+---- INTRODUCTION -------------------------------------------------- [1.00] -+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Welcome to my 8th walkthrough and the first to use my new layout system. If
you like how this file is set out (or if you don't!), feel free to send me an
email and let me know! Any feedback will definitely help me improve my guides
in the future and I'd really appreciate it.

Right! Now that that's out of the way, let's get to the game! Superbrothers:
Sword & Sworcery was originally released for the iPad, but luckily for those of
us who don't own one, it's now available on Steam too! This guide is
specifically catered to the PC release, but I'm sure it will be helpful for you
iOS users too.

Just a brief note before beginning: SB:S&S is a highly unusual game. The
controls are not explained outright and getting started can be quite difficult.
Once you get going, however, there is a beautiful and intiguing world to
explore. I hope this guide can help you when you get stuck so you can
appreciate the game all the more.

So, with that out of the way, let's get to it!

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
+---- GAME BASICS --------------------------------------------------- [2.00] -+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

As I mentioned in the introduction, Sword & Sworcery is an uncoventional game
in pacing, plot and controls. Hopefully this section will give you a bit of an
idea of what to expect and give you a bit of advice on where to get started.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ STORY AND CHARACTERS ~ | [2.01] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

If you're the sort of gamer who likes unsolved mysteries and plot intepretation
then you will love everything Sword & Sworcery has to offer.

-----------------------
| THE SCYTHIAN |
-----------------------
The hero of the game.

The Scythian is on a woeful journey in search of the Golden Trigon. It is her
purpose to tame each of the three pieces, obtain the Megatome, and put a stop
to an acnient evil.

-----------------------
| THE ARCHETYPE |
-----------------------
The enigma.

A strange and mysterious man who narrates your quest and seems to guide you on
your way. His thoughts can be accessed in the Megatome, though they offer
little insight in to who he might be.

-----------------------
| DOGFELLA |
-----------------------
The faithful companion.

Dog is the companion of the Scythian. He accompanies the hero throughout most
of the game and proves to be useful on a number of occasions. It's unclear
whether he belongs to the Scythian or Logfella.

-----------------------
| LOGFELLA |
-----------------------
The disinterested lumberjack.

Logfella is one of the first characters you encounter and, though often cares
little about your adventure, does aid you in a couple of key moments. Pun not
intended.

-----------------------
| GIRL |
-----------------------
The mysterious young woman.

The only other reappearing sentient (well, living sentient) character of the
game is a young girl who lives in the hut with Logfella. She often provides
interesting insight into situations, but still remains somewhat of a mystery.

-----------------------
| BOOR |
-----------------------
The dancing bear.

Boor serves as both a friend and adversary on two separate occasions. If you
happen to spot him in your dream, then follow him.

-----------------------
| VARIOUS GHOSTS |
-----------------------
Those who came before you.

At many different times in the game you will encounter a number of ghosts. A
couple provide useful information whilst others are completely useless.

o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Though they may be simple once you have them figured out, the strange control
system can be rather daunting at first. Take a quick look below for an in-depth
rundown.

The interface resembles that of a point and click adventure. When standing
still, click on the dim white triangle in the top right corner to access
your inventory and click on an item to use it.

| ~ MEGATOME ~ | [2.03] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

The Megatome is acquired early on in the game and is an important item
throughout your adventure. By accessing your inventory through the triangle
in the top right corner of the screen, you can access the tome. Inside are
thoughts, tips and secrets that cannot be found anywhere else.

The primary purpose of the tome is that of a mindreader. It allows you to see
the inner thoughts and feelings of various people (even the dog!) even when
you aren't nearby them. Many of these tips grant insight into various aspects
of the game or offer certain tips.

Additionally, in the centre of the tome is a countdown to the next Dark or
Bright Moon. Quite handy if you're waiting for a specific phase. More on that
in the next subsection.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ LUNAR CYCLE ~ | [2.04] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

By the time you get midway into the game, the importance of the current lunar
cycle will become apparent. Unfortunately, the game uses a real life lunar
cycle to present the phase of the moon in the game. As you actually require
certain phases to complete certain tasks, this means you may be forced to wait
many in-game days before you can progress.

However, you can locate a secret key that gives you access to the Moon Grotto,
where changing the moon to whatever phase you want is a simple task. This key
is located in the dream world during a non-full moon. More on that in the
walkthrough.

In case you need an astronomy refresher, here's how the moon cycle works:

BRIGHT MOON >>
Waning Bright Moon >> Half Bright Moon >> Crescent Bright Moon >>
DARK MOON >>
Waxing Dark Moon >> Half Dark Moon >> Crescent Dark Moon >>
BRIGHT MOON >>
     etc.

Please keep in mind that manually changing the system time on youe computer
can, in fact, change the moon phase in game. This will net you one achievement
while preventing you getting the other. I HIGHLY suggest you DO NOT cheat on
your first playthrough as that achievement is harder to get. To get the cheater
achievement, it's as simple as loading up your completed game and changing the
clock.

More on that in the achievements section of this file.

| ~ TWITTER INTEGRATION ~ | [2.05] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Throughout the game you are able to tweet your progress or dialogue spoken
by characters. You are often encouraged to do so by the Archetype, however this
has zero impact on thhe game itself. Tweeting does not alter events or unlock
anything special. In fact, I'm not entirely sure of its purpose apart from
a word-of-mouth advertising point of view.

That being said, I don't even have a Twitter account, so if you know something
I don't, feel free to email me.

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
+---- WALKTHROUGH [3.00] -----------------------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

If you're stuck on a section of the game or looking to learn a few new things,
then you've come to the right section! This walkthrough aims to be as detailed
as possible about different events in the game and the best ways to complete
them. There are some spoilers, but I omit them where possible.

The game is divided up into four 'sessions,' the meaning of which will slowly
become apparent as you play. The first and last are quite short, whilst the
two in the middle are a fair bit longer.

To help you find exactly what you're looking for, each session has a number
of subheadings within it about specific parts of the game. Scroll down to find
where you're up to!

-- A NOTE ON SAVING --
The game saves when you quit. Next time you load, you will start off on the
last screen you were on. However, any progress you made on that particular
screen will be reset. In other words, if you complete a puzzle, move on to the
next screen before quitting to make sure it is saved.

                                                            -------------------
                                                            | SESSION I |
o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE BEGINNING ~ (SESSION I) | [3.01] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

If you're just getting a screen with a lone man standing under the game's title
then click him a couple of times and wait patiently. Eventually things will
get started. After he narrates the introduction, the game really begins.

Your begin standing on a small stone pedestal, along with your dog. Double
click the left mouse button to move and head out to the right. Walk by the
field with the sheep in it and keep going off the right side of the screen.
Continue on through this next screen too by following the path right.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ MEETING LOGFELLA ~ (SESSION I) | [3.02] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

The next screen you enter has much more to see. A small log cabin sits beside
a beautiful lake. Next to the house is a man cutting wood. His name is Logfella
and he'll be your guide for this session. Speak to him by double left clicking
on him and he'll talk to you a little about the area and your task. Once he's
done, he agrees to show you the way to your destination.

Follow him off to the right and continue following the path. A screen or two
later and you'll arrive at a long stone wall locked by a door. Approach the
door alongside Logfella and he'll open it for you. Head on up the path a short
way and it's time for your first battle.

Fighting the wild beast is a simple task, but you do need decent reflexes.
Right click to engage the beast and then take note of the sword and shield
icons at the bottom of the screen. Click the one you wish to use. In this case,
the shield is not necessary. Wait until the dog crouches down: this means he
is about to strike! As soon as he does, click the sword to counterattack and
wound him. Sucessfully do this twice and the beast flees. Right click to exit
your combat stance.

If you happen to be defeated at any point in your adventure, don't sweat it.
You're plopped not far from the battle on minimum health. Healing is as simple
as eating a mushroom, which can be found scattered across the world. Look out
for small orange dots.

Once the enemy has been defeated, keep following the path right. You'll pass
by a coupel more screens and enjoy some scenery until you eventually reach
your destination at the edge of a cliff.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ MINGI TAW AND THE MEGATOME ~ (SESSION I) | [3.03] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Have a chat to Logfella if you'd like after he sits down, but then it's time
to get to work. Examine the stone towards the end of the cliff with a picture
of a sword on it. Once that's done, walk slightly to the right and stand
beneath the rainbow. Apparently Scythians hate rainbows.

Right click to draw your sword and then click and hold on the icon to keep it
aloft. If you're standing in the right spot, the rainbow will react to your
sword and a bridge will appear across the chasm. In case you hadn't noticed,
the rock formation on the right resembles a face and the bridge a tongue.
Anyway, moving on.

Walk across a bridge, through the rock tunnel, and then out the other side.
Keep heading right up the stairs, through the tunnel and, eventually, you'll
arrive at three doors inside of Mingi Taw. The left and right ones are
superfluous for now, so head straight into the centre one.

Though it may be dark inside, head straight to the central area where the light
is. See that huge, mask-wearing statue? Stand in front of it, draw your sword
and then strike to knock the book from its hands. Congratulations, you
acquired the Megatome! Before we get into that, you have a more pressing
matter to attend to.

In the process of recovering the book, you awakened an ancient evil that was
guarding it. It's out of your league at the moment, so it's time to high-tail
it. Head out the exact way you came in and keep ahead of the shadowy apparation
chasing you. Eventually, near the exit, it will automatically catch you and
you're thrust into battle against a skeleton warrior it summoned.

This battle is similar to the previous one you fought against the wild beast.
This time, however, your oppone also carries a shield. Stay on the defensive
and watch his move. If he approaches, raise your shield to defend. As soon as
he finishes an attack, strike! If you don't damage him, block his next attack
and try again. If he keeps his distance and raises his sword, get ready to
briefly click the shield item to dodge. After doing so, swing the sword to hit
him. After hitting him three times, the battle is over. Right click to
disengage from combat and keep heading for the exit.

Once you're out of Migni Taw and back across the cliff, have a chat to
Logfella. Neither of you are too keen on sticking around, so follow him back
down to his cabin where you started. Double click the door to enter, and so
ends your first session. Good work!

                                                            -------------------
                                                            | SESSION II |
o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ SWORCERY AND SYLVAN SPRITES ~ (SESSION II) | [3.04] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

At this stage, Archetype returns to chat with you again. He encourages you
to take a break before continuing, but feel free to ignore his advice as it
effects nothing.

Once the game begins again, you'll start pretty much where you left off. Head
into the hut and have a chat to a new NPC, Girl, who is simply standing around.
She, and Logfella, are rather concerned about the ominous storm brewing and
think it can be prevented by finding the Sylvan sprites and performing a
miracle. Sounds good, right?

---------------------
| SYLVAN SPRITE 1 |
---------------------
Leave the hut and, surprisingly, Archetype is standing on the river bank. Speak
to him and he will explain what sworcery is and how to use it. Complete the
brief tutorial to obtain your first Sylvan sprites. If you're having
trouble, do the following:

   a. Click and hold anywhere on screen to initiate sworcery mode.
   b. Click and hold the fish in the water and gently guide them towards the
light and bubbles in the pond.
   c. Once they're all in the middle, a spirit will appear. Click it a few
      times to capture it.

---------------------
| SYLVAN SPRITE 2 |
---------------------
With that one caught, there's a few more we still need to get. So, lets head
left first. Leave the log cabin screen and head left through the forest until
you arrive back at the field with the sheep.

Enter sworcery mode the same way as before by left clicking and holding it
until a bubble surrounds your character. The way we now obtain this sprite
is a good example of how most in the game are caught: by interacting with
various objects in the environment in the correct order. On this occasion,
it's the sheep!

Click on the sheep in order and a sprite will appear. What order, you ask?
It can only be discovered through trial and error and, in fact, there are a
few different orders that will work. Here are two I have used:

Sheep counted from left to right:
   1: 2,1,7,8,4,3,5,6
   2: 1,3,5,7,2,4,6,8

Once one correctly, the sprite will appear. Click it a few times to capture it.

---------------------
| SYLVAN SPRITE 3 |
---------------------
Go back to the screen with Logfella's cabin and then to the right to another
screen. Just near the wall is a small pagoda with those familiar bubbles
emanating from it. Engage sworcery mode and look out for three different birds
flying around it. Two actually land on it and stay quite close, while a third
flys much higher in the air. Click on all three and the sprite will appear.

If you can't quite find the third bird, look up higher while in sworcery mode.
To do so, simply move your mouse cursor up to the top of the screen and it
will automatically scroll.

| ~ DREAMS AND THE MISSING KEY ~ (SESSION II) | [3.05] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Once you have the third sprite, return to Logefella's cabin and go inside.
Have a chat to him and he'll explain he lost his door key while walking through
a dream. Sit down on the chair next to him, wait a couple of seconds, and then
click on the disc on the wall as it glows. Now you can enter the dream world!

You appear in the dream world on the top of the mountain. Though it is not
important yet, note the moon in the sky. The particular phase it is in will
play a part over the next couple of sessions and certain events only occur
during certain phases. I'll go into more detail about them in a short while.

Head south a few screens by following the stairs and the path. You have the
option to head left a couple of times, but keep heading right for now. We'll
come back left later. Depending on the moon phase, it's possible you'll see
a dancing bear hanging around. Again, don't worry about him for now. We can't
do anything with him yet.

Once you reach the ground, keep heading right across many screens until you
reach the edge of the land and only water stretches out eastward. Right at
the edge of the water look our for a small object in the sand. Double click
on the key to pick it up. At this point, a large chair will appear from
nowhere. Double click on it to sit down and wake up.

You can return to the dream world at any time and there's plenty more to
explore. Just forget it for now because we'll be back there soon enough with
other goals in mind. When we return, I'll talk about the other areas in more
detail.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ SPRITES AND RAINBOWS ~ (SESSION II) | [3.06] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Once you're awake, leave Logfella's cabin and head right back to the wall and
the locked door. Approach it and use your newly obtained key to open it. Head
up the stairs and right to the next screen.

---------------------
| SYLVAN SPRITE 4 |
---------------------
On this next screen, you should see those telltale bubbles emerging from the
ground. There's a sprite nearby!

Engage sworcery mode and zoom out as far as you can using the scroll wheel.
Start tapping all the trees from the left side of the screen across to the
right. Begin with the large ones in the front, and the go back to the beginning
and click on the back ones in the same order. Don't forget the ones right up
in the top right corner of the screen!

Sucessfully completing this rewards you with another sprite. If you get the
order wrong the bubbles of light disappear and you'll need to start over. Keep
at it!

With that done, head up the stairs and right again to return to the cliffside.

---------------------
| SYLVAN SPRITE 5 |
---------------------
Walk up to near the raibow and engage sworcery mode. This time around you
actually need to rub both (yes, there are two) rainbows to fill them with
colour. The first is obvious: the same one you used earlier in the game to
charge your sword. The second is a little harder to see further to the left
and near the stone structure. Hold down the left mouse button and rub up and
down them both.

Once you're done, a sprite will appear. Click it a few times to catch it and
you've got them all! Well, for now anyway.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE GOLDEN TRIGON ~ (SESSION II) | [3.07] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Head all the way back left to Logfella's hut. Speak to the girl to learn that
it might be a good idea to return to the field where the sheep graze. Follow
her advice and head left to find the sheep.

Once you're on the screen, activate sworcery mode and watch the sprites you
collected fly into the air. Just to be clear, you must have all five of them
for anything to happen. Once they've flown off, click on the moon.

At this point, the eyes of both rocks in the background will light up. Tap
both of them and then grab one or the other and drag them together. This
will actually pull both cliffs towards one another. Once they're joined in
front of the hoop in the background, you're done. From your new construction
the first of the triangles appear: the Golden Trigon. This is a boss fight
and can be quite trick your first time around. Approach it and right click to
begin the battle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ~ BOSS FIGHT: GOLDEN TRIGON ~ |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| The fight can be broadly broken down into three phrases. If, at any time, |
| you run out of health (see the five stars on the left side of the screen), |
| you faint and are forced to start the fight over. If this happens, find a |
| mushroom to eat to restore your health. |
| |
| |-- PHASE 1 --| |
| Wait while the Trigon floats into the air. Soon it will spit out a blue |
| ball of energy at you. Wait until the ball is almost on top of you and then |
| swing your sword. The timing can be tricky, but you'll get a feel for it |
| soon enough. Swiningly wildly tends to work too, but isn't always |
| successful. |
| This becomes a game of tennis where you must continually hit the energy |
| back to the Trigon until he gives in. At this stage he then shoots a ball |
| of red energy that moves significantly faster. Simply use the same |
| strategy. |
| |
| |-- PHASE 2 --| |
| Wait a moment while the Trigon changes form and then get ready. During this |
| phase, the Trigon shoots blasts that you must dodge. Your sword is not |
| necessary, so keep your eye on the shield icon. As soon as a ring of light |
| surrounds the icon, quickly click it to dodge the incoming attack. Continue |
| to do this until the phase is over. |
| |
| |-- PHASE 3 --| |
| Is by far the trickiest. This combines aspects of both previous phases |
| where you must hit incoming triangles with your sword to deflect them, but |
| also be prepare to tap your shield to dodge separate blast attacks. Don't |
| sweat it if you take a bit of damage getting used to it. Once you get the |
| rhythm, you'll do fine. |
| |
| After rising into the air one final time, the Trigon attacks a final time |
| so get ready to dodge one single blast! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that after defeating this Trigon your maximum health will be reduced by
one. Don't worry about it, there's nothing you can do.

After taming the Trigon you can take it as your own. This ends session II.

                                                            -------------------
                                                            | SESSION III |
o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ TRIGON GROVE ~ (SESSION III) | [3.08] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Load up the game again and get ready for another brief conversation with
Archetype. Once he's done, you can join your Scythian friend back in the game.

Logfella finds your injured body in the same place where you fought the
Trigon. Once he's done talking, leave the field and head either left or right;
it doesn't matter which. Walking too far away from the field will trigger an
event where the golden triangle above the gate in the field glows. Enter
sworcery mode and double tap the get to open it.

If you're having trouble getting that to work, leave sworcery mode and reenter
it. If it still isn't working, try double tapping the trigon icon instead.
Hopefully, one of these two things will work. Gate opening can be a bit
tempremental.

Once it is open, head on through. Ignore the massive record hanging from the
sky (yeah, I don't know either) and head through the forest to the exit at the
top. The next area is your current goal.

You'll emerge in an area key to the game: the Trigon Grove (Legend of Zelda,
anyone?). Notice that pedestal in front of you with the tiny triangles floating
out of it? Walk up to it, draw your sword by right clicking and then strike the
pedestal with your weapon. Doing so will release the Golden Trigon and pop it
in its place.

So, now what? You probably spotted the other two pedestals in the grove, which
means there are two more pieces of Trigon to collect! Look up the back of the
area and you should see a grave marked by a cross. Go up to it and double click
to have a chat to a ghost who resides there. He reveals that the other two
Trigon can be found in the world of dreams. See, I told you we'd be going back!

Leave the grove the same way you came in and go all the way back to Logfella's
hut.

| ~ PHASES OF THE MOON ~ (SESSION III) | [3.09] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Before sitting down to dream, however, open the Megatome. Look in the centre
of it and take note of what it says about the moon. If it is either a BRIGHT
or DARK MOON, then you will be able to obtain one of the Trigon pieces. If it
is not, however, then you have a few options available:

  1. Enter the dream world during a non-full moon to get the Moon Grotto key.
This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as it allows you to change the phase of the
moon as you please without cheating.
  2. Change the date on your computer's clock. This counts as CHEATING and
     will prevent you getting 100%.
  3. Actually wait the number of days the game tells you. In other words, if
it says '7 days until Bright Moon,' then play the game in a week and
     you're set

This guide assumes that you are either choosing option 1 or the moon is already
at the full Bright or Dark phases.

THE FOLLOWING THREE SECTIONS CAN BE ATTEMPTED IN ANY ORDER. PICK WHICHEVER ONE
CORRESPONDS TO YOUR CURRENT MOON PHASE.

To quickly jump to the section you need, hit Ctrl + F and search for:

BRTMN -- Bright Moon Trigon (Full Bright Moon)
DRKMN -- Dark Moon Trigon (Full Dark Moon)
MNGKY -- Moon Grotto Key (All other phases)

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ MOON GROTTO KEY ~ (SESSION III) | [MNGKY <> 3.10] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

YOU CAN ONLY ACQUIRE THE MOON GROTTO KEY DURING A NON-FULL MOON.

Actually, I have only confirmed it is possible during a waning or crescent
Bright Moon. It may be possible at other times, but I haven't tested it.

-=-=- NOTE -=-=-
If you did events in a different order and got the Dark Moon Trigon
first then you will not be abke to fight Boor or obtain the Moon Grotto key in
this playthrough.

Thanks to Barry Barker for bringing this to my attention.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Enter the dream world and walk south down the stairs. On the edge of the cliff
to the right you should spot a bear (his name(?) is Boor). If you can't see
him, the current moon phase you are in will not allow you to get the grotto
key.

Walk towards Boor and, when he sees you, will jump down and run away. Keep
following the path heading to the right. Each time you you see Boor, walk
towards him and force him to keep fleeing. Towards the end, he hides himself
amongst the bushes in the background so keep an eye out for his head and then
click on him.

Finally, you emerge at the water's edge where you first found Logfella's key in
the previous session. However, this place is no longer a dead end. Walk right
to the water's edge and the word 'BELIEVE' should pop up on a screen. Double
click on the edge where the land meets the water and the Scythian will walk
across the water to the next area!

Keep following Boor through the next two sections through the forst until
you arrive at a huge tree with an entrance. That's our destination, but a
quick note on going left or right first. Heading out to the right leads you
to a dream version of the field where you fought the Golden Trigon. Heading
left leads you to a dream version of Logfella's cabin, which you can enter and
use to wake up. We'll travel there for an optional adventure during a Dark
Moon, but for now, just enter the tree.

Inside, Boor (the dancing bear) is chilling out up some stairs. Walk up, double
click on him and it'll ask if you want to fight. Sadly, you need to say yes.
Right click to begin the battle.

Boor fights like the skeleton warriors. Block him when he attacks and then
counterattack with your own. Continue to do this until he is reduced to zero
health. At this point, you will be asked if you want to finish him off or not.
Strike once more to kill him, or right click to sheathe your sword and spare
his life. Whatever your choice you will get the key and an achievement.

Once you've decided and the battle is done, pick up the moon grotto key from
the ground. Once you have it, leave the tree and head left to find Logfella's
cabin. Enter inside to return to Side A and wake up.

Now that you have the key, you can change the moon phase whenever you like.
To find the grotto, leave the cabin area and head through the forest. Climb
up the winding staircase near the big waterfall and right onto the next screen.
Keep your eyes peeled for a path leading south near the entrance and it will
lead you to a semi-hidden door.

Head inside and walk across the underground pont. Standing in the centre will
reveal a pedestal with a moon above it. Sit down and then simply wait as the
moon quickly cycles through its phases. When it stops at the one you want,
quickly double click elsewhere to stand up and secure the moon in position.

Please note that this does not permanently keep the moon at that phase. By
quitting the game, sleeping and wakin up, or changing you system clock, the
phase will change again. In your Megatome, the moon phase is marked as a
** TIME PARADOX **.

Each time you change the moon, exiting the moon grotto will force you to an
encounter with the shadowy apparation from Migni Taw. Simply defeat on of its
skeleton warriors and you're free to go.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE BRIGHT MOON TRIGON ~ (SESSION III) | [BRTMN <> 3.11] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

YOU CAN ONLY ACQUIRE THE BRIGHT MOON TRIGON DURING A FULL BRIGHT MOON.

If it is not currently a Bright Moon, then feel free to either skip ahead and
get the Dark Moon Trigon, or go back a step and grab the moon grotto key. That
way, you can change the moon phase whenever you want!

Double check your Megatome to check it is a true Bright Moon. A waning and
full bright moon look very similar. Enter the dream world by resting at
Logfella's cabin, and then we can set out to get this Trigon piece! Just like
in session 2, we're going to need to hunt down some sprites.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON SPRITE 1 |
------------------------
Head down the stairs as usual but, instead of heading down and to the right,
keep your eyes peeled for partially hidden steps down and to the left. Once
you see them, walk on down. Head south through this area too and veer off to
the left. If you passed a stag then you know you're going to the right way.

On the next screen is a rather unespected sight. A man is sitting beneath a
stone structure and playing music. We'll come back to him in a second. For now,
spot the bubble stream that indicates a nearby sprite. Open up sworcery mode
and wait a second until the trees start glowing. Click on them following the
pattern they indicate and the sprite will appear. Grab it!

------------------------
| OPTIONAL JAM SESSION |
------------------------
This is required to get 100% for your game.

So, the music guy. He only appears during a bright moon phase (does not have to
be full, though), so now is a good time to get this done if you want 100%. Sit
down on the chair across from him and notice how two trees glow orange and
blue. Tap on them to playing musical notes however you want a few times.

Once you have, then click on the bushy leaves emerging from the trees just
above where you're sitting. Click on the arch of them all a few times and then
you can stand up and head off. There's no particular event that indicates
you're done, so feel free to leave whenever.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON SPRITE 2 |
------------------------
From the musical area, head right and then right again to come out at a screen
containg a pond and some ducks. Once you see the stream of bubbles, engage
sworcery mode and get casting!

This one works just like the very first one you did with the fish. Click and
drag the ducks to the centre of the pond where the bubbles are. All the ducks
must be in the middle at once, so you might have to grab some of them a couple
of times. Once you succeed, the sprite will appear.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON SPRITE 3 |
------------------------
Head right again to the next screen and engage sworcery mode. This is my
favourite puzzle! Remmeber good 'ole 'spot the difference?'

Take a look at the reflection in the lake and then back up at dream-reality.
You must find and click on all the differences for the sprite to appear. It
isn't very hard, but here's a quick list of the differences if you're having
trouble:

  1. Missing tree branch (top left).
  2. Extra tree (middle right).
  3. Missing bush (middle of screen, in the lake).

Once you have all three, the sprite appears.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON SPRITE 4 |
------------------------
Go right again and you'll be back at the water's edge. This one is easy. Simply
engage sworcery mode and click on the three owls in the tree branches above
you. Doing so reveals the sprite.

Once you've got it, step towards the water's edge and watch for the word
'BELIEVE' to appear. Double click right where the land meets the water and
watch as the Scythian walks out across the lake.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON SPRITE 5 |
------------------------
Head right a couple of screens and you will eventually arrive at a huge tree
with an entranceway. If you already have the moon grotto key then this will
seem very familiar.

Stand in front of the tree and engage sworcery mode. This is a frustrating
challenge without a guide, so you've come to the right place! This time, you
need to click on the trees in order, but the order is strange and there are no
clues in-game on how to do it.

+------------+
| # UPDATE # |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| In actual fact, this one is rather simple. You do not need to guess the |
| order, but rather simply pick any tree you like on one side and then click |
| on one of the same width on the other side. You can do them in any order. |
| Thanks to David Simon for emailing me about this! |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Note the six large trees (excluding the huge one in the middle) in the
foreground of the area. These are the six you must click the trunks of in
order to reveal the sprite. The following instructions count the trees from
left to right: 6,3,1,2,5,4 (start with #1).

Here's a rough diagram if you're having trouble:

| | | | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | BIG MIDDLE TREE | | | | | | |
| 6 | |3 | |1| | _ | | 2| | 5 | | 4 |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | / \ | | | | | | |

Once you're got it right, click the sprite a few times to grab it.

------------------------
| BRIGHT MOON MIRACLE |
------------------------
Once you have all five sprites, return back to the water you walked across.
As long as you have all five, crossing the water from either side will bring
you to a brand new island in the centre of the lake. Watch as the five sprites
float up into the air. Once they're done, we can begin.

Click on the moon in the sky and then its reflection in the water. Click and
then drag them together and the island will emerge further from the water. Now
that the cave entrance has appeared, walk down the stairs and head inside.

With the Bright Moon Trigon in sight, approach it by double tapping and then
right click to engage it in battle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ~ BOSS FIGHT: BRIGHT MOON TRIGON ~ |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| This fight plays out much the same as the Golden Trigon battle, but is a |
| bit more difficult. Once again there are three phases, but the Trigon is |
| far more aggressive in its second and third phases. |
| |
| |
| |
| |

Once you have the Trigon, it's time to leave the dream world. Head back to the
tree and then leave the screen to the left and enter Logfella's cabin to wake
up.

Before going on to the next task, return to the Trigon Grove, walk over to
the pedestal on the right side and hit it with your sword to place your newly
acquired Trigon.

NOTE: If you happened to get the Dark Moon Trigon first, a different series
of events will occur and you should skip the instructions above.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE DARK MOON TRIGON ~ (SESSION III) | [DRKMN <> 3.12] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

YOU CAN ONLY ACQUIRE THE DARK MOON TRIGON DURING A FULL DARK MOON.

If it is not currently a Dark Moon, then feel free to either skip ahead and get
the Bright Moon Trigon, or go back a step and grab the moon grotto key. That
way, you can change the moon phase whenever you want!

Once you've got the right moon phase, head to Logfella's cabin and sit down
to start dreaming. When you enter the dream world, just confirm that you
cannot see any part of the moon in the sky. Once you're sure, we can begin
hunting sprites.

------------------------
| DARK MOON SPRITE 1 |
------------------------
This one is on the same screen you enter the dream world. Enter sworcery mode
and take note of the three larger bushes near the stairs below you. Click
on the top left one first, then the bottom left and then the right one to
make the sprite appear. Click it a few times to capture it.

------------------------
| DARK MOON SPRITE 2 |
------------------------
Head south onto the next screen. Look for the stream of bubbles and enter
sworcery mode.

Look for the three waterfalls and then play them like you would a harp. Click
and drag over them to play all three. Pluck the left one first, then the right
one and then the bottom one to make the sprite appear.

------------------------
| DARK MOON SPRITE 3 |
------------------------
From sprite 2, look for a partially hidden path down to the left. If you've
already done the Bright Moon events, then this is the screen before the one
where you play music. Anyway, head on down that path into the forest.

Open sworcery mode and note four tall bushes that stand shorter than the trees,
but taller than the shrubs around them. Click on all four of them, in order,
from left to right and the sprite will appear.

------------------------
| DARK MOON SPRITE 4 |
------------------------
Leave the forest to the right and keep heading right for many screens until
you reach the water's edge. Look for the word 'BELIEVE' and then double click
right where the land meets the water. Doing so will allow the Scythian to
actually walk across the lake!

When you arrive on the other side, enter sworcery mode. Tap the four larger
bushes from left to right (don't forget number 3 slightly up the back) and
the sprite will emerge.

------------------------
| DARK MOON SPRITE 5 |
------------------------
Head east another screen to where there are many waterfalls. Just like before,
you need to pluck them in order. This time, however, it's significantly more
challenging.

The order is as follows:

  1. The small, top right one.
  2. The bottom right one, right down in the corner.
  3. The bottom middle one (make sure to click on the bottom part).
  4. The top middle one (connected to #3. Click near the top above the bridge).
  5. The middle middle one (sits between #3 and #4).

+------------+
| # UPDATE # |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| A simpler way to think about this is to pick the matching waterfalls, |
| starting with the thinnest ones. #1 and #2 match and then #3 and #4, then |
| finally #5 in the middle. |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

With that done correctly, click the sprite a few times to grab it.

NOTE: I had a lot of trouble with this one, but found eating a mushroom seemed
to make things work properly. So, if the order above doesn't work, eat a
mushroom, wait for red bubbles to appear, and then try again.

------------------------
| DARK MOON MIRACLE |
------------------------
Head north one screen to arrive in front of a large tree. As long as you have
all five sprites, then they will fly off into the air and you will be able
to access the Dark Moon Trigon.

Stand directly in front of the tree where the entrance is and activate sworcery
mode. Doing so will cause a huge lightning bolt to strike both you and the
tree. Once the two squares in the trees have lit up, click them both then grab
one and drag them apart. Successfully doing so will widen the entrance and
allow you to meet the Dark Moon Trigon.

+--------------+
| # iOS Note # |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| If you are following this guide for the iPad version, this works slightly |
| differently. Instead of just standing in front of the tree and using |
| sworcery, you must shake your iOS device to make lightning strike. |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Before we do that, however, there's an optional extra you may want to consider
doing. Let's take a look:

------------------------
| OPTIONAL: THE STAG |
------------------------
Not required for 100% completion.

From the giant tree, exit out to the left and you'll emerge near the dream
world version of Logfella's cabin. Don't enter the cabin or you'll wake up, but
instead, walk over to the well next to it. Either pick the mushroom on the
ground next to it or eat one of your own and watch the air glow red with
bubbles.

Wait for a couple of seconds and then double tap the well to climb in it. Not
eating the mushroom beforehand (or entering the well during a non-Dark Moon)
means you would drown and then wake up.

Wait for a few seconds as you drop down through the water in the well and you
will eventualy arrive in a new, underwater area. Walk all the way down the
stairs and keep an eye on your health, you're still underwater so it depletes
slowly. To heal yourself, double click on any of the flame altars that are
within range.

Once you read the bottom, walk right to reach the next screen. Here you will
see a large stag statue in the middle of a pedestal. Walk up to it, draw your
sword by right clicking, and then strike. Doing so will cut the statue in half
and reveal the '?' item. This can be accessed from the game's main menu. Once
you've got it, you will automatically leave the well and be back on land.

With that done, head back to the massive tree.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| ~ BOSS FIGHT: DARK MOON TRIGON ~ |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| This fight plays out much the same as the Golden Trigon battle, but is a |
| bit more difficult and this Trigon has some extra attacks up its sleeve. |
| |
| |
| The Trigon creates beams of rainbow light that move slowly towards you. |
| Once they're in range, continually swing your sword to attack and break |
| them before they hit you. They're only in range once they turn solid. |
| |
| |-- PHASE 3 --| |
| Is by far the trickiest. This combines aspects of both previous phases |
| where you must hit incoming triangles with your sword to deflect them, but |
| also be prepare to tap your shield to dodge separate blast attacks. Watch |
| out for dark triangles amongst the bright ones too. |
| This phase is the most difficult of all three Trigon battles, so don't be |
| discouraged! |
| |
| After rising into the air one final time, the Trigon attacks a final time |
| so get ready to dodge one single blast! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that after defeating this Trigon your maximum health will be reduced by
one. Don't worry about it, there's nothing you can do.

If this is the first Trigon you got then, before going on to the next task,
return to the Trigon Grove, walk over to the pedestal on the right side and
hit it with your sword to place your newly acquired Trigon.

If you already have the Bright Moon Trigon, then ignore those instructions and
keep on reading.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE CONCERT AND ASSEMBLING THE TRIGON ~ (SESSION III) | [3.13] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Once you have both the Dark Moon and Bright Moon Trigons, you will wake up
after battle on the shore of the dream world lake. Head east of the screen and
keep folowing the path until you see Boor. Follow him and he'll unlock a door
that you previously couldn't get past in the field.

Inside... is a rock concert. Yes, that's right. You can double click on various
people here to either chat with them or simply examine them. Of particular
interested is the Bright Moon musician in the middle (probably Jim Guthrie),
Boor dancing up the back, and out to the left where 'developers of this world'
sit.

Once you're done exploring, walk back to the middle of the crowd and stand
in the glowing circle. Doing so will join the three Trigon together and end
session III.

                                                            -------------------
                                                            | SESSION IV |
o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ TRIGON GROVE AND A RETURN TO MIGNI TAW ~ (SESSION IV) | [3.14] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

This time, you'll wake up outside the Trigon Grove with Logeflla by your side.
He's concerned for your welfare, but you know you must finish your woeful task
no matter the consequences.

Head in to the grove and place the final Trigon in its resting place. Just
stand in front of the remaining empty pedestal, draw your sword and then use it
to strike.

Once all three are in place, a rainbow appears at the top rocky outcrop. Head
on up there and stand beneath it. Rick click to draw your sword and hold it
high to the sky. Seconds later, and you're transported back to Migni Taw.

Be prepared, because the guardian will be back momentarily. If you've been
keeping up with the Megatome entries, you should have read a tip from the girl
that explains the guardian can be temporarily stopped by uswing sworcery on
its skull. We're going to need to do this a lot in this section.

Wait for a moment until the shadowy gaurdian appears. As soon as he does, enter
sworcery mode. Then keep tapping his skull until he freezes in place (if this
is giving you trouble, try clicking and holding the skull instead). Once he's
frozen (he turns white) then follow the ghost of the girl out the south door.

Once outside, follow her right and enter through the door. Make sure to keep
freezing the guardian when he gets close or you'll be forced to restart this
section.

In the corridor, walk up to the gate and enter sworcery mode. Freeze the
guardian first if you need to and then click and hold the Trigon symbol above
the gate to open it. Enter through. Your journey is almost at an end.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ THE WOEFUL ERRAND ~ (SESSION IV) | [3.15] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Once outside agaian, follow the path up the cliff. The guardian will continue
to persue you so stop as needed and use sworcery to freeze him in place. Once
he's stopped, keep walking.

Midway up the path, you'll encounter another wild beast to fight. Before
approaching the wolf, freeze the guardian to give yourself some space. While in
battle, however, the guardian won't get any closer to you.

Defeat the wolf just as before: by counterattacking as he leaps at you. Once
he's out of the way, continue up the path.

Soon enough you will reach the summit of Migni Taw: the final area of the game.
Look for the three pedestals in the area. You must walk up to each and hit them
with your sword to activate them. The guardian still follows you so make sure
to keep freezing him as he will keep walking while you attack each pedestal.

Once all three have been activated, head up to the central platform at the top.
Once you're beneath the rainbow, draw your sword and hold it high. If the
guardian catches you at this point, it doesn't matter. The Megatome has been
offered and the game is at an end.

Now you can sit back, watch the sad ending, and try to make sense out of the
game. ...Good luck with that.

+---- 100% COMPLETION GUIDE ----------------------------------------- [4.00] -+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

You may have noticed on the title screen a white bar down the bottom with a
number next to it. This is your total completion of the game and can range from
0% to 100%. If you reach the end and don't have 100, you have no choice but to
start over and try again. However, the game never indicates exactly what it is
that counts towards this total. As a result, this section exists to try and
help guide you on your way.

A warning, however. As I have only played through the game twice, I have not
yet been able to determine every single unique event that contributes to 100%.
I've grouped everything here by session and in chronological order, along with
whether or not I'm certain that you must do that event to get 100%. If you know
something I don't, feel free to email me.

WARNING:
If you cheat to adjust the moon phase (ie change the date or time on your
computer's clock), you CANNOT achieve 100% on your current game. 99% is the
best you can do. If you want the achievement for cheating, grab it on a
second playthrough (and see the achievement guide below).

------------------------
| EVENT TABLE |
------------------------
This table DOES NOT include events required to complete the game. It assumes
you are following the walkthrough guide above, but will restate things already
mentioned there.

If you see an event you're unfamiliar with, I cover them all in the guide so
simply jump up to the appropriate session in the walkthrough.

+---- STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS -------------------------------------------- [5.00] -+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Here you can find strategies on how to complete all the Steam achievements for
the game. Some will come naturally as you play through the game, but others are
far more cryptic to figure out. They can, excluding one, all be achieved in a
single game and, by using this guide, it's relatively easy to do so.

The two achievements not obtainable at once are: [#honest] and
[Cheating Cheater]. One requires you to not cheat and the other does. By
'cheating' it is referring to changing your computer's clock to modify the
moon phase.

If you want all the achievments as easily as possible then DO NOT CHEAT on your
main playthrough. The cheater trophy can be gotten incredibly simply after you
beat the game. If you did cheat, [#honest] requires another full playthrough.
More on that in a moment.

o==========-----------------------------------------------------==============o
| ~ ACHIEVEMENTS LIST ~ | [5.01] |
o==============-----------------------------------------------------==========o

Here is a full list of all achievements, along with how to obtain them. If
you scroll down one section further, I detail them in chronological order and
how best to obtain them all at once. If you're currently playing through the
game (or about to start) I suggest you start there.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The game is a little weird about rewarding achievements. It tends to not give
them to you when you actually do the task, but rather once you finish a session
or return to the main menu. Before quitting, just sit on the main menu for a
few seconds and the achievment should pop.

There are 14 in total.

----------------------------------
| #HONEST |
----------------------------------
Required to beat the game? NO.

-- Description --

"Complete the Scythian's woeful errand without cheating."

-- How to Obtain --

You will get either this or [CHEATER CHEATER] once you beat the game. To get
this one (and I HIGHLY recommend you get this one first), simply don't change
the date or time on your computer clock at any time while playing the game.
If you want to change the moon phase easily, get the Moon Grotto Key.

The trickiest achievement in the game. Very hard to figure out without any
help.

Enter the dream world during a full Dark Moon.

From the giant tree, exist out to the left and you'll emerge near the dream
world version of Logfella's cabin. Don't enter the cabin or you'll wake up, but
instead, walk over to the well next to it. Either pick the mushroom on the
ground next to it or eat one of your own and watch the air glow red with
bubles.

Once you read the bottom, walk left to reach the next screen.

+---- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) [6.00] --------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Stumped? Have a question about the game you just can't find an answer to? Then
hopefully this section can help you out! Here you can find some of the more
commonly asked questions about the game and their answers. If it doesn't help,
try scrolling up and looking through the walkthrough.

Q. Just started the game, how do I do anything?
A. Double click on a location to move there or interact with something. Right
click to draw your sword. See the controls section up the top for more
   info.

Q. How do I kill a logamorph (rabbit)?
A. Engage sworcery mode and click and hold on top of one. Wait a bit and it'll
   explode.

Q. How do I get the [#MOAR] achievement?
A. Just scroll up a section for a full guide on it!

Q. How do I recover health?
A. Eat any orange mushroom you find lying around. You can hold up to three at
   once.
Alternatively, if you're already in battle then hold your shield up for
about 8 seconds to recover one bit of health. (Thanks to David Simon for the
   tip!)

Q. Does killing/not killing Boor affact anything?
A. No, not as far as I can tell. Do what you like! (Be nice!)

Q. I completed an achievement, but it didn't pop up to say so. What's going on?
A. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but if the achievement doesn't
come up, simply wait 'till you're done playing and exit to the main menu.
Sit their for a second and it should come up. If not, complete your current
   session and it will.

Q. How do I change the phase of the moon?
A. Two ways: through the Moon Grotto (see the achievements guide or
walkthrough) or by changing your computer's date and time. I'd recommend the
former. You can also simply wait for real-time days to pass.
