Exile II: Crystal Souls
Review by headbanger
"A game worth getting."
Basic game info:
Exile II is the second game in the Exile Trilogy. It is an RPG.
Story: 10/10
Exile II perfectly continues where Exile I left off. The Empire is angry for the assassination of Hawthorne, and wants revenge. So they start a war with Exile. Exile is outnumbered. You are hired to make a difference. The story is smooth and contains several juicy plot twists. Compared to Exile I, the story has improved very much. The story gives your party meaning and helps you understand what you are doing and why.
Graphics: 2/10
So maybe the graphics aren't that great. This game is an RPG, so the graphics don't have to be legendary.
The graphics aren't bad, considering the game is 2-D, but still.....
You can get by with these, but they won't be the thing that you remember this game for.
Sound/Music: 7/10
The sounds are pretty good. They have improved little since the first exile, though. But spells sound like spells, hacking people with swords sounds like hacking people with swords. The sounds are bearable.
This game has no music whatsoever. But since it is a computer game, just pop in a CD and listen to that while you play. Actually, this is probably better than if the game contains music.
Game Play: 9/10
Controls are extremely easy to gain the concepts of. Spell-casting is simple and attacking is very easy to pick up on. Because the game is an RPG, the controls also become easier to learn. Even if you haven't played this game, the controls are still good. This game is extremely addictive, and you won't want to stop playing for things like dinner, work, or your spouse. By playing Exile II, time will fly and you'll enjoy every minute of it.
Play Time: 9/10
It took me two months to beat Exile II, but I enjoyed every minute of it. The game is extremely addictive, so these two months seem like nothing. Also, should you get stuck, you can always get help on the Internet.
Re-playability: 9/10
After you go about one month after beating Exile II, you will have the will to play it once more. This game has many side quests to keep you busy, also. In some regards, Exile II won't end until about a year after you beat it.
Overall Score: 9/10
Well, the graphics are probably the only thing I can find wrong with this game. If you can get by the graphics all right, then I strongly advise you purchase this game. The story and the gameplay more than make up for the poor graphics. It will be worth every penny.
