WWF War Zone
Review by Dave 008 Bond
"Dont ignore this because it is old,it is very fun."
Inroduction
Here it is, Acclaims first wrestling game for the Nintendo 64, WWF Warzone! It is very, very fun to play and is better than its sequel, WWF Attitude. The game has wrestling greats, Like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Micheals and also has lesser know wrestlers like Thrasher and Mosh. The games main highlight is the weapons match. You can humiliate your enemy, with Weapons! This is not bad for a wrestling game of its time. I suggest you try this game out, it is a lot more than most games.
Graphics 9/10
These are almost perfect. The wrestlers look detailed and are candy to your eyes. The arena looks fine, exept for that awful Titantron.
Story N/A
It is a wrestling game, it does not have a story.
Sound 10/10
Not bad, in fact it is GREAT! The sounds are fantastic, from the ''Clang!'' from when you hit a wrestler with the ringbell, to the wrestlers grunts from when you put them in a submission hold. The highlight of the sound is the announcers, Jim Ross and Vince McMahon. They are quite funny and make the sound experience loads better. You may find yourself laughing in the middle of a match.
Gameplay 9/10
This is the one of the funnest games you can play. You select your moves and it is a brawl to the end. The matches have a lot of heat, especially in multiplayer. But the match you will most enjoy is the weapons match. It is a normal match exept there are weapons every where. You can slam these weapons into your opponent, and he falls down with a satifying THUD. You will have a even more intense fight with your friend here. But I give this a nine for a reason. In tag team match, it is very hard to tag your partner. Aside from that small problem, the gameplay is one of the best for the Nintendo 64. On to Controls.
Controls 8/10
For a button combo game, this sure is good. The controls are responsive and the moves are not too hard to do. I mark a point off because the finisher are not on the move list and are very hard to do. I mark another point off because of the tag team problem.
Replay Value 7/10
Ok after you have finished the Career mode and gotten all the secrets this does become boring. But you probably will occausionaly drop in to play the weapons match. There is also a Create A Wrestler feature, which is very fun.
Challenge 7/10
The computer is pretty stupid, even on hard. Although sometimes the computer loves to send you on suicide
matches in career mode, like fighting Kane in a cage.
Buy or Rent?
Rent first and then if you like it rent it. This is way too good to ignore.
Overall 9/10
Acclaims first,( and best) wrestling game is a must play for any WWF fan. It is a shame that this games sequel, WWF Attitude is not as good as this.
