Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
Review by GrimWolf
"The Man, the Myth, the Game-do you have what it takes?"
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is a Nintendo 64 game from Titus based on the television show. It centers around one of the most popular myths, that of Heracles, or as he is better known, Hercules. In this game, you will do many things, such as beating up enemies and bosses, solving puzzles, and do lots of trading sequences similar to the ones in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. You will play as two of Herc's friends, Iolaus and Serena. They all have their own unique attacks and weapons.
Graphics: 10
The graphics are good. The main characters look unique, and Ares looks alot like he does in the show.
Play Control: 5
The play control in this game is pretty crappy. At one point, you are required to jump a gap to reach a switch that you need to enter the city of Thrace. It took me at least 6 tries to make it across. Battling is pretty hard, because the enemies usually come out of tents, and they surround you, forcing you to either do the behind attack(Which isn't always successful) or running around in circles, hitting the enemy, then running in circles again, over and over.
Game Design: 9
Like I said, it's based on the TV show. Your basic job is to go around beating people up and solving people's problems.
Sound: 9
The sound effects are good, but all the human enemies make the exact same sounds! The music is usually happy, even in strange situations, like when you're fighting the Cyclops, if I'm correct.....
Satisfaction: 8
The game is okay, but you have to know alot about mythology and the TV show to fully understand it.
Rent/Buy:
If you're a huge fan of the TV show, puzzles, and mythology, than buy it. If you're just looking for a good challenge, than rent this one.
