Keitai Denjuu Telefang: Power Version
Review by EvilDeadTrap
"A beautiful game, but tainted by the wrath of Diamond&Jade."
As it has been said before, this game is incredibly under-rated.
Keitai Denjuu Telefang (Mobile Electric Monsters Telefang) is a delightful, creative game created by the now defunct Smilesoft. It's reputation has been hindered due to the poor hacks of this wonderful game, which are known as Pokemon Diamond (Power version) and Pokemon Jade (Speed version) created by a Chinese bootlegger.
Okay, let's get on with the review!
Gameplay 9/10--
The gameplay is good, almost perfect in fact, as this is a creature collecting RPG. The controls are decent, basic Gameboy Colour controls. The menu is nicely designed, taking the image as a D-Shot (a kind of cellphone that you can call the electric monsters with, and vice versa). It's quite simple, and nice. The only flaw is the battle screen, which is a bit clunky!
Story 10/10--
With a creature collecting RPG, a story is a must. This game packs it all, and has a great story which is perfect for this kind of game!
The game is set in 2020, and in this year it is now possible to travel to another world, the "electric creatures world" using a special cellular device - and you can make friends and talk to these creatures! We play as Shigeki (also known as the dreaded Mr. Bek) who ends up in the world by accident! He makes companions, and wants to search out this world, make friends - and help the electric creatures!
Difficulty Level (1 being easy, 10 being impossible!) 5/10--
The game is not too hard, and not too easy! The AI is similar to that of Pokemon games, though at the beginning it is a little too easy!
Graphics 10/10--
For a GBC game, these graphics astonish me! They are far more superior to the Pokemon games, and are beautifully coloured and drawn! The creatures, sprites are all wonderful. What's also a good thing, is that you can choose the creature of your choice to follow you around (similar to the Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow!)
Sound 5/10--
The only downfall of the game. The sound is quite average, the same quality as you'd find in GB/GBC games.
Replayability 9/10--
There are many creatures to be made friends with, to train, and many quests that will keep you busy!
Product 9/10
A very nice, good-hearted game. It's unlike Pokemon, in a good way, because you can make friends with the monsters, call them, and they can call you - so it seems more personal to the game.
It got a nine, due to the sound -- sound is a very important aspect to some people, but if you're not so bothered about the sound, you have nothing to worry about! Sadly, the game is only very good if you know Japanese, and if you are playing an original Japanese version -- because the fake versions (Diamond&Jade) are simply awful versions, and will harm your thought on this wonderful game that has come upon us!
