"Good Game, Improvement over the Original"
Bubsy returns to the Genesis in this 1994 release. He's ready to save the world from the evil Oinker P. Hamm. Although it's a vast improvement over the original game, Bubsy II still lacks that something special to take it over the top.
Like the original game, you run, jump and float through long side-view type levels. The levels are more cplex in the sequel, and there's usual multiple ways to get through them. You get new cool weapons too, like a Nerf Cannon. There's three new mini-games, as well.
Bubsy II's controls are quite better than the original game. Bubsy looks more nimble, and he jumps more accurately. The graphics and sound are nothing to write home about but they're not horrible. The on-screen characters are smaller than in the original game and less detailed. The sound effects are quite entertaining, as are Bubsy's facial expressions. You even get to hear short voice clips this time around.
Bubsy II's real weakness is that it's way too easy. Bubsy sports three levels of health, and an amazing nine lives. With easy levels and easy bosses, you won't have much trouble with this one.
Still, Bubsy II is worth a look if you ever enjoyed playing the original game. It's not Sonic, but it's not bad either. Worth a look.
