"17 Years Later..."

Sonic the Hedgehog was released 17 long years ago for the Sega Genesis gaming system, and still is an epic, enjoyable game that gamers drool over whenever they wipe off the dusty cartridge and jam it into the somewhat-broken Genesis system. So let's jump right in and get to the point. Tis game rocks even after 17 years and is still one of the greatest games ever made!!!

Gameplay: 10/10

The gameplay is simple- run around the level at higher speeds than a Ferrari collecting golden rings while popping robots to reveal poor, trapped animals that were stuck inside by the evil Dr. Robotnik. It is amazingly easy to control and is such a simple yet wonderful idea that Sonic has gone down in history. We are all fascinated by Sonic's supersonic speed and by the multitude of animals that the evil Doctor had the guts to make robots out of, that we all feel attached to Sonic and feel the urge to defeat Dr. Robotnik right by his side! This gameplay is addictive and an amazing accomplishment in the history of gaming, no, the history of the world! If you have never played this game before, try it! You will experience an epiphany. Just be careful, you only have 3 lives! You can, of course, get more lives and even continues, but there are many dangerous obstacles (such as the amazingly creative spikes) to harm the hedgehog. Each time you get impaled on a sharp object, Sonic loses all of his rings!!! He can, of course, then run around panicking while picking up the flying rings, but if he gets impaled while having no rings, he loses a life! Watch out!!! The obstacles vary so much in variety and are just so amazing that the game is addictive! The levels each bring their own flavor to the game and as a whole, the world of Sonic is one tasty meal, like a chicken pot pie with the bread, meat, and all the veggies included!

Graphics: 10/10

Ok, now, you have to admit it. The graphics are AMAZING! From the lush green hills with amazingly straight lines making the grass to blobby seaweed hanging from the ceiling, the graphics are the veggies in the chicken pot pie. Without them, the pie was be too meaty without decent health benefits. For 17 years, no game has been able to top Sonic in terms of graphical beauty. Each world is amazingly drawn, like a picture from a 2 year old's coloring book after spilling an assortment of fruit juices all over it. You will be in awe when you see the lava, in shock when you see the rocks. Everything is crystal clear and amazing. Once again, no game has ever topped the incredible, awe-inspiring graphics from this timeless classic.

Sound: 10/10

The music is obviously the creamy pie filling. Every song from every world and every accomplishment fits the situation perfectly and is music to your ears! The music from Green Hill Zone is even in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! It is obviously a classic. The music is full of fun and drama and will make you want more! Open your ears, take off your headphones, throw out your earmuffs, and take in all the creamy musical notes that this game shoots out. If the sound still works, of course.

Plot: 10/10

The plot, is AMAZING! This game has got to have one of the best plots of any game any gamer has ever plotted! Plot the best points of this game, and you've got the plot right on the tip of any plotted chart. I mean, it's so original! The evil Dr. Robotnik has captured the good animals of the world and turned them into robots! It's heart-breaking!!! It makes you want to grab Dr. Robotnik, smack him in the face a couple times, then cook him into a pot pie! You'll be on Sonic's side in no time, guiding him through the brilliant levels, crying with glee each and every time you free a precious animal! It's making me tear up at the mere thought. Incredible plot!

Controls: 10/10

There's not too much detail to go into here, but the controls are perfect! Press one of three buttons to jump and use the control pad to move! Careful, the only way you can defeat the robots and free the happy animals is by jumping onto the baddies! If Sonic runs into them, he'll be impaled and lose all his rings!

Difficulty: 10/10

At first, the game may seem easy. Perhaps too easy. But you'll soon find out that Robotnik has been saving the hardest zones for last! Zones 1-3 help you ease into the game and warm up your fingers, then world 4-6 will come right in and blast you, testing your supersonic skills! It's the perfect blend of ease with difficulty, rest with hurry, work with play. The difficulty of this game will relax all players, then test their skill, showing who the REAL supersonic animal-savers are!

Replay Value: 11/10

I've got to give this one an 11/10. Why? Because you'll want to replay it OVER and OVER and OVER AGAIN!!!!!!! I'm replaying it even though it came out 17 years ago!!! This game will not only capture your attention the first time but the next, the next, the next, the next, and EVEN the next time!!! You will be purely addicted to Sonic. The worlds are so vast that you have no hope of exploring the entire thing on your first try; it takes many many plays to get everything out of the world, and to, of course, save EVERY last precious creature.

Overall: 10/10

This is THE perfect game / pie. All the parts of the game are perfect and come together to make, well, a PERFECT game!!! You will never, EVER lose interest in the adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Precious Animals Who Got Captured by Dr. Robotnik!!! Like they always say, "Gotta save 'em all, Sonic the Hedgehog!" This game is purely addictive. And you can probably get the game for very cheap, it's AMAZING!!! I don't see why anyone would ever want to give this one up. This is simply the most brilliant game I have ever played. This beats all the games for the Wii, all games for Xbox 360, every game for PS3, the only thing it loses to is Mario Kart N64, Super Mario 64, and Banjo-Kazooie! But this game is still amazing!
