Yu is a young adult and disciple of a wise old man named Zao. His life radically changes after the murder of his Master. From a calm and staid young farmer, Yu becomes a forceful and feared warrior, determined to avenge his master's death.

Yu begins his quest alone and must defy many enemies and avoid many dangers to accomplish his fate. His first help comes from the living spirit of his dead master. It guides him to Ngan Lin, the great and majestic City of the Emperors. There he meets a young woman named Sya who gives him information about a tyrant called T'ang Tcheou and a holy artefact known as "The Cosmic Mirror". At last Yu avenges his master in an epic fight against his ultimate enemy and is finally given the name of "Wou Ti": the Warrior Emperor.
