How do I get the pot (helmet)?

I'm at the second part and need to fire my self out of the cannon but dont have the helmet what do i do?

Look in the kitchen of the Scumm Bar, it's under the table in the back of the room.

If your on the ship the pot/helmet is on the right hand side under where you got the cereal iirc
