"Du-Di-Dah!!!"

Ristar has got to be one of the best games for sega genesis ever, maybe even better than sonic...read on to find out why this cute little star earned a 10.

STORY 9/10
Well the story didn't live up to all my expectations, but at least I could understand it. Its about an evil force taking over all the leaders of all the worlds. The people tried to summon a hero, but his son Ristar answered and that's when he come into play. So basically all you have to do is defeat the bosses of all the worlds and peace will be restored. Good job sega, a story that is easy to follow.

GRAPHICS 10/10
Very nice! The graphics of Ristar look like something a playstation would produce. I don't know how they did it, but it looks better than many other games for sega. The backgrounds were very colorful and blended in with the foreground. All this done on a 16-bit system. Not something easy to do, good job sega.

MUSIC 10/10
Very addictive! The music for Ristar is the best I've heard in a while. Every time I play this game I'm always humming the tunes to the songs and I find myself listening to the songs at the music test. The songs seem to fit each level and provide added quality to the game. I especially liked the song for the music planet Du-Di-Dah! They should of made a soundtrack for this game.

CONTROL 10/10
The controls were nice. Although I had to switch the grab to jump at the options section everything else was nice. No glitches or mess ups occurred during the game.

GAME PLAY 10/10
Well done! The game play for Ristar is unmatched. The way he attacks his enemies is like no other. While the others have guns, swords, or spin dashes. Ristar grabs them, then when you let go of the attack button...WHAM! He head butts them senseless. At first this game may look kinda of childish, but be aware. The bosses require alot of strategy to beat too. Like on planet Scorch when you have to kill the monsters in the order that they come out and timing when to throw pies in the mouth of the frost monster . This game is actually much harder than it looks. It may take you all your continues to beat it on normal at first, but what is a game without difficulty? There is also a mini-treasure side quest that you can go on to receive special bonuses at the end.

REPLAY VALUE 10/10
You'll want to replay this game to get all the secret treasures because I assure you that you won't get them all the first time you play.

OVERALL 10/10
To sum up Ristar is a game that should of been more recognized for how good its was. Although it may not be as famous as Sonic 1 or 2 it is way better.

Well I bet your wondering if this game is a buy or rent. Well I don't think you can rent sega games from any video store or if you can buy it from a used store, but if you happen to find a copy I assure you get your money's worth and then some.
