Fighting Force 64
Review by DWIrvin
"Best Fighting Force ever, or Bad Decision, read on...."
This is my first review, so please bear with me.....
I remember the first day Fighting Force 2 for the Dreamcast came out. I was giddy like a little school girl getting a candy bar. I got home, popped open my DC, and was seriously busy for the weekend. I found out something inportant about this game: it's great to have a Dreamcast. Enough talk, let's get down to business....
Gameplay
This game ia an action/fighting game, so you know there are a lot of punches, kicks, and weapons involved. The general idea of the gameplay is to beat people up, find the one with the key to the door, and go through it. I'll admit, being a Fighting Force fan, I like the idea. There are dozens of combos in this game. Eventually, though, the same beat-em-up and shoot-em-up action gets to be a little repetitive, so they have little tweaks added to make it more fun. The Rage Meter. If you beat up enough people at once, you get to do combos that you normally couldn't do. This is a great idea, but still gets repetitive after awhile. All things aside, the gameplay is fun for hardcore Fighting Force players, but for some others, it will get boring, but it is still a fun game to play.
Story
The Knackamiche Corporation has a human cloning project underway. The main character, Hawk Manson, is a Si-Cop. The Si-Cops are investigating Knackamiche for this. The mission is a Black Book mission, so if you screw up, you're on your own.
Audio/Video
This game has a lot of each, but like all games, something's missing. The music. It reminds me a lot of playing Slave Zero. Other than that, everything is perfect. The graphics are superb. Especially if you have the S-Video cable. It makes you want to get into the game even more. The audio, though, needs work. The only thing that you hear is footsteps, fighting sounds, or guns. This obviously takes from the gaming experience, but the game is still playable.
Replay Value
To tell the truth, this game is fun, but after completing it a few times, you will really be tired of it.
Rent or Buy?
Honestly, if you are not a Fighting Force fan, in fact-even if you are, you should give this game a renting before you decide whether you want to buy it or not.
