NBA Hangtime
Review by Kirby58
"A good old arcade game"
Introduction:
Wowzers, what a game. Fun from start to finish, you always want to come back for more, no matter how long you play it. It has a lot of different gameplay modes, and it won't keep you hanging. Ha ha ha... pun intended.
Gameplay: 9/10
From high-flying dunks to insane half court shots, this games got it all. It's a street type game with 2 VS. 2 matches and no rules. You can push, take the ball off the rim, you can do anything. The best part is when you get on fire, and almost no one can stop you. It also has a Create A Player mode which adds for a lot of variety. You can customize your face, your skills and your nickname. You can play cooperatively with a friend through over 20 different NBA teams, or against your friend for insane fun. The best part, I think, is playing with 3 of your friends for insane 4-player madness.
Story:
This game has no story, so I can't rate it. Go figure.
Graphics: 6/10
Not the best I've seen on the N64, the characters are paper thin, their really isn't a sense of depth, and the crowd looks incredibly fake. But hey, it's not the graphics, its the gameplay right? On the brighter side, however, their are many different looks to the players, and their are also many real NBA players.
Sound: 9/10
I love the sound of the ball swishing through the net, and the sound of my opponent putting up a brick. The sound of the crowd cheering never gets old. My favorite part however is when you throw up an air ball and the whole crowd yells ''AIR BALL!''. My only gripe with this is the announcer,
who has only about 20 sayings, and he says them repeatedly, but you grow kind of numb towards them after awhile.
Music: 8/10
Love the beat during the game, and the raps during halftime and on the main menu. The only bad part is the fact that their are about 3 different tunes.
Replay Value: 10/10
This game has great replay value, I still play it today, and I doubt that I will ever get bored with it. This one will never sit on your shelf for too long.
Rent or Buy:
Rent it if your not sure whether you'll like it or not(but I have no doubt that you will) If you can find it on ebay, then BID, BID, BID! It's a great game with many hours of gameplay, well worth the 20 bucks you'll pay for it.
