This in-depth guide will cover the advanced mechanics for absolutely every
statistically possible and exploitable aspect of the festivals, including
the animal races. Everything you need to know, from how to initiate events,
which NPC(s) you may need to talk to pre-emptively to gain extra benefits,
exactly how much affection and happiness you gain from every choice involved
within the festivals.. to important events and decisions you could make
beforehand in order to accomplish the potentially best results for any and all
    of the festivals.

    Version 1.00 - May 28th, 2011
    ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

I only expect to release this document once, in terms of content as I'm very
certain I've uncovered everything right down to the programming aspect of it
all. Updates will likely be grammatical and / or spelling fixes, or otherwise
information I either discover myself, or I'm informed of and tests prove such
information to be positive and accurate.

I completed all of this work beforehand, as I'm simply not the type of guy
that likes to submit half or partially completed work, thus the only date I
really have to provide at this time is the release date to GameFAQs.

This initial release took somewhere around 72 hours of work to compose and
analyze the game while recording and organizing the information into a decently
    readable format.

    Version 1.05 - May 28th, 2011

A friend informed me of quite a humorous secret bonus scene you can encounter
during the Popuri Star Night Festival scene, if the requirements are met. I
definitely had to include that here.

                                        [Plant]

    Date: Spring 8th

Warning: Spring 7th, first thing on farm screen. If you talk to the Mayor here
    you gain (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the town square before 6:00 pm. (+5 Happiness).

    Everything is closed today.

Due to the fact that by year 1, Spring 8th you cannot have Stu or the Potion
Shop Owner's affection high enough to be chosen to fly in the balloon, Stu and
the Potion Shop Owner will always be the ones to fly on the first year.

On the second year or later, the last king of the harvest festival will ride in
the balloon. If that was not you, and the King's affection is 100 or higher
(cannot happen on year 1 as it is always Stu and Potion Shop Owner) the King
(always one of the five rivals) will choose to ride the balloon with you. If
you were the king, you can choose from 12 NPCs to ride the balloon with you.
The five rivals, and the five marryable girls, May, or Kent.

Agreeing with a rival (King) to ride the balloon with them, causes a +8
affection boost to that rival, and if you decline, it does not change affection
    whatsoever.

Similarly, if you are King, asking any of the possible 12 NPCs to join you as
your assistant results in a +8 affection for that NPC.

You cannot give gifts based on the fact that you cannot open your pause menu
during the festival. You cannot talk to the NPCs and receive affection if you
are chosen to ride in the balloon or if you are the harvest king from the year
    before.

Talk to Lillia last and choose "No, nothing" to conclude the festival.

    Available NPCs:

      Rick (+2)
      Pastor Brown (+2)
      May (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Mayor's Wife (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      Popuri (+2)
      Ann (+2)
      Elli (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Lillia (+2)*
      Karen (+2)**
      Basil (+2)**

      Harris (+2)**
      Gray (+2)**
      Cliff (+2)**
      Stu (+2)***
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)***

*Lillia should be the last NPC you talk to. You could always just talk and
decline, but that conflicts with efficiency, though you are not under any
      time limit.

**These NPCs only show up for this festival if their individual affection is
      100 or higher each.

***These two will show up for every Planting Festival except on year 1.

                                        [Pre-F]

On the 19th of Spring to the 22nd of Spring when you enter the town square at
ANY point during the day (6:00 am - 5:59 am) there will be a ballot table in
the bottom portion of the screen. You can vote out of the five marryable girls
who will be the Goddess at the next Flower Festival (23rd of Spring).

    Vote Byte: 255 = Have not voted. 00 = Maria. 01 = Popuri. 02 = Elli. 03 = ann.
    04 = Karen.

You can only vote once within all these days. One vote per year.

    How the Goddes is determined:

I conducted 150 tests between having not voted for a Goddess, voting for
different girls, and voting for a girl while having another girl's affection
maxed while the voted for girl and other girls had 0 affection points. These
    are the results.

    No vote #1:

    00 Maria - 2
    01 Popuri - 5
    02 Elli - 8
    03 Ann - 5
    04 Karen - 10

    No vote #2:

    00 Maria - 5
    01 Popuri - 7
    02 Elli - 9
    03 Ann - 2
    04 Karen - 7

    Karen vote:

    00 Maria - 4
    01 Popuri - 5
    02 Elli - 3
    03 Ann - 2
    04 Karen - 16

    Maria vote:

    00 Maria - 17
    01 Popuri - 2
    02 Elli - 4
    03 Ann - 2
    04 Karen - 5

    Karen Affection / Maria vote:

    00 Maria - 16
    01 Popuri - 2
    02 Elli - 4
    03 Ann - 3
    04 Karen - 5

This inevitably shows that if you do not vote for a Goddess, the odds are
balanced at 20% chance for each of the five girls to be chosen. When you DO
vote for a girl, the one you voted for will now have a 50% chance of being
chosen as the Goddess while the remaining four girls drop to a divided 12.5%
chance of being chosen. This can only be manipulated by saving on the night of
the 21st and replaying the 22nd until the girl you want to be Goddess is chosen
(or not to be Goddess for strategical purposes since you cannot dance with the
Goddess, and whoever you dance with raises affection).

The Goddess is chosen randomly when you sleep on the 22nd of Spring every year,
    and no other day!

                                        [Flowe]

    Date: Spring 23rd

Warning: Spring 19th 6:00 am - 8:59 pm, Basil appear on your farm. If you talk
    to him (+2 Happiness)

To trigger, enter the town square before 6:00 pm. (+5 Happiness).

    Everything is closed today.

In this festival, you are free to roam from the start and talk to whomever you
like. There are a few things you can purchase only during this festival, two of
them only one time in the entire game (any year, but unique things).

Shady Salesman: Sells one of the ten Power Nuts in the game for 1,000G. Be sure
    to grab this.

Lillia / Basil: Talk to the pink flower seed bag to purchase as many Pink-Cat-
Mint Plant Seeds as you like. You can carry 20 maximum. 500G each.

Rick: Talk to the bottle on the table in front of Rick to have the option of
purchasing a unique bottle (stores several different liquids) for 200G.

    Available NPCs:

      Basil (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Lillia (+2)
      Pastor Brown (+2)
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)
      Mayor's Wife (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      Stu (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      Jeff (+2)*
      Harris (+2)*
      Gray (+2)**
      Cliff (+2)**
      Kai (+2)**

*These two rivals won't show up unless their individual affection is 30 or
      higher each.

**These three rivals won't show up unless their individual affection is 50 or
      higher each.

To conclude phase 1: You must wait 34 seconds (real life). This timer freezes
while you are talking to NPCs or making purchases.

Phase 2, there are five more available NPCs:

      Popuri (+2)
      Karen (+2)
      Ann (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Elli (+2)

+10 for whom you "Ask" to dance.

The best way to maximize affection gain here, is to talk to the Goddess, which
is one of these five girls (the one all dressed up with flowers all over her
gown and such, only an idiot couldn't tell which one is the Goddess. The
Goddess also stands right beside the Mayor). So, talk to the Goddess once. Talk
to each of the other four girls once and reply "Don't ask" so you can go to the
next girl and say the exact same thing to them. Talking causes the +2
affection, choosing "Don't ask" does not drop ANY affection, do not worry. To
conclude phase 2, you must choose "Ask" with one of those four girls. The girl
you ask to dance will gain a +10 affection boost (+12 total).

Warning: During the day you can receive up to five warnings about the fireworks
display happening that night. From 8:00 am - 8:59 pm if Maria's affection is 50
or higher, she will be the first warning (+2 Happiness). From 10:00 am - 10:59
am if Popuri's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the second warning (+2
Happiness). From 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm if Elli's affection is 50 or higher, she
will be the third warning (+2 Happiness). From 2:00 pm - 2:59 pm if Ann's
affection is 50 or higher, she will be the fourth warning (+2 Happiness). From
4:00 pm - 4:59 pm if Karen's affection is 50 or higher, she will be the fifth
    warning (+2 Happiness).

To gain the Happiness from the warnings, like every other warning you actually
have to talk to the NPC. Do so before the hour changes or they will walk off
the screen and you receive no Happiness. This totals a potential +10 Happiness
if you have the girls all at 50 affection of higher and hang outside your house
on the farm for the day. Honestly, Happiness is easy to come by and max out, so
I would carry on with your daily chores as priority over viewing the warnings.

There are five scenes you have the option to trigger, which will all conclude
automatically after the scenes and end the day and festival alike. All of the
scenes require 0 affection for any NPC. You can only trigger one of the five
scenes as obviously, the day and festival will conclude after said scene. These
    are the five possible scenes:

Watch the fireworks with Elli and Ellen: Enter the bakery from 7:00 pm - 8:59
pm. This is the most strict time requirement for today's festival scenes. The
scene grants +5 affection for Elli.

Watch the fireworks with Maria and a few other villagers: Enter the town square
from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. Talk to Maria. The scene grants +5 affection for
    Maria.

Watch the fireworks with Popuri: Enter the mountain summit screen from 6:00 pm
    - 11:59 pm (Must climb tree if the bridge is not built). The scene grants +5
    affection for Popuri.

Watch the fireworks with Ann: Enter the green ranch screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59
pm and enter the fence opening to the farm grass fields. The scene grants +5
    affection for Ann.

Watch the fireworks with Karen: Enter the beach screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm.
The scene grants +5 affection for Karen.

    Special bonus scenes:

This applies to all five scenes, and not only are the bonus scenes identical
but the requirements are exactly the same to one another. If you trigger the
initial scene with 55 or higher affection for the girl you chose to watch the
fireworks with, you will witness a bonus scene. You still only get the normal
+5 affection for the girl, but you also get a bonus (+5 Happiness) for
witnessing the bonus scene with any of the five girls. You and the girl simply
light fireworks together and you get to see some blushing on the girl.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

This isn't so much a festival with a specific series of phases or anything to
be won, in terms of unique prizes or scenes. You can talk to the NPCs in the
town square except Maria, without triggering any day-ending scenes, but the +5
affection for whatever girl you watch the fireworks with is pretty worthwhile
considering you don't have to trigger it until 11 pm + (except Elli).

(Town square) The Shipper's stall: 120G for candy. 200G for fry. 250G for corn.

Available NPCs (Not including the five girls you can trigger the day-ending
    scenes with):

      The Shipper (+0)
      Rick (+0)
      The three girls (+0)
      May (+0)
      Stu (+0)
      Kent (+0)
      Potion Shop Owner (+0)

To conclude: The day only forced conclusion as well as the festival, if you
choose to participate in watching the fireworks with one of the five girls whom
are at specific locations. The scene will conclude automatically.

An ideal strategy since you can only gain affection / possible happiness from
the five girls (only one of them per fireworks festival) would be to carry on
with your day normally, since everything is open during normal hours, finish
all of your required chores and make it to the scene trigger by midnight. For
Elli, it's a bit more strict, you have to enter the bakery between 7:00 pm -
8:59 pm otherwise the door is closed and locked, thus preventing you from
    seeing the fireworks with her.

    Date: Summer 9th

Warning: Summer 8th from 6:00 am - 8:59 am, Basil will be waiting on the farm
screen. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the north village screen anytime before 6:00 pm. This
triggers phase 1. Phase 2 and after can only be triggered before 6:00 pm, who
is one of the four NPCs blocking the stairs leading to the town square screen.
Talk to the Mayor with no vegetable and reply, "Correct." to trigger phase 2.
Talk to the Mayor with a vegetable in your hand to trigger phase 2.

    Everything is closed today.

When you enter the north village screen there will be four NPCs blocking the 4
tiles necessary to reach the town square screen. These four NPCs can be
exploited for affection until 6:00 pm. You have two options to trigger phase 2.
The first, is to have a vegetable and talk to the Mayor while it is in your
hand to enter that vegetable into the contest. The second, is to talk to the
Mayor and reply with, "Correct." when he asks if you didn't bring a vegetable
to participate in the festival, but not have the chance of winning the
    festival's contest.

The moment you trigger phase 2, the Vegetable Submitted Byte is triggered and
permanent until next year when you have the option to trigger phase 2 of this
    festival again.

When the festival concludes, which is when the scene where the winner is
decided / shown, this Vegetable Submitted Byte is scanned to determine which
vegetable you submitted... obviously. And whichever vegetable you picked, will
scan the total number of that vegetable you put into the shipping box. Example,
if you enter an eggplant, the game will scan the byte of how many eggplants
you've shipped total, and if the number meets the winning requirement, you win
    the festival.

Vegetable Submitted Byte: 00 = No vegetable submitted. 01 = Turnip submitted.
    02 = Potato submitted. 03 = Cabbage submitted. 04 = Tomato submitted. 05 = Corn
    submitted. 06 = Eggplant submitted. 07 = Strawberry submitted.

Just to clarify, you cannot submit eggs, any milk, or any wool.

Winning requirements: 100 (or more) turnips shipped, or 100 (or more) potatoes
shipped, or 100 (or more) cabbages shipped, or 100 (or more) tomatoes shipped,
or 100 (or more) corn shipped, or 100 (or more) eggplants shipped, or 100 (or
more) strawberries shipped. Obviously, the vegetable you submitted determines
which total number of the submitted vegetable byte is scanned.

Available NPCs in phase 1 (North Village screen):

      May (+2)*
      The Shipper (+2)*
      Mayor (+2)*
      Mayor's Wife (+2)*

*Exploit: Before triggering phase two, if you store the vegetable you may want
to enter into the contest for this festival in your bag, you can gain unlimited
affection boosts with these 4 available NPCs by gaining the affection from
simply talking to them, leaving the screen, and coming back onto the screen to
repeat the process! They remain in their positions until you enter the screen
at 6:00 pm or later, which will end both the exploit and the ability to
participate in the festival itself. For the Mayor, since he's the key to
trigger phase 2, talk to him with no vegetable in your hand and he asks if you
didn't bring a vegetable. Reply with, "No, I did." and you are free to walk /
leave the screen again. This is quite a handy little exploit for hard to come
by characters like The Shipper who only appears at the bar for regular
    affection boosting.

Available NPCs in phase 2 (Town Square):

      Popuri (+2)
      Elli (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Karen (+2)
      Ann (+2)
      Stu (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      The Gourmet Judge (+2)

Rewards for winning: To clarify, you MUST win this festival in order to achieve
any of these bonus rewards. (+5 Happiness) and an affection boost on all of the
    following villagers.

      The Shipper (+5)
      Popuri (+5)
      Basil (+5)*
      Mayor (+3)
      Mayor's Wife (+3)
      Elli (+3)
      Maria (+3)
      Karen (+3)
      Ann (+3)
      Stu (+3)
      Kent (+3)
      May (+3)
      Potion Shop Owner (+3)
      Rick (+3)
      The Gourmet Judge (+3)

*Basil is not actually at the festival, so you cannot gain the normal +2, but
strangely enough, winning the festival grants a +5 to Basil.

This means you can potentially earn a total of this much affection for the
    following individual villagers:

      The Shipper (+7)**
      Popuri (+7)
      Basil (+5)*
      Mayor (+5)**
      Mayor's Wife (+5)**
      Elli (+5)
      Maria (+5)
      Karen (+5)
      Ann (+5)
      Stu (+5)
      Kent (+5)
      May (+5)**
      Potion Shop Owner (+5)
      Rick (+5)
      The Gourmet Judge (+5)

*Basil is not actually at the festival, so you cannot gain the normal +2, but
strangely enough, winning the festival grants a +5 to Basil.

**These four NPCs can be exploited in phase one for quite a lot more
      affection points.

To conclude phase 2, you must wait for 34 real life seconds. This automatically
concludes the festival and the day. This timer is frozen while you are talking
    to NPCs.

An ideal strategy would be to start your day, take care of any harvesting,
planting, watering, or mountain visits before attending the festival. When you
enter the north village screen, with however much time you have left, exploit
the 4 NPCs for extra affection until 5:59 pm or as close to it as possible
without risking missing the festival. Personally, since it takes longer to walk
to the Mayor and his Wife from the closest possible screen to exit / re-enter
from, I'd only exploit The Shipper (And May because she's only one square from
him). If you're uncomfortable with the exploit, talk to each of the four only
once. Then submit your vegetable. Talk to everyone once. Win the contest for a
hefty affection boost on several villagers, including the gourmet and Basil who
did not even show up at the festival.

    Bonus scene:

The following evening (Summer 10th), if Basil's affection is 60 or higher, the
time is between 5:00 pm - 8:59 pm, you won the vegetable festival, and you are
on your farm screen; Basil will show up and ask to invite you to a party.
Talking to him alone grants (+2 Happiness). Saying "Yes" grants +5 affection
for Basil. Saying "No I'm busy" grants -5 affection for Basil. Saying yes
forces the day to end, and there is actually no celebration scene.

The mechanics behind this bonus scene... winning the festival triggers a
special event byte. Seeing Basil on the farm screen reverses this byte, thus
this event can happen more than once.

    Date: Summer 17th

Warning: On the 17th, first thing in the morning on the farm screen, The Mayor
will be waiting to inform you of the Firefly Festival happening later that
night. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the beach screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

When you trigger the scene, there will be various NPCs to talk to for a decent
affection boost on them. After some time, the final scene takes place and ends
    the day.

    Available NPCs:

      Ann (+2)
      Popuri (+2)
      Elli (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Mayor's Wife (+2)
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      Stu (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      The Shipper (+2)
      Karen (+2)*
      Kai (+2)**
      Jeff (+2)**
      Cliff (+2)**
      Harris (+2)**
      Gray (+2)**

*Karen will only show up for the festival if her affection is 26 or higher.

**These five rivals will only show up for the festival if their affection
affection is 100 or higher. Example, Kai, Jeff, and Cliff have 99 affection,
Harris and Gray have 100 affection. Only Gray and Harris will show up out of
      these five NPCs.

To conclude, you must wait for 34 real life seconds. This automatically
concludes the festival, and the day if you don't walk one of the girls home.
This timer is frozen while you are talking to NPCs.

There really is no strategy to this event whatsoever. Do everything you want to
normally during the day before attending. Attend the festival, talk to all of
the NPCs for a bonus, and agree to walk a girl home if she ask for a happiness
    boost.

    Bonus scene:

One of the five marryable girls has the potential to ask you to walk them home
after the mandatory firefly scenes have passed. Strangely, though. It's not
what affection they have for you when you enter the screen or after the scenes
that matter. Basically, any affection you gain during today (Summer 17th) is no
accounted for. This means if talking to them during the day, giving them gifts
during the day, or talking to them during the festival, and that happens to
bring the girl into the range of affection where they will ask you to walk them
home, the scene will still not trigger. The affection is scanned and the girl
who walks you home is determined when you sleep on the night of the 16th.
Anyways, those mechanics aside, the girls have to be at 140 or higher affection
each, and the girl with the highest affection (provided they are at 140 or
higher) will be the one to ask you to walk them home. In the event of a tie in
affection, the order of priority from highest to lowest is: Karen, Ann, Elli,
    Popuri, then Maria.

Agreeing to walk a girl home results in (+5 Happiness), declining results in
nothing, no happiness. Either option has no affect on the girl's affection.

    Date: Summer 24th

Warning: On the 23rd of Summer, first thing in the morning on the farm screen,
the Mayor is waiting to tell you about the swimming contest tomorrow at the
beach. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the beach screen anytime before 6:00 pm.

    Everything is closed today.

A swimming contest is held. To swim optimally, you don't rapidly tap the A
button, but instead, consistently and quickly press it. Keeping a rhythm is
what is important here, to win. There is no statistic in the game that affects
how well you swim. Kai usually wins if you do not, but others can win as well.

Showing up for the festival results in these affection changes:

      Jeff (+3)
      Kai (+3)
      Harris (+3)
      Gray (+3)
      Cliff (+3)

Losing the festival does not penalty you in any way, besides missing the prize
(which can be permanently lost if you do not win the first year!) and not
receiving the extra affection or happiness.

    Rewards for winning:

Year 1 - Invincible Katori (house decoration)

Year 2 or later - 150 pieces of lumber

All years - (+5 Happiness) and the follow extra affection changes:

      Jeff (+5)
      Kai (+5)
      Harris (+5)
      Gray (+5)
      Cliff (+5)

Yes, this means if you win the five rivals gain a total of +8 affection each.

The first time you win - A photo will be waiting for you in your mailbox the
    next day.

This event concludes automatically after completing the swimming contest scene,
whether you win or lose, the day is forcefully ended.

There is nothing strategical here. Rhythmically tap the A button quickly to
attain the quickest swimming speed. As for before the festival, since
everything is closed, do you chores on the farm before attending the festival,
but enter the screen by 6:00 pm or you will miss it for the year.

    Date: Fall 4th

Warning: On the 3rd of Fall, first thing in the morning on the farm screen.
Doug is waiting for you to ask you if you want to enter one of your cows in the
Cow Festival or not tomorrow. He only asks if you'll enter a cow if A) you talk
to him and B) you have at least one adult cow that is not sick. Agreeing to
enter a cow in the contest changes Doug's affection by +3. If you decline to
    enter, Doug's affection decreases by 5. ( -5 )

As a bonus warning, you can see Kent on the morning of Fall 2nd and if you talk
    to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the green ranch screen anytime before 6:00 pm.

    Everything is closed today.

When you trigger the festival, you are asked to be a milk judge. Do not worry,
this happens whether you enter a cow in the contest or not. After some time,
the winner is displayed and you gain various rewards before the festival and
    entire day concludes.

    Available NPCs:

      Ann (+2)
      Karen (+2)
      Popuri (+2)
      Elli (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Jeff (+2)
      Kai (+2)
      Gray (+2)
      Cliff (+2)
      Harris (+2)
      Doug (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      The Gourmet Judge (+2)

    Requirements for winning:

The requirements for winning are scanned the moment you enter the Green Ranch
    screen.

3rd place - Enter a cow. Have shipped 20 - 39 milks of any size.

2nd place - Enter a cow. Have shipped 40 - 59 milks of any size.

1st place - Enter a cow which has 240 or higher affection. Have shipped 60 or
    more milks of any size.

Note: Milks shipped on the day of and prior to triggering the festival count
toward the shipped milk total. The counter increases the moment you place the
    milk into the shipping box.

    Rewards for winning:

    3rd place - Nothing.

    2nd place - Nothing.

1st place - (Note: you must win 1st place to gain any of this) The cow you
entered will now produce Golden Milk which is the one and only stage of milk
size higher than a Large Milk. Winning the Cow Festival 8 times with 8
different cows is the only way to end up with 8 cows producing golden milk, and
obviously takes 8 years to accomplish (unless you are using a hacking device
such as gameshark). You also earn (+5 Happiness) and the following affection
    changes:

      Ann (+5)
      Gray (+5)
      Doug (+5)
      Kent (+5)
      Karen (+3)
      Elli (+3)
      Popuri (+3)
      Maria (+3)
      Kai (+3)
      Jeff (+3)
      Cliff (+3)
      Harris (+3)
      Potion Shop Owner (+3)
      Rick (+3)
      Mayor (+3)
      The Gourmet Judge (+3)

To conclude, you must wait for 34 real life seconds to conclude this festival
and inevitably the rest of the day also comes to an end as you are forced to
    sleep.

There is really no strategy that would differ from any other festival day. Take
care of your chores, especially milking any cows and shipping the milk as
priority, before entering the cow festival. Talk to all of the NPCs at the
festival for a decent boost. Win to gain some very nice rewards, as well as the
main requirement to obtain the photo for winning the Cow Festival.

    Bonus scene:

If you won the Cow Festival, it is the night of Fall 5th (the next night), you
are on your farm screen, Doug's affection is 60 or higher, and the time is from
5:00 pm - 8:59 pm; Doug will be waiting for you to invite you to a party for
the night. Agreeing will end the day immediately. There is no actual party
scene. Agreeing to go with him changes Doug's affection by +5, and if you
decline his invitation he decreases 5 affection points. ( -5 )

                                        [Harve]

    Date: Fall 12th

Warning: On the 11th of Fall, first thing in the morning on the farm screen,
the Mayor will be waiting for you to tell you about the Harvest Festival being
tomorrow. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the town square screen anytime before 6:00 pm.

    Everything is closed today.

    How the winner is selected:

Since there is no known way to vote for the King (quite possibly because you
are able to be the King), the game has a very precise set chance of selecting
the King when you sleep on Fall 11th. You cannot exploit this by reloading your
save, you'll have to save on the night of the 10th and replay the entire day of
the 11th over and over in order to randomize the odds again and manipulate the
outcome of the chosen King for the year. The Harvest King Byte values are as
    follows: 00 = Jack. 01 = Harris. 02 = Gray. 03 = Jeff. 04 = cliff. 05 = Kai. I
conducted 103 tests (I was going for 100, but went over a few) and here are the
    results:

    00 - Jack - 8
    01 - Harris- 18
    02 - Gray - 13
    03 - Jeff - 20
    04 - Cliff - 10
    05 - Kai - 34

This matches the script 'somewhat' well, but not very. Kai has a 30% chance of
being King. Jeff and Harris have a 20% chance each of being King. Jack (you,
the player), Gray, and Cliff all have a 10% chance each of being King. I
adjusted happiness and affection for many villagers and it does not
significantly change the results whatsoever. The script remains in place
without any strings attached or scanning it from another memory location of the
    game.

If you become King - You select assistants to conduct a musical at the Spirit
Festival in the Winter. You get (+5 Happiness). You fly in the balloon next
year at the Planting Festival. You dance with next year's voted Goddess at the
next Flower Festival. And most importantly... you earn one of the photos in the
    game.

If someone else becomes King - No happiness change. You get none of the above
    bonuses.

    Available NPCs:

      Ann (+2)*
      Karen (+2)*
      Maria (+2)*
      Popuri (+2)*
      Harris (+2)
      Jeff (+2)
      Carpenter #1 (Saw) (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      May (+2)
      Mayor's Wife (+2)
      Potion Shop Owner (+2)
      Stu (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      The Shipper (+2)
      Kai (+2)**
      Gray (+2)**
      Cliff (+2)**
      Elli (+2)***

During phase 2, you must select one of the five marryable girls to dance with.
The girl you choose will have an affection change of +10! (Unlike the flower
Festival, it is always possible to choose from all five girls... just, always)

*These four girls have a chance to ask you a question (they don't always
ask). Both answers result in no happiness change or affection change
whatsoever for all of the applicable NPCs.

**These three rivals only show up if their affection is 100 or higher.

***She comes out when phase 2 is triggered, talking to her concludes the
festival with a few scenes, and inevitably the rest of the day concludes as
well. You do get the normal affection for initiating said trigger, mind you.

To conclude phase 1, you must wait 34 real life seconds for Elli to come out of
the door at the back of the town square. This does not force you to end phase
1, but you now have the option to end phase 1 by talking to Elli. Phase 2
begins after the King is announced and now you get to choose one of the five
marryable girls to dance with, which will conclude the festival and the day
    alike.

The only strategy you have control over manipulating is a bit tedious, but
possible. On the 10th, when you save... the 11th begins (obviously), do not
save on the 11th, just play the 11th like your normally would and "Don't write"
in the diary, just sleep that night. If on the next day you are selected as the
Harvest King, you can save that night, if not, reload your save from the
morning of the 11th and replay the two days over and over until you are
selected as the King. Nothing incredibly different about this festival day.
Everything is closed, so tend to your farm chores and hit up the festival
before 6:00 pm. Talk to everyone here once, as nothing is exploitable in terms
of affection. Dance with the girl you wish to raise the extra +10 affection
with, for whatever reason you please. It's as simple as that.

                                        [EggFe]

    Date: Fall 20th

Warning: On the 19th of Fall, first thing in the morning on your farm screen.
The Mayor is waiting for you to tell you about the Egg Festival tomorrow. If
you talk to him (+2 Happiness).

To trigger, enter the north village screen anytime before 6:00 pm.

    Everything is closed today.

The Mayor greets everyone and explains about the egg hunt contest. When it
commences, he shows you a certain color of an egg in his hands. You must find
this exact colored egg and bring it back to the Mayor by talking to him with
the correct egg in your hands. If you find the wrong egg, just drop it by
pressing A anytime (funny, it has no dropping animation, it just completely
disappears) and continue searching the other boxes until you find the right
    one.

There are 8 boxes to choose from, always in the exact same locations every
year. Every time the Mayor shows a new egg (or the first one) the game randomly
generates which color of egg is where, and 2 of the 8 boxes are ALWAYS empty,
no exceptions. The egg colors are; yellow, pink, white, light blue, orange, and
    purple.

The Mayor shows a total of five eggs, they could be the same color as a
previous egg, since the color is randomly generated each time he draws one.
Every time you bring him a correct egg, you score 1 point. This obviously means
you can win up to 5 points per year.

Each round is 34 real life seconds long. Timer is frozen while talking to NPCs.

The eight boxes in rough description's locations are as follows:

      1) Beside the left staircase the leads to the town square.
      2) Southwest to the door that leads to Saibara's shop.
      3) To the right of Saibara's shop.
      4) South of the bakery.
      5) Northwest of the entrance to the church.
      6) Next to the bar, near the back, go between the bar and the church.
      7) Southeast of the entrance to the church.
      8) Go between the flower shop and the church and cut behind the flower shop.
Pass the greenhouse and it is tucked in the corner behind the greenhouse.

#8 is the hardest one to reach and consumes the most time. Based on odds and
randomization and the fact that you can search box #1 - #7 and make it back in
time for the Mayor every 'round', it is most effective to check box #1 - #7
every round and this nets you a high chance at maximizing your points.

    Requirements to win:

You must earn 3 points, 4 points, or 5 points to win the Egg Festival contest.
Any lower and the Mayor spews out a random rival's name. (Literally completely
random). By rival, I mean one of the five main rivals, not an egg hunt
opponent. Funnily enough, even if Gray is not at the festival, he can say Gray
    won the competition.

    Rewards for winning:

The first time you win - One of the ten Power Nuts in the game. (+5 Happiness)

The second time you win - The Turtle Figurine. (+5 Happiness)

The third time you win and any time after - 150 pieces of lumber. (+5
    Happiness)

Note: This was tested and verified extensively and 100% accurate, if someone
else wins before you win one of the first two prizes, they always win a month's
supply of lumber, which actually affects nothing in the game because no one
    else has a lumber count.

    Available NPCs:

      Ann (+2)
      Karen (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Cliff (+2)
      Harris (+2)
      Jeff (+2)
      Kai (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Stu (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      Doug (+2)*
      Gray (+2)*
      Mayor (+2)**

The NPCs at this festival are not exploitable. One increase per year. Even if
the screen blacks out because you didn't bring a correct egg to the Mayor in
time. I tried everything, trust me.

*If Gray's affection is 0 - 100, Doug will show up at the festival. If Gray's
affection is 101 or higher, Doug will not show up at the festival and Gray
      will show up instead.

**Speak to him last, since he asks a question where either answer will
trigger the egg contest, thus scattering everyone else. You can gain the
affection boost on him during the egg games, but why have to hunt NPCs for
affection when you're trying to hunt a correctly colored egg? That's what I
      thought.

To conclude, let the five rounds pass, there is no way to skip them once the
festival has been triggered. After the five rounds, the winner is decided and
both the festival and the day comes to an end.

Save the night before and retry if you don't get the results you want. If you
are going for a perfect game by evaluation, you'll need to win on year 1 and
year 2 to gain both unique prizes. Like any other festival day, take care of
your chores first, be sure not to accidentally enter the north village screen
as this will trigger the Egg Festival. The best strategy I can think of, is to
trigger the festival, talk to all of the NPCs while they are gathered and
standing still near the Mayor. Then talk to the Mayor and initiate the contest.
I'd search box #1 - #7 first in sort of a U-pattern starting with the one next
to the staircase that leads to the town square, and work your way back to the
Mayor when you find the correct egg, skipping the hard to get to box behind the
flower shop greenhouse. 99% of the time you will win the festival by utilizing
    this strategy.

    Date: Winter 10th

Warning: There is no 'usual' event to warn you about this, just regular
villager NPC conversations and calendar / TV notifications.

There is no trigger. Just a few non-unique events that can happen only on this
day every year, if you meet the requirements.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

In order to receive a cake from one or more of the girls, their affection has
to be at 140 or higher, each...This is the golden rule. None of the scenes
below will happen unless the specified girl has 140 or higher affection. Do we
have that clear, yet? The next rule is, each girl has two Thanksgiving Day
scenes you can choose from, some with better benefits than others. You can only
view one of the two scenes for each girl per Thanksgiving Day.

Scene 1 - Your Farm Screen:

From 8:00 am - 8:59 am, Maria will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8
    Happiness) (0 Affection).
From 10:00 am - 10:59 am, Popuri will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8
    Happiness) (0 Affection).
From 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm, Elli will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8
    Happiness) (0 Affection).
From 2:00 pm - 2:59 pm, Ann will show up. Talk to her to receive (+8 Happiness)
    (0 Affection).
From 4:00 pm - 4:59 pm, Karen will show up. She asks if you want to try some
cake. If you say "No" You get (0 Happiness) and a very nasty (-8 Affection). If
you say "Yes" you gain (+8 Happiness) and an EXTRA (+3 Affection for Karen).

With this knowledge, if you find Karen again, you can still gain the normal
conversation affection as well as the affection from giving her a gift.

    Scene 2 - Specific Locations:
Note: Some of these girls need to be talked to multiple times to receive the
    cake scene (and statistical benefits).

Popuri: North village screen, outside of the flower shop. (+3 Happiness) (0
    Affection)
Maria: Inside her house (Mayor's house). (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection)
Elli: Inside the bakery. (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection)
Ann: Outside of the first house when entering the green ranch screen. (+3
    Happiness) (0 Affection)
Karen: On the beach screen. If you say "Yes" (+3 Happiness) (0 Affection). If
you say "No" (0 Happiness) (-8 Affection).

Considering there isn't any party or festival to attend (A good thing in ways,
as the day won't forcefully come to an end). You really have very few things to
consider. Are you going for an optimal G run? In that case, by this point in
time you should still be focusing on maxing income as early as possible, so hit
the mines bright and early after tending to your greenhouse and bringing some
snacks. Do you want best Happiness results? Wait around your farm for the day
for a potential 40 Happiness increase between the five girls, and +3 affection
for Karen as well. You can still gain the gift and conversation affection from
all of the girls when they return to their normal locations, which happens if
    A) You view one of the two scenes or B) You have not met the affection
requirements for the special events in the first place.

    Date: Winter 24th

Warning: On the 24th, throughout the day, the five marryable girls will invite
you to the Star Night Festival at whichever location they are going to be
(always the same location for each girl). This requires 100 or higher affection
for each girl individually for them to show up and invite you.

8:00 am - 8:59 am - Maria shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness).
10:00 am - 10:59 am - Popuri shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness).
12:00 pm - 12:59 pm - Elli shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness).
2:00 pm - 2:59 pm - Ann shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness).
4:00 pm - 4:59 pm - Karen shows up. Talk to her for (+2 Happiness).

To trigger the event with Ann, Maria, and Elli, enter the church from 7:00 pm -
11:59 pm. To trigger the event with Popuri, enter the mountain summit screen
from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. To trigger the event with Karen, enter the beach
    screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

There are three events, from which you can choose one of to participate in for
the Star Night Festival. Each with different beneficial statistic increases.

    Option 1 (Church performance):

You can only talk to every NPC here once for the +2 boost, regardless of what
stage or phase the scene is in. When the performance is over. You can talk to
Stu, Kent, Mayor's Wife, and the Mayor and they will walk home on their own (no
statistical changes). You can talk to Pastor Brown, but as we know, the church
IS his home and he remains put. You can invite one of the three marryable girls
here out to watch the stars with you. The moment the question is displayed, you
must have 101 or higher affection with the specified girl for them to accept,
otherwise they just walk home on their own, declining your invitation. You can
be declined by two girls and still able to roam freely to ask the last
remaining girl for a chance. If they accepted your invitation you gain NO
AFFECTION, but you do gain (+5 Happiness).

Available NPCs (Ann, Elli, and Maria event):

      Stu (+2)*
      Ann (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Elli (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Mayor's Wife (+2)
      Mayor (+2)
      Pastor Brown (+2)**

*You must talk to Stu the moment you enter the church and not move onto any
squares you don't have to. Trying to talk to him after talking to others is
impossible, because the square you need to stand on to approach him triggers
the dialogue that prevents you from leaving the church and pushes your
character forward one square in the direction of the pastor. Simply talk to
      him first.

**Talk to this NPC last, or if you don't feel like it, talk to him anytime
and answer "Wait" to his question. When ready to trigger phase 2 of this
event, talk to this NPC and choose "OK".

    Unexploitable.

    Option 2 (Mountain Summit):

Triggering this scene grants (+5 Happiness) and +2 affection for Popuri
immediately. Soon after, an option will come up. If you choose "Go home."
nothing happens. If you choose "cuddle." and she has 99 or less affection,
nothing happens. If you choose "cuddle." and you have enough affection (100 or
higher), she will get close to you and you will both blush. For another (+5
Happiness) (That's 10 happiness total for this scene, being possible). No
    affection changes for either answer.

    Bonus Scene:

This is quite hilarious. The Harvest Sprites will pervertedly observe you and
Popuri cuddling on the mountain summit, if you choose to "cuddle." and meet the
requirements for this bonus scene to occur. The requirements are: Popuri must
be 100 or higher affection. The three Harvest Sprites must be 100 affection or
higher. Must choose "cuddle." during this Star Night Festival option.

    Option 3 (Beach):

Triggering this scene grants +2 affection for Karen immediately. Soon after,
and option will come up. If you choose "Go home." nothing happens. If you
choose "Draw closer." and her affection is 100 or less, nothing happens. If you
choose "Draw closer." and her affection is 101 or higher, you will see a
romantic scene of the two holding hands and Karen blushing (+5 Happiness).

To conclude option 1, either be declined by the three girls and have the other
4 NPCs (All but Pastor Brown) walk home. Or have a girl accept your invitation
for an extra scene, and then the day concludes.

To conclude option 2 and 3, simply trigger the options to begin with and they
will automatically conclude as the scene ends.

Since this is in the evening, you can get your mining and greenhouse done,
without interference. There are really only three strategies. If you want to
increase the most amount of affection for both villagers and multiple marryable
girls, go to the church. If you want the mere +2 affection for Popuri and +10
happiness, go to Popuri. If you want the mere +2 affection for Karen and +5
happiness, go to Karen. Keep in mind, the happiness is only gained if you meet
the affection requirements when the option for each girl comes up.

As a final note, I personally find Popuri's and Karen's scene much better in
terms of viewing pleasure. Might be something to consider if nothing in the
above matters in your play through.

                                        [Spiri]

    Date: Winter 27th

Warning: On the 27th of Winter, first thing in the morning on your farm screen.
The Mayor will be waiting to inform you of the Spirit Festival taking place
later that night. If you talk to him (+2 Happiness). Note that he says it isn't
until 7:00, but you can enter it anytime after 6:00 pm and trigger the
festival. Also note, regardless of whether you are king or not, or have the
ocarina or not, this warning will always happen, only with a different message
if you are King or not. If you are King, just a funny note; the Mayor says the
festival is tomorrow, when it is actually later that night! If you are King,
you get the normal happiness increase from the bonus, be he has different
dialogue as well as the option the be the spirit at the Spirit Festival later
that night. Agreeing grants a +3 affection for the Mayor and declining results
in a decrease of affection (-5). There is no affection requirement to be asked
    to be the spirit.

Extra possible warnings (When you are asked to play music or choose assistants
    when you are king):

First of all, if you have the ocarina, you will play the ocarina at the
festival. If you do not have the ocarina (or even if you do not have the cow
bell yet for some crazy reason) you will always play the cow bell at the
festival. This has absolutely no impact on the statistical benefits whatsoever!
Frankly, besides novelty, purchasing the ocarina is completely useless besides
seeing it at this festival. For a perfect game, that is another story, for an
optimal G run, buying it is not going to happen until you've maxed your G.

With that information aside, the extra warnings you could encounter will always
happen immediately after the Mayor leaves with his initial warning that
morning. On the first year, since the Potion Shop Owner is always the King, he
will ask you to be an assistant, but ONLY if the Potion Shop Owner's affection
is 50 or higher. In the future years, if you are not the King, that means one
of the five rivals is King and will take the place of the Potion Shop Owner in
this aspect and ask you to be an assistant if your affection for that rival is
    100 or higher.

When the Potion Shop Owner shows up (50 or higher affection) - Talking to him
is (+2 Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection
    for him.

When Harris shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2
Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for
    him.

When Gray shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2
Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for
    him.

When Jeff shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2
Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for
    him.

When Cliff shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2
Happiness). Agreeing is +3 affection for him. Declining is -5 affection for
    him.

When Kai shows up (100 or higher affection) - Talking to him is (+2 Happiness).
Agreeing is +3 affection for CLIFF. Declining is -5 affection for CLIFF.

No, those stats are not an error. Answering Kai this way does actually change
Cliff's affection and only Cliff's affection. This is a mistake by the
developers. Kai's affection is correctly scanned to determine if Kai shows up,
however. Many hackers when figuring this kind of thing out, assume everything
is the same for say, all rivals and girls, where as I take the time to actually
check every one individually to ensure the results are correct and accurate.
Yes, after noticing this error, I double checked all of the others to be sure.
Also as a final note, if you gain the +3 affection here, and you agree to
perform in the musical, you will gain another +3 from that NPC when you trigger
the festival. (When you're King it doesn't matter, because you can't agree, you
can only decide who will 100% show up at the festival of the special 10 NPCs by
asking them in their normal locations during the day, and being King alone
guarantees a different set of affection increase altogether, see below for more
    details).

To trigger the festival, enter the town square screen from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

    Available NPCs:

Note: If you do not assist to perform in the musical (when you are not King),
you will receive NONE of these affection increases! If you are King you will
always receive the affection increases. Needless to say, if you do perform and
are not the King, you will gain the affection increases.

      Potion Shop Owner (+2)**
      May (+0)***

*Out of these 10 special NPCs, three of them will be randomly selected to
perform a musical with the Harvest King of the previous year. Only two will
be randomly chosen if you decide to assist (and have met the requirements to
decide to assist) as you will fill one of the three possible slots. You will
only gain the affection boost for the three (or two) that show up with you.
If the King this year is one of these NPCs (basically, not the Potion Shop
Owner or yourself), they will also gain the specified affection increase.
What decides the +3 or +5 you ask? You gain +3 if you perform and are not the
King. You gain +5 for the three performers when you are the King, but the
rest of the villagers gain the normal affection boosts. Whether you invite
the NPCs or not has no difference on affection during the festival while you
      are King.

**The Potion Shop Owner is always Harvest King the first year, but for some
reason on the first year and only the first year, you will gain 0 affection
from him. If you hack the King to be someone else on the first year, the
Potion Shop Owner does not even show up in the crowd, and no affection is
still gained. It must be year two or later to receive affection from him
      during this festival, basically.

*** May is in The Shipper's arms at this festival ever year, but the
developers didn't take into account that it should be the value of two NPCs
instead of just one, so only The Shipper gets the affection, whereas May will
always receive no affection every year, whether you perform or not! How
      unfortunate.

Note: You do not gain any happiness for attending the festival in any way,
    shape, or form.

Choosing assistants (obviously only possible if you are Harvest King):

This was a headache to figure out, because I did all of my extensive testing on
year 1. It has to be year two or later, or the option will just not happen.
Having the ocarina, the cow bell, or nothing at all makes no difference, you
will always be able to ask them once you agree with the Mayor that you will be
the spirit for the year. When you ask them, if they agree, no statistical
changes happen besides increasing the chance they will perform at the Spirit
Festival to 100%. If you initiate conversations, and then choose not to invite
them, the affection for that NPC decreases (-2). Be careful about that.

The NPCs will accept your invitation to be an assistant if their affection is
high enough (all NPCs tested). The requirement values listed below are what
their affection has to be before you initiate conversation, since before you
make a choice, you raise their affection because of the normal mechanics behind
talking to a NPC for the first time in a day. You can only ask these ten NPCs.
You cannot ask the Potion Shop Owner, just to clarify.

      Karen - 60 or higher.
      Maria - 50 or higher.
      Popuri - 50 or higher.
      Ann - 50 or higher.
      Elli - 50 or higher.

      Gray - 59 or higher.
      Harris - 50 or higher.
      Cliff - 49 or higher.
      Jeff - 50 or higher.
      Kai - 59 or higher.

Fun fact: It's funny, if you invite them and they decline, or if you talk to
them and choose "Don't invite" they still have a chance to randomly be
generated to perform if you have unchosen assistant slots when you trigger the
    festival.

To conclude, simply watch the performance and both the day and festival will
conclude on its own after a few short dialogues.

Everything is open today normally, so I'd get your mining, greenhouse, and
animals done as priority. You don't gain any happiness from anything besides
the warnings you get in the morning.. so if it is affection increases you want
to maximize, then you will want to attend the festival in the town square that
night. If you are not King, and don't accept / don't get invited to perform,
you will gain no affection from this festival. If you perform or are King, you
gain the affection, and an extra bit of affection when you are King from the
three performers, whether they were specially selected by you, or randomly
generated because you didn't select them during the day. So I guess a strategy
could be to choose the top three out of the ten possible performers (five
marryable girls and five rivals) from which you want to gain the affection
    toward, while you are King.

    Date: Winter 30th

Warning: There are no warnings for this festival.

To trigger, enter the bar from 6:00 pm - 11:59 pm, or enter the church from
6:00 pm - 11:59 pm. You can only attend one of the two locations for this
    festival gathering.

Everything is open today, during normal hours.

You have two options this time around. You can go to the church gathering, or
you can party at the bar. (Kinda deciphers the difference between good and evil
here, don't you think?) Both are very straight forward, and all you can do at
either location is talk to the NPCs present.

    Available NPCs (church):

      Elli (+2)
      Maria (+2)
      Popuri (+2)
      Harris (+2)
      Jeff (+2)

      Cliff (+2)
      Gray (+2)
      Kai (+2)
      Duke (+2)
      Kent (+2)
      Rick (+2)
      Stu (+2)

    Unexploitable.

To conclude, walk out of the bar or church and the pastor / bartender will
confirm if you are ready to leave. Confirm and the day as well as the festival
will conclude immediately after being warned about the New Year's Festival in
    the town square tomorrow.

No strategies, do your normal routine. Look at the available NPCs lists I have
and make your decision as to which set of NPCs you'd like to raise the
affection of more. Duke can only appear in the bar. Three girls and two rivals
in the church. Two girls and three rivals in the bar. Just some things to
    consider.

    Date: Spring 1st

Warning: No normal warning takes place. The only warning you get is if you
attended one of the two locations from last night's New Year's Eve Festival,
and as you choose to end the festival, they will warn you accordingly of the
festival that is to take place today.

To trigger, enter the town square screen anytime before 6:00 pm.

    Everything is closed today.

When you enter the festival, various NPCs will be standing in groups talking to
each other and exchanging toasts. If you have a high enough Alcohol Tolerance
stat, you can out drink everyone and gain a hefty amount of affection for those
NPCs as well... especially Karen and Kai. Have fun, and talk to the carpenter
to end the day and festival.

    Available NPCs:

Note: I decided to put these in order from who can drink the least to who can
    drink the most.

    Popuri (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Ann (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Gray (+2) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)*
    Cliff (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)*
    Jeff (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)*
    Mayor's Wife (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)
Potion Shop Owner (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Lillia (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Rick (+4) - (-1 Alcohol Tolerance)

    Maria (+6) - (-2 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Elli (+6) - (-2 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Harris (+6) - (-2 Alcohol Tolerance)*
    Midwife (+6) - (-2 Alcohol Tolerance)
    Mayor (+6) - (-2 Alcohol Tolerance)

    Kai (+10) - (-4 Alcohol Tolerance)*

    Karen (+12) - (-5 Alcohol Tolerance)

    Carpenter #1 (Saw) (+2)**
    The Shipper (+2)**

*These five rivals only show up for this festival if their affection is 100
      or higher.

**These two NPCs block the entrance so you cannot leave the festival, though
you can choose to leave if you talk to the carpenter and respond accordingly.

Final notes, you can toast with Gray only once and receive the affection only
once. His second dialogue does not make him leave or toast again with you, also
not giving any affection. Cycles endlessly. If you attended the bar the night
before, you will notice Gray says he is watching Ann to make sure she doesn't
party too hard. This is very much likely why he will not leave. Last but not
least, if you have a toast when your Alcohol Tolerance is at a value of 0, you
will pass out and the day will conclude. Passing out has no statistical
    changes.

To conclude, talk to the carpenter at the entrance of the town square and
    respond accordingly.

On Winter 30th, I'd advise taking your bottle to the vineyard's wine cellar and
drinking (stealing) 28 servings of wine. This will raise the Alcohol Tolerance
statistic by +1 every time you have a drink, and in order to out drink
everyone, you must enter the festival with 28 or higher Alcohol Tolerance. Do
note, that every drink you've had during the year adds to your alcohol
tolerance as well (drinking at the bar, Karen giving you wine etc.). No, you
cannot drink the special bottle of wine you get from Duke, under any
circumstances. Anyways, talk to every NPC over and over until they've had
enough to drink and exit the festival for maximum affection gain. Enjoy the
    humorous comments.

matured to full growth. If you enter your horse, Doug gets a +3 affection

The festival for the horses races is constant effect, thus there is no trigger.
However, the individual races have triggers. Constant effect meaning you can

To conclude, simply leave the town square screen and don't choose to come back
    before 6:00 pm.

There is no affection strategy, entering the town square screen with a gift in
your hands will cause the gift to instantly disappear forever, and needless to
say, you cannot open you start menu on the festival screens.

If you have 4,950G on hand, you can bet 99 tokens toward one of the 6 available
horses, and if they win, you gain 99 X whatever number odds were next to that
horse's name on the betting screen. The odds can range from 2 - 40. 29,700G
allows you to place full tokens on all six horses.

Exploit: When you place all of your tokens down, exit the betting screen and
you will be charged 0G, yet the tokens you placed will remain so, and you will
still win the correct amount of medals based on the tokens you submitted toward
the winning horse. You must exit the betting screen by pressing B, and not
    confirm anything.

When your horse has high affection and you entered the race, it will be fairly
easy to win just by rapidly tapping the A button during the race you are in.
Stamina carrot does absolutely nothing, after extensive testing... nothing
toward the race, and nothing toward affection gain / loss outside of the race.
The best race strategy I can think of is to stay beside the horse that is in
the lead, and at the end sprint just ahead enough to take the prize. Many games
use the old "if you're far ahead, make the CPU catch up" mechanic, so this
should conserve your stamina enough to allow you to win even with fairly low
    horse affection.

Both horse race events are exactly identical with absolutely no difference,
    besides the date.

your hands will cause the gift to instantly disappear forever, and needless to
say, you cannot open you start menu on the festival screens.

If you have 4,950G on hand, you can bet 99 tokens toward one of the 6 available
dogs, and if they win, you gain 99 X whatever number odds were next to that
dog's name on the betting screen. The odds can range from 2 - 40. 29,700G
allows you to place full tokens on all six dogs.

Exploit: When you place all of your tokens down, exit the betting screen and
you will be charged 0G, yet the tokens you placed will remain so, and you will
still win the correct amount of medals based on the tokens you submitted toward
the winning dog. You must exit the betting screen by pressing B, and not
    confirm anything.

When your dog has high enough affection, the odds of him winning become heavily
increased and definitely weighs in your favor if you're anywhere near max (255)
    affection.

Firstly, I don't mean to sound selfish or rude in any way, but I refuse to
credit the various online sources I've read on my first casual play through
the game, as the information on the festivals was jumbled around, highly
inaccurate and useless in terms of statistical benefits. I won't list any of
the work I am talking about here, to avoid humiliating anyone or otherwise
    start any kind of drama.

I did however, contact specific veterans on the boards of GameFAQs and over
messenger, asked many questions, tested several theories that were shared with
me, and got to the bottom of everything. This special shout-out goes to this
highly contributing Harvest Moon 64 veteran, as he more than deserves to be
credited for giving me almost every guideline I needed to look over and verify
with extensive testing and careful data collection.

Sam Van Dam, this shout-out is for you, sir. Thank you!

Next, Anthony deserves credit for pointing out the innuendo-like bonus scene
you can view during the Star Night Festival when cuddling Popuri on the
mountain summit screen. Those little perverts!

Next, I have to thank the makers of the Cheat Engine software, which allowed me
to view any and every byte within the game to closely monitor values as they
change in real time, right to the millisecond! This program is the magic behind
all of my testing and statistical information, everything from pointer scans,
to memory region access programming routes. Thank you!

Next, I must thank the staff of GameFAQs for looking over the document and
    considering it for approval.

Next, I must thank Victor Interactive Software, the develop team that created
this wonderful game for us all to play and enjoy however we see fit without
having to worry about things like if the next boss will kill us or anything
    like that!

Finally, I credit myself for the hard work put into the data collection. I'm
only satisfied when I do all of this number crunching myself, as it seems in
the past when verifying someone else's work I ALWAYS seem to find errors..
and of course for writing this document.
