On one of many frequent visits to Los Angeles, Don Diego de la Vega encounters Sergeant Garcia in a local tavern. Garcia informs him of trouble brewing near the San Buena Ventura mission. News has spread that a gang of rogue Indians have been ransacking merchants traveling along El Camino Real (The King's Highway).

Instinctively knowing that all may not be as it seems, Zorro sets out to stop the mysterious bandits and to clear the reputation of the Indian people. His adventures uncover a campaign of corruption and deception at the highest levels.
