Review by Kodos86

"Probably the most underated game ever."

Body Harvest has to be the most underrated N64 game of all time. Most people who've played it agree that it's great, but it never became a hit. On with the review.

Gameplay: 8/10 Body Harvest is one of those games that really can't be put into a category. For most of the game, you will be walking (or driving) around with different objectives to complete in a truly huge area, because of it's overhead view, it is in some ways like an adventure game. At different points in the game you will have to deal with attack waves and harvester waves that begin beaming in, at which point, the game resembles an action game. One also has to solve puzzles to progress throughout the game. One annoyance is that swimming will kill you. The main problem is that it can take a long time to get to a point to save at (sometimes a half-hour or more).

Story: 10/10 This game has an absolutely great story. In the story, gigantic alien bugs began attacking people for food in 1916. By the time the game starts, the aliens have all but eliminated the human race, and you must travel back in time to stop the aliens at key points in the invasions.

Audio: 9/10 For most of the game, the music will be one of several peaceful sounding tunes, which are OK. Once a wave of bugs beams in, though, the music changes to an awesome, fast-paced tune. The sound effects are also pretty good, especially weapon blasts and the sounds the bugs make.

Graphics: 8/10 The graphics get an 8 because of some really poor clipping, especially with the buildings. However, there are some really awesome graphics for the various bugs (especially when they go into their death throes) and vehicles.

Replay Value: 8/10 Body Harvest will probably already take you quite some time to beat the first time around. Once you've beaten it, you can go back to collect weapons crystals and artifacts from the various stages, which let you get special weapons and replay the bosses.

Buy/Rent: You should always rent a game first to se if you like it. However, you might as well buy it, since you won't be able to get much done in 5 days, considering how long the game is. You might even get lucky and find it on clearance.

Overall: 9/10 This is without a doubt, one of the best games ever made for the N64. It's a great game, and should have been far more successful then it was.
