"A must have for Any Superman Fan"

I didn't really know what to expect when I first played this game. Anyone who has played a few Superman games for any system know that it is a 50/50 chance that you will get either a Really Good Game or Bottom of the gaming Barrel. Thank god this game is one of the best the Superman label has ever seen.

Graphics:The graphics were the first thing to surprise me with this title. This game looks and plays much like The Streets of Rage series. Enemies and Hero's are pretty well done. Especially Doomsday and Superman. The levels are very well done, they almost pull you into the game more. Even when you are in flight the game runs very smooth without any real choppiness at all. A few of the level bosses could have used some work though. The graphics really do this game a lot of justice.
Final Graphics Score: 8.5

Fun Factor/Story Line:If you are a fan of the Superman Comic books you will love how well the followed the storyline of Superman's demise and resurrection. The only real drawback I can see in the fun factor is the repetitive battle system. Some times it seems like the baddies just aren't going to quit. Some of them are tough too. The Punks on the Harleys are a real pain. They are hard to knock off even with flying capabilities. You use multiple characters through out the game. Super Man himself, The Cyborg Superman, The Last Son of Krypton, Super Boy, and the Man of Steel are all playable characters within the game. The bosses will give you a good challenge in this one. Especially the the last level boss.
Final Fun Factor/Story Line Score: 9.0

Sound:This game isn't too bad in the sound department at all. The in game music is alright. It doesn't get on your nerves like many other genesis titles do. The sounds in battle are at the par at best. They aren't terrible, but I've personally heard much better. Doomsday laughs at you on occasion, mostly when he is whipping your tail all over the screen. Adds a nice effect to the whole scene.
Final Sound Score: 7.5

Replay: I think any Superman fan would be inclined to sit down and give this title a few sessions. It is fun to go through and see how much further you can make it. It has a lot of challenge, especially in the boss department. Some of the bosses require you to stay in flight most of the time. Going toe to toe with some of these guys could prove fatal. Practicing technique is the only way to beat this game. Well, unless you have a game genie laying around.
Final Replay Score: 7.2

Features:Since this is an Arcade type game I will take it easy on the features. This game gives you the very basic, Start Game and Option. Options really aren't anything special. Nothing you can really do except test out the game music and change your controls a little. Since this type of game doesn't call for many features, I will be easy. A password or continue game would have been a little better.
Final Features Score: 6.0

Overall:Excellent Title. The story line fits the comic books perfectly. There was a lot of attention to detail in this game. The character models look smooth and well put together. The game presents a very appropriate level of difficulty. It's not the hardest game you will ever play, but it's not a walk in the park either. This game will keep you playing for a while to come.
Overall Score: 7.64
