"WWF Attitude is a good game, but could've been better!"

In August of 1998, the much-anticipated WWF Warzone was released sporting the best graphics any wrestling game had to offer. The game was great for its time, leaving us thinking how great the sequel would be. A few months later we heard about the sequel WWF Attitude. Acclaim hyped this game more than ANY other game known to mankind. However, did it live up to its hype?

Well, Acclaim told us about all 21 modes and all of the great features and that it would have a full season mode. I couldn't wait, delay after delay, I was waiting having faith it would come out the next day. 3 months after its first delay WWF Attitude was finally released for the n64. Many magazines were saying it would be the best game ever! Was it? Ummm, NO.

First off, the graphics in this game are GREAT, better than any other wrestling game. Everything is well detailed, including the crowd. Austin had his knee brace, Undertaker had his tatoos, etc...! The only thing that brings down the score a notch is that WWF Attitude didn't feel like a wrestling game. The arenas were NOTHING like the real arenas. However, the graphics were nonetheless great.

The sound in Attitude is excellent, but not the best. The crowd has chants but they don't cheer at the right moments! They don't even cheer when you do your finisher! Oh well, what can you do about it? The wrestlers all have voice-overs, but the voice sounds a bit weird in my view. The announcers in Attitude have some great lines, but they don't even call the moves! Oh, ya, and they repeat what they said the first time every 4th or 5th time. However, sound doesn't make a game, so this department didn't really bring down the score.

Now for the actual gameplay, let me first warn you that this department without a shadow of a doubt SUCKS! The matches aren't actually even close to a real match, I'd trade the health meter for Wrestlemania's spirit meter ANY time! The actual moves really suck. Because they used motion capturing the games really, really SLOW! For Pete's sake, the Rock doesn't even have his peoples elbow and Bradhsaw doesn't even have the clothesline from hell. Now as for the actual controls: Combos are just not fun anymore. After playing Revenge or Wrestlemania 2000, you'd see how much more fun the grappling system is. Oh ya, and the combo system is crap when you play Multi-Player! Wrestlemania 2000's controls are easy to get used to and are great for multi-player.

Replay value in this game is medium rare in my opinion. There are a huge amount of modes including a season mode, survivor series, Triple Threat, Cage matches, and even Hardcore matches. However, these matches just aren't fun considering the gameplay is horrible. If you put all of these modes in Wrestlemania 2000 then by frankly, you'd have the best game EVER!!!!!!!!!!! However, this is Attitude and these modes just aren't fun with the crappy gameplay.

Compared to other games:

WCW Nitro: PIECE of GARBAGE. Stay away if u know whats good for you.

WCW Mayhem: Gameplay is OK, but lacks depth and the game is full of bugs. Worth a rental and maybe a purchase.

WCW vs. nWo World TOUR: Great gameplay, very outdated now though. Try this out if you like, but its outdated.

WCW/nWo Revenge: Great gameplay. Best WCW game on the market, feels outdated too though, but still, you can't go wrong!

WWF Warzone: This was great! Prequel to Attitude. But since Warzone wasn't as hyped it didn't feel like such a let down. Now it sucks, but back then it was definitely worth a purchase.

WWF Attitude: OK game, but gameplay needs tweaking, some bugs, NOT fun for multiplayer though. I say rent this one first if you don't want to be dissapointed.

WWF Wrestlemania 2000: BEST wrestling game for the n64 today. Very FUN. You can't go wrong with it. Do not hesitate to buy this game. Multiplayer here RULES! (Read my review for it to see how you can't go wrong!)

Overall:

Graphics: 9/10
Sound: 6.5/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Replay Value: 6.5/10
