"Mario Kart 64 is a very fun game!"

Mario Kart 64 for the Nintendo 64 is possibly the best game on the system (along with Super Mario 64, of course). It is a very enjoyable racing game and fun to play when bored. Anyways, onto the review.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics of this game were good for their time, but are starting to show their age. However the graphics of Mario Kart 64 aren't detrimental to the overall fun factor of the game and replayability. If you can handle the graphics the game will still be outstanding.

Sound: 9/10
Mario Kart 64's sound is pretty good and probably one of the best aspects of the game. Some of the music is very memorable, and the sound enhances the gameplay of the game. Voices and sound effects are executed flawlessly into the game.

Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is the best aspect of Mario Kart 64. Whether you play alone or with friends the game will be satisfactory to any gamer. Multiplayer and battle mode are my personal favorite modes. Difficulty may be low however the game is still fun even if it is easy. Also you can use a variety of power ups in all of the game's modes when they become available.

Fun: 10/10
You'll want to play for hours and you'll never get bored, and if you do, you can always invite a friend or two (or three) over to play Mario Kart 64. There are plenty of things to do in Mario Kart 64, whether you're a single player or are playing with multiple people. I have not gotten bored of this game and still own it.

Story: N/A
There is no story in Mario Kart, this is a racing game.

Replayability: 9/10
The replayability level is very high in this game, enough said. Awesome game, plenty of replay value, a game definitely worth keeping for a very long time. Many modes in the game are available, all of the usual characters, power ups, difficulty levels, etc. However, you need friends over to enhance the gaming experience. It is recommended to play this game with a friend often.

Final Recommendation: Rent, and then Buy
Rent Mario Kart 64 first and see if you like it. This should appease to any racing game fan or Mario fan. Even if you aren't a fan you probably will like it. If you rented it and liked it most definitely buy. If you rented it and didn't like it, shame on you. Mario Kart 64 is a gem that should be found in any game player's collection. Buy this game, it is worth every dollar!
