Hallo:Facts

The Halloween 2009 Event was particularly funny before turning annoying with the Thriller Taunt. It was nearly impossible to do your usual taunts... Anyway, this event brought two new maps: koth_harvest_event and koth_harvest_final. Harvest Event was designed after Harvest, with a Halloween Setting: it's the night, with pumpkins and pumpkins bombs, you're sometimes throwing pumpkins with candy when dead, your medipacks are candy and... a ghost (with the Gibus) is haunting RED and BLU bases... And if you run into him, you're scared (with funny ways of running) and unable to fire or to heal...

I'm just recommending you to do them on KOTH_HARVEST_EVENT.

Minisite: http://www.teamfortress.com/pumpkinpatch/

Note: Since the Scream Fortress update (Halloween Event 2010), the map Mann Manor (cp_mann_manor_event or cp_manor_event) can be used to do all achievements from 2009 though that Harvest Event is easier for Scared Stiff.

Hallo:Achievements

CANDY CORONER

  • Objective: Collect 20 Halloween pumpkins from dead players to unlock a hat.

Well, if by now, the hat isn't available anymore to carry, when the Halloween pack was out, a lot of servers were playing 24/24 the map Harvest Event as it's the only one to provide these pumpkins.

Your goal is to kill any enemy and if you see a pumpkin being thrown out, just run into it before someone else. You can collect them also from your own teammates. That candy pumpkin is also special: you have a five second crit bonus as reward. When you have 20, the bag/mask will be unlocked. You know how to see it. Respawn and normally, it should appear.

  • How did I unlock it?

By playing on my own server (create a server) with the bots trick. It's very fun to see moving bots collecting the pumpkins instead of you *facepalm*!

COSTUME CONTEST

  • Objective: Kill a Spy disguised as your current class.

Just kill a Spy disguised as what you're playing. Just a warning though: I don't know why but it's not always being unlocked after the first kill. On some servers, it can take a lot of tries before getting it.

  • How did I unlock it?

I've joined a server with Harvest Event where a friend was and everybody was playing and achieving. I've asked... It's been done and I return the favor by being a disguised Spy.

ATTACK O'LANTERN

  • Objective: Cause the deaths of 5 players by exploding nearby pumpkin bombs.

It can be done only on Harvest Event. You'll find pumpkin bombs on the map. Just shoot them when someone is near one. Be also aware that you can be killed by the bomb by your own shot (but it's not counting for the achievement).

  • How did I unlock it?

By playing on my own server (create a server) with the bots trick.

SCARED STIFF

  • Objective: Kill a player scared by the ghost haunting KOTH Harvest.

Just kill players that are running weirdly and having blue/green ghosts around the head.

  • How did I unlock it?

By playing on my own server (create a server) with the bots trick.

GHASTLY GIBUS GRAB

  • Objective: Dominate a player wearing the Ghastly Gibus to earn your own.

10 317 players got it free. You can imagine that they passed it to their friends thanks to the achievement, the friends played on servers and... you see where I'm heading. Anyway, dominate someone wearing the Gibus for getting your own. Don't forget to respawn.

  • How did I unlock it?

I've joined a server with Harvest Event where a friend was and everybody was playing and achieving. I've asked... It's been done and when the server I'm admin of was updated, a lot of players connecting got their Gibus with my good will. I'm still letting them dominate me if they're asking me, don't worry.

SF:Facts

With the return of the Thriller taunt, that update could have been disastrous. But with new achievements, the fact that those from 2009 who were blocked during the year were now available again and that the Masked Bag could be worn again, it was just a pure win. Add a new map (Mann Manor - a CP Attack/Defense map) with the first boss ever in TF2 (a sort of ghost that kills everyone but who can be defeated) and new hats only available in the store or by crafting...

As usual, once the event is finished, what was wearable isn't anymore if marked with a restriction and what could be achieve back then is blocked a new time.

Note: Since the Scream Fortress update (Halloween Event 2010), the map Mann Manor (cp_mann_manor_event or cp_manor_event) can be used to do all achievements from 2009 though that Harvest Event is easier for Scared Stiff.

SF:Achievements

SLEEPY HOLL0WND

  • Objective: Kill the Horseless Headless Horsemann.

For it to appear, you need at least 6 players to be on the map (or was it 10?). The boss will spawn on one of the CP, generally the one being the center of the fight. Just hit him and stay alive far away from him. Don't be tagged by an enemy (or you'll have to melee one of them), don't be in the search radius (or you'll be tagged), don't even get in the way (the boss doesn't like people in his path). If you get killed, everything will be screwed and you'll have to do it again. But it's better to hit the Horsemann a little before he dies. Your reward is his head as hat.

  • How did I unlock it?

By playing on a server.

GORED!

  • Objective: Collect the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Haunted Metal.
Requirements
  • Weapons:
    • SCOUT: Bat, Holy Mackerel, Sandman
    • SOLDIER: Shovel, Pain Train, Frying Pan, Equalizer
    • PYRO: Fire Axe, Axintiguisher, Homewrecker, Powerjack
    • MEDIC: Bonesaw, Ubersaw, Vita-saw
    • HEAVY: Fists, KGB, GRU
    • DEMOMAN: Bottle, Eyelander, Pain Train, Scotsman's Skullcutter, Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker
    • ENGINEER: Wrench, Golden Wrench, Southern Hospitality, Gunslinger
    • SPY: Knife, Your Eternal Reward
    • SNIPER: Kukri, Tribalman's Shiv, Bushwacka

That purple metal is acquired once the boss dies but... well, you need to hit him at least once... with your melee weapon. Yes, you have to be near him in order to get it AND to stay alive when he dies... So once it's done, hide somewhere and remember: Don't be tagged by an enemy (or you'll have to melee one of them), don't be in the search radius (or you'll be tagged), don't even get in the way (the boss doesn't like people in his path). If you get killed, everything will be screwed and you'll have to do it again.

  • How did I unlock it?

A friend asked to join him on a private server, where the admin was spawning a lot of Silas Mann's ghostly form (well the boss if you prefer). He made him stop moving so that I could hit the guy without having the fear to be pursued.

MASKED MANN

  • Objective: Collect the Haunted Halloween Gift in Mann Manor.

For it to appear, you have to be 10 players on the map. It's appearing randomly, anywhere on the map and it's a giant wrapped gift. It's contained a mask with the face of one of the classes. Crafting the 9 results in the last achievement.

  • How did I unlock it?

With friends, you can't imagine how hard it is to get a single gift with people getting three in a row.

SACKSTON HALE

  • Objective: Craft the Saxton Hale Mask.

Get the nine masks given by the Haunted Gift and craft them for getting the ultimate mask which is NOT Halloween Restricted.

  • How did I unlock it?

With friends giving masks and then on a trade server to get all masks. Crafting is just the easiest part.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

RIFTWALKER

  • Objective: Kill an enemy within 5 seconds after teleporting

This achievement is similar to Five Second Plan for Heavy, apart that you can do it with every class, even being the Engineer in charge of the teleporter. Just use a teleporter that is near a fight and kill someone.

  • How did I unlock it?

On the achievement server, with a friend. I wasn't really thinking about being my own engineer because of a sad event in my life.

READY FOR DUTY

  • Objective: Complete each class to unlock the next.

Added with the Hatless Update from April 2011, this achievement consists as doing every training course. As simple as that unless you're not used anymore to the standard weapons...

  • How did I unlock it?

By doing the training course depiste being used to TF2 ;).

ESCAPE THE HEAT

  • Objective: Jump into a pool of refreshing water while on fire

Just be on fire and jump into water. To remind it, the best maps to do it are 2Fort and Well. If you're a Pyro with the Detonator, you can do it like that: put yourself on fire... This achievement is also tied to the Steam Summer Camp.

  • How did I unlock it?

With friends on 2Fort.

Weapon System

Before the Spy/Sniper update, you had to do milestones (or if you prefer a certain number of achievements) for getting a new weapon. Now, you just have to log on a server and to wait that the weapon is given to you... and you can get duplicates. It's totally random and it's totally boring at the end. Even if milestones are still there (appearing a week after the update), you're still having the duplicates because of a future trade system. Also, some players are carrying unique items because they've contributed it and they've been selected in the Community update.

Also, weapons can be vintage, genuine, etc..

Item quality

  • Normal = Standard weapons (not indicated in the name)
  • Unique = Weapons obtained through achievements, through crafting or through purchasing (not indicated in the name)
  • Vintage = Introduced with Mann Co update, concerning all weapons obtained before it. See the exception in the point List of items by item quality
  • Genuine = Introduced with Rift promotion, concerning all the items received with a cross-over with a game after this.
  • Strange = Introduced with the Über Update, concerning items in series 19, 20 and 21, counts the number of kills with the weapon and add a new prefixe based on it.
  • Unusual = Can be found in crates except for two Halloween items. Concerning mainly hats.
  • Community = Giving to those who are active in TF2 community, wiki, etc..
  • Self-Made = Giving to the players creating weapons that are later released as an official one
  • Valve = Only for those working at Valve
