     1. About this guide
    =====================

This game is eons old. It was brought out a couple of years ago now.
Still, I've decided to write up an FAQ/Walkthrough about it because there
are only two readable ones on the site, neither completed. I've started
playing the 'emulated' version, which is identical to the gameboy version
except it runs alot faster. This, as seen by the title, is the American
version of the game, which is unusual for me because I only normally do
British games. Still, this is for Gameboy Colour, so don't bother sending
me e-mails about how to play the Playstation version. As I have said in
previous guides, I will NOT ACCEPT PLAYSTATION HELP ETC. and anyone asking
how to do it will be ignored. If you persist in bothering me then I will
block you permenantly! You have been warned!
As I said, I am playing the emulator version, on the extremely good
VisualBoy Advance. If you are DESPERATELY stuck, I will accept it and may
play out that part of the game for you. For all those who are just lazy
and could breeze the game, your file will be removed and immediately
blocked from my e-mail. This also applies if you send any unwanted
    attachments or viruses!

NOTE - When sending an emulator file, please PLEASE make a copy of it to
keep on your computer in case the e-mail gets lost etc. I will not
be held responsible if your file gets lost or is damaged.

     - Battle System
    -----------------

The battle system here is similar to Final Fantasy 10. You take it
in turns to go, where you can cast a spell, use a card, use an item or
run away. There are numerous spells each with certain strengths and
weaknesses, similar to the Final Fantasy elements. Here is an example of
    your average battle field...

Spell - Cast a magic spell. These are your only way of doing damage (unless
you want to waste cards). These all use MP except Flipendo, your
            first spell.
Card - You can combine Witches and Wizards cards found to make stunning
effects such as full heal, protect and other things. Warning,
            some cards are bad.
Item - Pretty easy really. Use an item out of your stash. Once it's used
though, you can't get it back. These are generally items to heal
            you.
Flee - For all you cowards out there. If you're low on health, you can
use this command to run away. Sometimes this will fail. Just cross
your fingers and hope it works.

Stamina Points - This is your life guage, if this runs out, you collapse
and start again in the infirmary.
Magic Points - This is required to cast spells. When this runs out, you
have to stick to lil' old Flipendo Uno.

     4. Walkthrough
    ================

    ---------------------------------
     - Buy your wand at Ollivander's
    ---------------------------------

Journey up until you find a shop with a wand on the sign. Go inside to
talk to Hagrid and obtain your wand. That's that mission out of the way.

    -----------------------------------
     - Find Hagrid in Gringott's Lobby
    -----------------------------------

Head out of Ollivander's. You'll bump into someone who is willing to offer
you a free deck of cards. Each has it's own special set of commands...

    Justus Pilliwickle - Protection deck
Merwyn the Malicious - Musical deck
Gregory the Smarty - Quiddich deck
    Gulliver Pokeby - Beneficial deck

Head towards the big white building to your right. Inside you'll find
Hagrid and Griphook who are waiting to take you to your vault.

    ------------------------
     - Find Hagrid in Vault
    ------------------------

Follow the paths in an up-left direction. Look in the hidey holes for
Wizard cards and fight a couple of battles to reach level 5-10.
In the next area, there is a boss, your first of the game, which makes
life hell for you. Hopefully, if you trained enough, you should have a
Duo level spell (which are obtained by casting the Uno spell a certain
    number of times).

    BOSS FIGHT

    Giant Rat (80HP)
    Small Rat x2 (30HP)

Kill off the giant rat first using Vermillious, then concentrate on the
two smaller rats on each side. If you get low on health, don't be afraid
to use an item, that's what they're for. When you win, you may pick up a
pair of Hardened Boots. If you do, well done, if not, try again, they're
well worth the hassle. Head up some more until you see Hagrid. Talk to
    him to finish the mssion.

    ---------------------------------------
     - Buy school supplies in Diagon Alley
    ---------------------------------------

Leave Gringott's behind and head outside. Now, go around each of the shops
buying just the essential shown on the list. When you are done and if you
have any money left over, then you can buy some sweets etc.
When you've cleaned yourself out, go back and talk to Hagrid to recieve
your own, Hedwig. He'll now tell you how to get to Hogwart's by train.

    --------------------------------
     - Get on the Hogwart's Express
    --------------------------------

Head up the ramp and to the family of four who are standing on the other
side. Talk to one of the twins, and you'll be able to board.

    ----------------------------------------
     - Find a seat on the Hogwart's Express
    ----------------------------------------

Head left as far as you can go and talk to the boy sitting on his own.
Here you'll be greeted by a girl asking about a toad. She'll also teach
you Verdimillious Uno. The sweet trolley will come along, and after you've
finished buying whatever you want, talk to Ron.
Now what? A trio of troublers come along to steal your sweets. Here you
have to fight one of them...

    BOSS FIGHT

    Malfoy (100HP)

Fight him off using Flipendo. He's not hard, so just kick him HARD. If
you've not trained, you may have to use a couple of potions to heal up
during battle. He'll give you a *cough* useless *cough* card combo which
powers up your enemies during battle.
After finishing him, go around and talk to some other people besides Ron,
and then get off the train.

    ---------------------------------------
     - Cross the lake at Hogwart's Landing
    ---------------------------------------

Walk down the jetty to board a boat. To cross the lake, steer the boats
left and right while avoiding the monsters. If you touch one, you'll be
thrown into a fight with it. They are tough, but offer good experience.
After crossing, land on the beach to finish the mission.

    --------------------------------------
     - Get through the Hogwart's dungeons
    --------------------------------------

Head in a left kinda direct until you reach the first set of stairs.
From here, make a u-turn and go all the way round until you see Hagrid
again. Go up the stairs to encounter a boss fight.

    BOSS FIGHT

    Old Knight (50HP)

You should now be at level 10-15 with at least one level two spell. Cast
any spell at him to scare him away. Pretty easy if you ask me.
Head up the stairs for a final time to reach the entrance hall where
    your Sorting lies.

    ---------------------------
     - Get sorted into a house
    ---------------------------

Go left into the Great Hall, and wander up to the top where you see a
line of people. The Hat will now sing a song, and you'll be sorted into
where... you guessed it, Gryffindor! Head down to the table in the bottom
    right and talk to Hermione.

    -------------------
     - Find Gryffindor
    -------------------

Here you'll get aquainted with Peeves. He'll be a nuisance and saunter off.
Head up as high as you can go, until you reach the Fat Lady picture. Talk
to her to finish the quest.

    ----------------------------
     - Find Gryffindor Password
    ----------------------------

Head down one floor, and look for a floating blue figure. This is Nearly
Headless Nick. He'll ask you to find him a tie to wear to stop his head
falling off. If you bring him one he'll give you the password. Head to the
first floor again and talk to the two gargoyles to get a tie. Go back and
give it to Nick to get the password. Head back up to the Fat Lady and give
her the password. Go inside and go down to get to your room. Go to sleep
    to finish the mission.

    ------------------------
     - Get to Potions Class
    ------------------------

Easy enough mission. Go all the way down the stairs until you get to the
bottom floor. Move left and go through the door next to the staircase.
Welcome to the dungeons. Here, go left again into the Potions classroom.
Talk to Snape and watch as Neville's cauldron EXPLODES!!!

    ------------------------------
     - Find ingredients for Snape
    ------------------------------

I'll just list where to find the ingredients and just go get them.

    Beetle's Eyes - around Hagrid's Cabin
Snake Fangs - Fight a snake and you may win them afterwards
Boomslang Skin - In Snapes office, check out the snake painting

Give the ingredients back to Snape. He'll reward you six house points for
finding them but deduct one for being slow. He'll also give you the class
    list.

    ------------------------
     - Find your next class
    ------------------------

The class list will be in this order... Transfiguration
                                            Charms
                                            Defence Against the Dark Arts
                                            History of Magic
                                            Herbology
                                            Broom Flight

Head to the second floor to find your Transfiguarations class. It is the
first room on the left. You'll meet Ron, Hermione and Professor McGonagall
here. She tells you that if you can catch a purple rabbit, she'll teach
    you a new spell.

    -----------------------------
     - Capture the purple rabbit
    -----------------------------

Go outside and you'll see Dumbledore. Head to the grounds, outside the
castle. Directly to the left of the castle wall is a little purple thing,
it's a rabbit. Pick it up and take it back to Professor McGonagall to be
    taught Incendio Uno.

    -----------------
     - Get to Charms
    -----------------

Go up to the second floor and head right up the corridor. Enter the middle
door. This is Charms. Talk to the little guy perched on top of the books
to begin the lesson. This mini-game is fairly easy. Flitwick does some
moves with his wand, and you have to copy them. If he presses up then down,
you have to press up then down in the same order. I can't tell you what
the buttons are because they cahnge every time. If you do it well, you
get twenty-five house points and the Wingardium Leviosa spell.

    ----------------------------------------------
     - Get to Defence Against the Dark Arts class
    ----------------------------------------------

Head up to the next floor and enter the door above you. You'll see Peeves.
He'll cast Curse of the Bogies on you. This is similar to poison as it
will sap your HP every step you take. Go inside and talk to Quirrel, and
then get ready to chase Peeves down.

    -----------------------------------
     - Find a way to remove your curse
    -----------------------------------

Head straight across the corridor to the opposite room. Go down the spiral
stairs and go south until you see a women at a counter. Talk to her to
find out that the counter-curse was checked out long ago and not returned.
Go outside to see Peeves again. Go up to the sixth floor and into one of
the clasrooms where Peeves will be hiding. Walk up to the TV and press A.
You'll be transported to another room. Get ready for another boss fight.
Be sure to save first though.

    BOSS FIGHT

    Troll (130HP)

Keep casting Vermillious at him. When he flees, make sure you get the
Bastion Belt from him. This mega-belt raises almost all of your stats.

If you have over 80MP now, use the Curse Book to learn Mucus ad
Neaseum. This is Curse of the Bogies. It will sap 20HP from the enemy
every time they take a turn. No evade, always damages, period.
Take the book back to the library to receive twenty-five more house
points. Go ack to class to finish the puzzle. You'll receive ten more
    house points.

    ---------------------------
     - Get to History of Magic
    ---------------------------

Head up another floor and go into the top classroom on the left. Talk
to the ghost who is asleep here. Talk to Neville then, and watch things
unfold. Outside you'll meet Hagrid. Talk to him and he'll take you to
    Diagon Alley.

    -----------------------
     - Find the Circe Card
    -----------------------

Outside Gringott's you'll find the man your after. He'll give you
his vault key. Inside Gringott's, there are more powerful enemies which
offer good training. Try to get a good Tria spell here for the coming
    fight.

    BOSS FIGHT

    Giant Rat (200HP)
    Small Rat x2 (40HP)

Take out the Giant Rat first as he does the mst damage. Use Flipendo
Duo/Tria to wipe them all out easily.

    --------------------------------------
     - Get back to History of Magic Class
    --------------------------------------

Go back outside and talk to Hagrid. When you get back to Hogwarts, talk to
Binns to receive the Circe card.

    --------------------
     - Get to Herbology
    --------------------

Go nack outside to the Greenhouses. Talk to Professor Sprout to receive
your mission. You have to gather six herbs por a potion. The herbs are...

Asphodel Root - The tufty plant just below the plant patch
Dried Nettles - The plantpot nearest the door in the greenhouse
Dittany - The bushy plant on the right of the main path
Wormwood - The tuft of grass just below Hagrid's Cabin
Mandrake Root - In the tufts of grass to the right of Hagrid's Cabin
Aconite - The bushy plant below the Quiddith Stadium

Go back to Sprout after finding them. She'll send you to Snape to get two
    free potion recipes.

    -----------------------
     - Get to Broom Flight
    -----------------------

Go outside to the Quiddith stadium. You'll see Neville and Madam Hooch.
Neville will then break his wrist and have to go. Malfoy will steal his
Remembrall. Another mini-game will ensue. Catch Malfoy on your broom while
evading tufts of leaves. When you win, you'll recive his ball and be
dismissed. In the Great Hall, Malfoy will challenge you to a duel with
Crabbe as his second. Hermione will overhear and tell you off.

    ---------------------------
     - Escape the trophy room
    ---------------------------

Go to the forth floor while avoiding teachers. Getting caught will result
in a house point fine. Go inside the room at the bottom of the hall and
have a look around. You'll then be caught by Filch. Go into the next room
and out the door. You'll see Snape and Quirrel having a 'private' talk.
After seeing the massive dog, run back to the top floor and go back to
    bed.

    --------------------------------
     - Save Hermione from the Troll
    --------------------------------

Talk to the girl across the hall to enitiate a small sequence. On the
second floor, you'll find a troll, and Hermione. Go into the girls toilets
    to fight the boss.

    BOSS FIGHT

    Troll (500HP)

It seems alot, but this guy isn't that hard to beat. Use a couple of good
card combinations to good effects. Protect and Delect work well here, so
does immunity and improved magic. If you learned Curse of the Bogies, use
that too, as well as Locomotor Wibbly which can be learned by looking in
the non-restricted area of the library.

You'll lose five house points because of Hermione's stupid idea, but gain
    ten for killing the troll.

    ----------------------
     - Go to Hagrid's Hut
    ----------------------

Go to Hagrid's Hut to find out more about the Sorcerer's Stone. You'll
learn there is a Nicholas Flamel involved too.

    ----------------------------
     - Find the Hidden Packages
    ----------------------------

After Peeves steals you're Christmas gifts, you'll have to find them again.
He's hidden them on the sixth floor. Go to the first room on the right
which leads to a hidden passage. Go down it and open the treasure chest to
find your gifts. You'll be caught and you'll be deducted house points from
the hourglass (on Christmas day! That women is a cow!) Go back to your
    room to open your presents.
