiked Hammer x03-05
----------

Take a look at the lion statue converging from the nearby wall. Instruct Ein to
place his hand within the mouth of the beast to recieve a considerable power
boost.

----------
Event: Blessed!
Points: 15,000
Power Up: Ein; Strength, Magic, Agility, Vitality +3
----------

Afterwards, move to the right and smash the second barrel to recieve a battle
item.

----------
Item Acquired: Blood Fang x50
----------

Leave the Colosseo to be attacked by a group of demons. Strike them down.

----------
Battle: Carnean Bandits
Points: 2,500
Items: Crystal Lance x05
----------

Move to the right to advance to the next area.

-------------
4-5: Aura Plateaus
-------------

There is nothing of consequence here, so attempt to advance. On the way a
sign post will crash into the ground and a trap will appear. Waste no time in
stepping upon the giant "O" to deactivate the trap successfuly. Your reward is
another set of Banangos.

----------
Item Acquired: Banangos x05
----------

Before moving ahead, inspect the piece of paper that floated down from above.

----------
Event: Memo Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Trap Memo 2
----------

Upon entering the next area you will be attacked by another set of demons.

----------
Battle: White Plateau Dragon
Points: 2,000
Items: Wyvern Wing x01-05
----------

Once the battle is over inspect the bush sitting near the bottom of the screen.
Take some of the mint leaves, then turn your attention to the ground.

----------
Event: Mint Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Mint
----------

Inspect the ground and agree to take some of the white stone with you before
advancing to the next screen.

----------
Event: Mithril Acquired
Points: 2,000
Items: Mithril
----------

Here, survey the area in Look Mode and Fia will hear something scream. Inspect
the nearby window to locate the source of the problem. Remember that rock you
picked up at the beginning of this dungeon? Chuck it into the window to
disturb a bat.

----------
Event: Nice Control!
Points: 1,500
----------

Now that the bat is out in the open, you have a choice.

OPTION 1: Catch the bat to earn Lina's approval. The result a battle item.

----------
Event: Bat Acquired
Points: 3,000
Items: Mr. Bat III x05
----------

OPTION 2: Cut the bat down to make Lina miserable. The spoils are significant,
however.

----------
Event: Killed the Bat!
Points: 3,500
----------

Soon after, inspect the ground to collect your reward.

----------
Event: Bat Wings Acquired
Points: 1,000
Items: Fang Bat Wings
----------

Regardless of your choice, move to the right to advance to the next area.

-------------
4-6: St. Claremonts
-------------

Once here, the first thing you should do is inspect the nearby Treasure Chest.
After you've done that, move to the right to continue.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Burning Sun x40, Elfin Bow x40, Estoc x40, Flame Whip x40
Input: Up, Down, Up, A, Up
----------

On the next screen you are swamped with options. To begin with, move towards
the low ground. There you will find a second Undine, whose sister you should
have rescued previously. She will leave to obtain your reward, so leave the
screen and then immediately return.

NOTE: The Undine queen returns at random, apparently. So exit and reenter the
area as often as necessary.

----------
Item Acquired: Iria's Bow x50
----------

Move to the right now, and prepare to engage a group of demons.

----------
Battle: Tetythian Robbers
Points: 1,500
Items: Amulet x10-15 Power Wrist x10-15
----------

Climb the rooftops after the battle to continue your treck. On the next screen,
ignore the unreachable Treasure Chest for now and move to the right. There, you
will discover a second group of demons.

----------
Battle: Treasure Hunter Z
Points: 1,500
Items: Mithril Sword x05
----------

After the battle hop across the rooftops to a new screen. Here, lay hands on
the Treasure Chest and loot it of its contents.

----------
Event: Golden Key Acquired
Points: 1,500
Items: Golden Key
----------

Now, return to your original location (that is, one screen up, left, down, and
left) and move upwards to a new area.

Here you will be accosted by a group of demons who happen to have a golem with
them. I certainly hope you snatched that Golem's Manual back at the Carnea
District, it makes this fight much easier.

----------
Battle: Sad Golem Operators
Points: 1,500
Items: Elfin Bow x15, Salamander Rod x05
Input: Up, Down, Up, Right
----------

After ripping through the enemies, golem or otherwise, use your key on the solid
gold door. You will find that you now have access to the previously unreachable
Treasure Chest. Loot it for all it's worth.

----------
Event: Holy Grail Acquired!
Points: 3,000
Items: Holy Grail
----------

Now, trudge -all- the way back to the last screen you visited (that is, move
left, down, right, up, and right). Move one last screen to the right to
encounter a second, larger golem. I'm sure you know what to do.

----------
Input: Up, Down, Up, Right
----------

Afterwards, claim the piece of paper that floated to the ground and advance to
the next area posthaste.

----------
Event: Memo Acquired
Points: 500
Items: Trap Memo 3
----------

-------------
4-7: Mizel Bridge
-------------

The first thing you'll notice here is the Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Elfin Bow x40, Estoc x40, Flame Whip x40
Input: Up, Down, Up, A, Up
----------

Move to the right to confront the second of the two twins, the Red Sage. She,
unlike her brother, is of the fire and electric elements. I highly recommend
that you use Serene and Fia in this battle. Red Sage is tougher than her twin,
but Fia should keep you from keeling over.

----------
Battle: The Red Sage
Points: 4,000
Items: Red Viper x03
----------

After the battle you will have a choice. You can either spare the two demons,
or destroy them.

OPTION 1: Spare the two siblings. You recieve fewer points, but everyone agrees
with your decision.

----------
Event: Reformed Demons!
Points: 1,000
----------

OPTION 2: Eliminate the two demons. Few in your group will agree with this
course of action, however.

----------
Event: Judgment Passed!
Points: 3,000
----------

After the two siblings are gone, move to the right to continue your search for
the true dungeon boss.

-------------
4-8: Flaybell Cathedral
-------------

There is nothing of consequence on the first screen, so move to the next. There
you will be attacked by a group of enemies. Note that these demons are of the
elemental type, so pack the appropriate weapons.

----------
Battle: Elementalist
Points: 1,500
Items: Tarot x01-03
----------

Now that the enemies are dead, turn your attention to the nearby statue.
Inspect it twice to have the option of leaping towards it, do so at your own
risk.

-------------
4-9: Cathedral Library
-------------

There is nothing of interest (besides hilarious dialogue) on this screen or the
next, so climb up two screens to advance. Here, jump across the gap to land in
the library proper. Inspect the giant book sitting there to be confronted with
a slew of choices.

Certain pages lead to powerful spells, so keep that in mind when choosing which
page to rip out. The numbers correspond with the number of choices you are
given, number six not included (option five includes hilarious dialogue).

1. N/A
2. Ceneca Qui
3. Nost Lenne
4. N/A
5. Clene Met

----------
Event: Page Ripped
Points: 2,000
Items: Ripped Page
----------

After inspecting the book, move right to continue. There you will locate a
group of demons.

----------
Battle: Birds in a Cage
Points: 1,000
Items: Blood Fang x10, Harpie Plume x05-10
----------

After the demons are dead prepare to leap from this bookshelf to the next. It
is not a very difficult task.

----------
Input: A x08
----------

On the next sscreen you will notice an exit, but do not leave just yet. Instead
inspect the books twice here; your companions will take interest in a particular
tome. Humor them and agree to take the stray piece of paper.

----------
Event: Valdes Scripture Acquired!
Points: 3,000
Items: Valdes Scripture (High Score)
----------

Once you have liberated the Scripture, escape this gigantic library and return
to the stairway. There, move three screens to the right to enter the final
room. Be sure that your companions are up to snuff, however, you don't want to
battle the dungeon boss prematurely.

///////////////////////////////////////|\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Battle: The Fallen Angel
Points: 8,000
Items: Saint Scepter x01

Recommended Party:
Magic Formation
Ein
Fia
Lina

Recommended Items:
Einherjar
Zantetsu x10
Moon Wand x50
Iria's Bow x50

Strategy:
This boss is a pain in the neck. You are facing, as always, a single opponent
with 4,000 HP and resistances to almost everything. Truthfully, this is the
most difficult enemy you've faced yet.

In terms of party selection, the only character that you must use is Ein. As
far as everyone else is concerned they all qualify in some respect. Lina has a
great weapon, as does Serene. Fia and Cierra, on the other hand, have limited
weapons but excellent magic resistance.

In terms of item selection, the entire thing is a toss up. The enemy has
incredible Holy resistance, so that rules out anything with holy properties,
including the Einherjar and Moon Wand. Normal weapons are preferable, but you
need to base your weapon choices upon the party members you selected. Feel free
to swap characters and items until you find a winning combination.

An interesting note is that the enemy primarily attacks only front-row comrades.
This makes the Magic formation (something I'm sure you've never bothered to use)
very appealing. In addition, while Fia should use the Moon Wand to heal, don't
hesitate to swap it for the Book of Nanai if you still have it.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\|///////////////////////////////////////

Once the enemy is slain and the chapter complete, you will return to Riviera.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elendia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move right upon your arrival to return to Lina and Fia's place. Quickly now,
before doing anything else, move to the second floor and save your game.

-------------
Bath Scene 02
-------------

Everyone is always asking how you access the two bathing scenes in this game, it
baffles the mind. Regardless, if you're interested in such eye-candy, then do
as instructed below. If not, skip down to the end of the list.

1. Move Down
2. Move Left
3. Visit the Grove of Repose
4. Move Right
5. Speak with Serene
6. Move Left
7. Visit Lina and Fia's Place
8. Move Right
9. Move Up
10. Speak with Lina
11. Move Down
12. Move Left
13. Visit Undine Spring
14. Move Right
15. Beat up the Golem

Lengthy, I know, but I'm sure none of you care. Regardless, once you've had
your fun visit Chappi's Smithy.

Once there speak with Chappi a handful of times to be presented with a choice.
Either way, you get a better weapon out of it.

OPTION 1: Give Chappi all of your swords to recieve a more powerful one.

----------
Item Acquired: Mithril Sword x50
----------

OPTION 2: Give Chappi all of your rapiers to recieve a more powerful one.

----------
Item Acquired: Holy Sabre x50
----------

After acquiring your new toy, visit the Crystal Caverns. If you bothered to
release any butterflies here earlier, they will be hovering around the first
room of the cave. Examine the ground over which they hover.

----------
Item Acquired: Diamond Teardrop
----------

Next, speak with Claude a few times to have him take an interest in that page
you tore out of the book back at Tetyth. If you acquired a spell he will
translate it for you.

----------
Item Acquired: <Scroll> x03
----------

Enter the back rooms here and speak with NaNa. It seems that she needs more bat
wings, which you may happen to have on your person. Do give them to her.

NOTE: If it so happens that NaNa is not present, simply exit and re-enter the
chamber as neccesary.

----------
Power Up: Ein; MAX HP +30
----------

Finally, visit the Grove of Repose. There is, as always, an Applecot sitting on
the ground should you want for one.

----------
Item Acquired: Applecot x10
----------

Then visit the second screen here and speak with Mursya. If you have a fish on
you, she'll want it. Hand it over to recieve a Battle Item in return.

----------
Item Acquired: Cheer Bell x20
----------

You've nothing else to do here, so return to Lina and Fia's Place to replenish
your supply of bread and save your game before visiting the Elder's House.

----------
Item Acquired: Bread x10
----------

You are now headed towards Mireno Cemetery, which houses the final Accursed.
Good luck, chapter five has now begun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 5: Eternal Beings
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------
5-1: Ghost Town
-------------

You will find Fia to be of great use here, as most of the enemies are unholy.
To start with, inspect the nearby sign twice. The result will be less than
savory (Lina will have her pack stolen) but you'll get yours soon enough.

Move to the right and inspect the well, then turn your attention to the house.
Within you will locate an unlocked Treasure Chest.

----------
Treasure Chest
Items: Fire Crest x15, Holy Crest x15, Ice Crest x15, Lightning Crest x15
----------

On the next screen you will encounter your first group of demons. Keep in mind
that the skeleton is weak to Holy attacks.

----------
Battle: Soul Returner
Points: 1,500
Items: Book of Gelt x10, Cape x05-10, Shield x05-10
----------

Once the enemy is dead inspect the nearby tree. You will feel the presence of
the unseen thief again, though there's nothing you can do about it now. Once
you are ready, inspect the well and choose to descend.

----------
Eevent: Perfect Landing!
Points: 2,000
----------

-------------
5-2: Pilgrimage Way
-------------

Advance to the right once you've landed to stumble upon an opened chest. It has
already been looted by the thieves in the area, so don't bother looking.
Instead, turn your attention to the monsters that attack you.

----------
Battle: Hungry Hungry Monsters
Points: 1,500
Items: Wolf Fang x05-15
----------

Move to the right once more and take a look at the the Treasure Chest. It's
very empty, which Serene will dislike. After a small tantrum the lights in the
cave will go out (is it powered by electricity?). Leave the lights out for now
and instead retrace your steps to the left.

On the first screen you will immediately notice the glowing rocks in the middle
of the area. Inspect it, and be sure to seize it for later. Once all is said
and done, move two screens to the right once again.

----------
Event: Light Moss Acquired
Points: 2,500
Items: Light Moss
----------
