    *The Skills section is based on my Single Player test character. None of his
    items or stats are impossible to get playing legitimately. None of his skills
    are higher than normally possible either. His Inventory is full of bugged small
    charms, but they are possible to get on the realms. I made him to have something
    to look at while writing this guide for quick reference.

    I. VERSION HISTORY
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    1.0 (3-6-06) Newly released.
    -=-=<>=-=-
    II. PURPOSE OF THE GUIDE
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'm writing this guide because I noticed on GameFAQs that there isn't a guide
    for this very common, highly versatile build. This is one of my favorite builds.
    Those of you who haven't been teaching the good common builds to the newcomers
    on Battle.net should be ashamed! Naughty children! Go stand in the corner! Just
    playing. I'm happy to write it.

    -=-=<>=-=-

    III. OVERVIEW OF A ZEALADIN
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A Zealadin is a Paladin that uses the Combat Skill Zeal as his attack. This is a
    character that can fight monsters and other players with a fair amount of ease.
    They are very strong when properly equipped. This is a common build that I feel
    all players should know how to make and put to use.
    -=-=<>=-=-
    IV. SKILLS
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Skills are easy to distribute for this character. You only need a few of them.
    For so few skills used, this character can pack a serious punch to it's targets.
    Only 87 skill points are mandatory for this build. Other points are for side
    bonuses. Let's get started.

    A. Defensive Auras
    <>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>
    Defensive Auras are not really NECESSARY but they help. They are not an absolute
    must have for this build, but a few of them help for certain things such as a
    defensive bonus, mobility, and healing. I will list the ones I feel have a good
    use to this build, even if they aren't necessary. I won't list how many points
    to put into these skills because they are entirely optional.

    ==========
    - Prayer -
    ==========
    Required Level: 1
    Prayer replenishes life gradually over time. I only use this a prerequisite to
    gain better auras in this tree, but it's up to you if you want to invest more.

    ===============
    - Resist Fire -
    ===============
    Required Level: 1
    Resist Fire is an aura that raises your Fire resistance while active. However,
    for every two points it raises your maximum resistance to fire by one point.
    A useful feature to it. The extra max resists are always active, even when the
    aura is not.

    ============
    - Defiance -
    ============
    Required Level: 6
    Defiance adds a great amount of defense while active. It also adds as much of a
    bonus to Holy Shield as a next level bonus would do for Holy Shield. You might
    consider maxing this out as a synergy to Holy Shield. For a level 99 Paladin,
    you have just enough to do it and have 3 points left over. That's with the skill
    quests done.

    ===============
    - Resist Cold -
    ===============
    Required Level: 6
    Resist Cold has the same effects as Resist Fire. Just for Cold. Good for more
    max resists.

    =============
    - Cleansing -
    =============
    Required Level: 12
    Cleansing reduces the duration of poison and curses on you. It also heals you as
    much per second as Prayer will.

    ====================
    - Resist Lightning -
    ====================
    Required Level: 12
    Resist Lightning has the same effect as the other two resist auras. Only for
    Lightning this time.

    =========
    - Vigor -
    =========
    Required Level: 18
    Vigor increases running/walking speed, stamina and stamina recovery rate. Very
    useful for getting around. Teleporting is just not good for this character.

    ==============
    - Redemption -
    ==============
    Required Level: 30
    Redemption clears bodies off the floor and gives you life and mana for each one
    that it 'redeems'. This is good if you just cleared an area and your life leech
    didn't quite heal you enough.

    B. Offensive Auras
    <>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>
    Offensive Auras help deal more damage to your enemies. We only need to put 23
    points into this tree.

    =========
    - Might -
    =========
    Required Level: 1
    Might is an aura that improves physical damage. It's great while you level up in
    Normal difficulty, but not much longer. A Zealadin puts one point here and moves
    on. Like a love em and leave em kinda thing.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    ===============
    - Blessed Aim -
    ===============
    Required Level: 12
    Blessed Aim improves Attack Rating (Abbreviated as AR from now on). It's kind of
    useless on it's own and it's a good thing we only have to put one point.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    =================
    - Concentration -
    =================
    Required Level: 18
    Many Hammerdins have deep personal feelings for this aura. It's a really good
    aura; it improves melee as well as Blessed Hammer damage. But we only need one
    point in it. Personally, I think the aura looks stupid when it's active. Graphic
    wise.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    ==============
    - Fanaticism -
    ==============
    Required Level: 30
    Fanaticism is an awesome aura all around. Looks good graphic wise, impoves melee
    damage even more than Concentration, Gives a huge AR bonus, AND gives a bonus to
    IAS (Increased Attack Speed). This is the one we need out of this tree.
    Skill Points Used: 20

    C. Combat Skills
    <>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>:<>
    Combat Skills are where the attacks come from. There are 64 skill points used in
    this tree. Any skills not used are not listed.

    =============
    - Sacrifice -
    =============
    Required Level: 1
    Sacrifice is an attack that does considerable damage, but does 8% of the damage
    to you. That makes it suck. But it's a synergy to Zeal so max it.
    Skill Points Used: 20

    =========
    - Smite -
    =========
    Required Level: 1
    Smite is a great skill for the build that uses it. For more details on that
    build, please see Kirbix's guide on the Vindicator/Smiter at GameFAQs.com.
    We only need one point on this skill.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    =============
    - Holy Bolt -
    =============
    Required Level: 6
    Holy Bolt sends a blast of light that damages undead or heals a party member.
    We only need it for a prerequisite.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    ========
    - Zeal -
    ========
    Required Level: 12
    Zeal is this builds main attack. It does 5 hits pretty fast on multiple enemies
    that are within the range of a swing. If there is only one in range, it does 5
    hits to that enemy. Max it out.
    Skill Points Used: 20

    ==========
    - Charge -
    ==========
    Required Level: 12
    Charge is an attack that rushes in on an enemy and hits really hard. Even though
    we only put one point here, it has more use than as a prerequisite. A Zealadin
    uses this to catch enemies that run away faster than he can catch up. I'll go
    into detail more on implementing this strategy in the Strategies section.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    ==================
    - Blessed Hammer -
    ==================
    Required Level: 18
    Blessed Hammer is a really powerful attack that casts an ethereal hammer to spin
    around you and crush enemies. For more details see please see Kirbix's guide on
    the Hammerdin at GameFAQs.com. We only need one point to move along here.
    Skill Points Used: 1

    ===============
    - Holy Shield -
    ===============
    Required Level: 24
    Holy Shield improves blocking chances and defense a great deal. We need all the
    blocking we can get. Some people may argue with me about maxing this skill, but
    they can friggin bite me. This skill is best maxed out. And for those who think
    this is a bad idea, I'd love to know where the points might be better spent.
    Skill Points Used: 20

    ====================
    - Skill Usage List -
    ====================
    The skills that should have 20 points are listed in the order I feel they should
    be maxed out. If you want to do it different. All I'm saying is it works for me.
    Zeal - 20 points
    Fanaticism - 20 points
    Sacrifice - 20 points
    Holy Shield - 20 points
    Smite - 1 point
    Holy Bolt - 1 point
    Blessed Hammer - 1 point
    Charge - 1 point
    Might - 1 point
    Blessed Aim - 1 point
    Concentration - 1 point
    Free Points - 23 points

    V. ATTRIBUTES
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Stats are desperately important to get right! Especially for this character.
    You will lack sufficient life if you add stats to something that doesn't
    need it. So please do this carefully.
    ============
    - Strength -
    ============
    You only need enough strength to wear your items. Using an Annihilus and a
    Hellfire Torch, you can add up to 40 Points without using points. The way I go
    about doing strength, I level up to 75 to use the Torch and Annihilus. That way,
    I gain up to 40 points in stats without using points. Then I look and see what I
    can put on after the boost. Some of it adds more strength. I put all that on til
    I can't put on anything else without using stat points. Then I add only enough
    to get the next lowest piece on til eventually I'm wearing all my stuff. This
    way leaves you more points for other more helpful stats.
    =============
    - Dexterity -
    =============
    Add only enough dexterity to have maximum blocking chances (75%) AFTER Holy
    Shield. Don't even add to this without Holy Shield on. For a level 99 character
    with a perfect Annihilus and Hellfire Torch, your BASE dexterity for max block
    should be 90. That's with a Vortex Shield though. Maybe you don't use one. That
    number may need a bit of adjustment depending on stat amounts on your charms and
    blocking amounts on your shield. Either way, make sure block is maxed and no
    more.
    ============
    - Vitality -
    ============
    ALL of the points you have left over after getting all your gear on and maxing
    your blocking go here. And that about covers it.
    ==========
    - Energy -
    ==========
    Add nothing here. Zeal takes 2 mana to use and your mana leech with your weapon
    should cover any mana loss. If not, maybe a point into Redemption would help.
    All I'm saying is that there are ways to get mana without wasting points here.
    -=-=<>=-=-
    VI. EQUIPMENT
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Equipment can make or break your character. I'll put in here what you should be
    looking for. In the Crown of Ages, place either 2 Ber Runes or 2 Ruby Jewels of
    Fervor. Those jewels have 40% Enhanced Damage and 15 IAS. If you opt not to use
    the Ravenfrost ring, put a Cham Rune in one of those sockets. I will include a
    second equipment section that will be a less expensive alternative setup. Weapon
    1 is to be used with Shield 1 and Weapon 2 goes with Shield 2.

    VII. INVENTORY
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The inventory is what gives a massive boost to a Zealer's damage, life, and his
    attack rating. There are only three different things you will need in it. I will
    list each charm in this section. You can only hold one of the Hellfire Torch and
    one of the Annihilus for those of you who don't know about that. It's one of
    Blizzard's ways of keeping us under control. The other annoying part of that is
    that they cannot be traded normally. Meaning they will not go into the Trade
    window. That forces us to drop trade these. Drop trading totally sucks. Most
    players will try to scam you into dropping something so that they can run off
    with it and keep their charm. Not making these tradeable is the worst idea that
    Blizzard ever had. I don't know what they were thinking when they thought it up.
    I think they need to drug test the employees who made it that way. So make sure
    that if you trade for either of those, that it's with someone you trust.
    Anyway, that is all I'll say on that subject. If you don't think you have enough
    Faster Hit Recovery, swap out a few of the Fine Small Charms of Vita for a few
    Small Charms of Balance. Those give 5% Faster Hit Recovery.
    VIII. MERCENARY
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I will not bother mentioning anything about the other Mercenary types in this
    FAQ. I despise the use of Rogues, IronWolves, and Barbarian Mercenaries. None of
    them actually support you aside from fighting a little bit. So I'll put in my 2
    cents about the Desert Mercenary.

    The Desert Mercenary from Act 2 is a Spear/Polearm User. There are two choices
    of Desert Mercenary that will work best here. Both are from the Nightmare
    difficulty. The Offensive one will give the Might Aura. This will boost your
    damage as well as your mercenary's. The other is the Defensive one. This one
    gives off the Holy Freeze Aura. This cuts through even immunity to chill your
    enemies. Either one is good for this build. Pride has no Enhanced Damage
    or Increased Attack Speed, but the Concentration Aura makes up for that in my
    opinion. That along with the Might Aura from the Offensive Mercenary is quite a
    bit of damage for you and your mercenary. There are two helmets that suit this
    mercenary well. The Jeweler's Bone Visage of the Whale with three Ruby Jewels of
    Fervor is by far the cheaper of the two. I'll leave the choice up to you. The
    lack of Increased Attack Speed on Pride will limit your socketing options for
    the Crown of Ages if you decide to use it. You CAN put two Ber Runes into it,
    but your mercenary's attack speed will suffer from it. I find it better to use
    Ruby Jewels of Fervor. Or you could just not use Pride and find something you
    like better. I happen to like how Pride helps me out.
