Fantasy Warrior
Review by Skye7707
"An OK game similar to Zelda."
Fantasy Warrior, hmm... Maybe you ask yourself can a game similar to the zelda series be nice and easy to play? Well this game is surely promising. People might not buy the game because it's on a mobile phone but through the years mobile games have become pretty good and well constructed. Some have broken English others have glitches but I dare to say this part of the game industry will become better as GameBoy Color games! Maybe not tomorrow but certainly in a few years.
[About the Story]
Mobile games (and certainly Action / RPG games) are very short. At most a few hours, and yet this game can last for several days. The story is very cliche but who cares about that? At the beginning of the game there is a small intro telling you that your sister has been kidnapped by some Pegasos guy. Of course (like Link) you have to find and save her before anything happens to her... Also at the end (no, no spoilers) the story does not end, but you can continue playing in the Fantasy Warrior 2 Good or Evil games.
[About the GamePlay]
Like I said, Fantasy Warrior is similar to Zelda games. The way you walk and have to do some quests to get items to do other quests to advance in gameplay. The game also has a map to help you locate several houses, dungeons and roads.
Battles are not in real time, I mean, you go "into" the fight like RPG games. There you have to run around on a field and hit the enemy with your sword, but if you see you are too weak you can always run away. Speaking of a sword, there are several "sword upgrades" in the game to power it up so enemies are way easier to defeat.
The game does not have any potions or stuff that isn't really needed, only the key items are to be found in the valley.
[About the Graphics]
The overworld looks nice, pretty detailed houses, trees and items. THe monsters however look similar and there's not too much change in cities and trees. But what can you expect of a mobile (java) game? Maybe you got another version (S60 or Symbian OS) and the graphics but note this review is based on the S40 Nokia phones.
[Overall]
The pro's
Good gameplay
Pretty long
Nice graphics
The con's
Enemies are too easy
Only a few sidequests
Dialogs
You see, there are a few things to work on for the developers but I'm sure they will resolve the problems in the new Fantasy Warrior Good (and Evil) version.
