"Extreme crashes"

Extreme Sports with the Berenstain Bears is a game intended to be played on the Gameboy Color.

This game is supposedly a game involving extreme sports with the Berenstain Bears. Unfortunately, it isn't all that extreme.

This game features Toboggan, Sled, Kayak, Raft, Dirt board and bike for extreme sports. They all have the same objective: To race down a field as fast as you can as you dodge obstacles. Not only do they possess the same objective, they all play like the same thing. The only difference in the sports are the graphical changes and that only two involve in at least 4 people in the sport, which doesn't change the gameplay at all.

But does it play well to compensate the lack of variety? I dare say not, as for starters, the controls are somewhat buggy and sluggish, which is bad when you're during sharp turns. Furthermore, to even reach the top 3 is quite the task, as it seems the game was intended to be played only by experts, despite the theme of the game. While you can do stunts to stop the time temporarily, it just isn't enough to win.

You have two modes, which are time trial and championship. Championship mode is merely 4 fixed sports as either Brother or Sister bear, which are merely a palette swap.

Speaking of terms in graphics, even for a Game Boy Color game, the bears look atrociously awful. The landscape of the gameplay itself is presentable, albeit way too plain to be cared for. The music isn't all that great, either, as in gameplay, there's only fanfares should you pull a trick or crash.

To finish the game may not take much time. Even though it has 3 difficulties, you will have trouble even with the easiest difficulty. Also, since there's little to no variety in the sports and it plays painfully slow, you will get bored of it in just a few minutes.

To wrap it up, this game is poorly made under their kids brand in order to even get some sort of glimpse of hope to get cash out of it--which I doubt they did, considering how bad it is.
