"Everyone's Favorite Hedgehog Goes 3-D"

Sonic 3-D Blast is another twist in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It’s in 3-D graphics as the title implies. You run around jumping on robots saving the flickies. Doesn’t sound like much? Well it is. Read on about it.

Graphics- This game is 3-D on a 16-bit system. You don’t see that often. The sprites look good but Sonic looks fat in the special stages. the levels and enemies look nice and the boss ships look nicely done and even better when the
ships crack up. 10/10

Animations- The running and jumping looks perfect and all the enemies move around and do things instead of just stand in one place. The flickies wings flap perfectly. 10/10

Sound- The music is SUPERB!! The stage music fit the levels and the boss music sounded evil. Some of the music was copied from other Sonic games like
the extra-life music was from Sonic and Knuckles. The sound FX were nice as the Flickies tweet sounded like a real bird. 10/10

Difficulty- This game is HARD!!! Once you get past Spring Stadium, things start getting tricky. The bosses get harder and harder at Diamond Dust and managing through the level gets difficult also at Diamond Dust. 8/10

Secrets- This game has a few secrets like a stage select like in all the other Sonic games. There are also many in-game secrets because you can break through a lot of walls. But one thing most Sonic games don’t have is a stage
skip. 9/10

Gameplay- A real challenge, has lots of secrets and getting to the ending is really at treat because then the game really shows it’s 3-D graphics. A different idea of a Sonic game which is a good idea. 9/10

Replay Value- This game doesn’t have much to offer here because it’s so hard but if you want to beat you’ll have to play again. 8/10

The Bottom Line- This game is real cool and I wouldn’t mind if there was a sequel. I give it a 9.
