Pokemon Stadium
Review by BMonkey
"Pokemon battles in 3D; need I say more?"
Pokemon Stadium is the most fun game for the N64 since Goldeneye. Combining great graphics, Pokemon, and a bunch of mini-games and other goodies.
Graphics: 10
As usual, the graphics are superb. The special effects for the more powerful moves (my personal favorites are Solar Beam and Psychic) are awsome. No complaints here. Also you can play the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions on your N64! It's like playing on Super Game Boy.
Sound: 7
This is where the game suffers. Most noticeably you'll be hearing souped-up versions of the GB game's 'voices'Yuck. Besides the familiar 'Cha!' of Pikachu when you turn the game on, and in the mini-games you'll hear thier voices from the TV show. The announcer gets annoying fast, also. I started to go insane after hearing him say ''There is a distinct difference of the number of Pokemon they have left!'' about 20 times. Luckly you can turn off the voices.
The music comes from the GB game so it's OK at best.
Gameplay: 10
The fights remain close to the ones on the GB, except instead of slecting a move from a list, you press R to see what mover your Pokemon has and press the corresponding C button. There's a heck of a lot of things to do. There are 9 mini-games, some which are fun and some which are less exciting than a sack of potatoes. The main game consists of the Gym Leader Castle, where you battle 3 trainers then the Gym leader. There are no level restriction, but the opponents match your pokemons' levels, which makes it very challenging. The Stadium lets you battle for trophies. With 4 options of play (Poke Cup, Prime Cup, Pika Cup, and Petit Cup) you'll have plenty to do. There is also an extensive Pokemon comuter. Oh yeah, in the battles you cannot use items. Don't worry if you don't have any pokemon that comply with restrictions, as the pak comes with every pokemon (minus Mewtwo and Mew) at the levels you can use.
Overall: 9
Overall this game gives the most bang for your buck. Chock full of game modes and mini-games, plus it comes with the transfer pak. All Pokemon lovers will want this.
