"A great game, in the castlevania tradition"
One of the most famous series' in video gamedom is the Castlevania series. Konami has released Castlevania games on almost all console systems, so it was just a matter of time before they released it on the Genesis.
Bloodlines controls exactly like every other Castlevania game. You walk and use your weapon to kill zombies and other evil creatures, and you hit candles to give you weapons and hearts used as ammuntion to the weapons. You can collect a cross boomerang, an ax, a knife, a stopwatch and more. One innovation that this game brought to Castlevania is that you could choose to be one of two different heros. You could be a traditional Belmont whip slinger, or you could be a guy who used a spear. However, it's just not that different from other Castlevania games, but it's nice to see this game on the Genesis.
The graphics are similar to other Castlevania games, but it's much darker than the Snes versions. You'll see blood in this game, which was a new thing to the Castlevania series, but it's not that big of a difference. The sound is average at best, nothing new here.
The game is good, especially if you're a fan of Castlevania games. If you are, then this game is right up your alley. Of course, it's no Symphany of the night, but it's still fun. For Genesis owners, this is the only Castlevania, so it will have to do. It's worth taking a look at.
