"Simply the best not-online FPS ever made!"

By the time I'm making this review, I'm 21 years old. Back when I was 9 years old, the year where GoldenEye was released for the same console, I hated the FPS genre. I wasn't really in violent games at all. So upon the release of this game, back in late 2000 (I was 12 years old) I completely skipped this game. However, a certain friend of mine made me try MoH: Allied Assault for the PC when I was 14 years old. That game made me want to try other FPS, so that friend lent me The World Is Not Enough for the N64. I Instantly loved it!

After playing the game, I went to my local Video Rental store, and rented Both the Movie and game of GoldenEye as well as the Movie The World Is not enough (Will be known as TWINE from now on). I decided to Give GoldenEye a second chance. After Watching both movies back to back, then played a bit of both games, I noticed MANY flaws in GoldenEye (Will be known as GE from now on) which makes me wonder why the heck is GE more popular than TWINE?

Graphics: 8/10 (10/10 with Expention pak)

Simply great, without expention pak, this game's graphics are about the same as GE, which admitably, weren't bad, however, with the Expention pak, you can notice a slighty, but still significan upgrade in graphics, especially when It comes to gun models. The maps looks nicer than GE (Although I'll admit that most GE multiplayer maps were great) The characters model, however, with or without expention pak, look MUCH better in TWINE than GE.

Sound And music: 10/10

I could just go and say ''Voice acting, end of story'' but that'd make too short of a review. But seriously, TWINE has the voice acting that GE lacks. And they (mostly) used the same actors (Yes, even Pierce Brosnan) to make the voice acting in this game. Also, unlike a certain reviewer here (who shall remain unnamed) who claimed that we never hear the Movie theme, I can tell you that we definitely hear the TWINE theme, In fact, the title theme IS some kind of remix of the theme heard several times during the movie. The music in general is also better, and have more variety than GE (although again, I'll admit that some GE game song were great)

Gameplay

Because most FPS have so many gameplay elements, I'll separate this section into 3 sub sections

Single Player: 9/10

Like I said, there's voice acting during gameplay (and not only during cutscenes) And Unlike GE, where once you get spotted, every soldier in the area starts to shoot you, once you're spotted, the guy who spots you will either fight alone, or attract other people by saying ''BOND IS HERE!''. Of course, shooting also helps you get spotted! What I mean is that the AI is better here. Only the people who spotted you/have been warned by other villain will attack you. The story is also much more respectful to the movie, unlike GE. I remember in GE, you went to the Bunker TWICE, while in the movie, 007 never went there once, also the place where you meet Natalya was criminaly wrong. In this game, there's truly only 2 levels that doesn't respect the movie (Thames chasse and Underground Uprising) and even then, they were merly added scene to the part when you chace the cigar girl. Otherwise, beside some minor facts, the story is well respected in TWINE. Also, the reload animation... people will say it's irrevelant, but reload animation is a VERY important thing. It didn't made sence that in GE, I would only take half a second to reload a Rocket Luncher. In this game (barring in multiplayer) you actually see Bond Reload the guns he is equiped with.

Multyplayer: 10/10

Flawless. Simply flawless! The multiplayer makes a lot of sence (litarraly) Like: You can't have 2 good chararacter fight againts each other (the opposite is possible though) Alsi, there's AI!!!! Athing that GE lacked was AI. And to top it, EVery characters' AI work differently to make sence. SO if you play free-for all agiants let's say: Bond, Gabor and a civilian, you'll most likely get killed more often by Either Bond or Gabor, since in the movie they were professional Spy/Bodyguard respctively. The character not only change difficulty, but how they act in the fight. Remember how Bullion was a gold/money freak in the movies? Well, his AI is set so he will spend more time collecting weapon and stuff then fight. That was just an exemple. Also, no Golden Gun. Boy did I hate my my brother set the weapons with the Golden gun un GE.

Unlockables: 10/10

Of course, unlockables almost always play an important role in many games. In GE, the only thing you could unlock was Cheats. As well as a special mode if you finished every single mission in all difficulty modes. In TWINE, you get much more cool stuff, including new characters ( Remember, each character have a different AI set so it IS revelent to get more characters) New maps (not only the maps gotten trhough playing normally, like in GE) and even new modes and new weapons! Of course, cheat abuser will prefer the cheats unlocked in GE, but to most people who don't linke to cheat, Multyplayer stuff is more rewarding) The way to obtain the unlockable is the same as in GE: Finish a specific level at a specific difficulty uner a certain time limit. It must be mention that most (if not ALL) levels where there's an unlockable at Agent (Easy) or Secret agent (Medium) difficulties, there will be another unlockable at higher difficulty (Secret Agent or 00 Agent(hard)) meaning that even if TWINE has less levels than GE, it got as many (if not more) unlockable stuff.

Controls: 10/10

Well, the only true strong point that both GE and TWINE share is controls. In both games, they are great, so I'm not going to complain.

Overall: 10/10

If you still have your old N64, and looking for a good FPS to play with your friend, get TWINE. It only requires 2 blocks on your memory card, and With all the unlockables, multiplayer is going to take a lot of your time. Definitely buy it.
