ie8 fix

Review by axelcar

"Great Multiplayer, alright 1 player, can keep u up with 3 mates 4 a very long time."

Being the only bomberman game i played before this was on the computer i didnt know what to expect. I bought it for $60 with my 2 brothers(i live in australia), in 1998. It was my 6th game on the Nintendo 64.I looked at the box art. It looked like a fun game. It is.

Single player:6/10
The single player has some bright ideas (bomb ladders) but some of the games secrets are very hard to get(at least for me anywhere.)The main levels however, dont even challenge untill the last main world. The bosses are simple, yet they are fun fighting them. I find the only reason i play single player, is to get the custom pieces(more on that later),and to get the gold cards, which unlock secrets in the game.

Multiplayer:10/10
The only Nintendo games which better this in Multiplayer, are Mario Party and Goldeneye. Its the most fun you can have with bomb without killing real people. Team games are boring(killin crystals), yet you can team up in the battle game. You can get mindless ramdomly killing people, and backstabbing is always fun, even if uve done it 10 times. My mates and i had games such as Good Saratin(Big, dont kill people),Doctor Doctor,(get all diesieses and pass them on), the list is endless. Also you can use your custom people in the battles. Its funny watching a Bomberman with chicken wings, picked up a bomb 2 times bigger than himself, and knock the stuffing outta a fellow bomberman. Great fun.

Custom:8/10
This is quite funny. You can get lots of things for your custom Bomberman, from rocking horses, to high tops. The downfall of this, is you have to find the customs bits yourself, which can be boring and hard. But maybe im no good at this game so LOOK ELSEWHERE! nah stay here.

KEY GAME ELEMENTS:
Gameplay:7/10
The objectives of the levels change, but really its just find a switch of somesort, or make it to the end. Multiplayer is fun but, all that is, is mindless killing.(Which is fun mind you). Its alright gameplay, but gets repetitive.

Graphics:5/10
This is just average gamephics. Maybe only because its an early Nintendo game, but Goldeneyes is so much better. Bomberman looks ok, yet some characters look pale in comparison.Still, serviceable.

Sound:6/10
The Bomberman noises are silly. The score is alright, yet games like Final Fantasy 7 blow it out of the water. Could be evevator music, yet its japanisies.

Story:5/10
Quite a strange story. Theres a thing called a Omni Cube, and when a madman called Altair, and wants to destroy a peaceful planet called, creativly, Planet Bomber. So, a Bomberman, named Bomberman, helped out by a birdthing, goes to destroy the drunken madman. Altair has helpers, which are bosses, named Artemis, Orion, and Regulas. Hudson tried with the story, yet it doesnt carry out throughout the game.

Controls:7/10
Building bombs are good, I find most of the controls are good. Bomb kicks work and pumpimg bombs are fun. But the camera, and the MOVEMENT of Bomberman lets it down. The camera is just a carbon copy of Mario 64, yet its worse. The only time i find it useful, is on tight roads. The movement of Bomerman is unresponsive, but maybe its my own controller.

Lifespan:8/10
Once youve played through single player, theres not much to do, but multiplayers where its at. THIS NEVER GETS OLD WITH MATES. You could of been palying it for 3 days straight, and killing your mates with bombs is still funny.

Overall:8/10
What a great multiplayer game, yet the single player could be improved. Hudson tried with Bomberman Hero, but the pooped it up. Buy this game.(Get it second hand)

This is my second review, so please send your suggestions to me.
