    II. Version Info

    1.0 (2/5/06)

The first version of this FAQ. Written
on Super Bowl Sunday. There will be
several blank spots, as I am currently
in Obelisk Blue, and cannot change out
for a couple of in-game months. Current
decks: Everyone in Obelisk Blue (except
    for Crowler, Fontaine, and Alexis'
lackeys), Jaden and Co., Pharoah, and
    Yugi. Complete: Pharoah.

    1.1 (2/6/06)

    Added decks for Banner, Bastian,
Crowler, and Fontaine. Also added some
    duelist unlock requirements. Added the
Banned Cards section, for a lowdown of
the ban list for first and second year.
Updated Alexis' deck a bit. Updated the
contact info a bit, as well.

    1.2 (2/9/06)

Added decks for Blair, Gerard, Brier,
    Beaugard, Satyr, and Dmitri. Fixed
decks for Jaden, Bastian, Chumley, and
Zane. Fixed a formatting error. Put my
new Decking deck in, and updated the
    Closing accordingly.

    1.3 (2/15/06)

    Added Japanese names for everyone!
Added more Fusion cards for Jaden.
Fixed Manjyome's blurb. Added quite a
few people to the Closing section.
    Redid my contact criteria.

    1.4 (3/10/06)

    Ima, Hinamatsuri (Rough translation:
Now, it's Girl's Day! Even if that was
    on March 3rd. . .) However, I am sick
(again), which means that I get to
    update this guide. Added Jasmine's
deck, and what I could of Mindy's deck
and the test proctor's deck. Also added
    the good Chancellor's deck. Updated
Torrey, Damon, Syrus, and Chazz's decks
(should be complete). Also fixed the
table of contents (...). Fixed my own
deck list. I'll restart eventually, and
    get a few more decks I'm missing. . .

    =====

III. Introduction - READ ME FIRST

With all the formalities out of the way,
welcome! I wrote this FAQ in response
to the countless topics on the Yu-Gi-Oh!
GX: Duel Academy message board asking
for so-and-so's deck. While this guide
may not be absolutely complete yet, I
think that the info here will answer
    most people's questions about their
favorite character. I am always welcome
to suggestion; see my contact info at
    the end of this FAQ.

When the ban list changes, the deck
    lists will reflect that change.

I may occasionally forget myself, and
use "Magic" instead of "Spell". They're
    the same thing.

I will refer to the 1900 Luster Dragon
as the Sapphire Dragon, and the 2400
Luster Dragon as the Emerald Dragon
(which are their proper Japanese names).
Do not expect a reply if you e-mail me
    about this "error".

Certain cards will have (.....) next to
them. This is my way of marking the
Random Card in a Deck. Keep reading. .
    .its meaning will become clear.

The Japanese names with two names listed
are in last name, first name format.
This is done because someone's name got
    mangled bad.

This FAQ was written in Courier 10. For

figure out if the font alignment is
    correct.

    Monster 1-4

    =====

    IV. Format Info

I will explain how the deck lists are
constructed. I will use a part of
Chazz's deck as an example here.

    Chazz/Manjoume (Manjyome) Jun

Deck type: Zombies, more or less

    (blurb goes here)

    Trap
    ----
    Robbin' Zombie x2

    Monster 1-4
    -----------
    Master Kyonshee x3

    Monster 5-6
    -----------
    Giga Gagagigo x2
    Legendary Fiend

To translate, Chazz has two Robbin'
Zombie, three Master Kyonshee, two Giga
Gagagigo, and one Legendary Fiend cards
in his deck. All cards will be listed
    alphabetically; I will separate the
monsters by level. If a particular
category does not appear within a deck
(in this case, Moster 7+), I will omit
    it. Less typing for me.

The next section is the "Generic Cards"
section. These cards are in everyone's
deck, and will change according to the
year's ban list. These cards WILL NOT
appear in anyone else's deck list, with
the exception of Yugi (his deck defies
    the ban list).

    =====

    V. Generic Cards

These are cards that seem to appear in
everyone's deck. This list conforms up
to the third year ban list.

    Spell
    -----
    Card Destruction
    Graceful Charity
Heavy Storm / Harpie's Feather Duster
Pot of Greed / Dark Hole / Raigeki AND
    Pot of Greed (3rd year)
    Premature Burial / Monster Reborn
Snatch Steal / Change of Heart

    Trap
    ----
    Call of the Haunted
    Magic Cylinder
    Magic Jammer x2
    Mirror Force
Seven Tools of the Bandit x2
    Torrential Tribute

    Monster 5-6
    -----------
    Jinzo

    Total: 15 or 16

Certain characters may be missing either
section within their deck list. This is
because their Spell or Trap cards belong
    in the generic section ONLY.

    Fusion Monsters will be listed
separately. I usually don't let my
opponents fuse, though, so I'll be
taking an educated guess on most of
    them.

I've still got a ways to go, but I
suspect that there is a set of three or
so cards that should be in this section,
but isn't. Those three cards should be
dorm-dependent. This is still in the
theory stage; it's going to take a LONG
time before I figure out what's going
    on. . .

    =====

    VI. Banned Cards, by year

    VII. Character decks

This is the section you've all been
waiting for! I list character names by
    English/Japanese name. This is because
I think some of the Japanese names are
WAY cooler than the English names that
were given. In one case, the
translators messed up entirely. . .

    *****

    a. Alexis/Tenjoin Asuka

Deck type: Fairy Beatdown, complete with
    Sanctuary in the Sky

The first character in this FAQ happens
to be one of the few females in this
game. To duel her, your rank must be
higher than Apprentice Duelist. To get
her mail address, visit the front of the
Girl's Dorm at night. Be prepared for
    three consecutive duels!

Missing: 2 or so (most likely Mystic
    Horseman and Trap Hole)

Note: That additional Magic Jammer and
Seven Tools of the Bandit means that
he's got three of each in his deck.

    c. Bastion/Misawa Daichi

Deck type: Look ma, I'm gonna be a
geologist! (Rocks, in both type and
    name)

The computer geek of the series uses a
most bewildering deck. Shame on him.
Being the ultra-geek, he just HAD to
have a little girl in his deck (note to
readers: No offense to geeks or fans of
    Bastian and/or Pikeru). . .

To get her to show up, stay in Slifer

    g. Chazz/Manjoume (Manjyome) Jun

Before I begin, the name after the slash
is the "official" spelling of his name.
The name in parenthesis is how I prefer
to spell his name (it doesn't look quite
    as. . .wimpy).

Deck type: Zombies, more or less

Chazz will duel you once your rank is
    above Apprentice Duelist. He'll give
you his address once he rejoins Duel
Academy. Lastly, you'll want to be out
of Obelisk Blue if you'd like him to
leave. . .it will happen, eventually. .
    .

MANJYOME THUNDER! Seems I screwed up my
    explanation. I'll let LazerWulf explain
    it.

    'While, technically, "Manjoume-san da"
does mean "I am Manjoume," you're
forgetting the context of how he uses
it. When someone calls him just
    "Manjoume" without the "-san" honorific,
he gets mad and says "Manjoume-san da!"
    meaning, basically, "That's Manjoume-
SAN, to you!" Basically, he doesn't like
it when people don't use his honorific.
This also explains why he uses '-san'
when refering to himself. This first
happened in episode 2, in Manjoume and
    Judai's first duel, and used
    intermittently throughout the first 24
episodes. It's not until episode 25 that
he officially gets the name "Sanda",
    although it was probably first
misinterpreted by the North School as
"Sanda" in 24 when he first said his
    now-famous "Ichi! (1) Jyuu! (10) Hyaku!
    (100) Sen! (1000) Manjoume-san da! (Man=
    10000)"'

This explains the reason why the
audience says "The Thunder!" during your
    interschool duel with Chazz.

(anyone that dares to mention that awful
cheer by the dubbed version will be
forced to duel with a deck composed of
    nothing but Bite Shoes)

    *****

    y. Sheppard/Ibiki

Deck type: I'd like to say Kaiba-ish,
    but. . .

The first time you duel him, it's to
make your "King of Games" rank
    "official". Any subsequent time you
duel and win, you get to change your
    name. Unfortunately, this has no
    bearing on the Obelisk Blue dorms;
according to the game, Maria is a boy's
name (this is NOT my real name). I
would have LOVED to be the only girl in
the boy's dorm, if I were about seven
years younger than I am now. . .

OMG IT'S TEH BSOD GLITCH!! Of course,
he never uses it. . .

(I will NOT answer any e-mails with the
words "Burst Stream of Destruction" in
them, unless it's part of someone's
    deck, and I missed it)

VIII. How did I get all of this?

I had to use a special deck in order to
get the deck lists I have. If anyone is
    curious. . .

    Spell
    -----
    Book of Moon x2
    Book of Taiyou x3

    Cathedral of Nobles x2
    Confiscate / Pot of Greed
    Giant Trunade x3

    Trap
    ----
    Corpse of Yata-Garasu x3
    Good Goblin Housekeeping x2
    Jar of Greed x3
    Reckless Greed
    Reversal of Graves
    Torrential Tribute

    Monster 1-4
    -----------
    Cyber Jar
    Magician of Faith x2
    Mask of Darkness x2
    Morphing Jar
    Sangan
Witch of the Black Forest / Morphing Jar
    #2

The point is to draw until I've got the
Reversal of Graves and Confiscation in
my hands. Then I furiously write down
    whatever's in my opponent's Graveyard,
use Reversal of Graves, Trunade if
needed, then Confiscate (and write down
    whatever's in the opponent's hand). I
then write down whatever's on the field,
then whatever's in the new Graveyard.
    That gets all the cards.

Since Confiscation has been banned, I
use Morphing Jar AFTER using Reversal of
Graves to find out what was in my
    opponent's hand.

BIG kudos to louisng114 for posting
something VERY similar to this Deck on
the message boards. The deck mentioned
above is HEAVILY based off of that
posted Deck (read: +/- 8 cards).

    XI. Closing/Contact Info

What? You made it all the way down
    here? Congratulations!

    Before I give my e-mail. . .I'll respond
    to the following only:

    - Guide praises/constructive criticisms
(if it sucks, tell me why!)
    - Deck lists for Titan ONLY (I just hit
    King of Games)
    - Any missing cards, if the missing
cards have a definite number, or are
listed as "a few" (or something to that
effect. I will go and verify this, just
to make sure that the computer isn't
doing what I think it's doing)
    - NICE ASCII art for the front of this
FAQ, for I am a horrible artist.

Everything else will be ignored. If it
has an attachment, I will most likely
delete it before opening it. If I feel
it is malicious, I will block you.

Anyway. . .if you want to reach me,
email me at cherriebomber AT gmail DOT
    com.

    A closing isn't complete without
    credits, so. . .

Kazuki Takahashi - For making this
    series
Konami - For making this game, and
    putting in several different Konami
jokes within the game (I counted three)
The many, many people on the GameFAQs
message board - For prodding me into
    making this guide
louisng114 - For posting an awesome deck
to use on the computer opponents to get
    the contents of their decks.
LazerWulf - For giving me Blair, Damon,
Dmitri, and Gerard's Japanese names, for
correcting me on Manjyome Thunder, and
    for having a semi-intellectual
discussion on why Manjyome is such a
miserable person. . .and for pointing
out several stupid errors on my part.
Felix van Veen and StarJake - for
informing me that Jaden keeps a F.G.D.
and a Shining Flare Wingman in his
    Fusion deck.
    Me - Because I can.

    Alright, that's it. THE END!
