"A pretty nice RC game..."

Re-Volt is one of those games where you race RC cars around a track. Now, many people probably would think of "Micro Machines" or "Hot Wheels" when they hear "toy cars", but this game is far different than those games I've played. Overall, I think this game is pretty fun. It can be very annoying at times, but the game's realism makes up for the migraines.

Graphics: 7/10

The graphics of the cars themselves are fine, but the graphics of the environments can be pretty bland...sometimes pretty bad. Otherwise, the graphics are nice for an N64 game. Although I have a PS2 (and my brother, a Gamecube), I still come back and play this game because it's pretty nice game for an old-school game.

Controls: 8/10

The controls are solid. I had no real problems with the controls themselves; however, the realism starts to kick in. In this game it's pretty easy to spin out if you try to take a corner to fast, or you hit a wall at high-speed with the side of your car. The biggest complaint one will have is just that. Otherwise, the game's controls are responsive. Furthermore, each car has its own type of handling. Some cars can turn on a dime, while others need more effort to navigate around a U-turn. That sense of control is what gives Re-volt its unique feel to RC racing.

Reply Value: 9/10

It's reply value is pretty high in my standards. Not only do you have alot of tasks to accomplish (such as getting stars in practice mode), but you have a track creator. The Track Creator will allow you to come up with some new tracks; however, some of the models that they give you can get pretty old. I found good uses for those models, and I am sure anyone with a creative imagination will find good uses for those models too. Once you unlock everything, you'll be able to race in different kinds of conditions (such as mirrored mode or reverse mode...or even both).

Overall, Re-Volt is a nice game to play. Although I gave this game some good merit, I suggest you rent this game first before you buy it. Although I am somewhat a pro at this game (not really lol), you may be able to finish all the Championship Races all in one day. Of all the racing games I've played (that are really serious like Grand Tarismo) this is one of my favorite racers to play.
