Welcome to my first walkthrough. This is my second favorite game ever, and
I'm really good at it, so I thought it would be a great game to
do my first Walkthrough on. First off, this walkthrough will get you
everything in the game. So if you want to beat this game with all the
upgrades, you're in the right place. But remember, getting everything
in this game will NOT affect your ending. Endings are based on time only.

1) Versions  ----------------------------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

    *** Version 1.0 ***

January 15, 2006 - On January 21, 2006, I submit my first guide to Neoseekers!
                   It gets accepted! YAY!

January 16, 2006 - I submit this to GameFAQs! Acceptance!

   *** Version 1.1 ***

January 21, 2006 - The guide has been submitted and accepted at HonestGamers! On
                   top of that, I changed the welcome speech, and made a small
                   correction.

   *** Version 1.2 ***

I lost the date! - Not much here. Just fixing a few little things here and
                   there.

   *** Version 1.3 ***

I lost the date! - Man, I am stupid! I told you all to go in the wrong direction
                   a couple of times. Oh well, it's fixed now! I also fixed a
                   couple of grammar mistakes.

   *** Version 2.0 ***

May 9, 2006 - I got sick of the old section markers, so I redid them. They look
              LOADS better. I rewrote everything before the Table of Contents as
              well. It's a much better intro; way more welcoming. The guide has
              pretty much been rewritten. I changed so much. Several mistakes
              have been fixed, both in my grammar and my instructions. Also, I
              divided the Power Ups section into two different sections; one for
              Energy Box locations, and one for the Missile Expansion locations.
              It really should have been that way from the start.

   *** Version 2.1 ***

May, 2006 - 1UP.com is now hosting this guide! I have also changed the Missile
            Expansion and the Energy Box sections. Now it's organized by
            location, rather than in the order you can get them. I also
            organized the info differently. Instead of just having it all
            listed in a few sentences, Each description is divided into two
            sections: Items Needed, and Location. Again, it really should have
            been like this from the beginning.

   *** Version 2.2 ***

September 10, 2007 - It has been FOREVER since I last updated! It has been over
                     a year since I last made any changes! I'd say it's overdue!

                     Lot of changes. I dug through the whole guide and put a
                     huge effort into making it perfect. I played through the
                     whole game twice, using my own guide and a map to weed out
                     every last mistake. I had already fixed nearly all of them,
                     but there were still a few. Also, I finally added in the
                     code for the best ending (see the ending section if you
                     have no idea what I'm talking about).

                     I added a few little features to the walkthrough. For
                     example, instead of dragging everyone along through the
                     process of getting every last thing, I put little boxed
                     passages giving directions to all the expansions. If you
                     don't want to go through the trouble of getting all the
                     extra expansions, then you can just skip the boxed text.

                     I made a "Frequently Asked Questions" section. Odd that I
                     only just now put it into my FAQ. I also added this section
                     to highlight the different versions I've made. It serves no
                     real purpose, but it's still fun to read!

                     If you have a question, you can E-mail me. I'm still here!

   *** Version 2.3 ***

May 26, 2008 - I had meant to make this update on the guide's 2nd birthday, but
               I forgot. Before I knew it, a couple of months had passed! My
               bad. It's not a huge deal, though. I've done worse (I'm looking
               at YOU, my year old rewritten and still unreleased Metroid Prime
               Hunters guide). >_>

               It's kind of funny; my last update bragged about how removed
               virtually every mistake in the guide. This is true for the
               walkthrough portion of the guide, yet the very same version entry
               claiming that the guide was now flawless was plauged with grammar
               mistakes. Oops!

               It's fixed now, and I also fixed the broken "Table of
               Contents." Putting a section's name and number into the find box
               didn't work because I numbered it wrong. I also changed some of
               the section names to make mor sense. They were fine before but
               now they are even better!

               This version also has two new reader tips hidden within. Credit
               goes to Dan Mesey and Brian. I always love to hear from readers,
               so mail me about my Metroid guide. I might not get back to you
               right away, depending upon whether or not I feel like booting up
               the computer after work. What's important is that I will
               eventually! =)

   *** Version 2.31 (Current Version) ***

May 30, 2008 - Mount Metroid is now permitted to use this guide. It's a nice
               little site dedicated to the Metroid series. You should check it
               out sometime.

               http://www.mountmetroid.com/

               This got me thinking about how I could support smaller sites like
               this. The answer is simple: Put the site's URL at the beginning
               of the walkthrough, by the copyright notice. I'll be doing that
               from now on.

               Also, I changed the way I use version numbers. Now it uses an
               additional decimal place. It's not important.

2) Storyline  ---------------------------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

In the year 2000 of the history of the cosmos, representatives from the many
different planets in the galaxy established a congress called the Galactic
Federation, and an age of prosperity began. A successful exchange of cultures
and civilization resulted, and thousands of interstellar spaceships ferried
back and forth between planets. But Space-Pirates also appeared to attack the
spaceships. The Federation Bureau created the Galactic Federation Police, but
the Pirates' attacks were powerful and it was not easy to catch them in the
vastness of space. The Federation Bureau and the Federation Police called
together warriors known for their great courage and sent them to do battle with
the Pirates. These great warriors were called "Space Hunters." They received
large rewards when they captured Pirates, and made their living as space bounty
hunters. It is now year 20X5 of the history of the cosmos, and something
terrible has happened. Space Pirates have attacked a deep-space research
spaceship and seized a capsule containing an unknown life form that had just
been discovered on Planet SR388. This life-form is in a state of suspended
animation, but can be reactivated and will multiply when exposed to beta rays
for 24 hours. It is suspected that the entire civilization of Planet SR388 was
destroyed by some unknown person or thing, and there is a strong possibility
that the life form just discovered was the cause of the planet's destruction. To
carelessly let it multiply would be extremely dangerous. The Federation
researchers had named it "METROID" and were bringing it back to Earth when it
was stolen by the space pirates! If METROID is multiplied by the Space Pirates
and then used as a weapon, the entire galactic civilization will be destroyed.
After a desperate search, the Federation Police have at last found the Pirates'
headquarters, the fortress planet Zebes, and launched a general attack. But the
Pirates' resistance is strong, and the Police have been unable to take the
planet. Meanwhile, in a room hidden deep within the center of the fortress, the
preparations for multiplying the METROID are progressing steadily. As a last
resort, the Federation Police have decided on this strategy: to send a space
hunter to penetrate the center of the fortress and destroy the Mother Brain. The
space hunter chosen for this mission is Samus Aran. Samus is the greatest of all
the space hunters and has successfully completed numerous missions that everyone
thought were absolutely impossible. Samus is a cyborg, who's entire body has
been surgically strengthened with robotics, giving Samus superpowers. Even the
space pirates fear this space suit, which can absorb any enemy's power. But
Samus' true form is shrouded in mystery. The planet Zebes is a natural fortress.
Its sides are covered with a special kind of stone, and its interior is a
complicated maze. On top of that, the pirates have planted devices and booby
traps in the maze, and the pirates' eerie followers lie in wait around every
corner. Samus has now succeeded in penetrazing Zebes. But time is running out.
Will Samus be able to destroy the METROID and save the galaxy?

4) Walkthrough  -------------------------------------------------------------
   4.1) Part 1: Starting Out  -----------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

To avoid confusion, I would like to explain my writing style. When I say
something like "Keep going to the right," I really mean keep going right within
that same room. If I want you to go into a new room, I'll say something like
"Go through the door on the right", "DOOR" being the key word.

Basically, only go into a new room if I tell you to. Now lets get started!

+============+
Brinstar
+============+

Ok, start out by going to the left and jumping over the big rock. On the other
side is a shiny ball. Touch it to get the Maru Mari (Morph ball). The Maru Mari
lets you curl up into a ball and roll through areas that are too small to just
walk through. Next, head to the right. You can't jump back over the big rock, so
push down on the Directional Pad (D-Pad) to go into Morphball mode, and roll
under it. Continue heading right past where we started, while dodging any
creatures you may encounter.

If you want to kill the things on the roof, then walk under them. They will try
to fall on you, so aim up and rapidly tap the B Button to kill them. The green
ones go down in two shots, but any blue ones you may encounter will take four
shots. You should attempt to kill all of them in order to gain more energy. In
case you don't know, energy (health) appears as a purplish blob. You can see how
much health you have by simply looking at the number in the upper left corner of
the TV screen.

When you get to the end of the room, jump onto the platform against the wall and
shoot at the blue patch. That's a door, and you open it by shooting at it. Run
across this seemingly small room and go through the door on the right.

In this room, there might be two monsters hanging from the ceiling. You could
either drop down and run like hell, or you could drop down, aim up, and tap the
B Button to rapidly fire at them. I recommend the second choice, because if you
run like hell, you might run into another walking enemy. Continue going to the
right, using the Morphball to go through the tiny tunnel in the wall.

Once on the other side of the tunnel, you will encounter a giant fly-like enemy.
To avoid it (please just avoid it), just jump over it as it swoops down at you.
If you really want to kill it, though, just nail it with four shots when it
swoops down. If it goes too low to shoot, just do a small jump to lure it back
up into the air. Once you're done killing it (or avoiding it), go through the
door.

You should now be in a long vertical room. Climb the platforms while killing
any creatures you come across for energy. Go through the first door on your
right. Run across the screen and head through the next door as well. You should
now be in a yellow vertical room. Drop to the bottom and go through the door on
the right. There will be many enemies in here, so be careful. Go to the right
and when you come to a pit of acid, use the pillars as platforms and jump onto
the pack of Missiles on the second pillar (MAX 5). To use the Missiles, push
Select. To switch back to your beam gun, push Select again. To see how many
Missiles you have, look below your health in the upper left corner of your TV.
You only have five Missiles and you need them all, so don't use them yet. Go
back to the left and leave the room.

Now head back up and go through the first door on the left. Go left again. Now
you should be in the first vertical shaft. Go up and through the first door on
the left. If the music changes, then you are in the right place. Go to the left.
If you can, try to jump over all of those fly-like things when they swoop down
at you. When you get to then end of the room, push Select to activate your
Missiles and shoot the red door five times to open it. wait for all those short
creatures to walk by before you go through the door, or you will be trapped
between doors with them. This will cause MASSIVE DAMAGE.

After you go through the door, shoot the blue orb. It will change. Touch it to
get the Long Beam. The Long Beam lets your gun shoot bullets all the way across
the room. It automatically takes effect, so you don't have to worry about
activating it.

Go back through the door on the right. Cross this room and go through the next
door as well. Drop down the shaft and go through the first (and only) door on
your right. And through the next door too. Now you should be in the orange shaft
again. Go straight ahead through the door across from you. Go through this room
heading right while avoiding all the stupid green things. Keep going right
through all of the doors until you come across your first Energy Box (ENERGY
BOX 1). It lets you have 100 more energy points. It will appear on screen as a
small square over your health. Think of it as more of a reserve tank. When it
has been used, the square will be empty.

Continue going right through all the doors until you hit another orange vertical
shaft. Go up and through the first door on your left. The music should change.
Now, ask yourself this: do I have five missiles? If you don't have five
Missiles, you can walk back and forth across this room, killing the enemies for
ammo. If you do, go to the left and through the red door. Anyway, once you go
through the red door, you will see another orb. Shoot it to get the Bombs. Bombs
can be used to kill enemies, but the primary function of the Bomb is to blow
open paths in certain areas. To use, go into Morphball Mode and push the
B button to lay a bomb.

Anyway, go right through both doors. Now drop to the bottom of the shaft and go
through the door on the left. Keep going through all the doors until you're at
the very first YELLOW shaft. Drop down to the bottom and go through the door to
the right. Cross through this room and go through the next door. On the other
side of the door is the elevator to Norfair. To activate it, stand on it and
press down on the D-Pad.

+=======================================+
4.2) Part 2: Completing Norfair  ----
+=======================================+

+===========+
Norfair
+===========+

Ok, don't go on through Norfair unless you have gotten the above items first.
You will be using them many times throughout the rest of your trip. At the end
of a major part in the game, I will provide an updated checklist like the one
above. The only things on there that you can or should skip are the Missiles and
the Energy Boxes.

Anyway, drop down and go through the door on the left. Jump over the platforms
while either avoiding the enemies or killing them for health. You will
eventually come across a badly needed Missile Expansion (MAX 10). Continue going
left. When you get to a small pit with a flat red blob shooting at you, just go
into Morphball mode and roll next to the blob. Now lay a bomb. When it explodes,
you will be pushed into the air. Hold left to fly over the blob. You won't be
hurt by the creature flying in the air when you do this. Once on the other side
of the red blob, stand up and jump out of the pit. Use this trick whenever you
need to pass one of these pits.

Go stand next to the wall and use the Maru Mari to roll through a hidden tunnel
in the wall. When you stop rolling, lay a bomb to destroy a hidden block.
Continue going left and walk through the door.

Drop down to the bottom of this small room and go through the door. Hop over the
platforms and you will come across another Missile expansion (MAX 15). Head back
to the left and go through the door. Climb up to the top of the room using the
red balls as platforms. The bugs might get in the way, so here's another tip. It
is easier to climb up the orbs if both bugs are on the left side. The bottom bug
already is. To move the top bug to the left side of the orb, wait until it is
directly between the wall and the orb and is facing towards the orb. When it
gets to this position, shoot the top orb from underneath. Now wait. The orb
should reappear while the bug is on the left side of it. Anyway, climb up to the
top of the room and go through the upper door. Bomb through the purple wall and
continue going right. Go through the door at the end.

Now you should be back in the room with the elevator. Go through the door on the
right. There will be a purple bat in the way. What you could do to kill it is to
stand next to the door and hold the B button to rapidly fire at it. A better
way to go about killing it is to stand as close to the edge as you can without
falling into the lava. One well-timed Missile is all you need. After you kill
it, begin traveling to the right and kill everything else that you see to gain
more health. Use bombs to get the ones on the ground. When you go through the
door at the end, you will be in a big purple shaft. CAREFULLY drop down to the
bottom and bomb the second block of floor from the right. Drop down though the
new hole and keep bombing your way to the end. Once through the floor, drop down
the shaft and go through the first door on your left. The music should change.
Jump over the platforms and go through the red door at the end to find the High
Jump. This lets you jump higher and farther. It equips automatically.

Make your way back to the purple vertical room on the right. Now go up to the
roof of this room (the floor of the old room) and shoot the second block of the
roof from the right. Jump up into the small vertical tunnel over and over again
until the block you shot reappears. If you're above the block when it reappears
you can continue to shoot up and jump out. If you're below, just keep trying. It
reappears after about 7 seconds. Once in the top part of the room, climb up to
the top and go through the door at the top (fourth door on the left). Climb to
the left, killing anything for health. At the end of this room are three Missile
Expansions (MAX 30). YAY!!! Now leave the room the way you came.

Ok, jump up into the upper right corner of the screen and shoot the second block
of roof from the right. Jump up through the new gap using the same method as
before. Go through the door on the left. Go left through this room to receive
two more Missile upgrades (MAX 40). Next, lay a bomb up against the purple wall
at the end of the room to open up a secret passage. Go through the secret
tunnel. When you get to the other side of the wall, you'll encounter these
gnarly orbs. Take out your Missiles and shoot each of them once to kill them,
then go through the door.

You should now be in a purple shaft with no platforms. Drop to the bottom while
hugging the wall on the right, and go through the only other door. Quickly take
out your Missiles and let those orbs have it! Jump over the gap and bomb the
wall at its base. It will have another hidden passage in it. Go through to find
the Ice Beam! This handy item lets you freeze enemies and then use them as a
platform. The freezing effect is only temporary though.

Leave through the red door. Jump across this room onto the single block platform
sticking out of the wall. WITHOUT jumping, shoot straight into the wall to open
up a passage, and then roll into a ball and lay a bomb. When the bomb blows up,
it will push you into the air. As you are pushed into the air, hold the D-Pad to
the right to land in the tunnel. Go through the door on the other side.

Drop down to the bottom of the room (don't bomb the floor). Now, if you want two
missile expansions, then follow the directions in the box. If not, skip the box
and continue on. They are hard to get and you'll probably die a bunch of times.
But if you skip it now, you won't be able to get them until you near the end of
the game. The choice is yours.

+==============================================================================+
Go through the door on the left. Jump across to the other side of the room
and use a bomb to jump into the tunnel when you get to a purple wall. Once
on the other side of the wall, make your way to the left. Start out by
dropping to the bottom of this area. Freeze the orb, then shoot it with a
Missile. Now, the easiest way to get past here is to stand next to the pit
of lava and aim up. Shoot the creature that's flying back and forth from
left to right when it's directly above you. Now go stand on top of it and
shoot at the creature that's jumping in and out of the lava. Jump onto the
second creature and over the wall. Do that a second time, then treat
yourself to two more Missile Expansions (MAX 50). Now leave the room the way
we came.
+==============================================================================+

Bomb the floor in the same place as last time (Two blocks from the right), and
enter the lower portion of Norfair. Go through the first door on the left.

The music should change. Make your way to the left and go through the door. You
should now be back in the room where we got the High Jump boots. Go into
Morphball mode, roll under the small overhang, and lay two bombs. Continue going
to the left. In here, you need to freeze the enemies and use them as platforms
to jump over the wall. Then use the little bubbles as platforms. It's easier
than it looks. Just jump and THEN push to the side on the D-Pad, so you don't
spin out of control. Go through the next three doors.

You should now be in a green room. Go up to the top right corner of the room and
shoot the second block of roof from the right. Go up and through the door on the
left. Jump across the room and go through the red door. Inside is the mighty
Screw Attack! When you spin jump (jump while holding left or right) it will
activate, killing anything you touch in midair. Now go to the right through
both doors. You should be back in the green room again. Bomb down through the
floor to get back to the part of this room where we first entered. Bomb down
again to find a new part of this room. Go through the door on the right.

In this room, you have to jump across the small blocks to get to the other side.
I find it easier to use the top blocks, so you don't have to worry about any
blocks above you restricting your movement. Also, don't spin when you jump. This
gives you more control. After going to the right for a while, you will have to
bomb through the wall. Continue going right and exit through the door. This room
may appear to be a dead end, but it isn't. Go into Morphball mode and roll up
against the door. Now bomb the floor. Drop down and walk into the lava. Don't
worry; it won't hurt you! Now shoot the wall on the right. A block will
disappear. Walk through the wall where the block used to be. You'll fall down to
the bottom part of this room.

Go through the only door. Make your way to the right, jumping over all the
platforms. When you hit a dead end, just shoot the wall and use a bomb to push
you through the hole. Then hop up the pillars to get to the Energy Box (ENERGY
BOX 2).

Now go back to the right and leave this room. Next, go under the block you shot.
Aim up and shoot it again. Then jump up and into the fake lava. Now walk left
and underneath the door. Aim up and destroy the block, then jump out and go
through the door. Make your way left through this room. To get through
the wall, jump onto the single block platform against the wall. Lay a bomb and
hold left to be pushed up into another tunnel. Continue going left through all
the doors until you get to a vertical room with a lava pit. Walk into the lava
(it's also fake) and bomb the left side of the pit. At the bottom of the room we
just bombed ourselves into is a door on the right. Go through it.

When you get to the big red box, shoot the top so you can jump onto it and get
pass it easier. Same goes for the second block. Go through the door. Bomb the
second or third block from the right and drop down into the newly discovered
room. At the bottom is a door leading to the right. Through that door are two
Missile Expansions (MAX 60). Now climb back up the shaft and go through the door
on the right. When you get to a bunch of narrow pillars that you must pass, be
careful. If you fall between them into a lava pit, then you are doomed. There
is no escape. Or is there? Some of them can be escaped if you use an advanced
technique to jump farther. Lay a bomb, and then stand up. When it explodes, it
will push you into the air. When you are at the peak of this small jump, jump
again by using the A button. You should go just high enough to get out of the
pit. This doesn't work on all of the pits, though. Some pillars are too tall.

When you get to the end of the room, go through the next door. Enter Morphball
mode and roll up against the door. Lay a bomb and drop down into the lava pit.
The lava is fake (again), so don't worry. Go through the only door. The music
should change. Head left and go through the next door to get the Wave Beam. It's
a beam that goes through walls. Its wave-like motion lets you attack creatures
walking on the ground in front of you. Plus, it's the most powerful beam in the
game. Only Missiles and the Screw attack are more powerful. However, it cancels
out the Ice Beam. You can get the Ice Beam again when you need it (and you will
need it), but then it will cancel out the Wave Beam. For now, we'll keep this
wonderful item.

Anyway, head right through both of the doors. Jump up through the false lava,
and go through the door on the right. Now hop over the platforms and the big red
boxes. On the second box you need to roll against the wall and bomb twice.
Continue to right and grab the pack of Missiles (MAX 65).

CONGRATS! You are now done with the hardest part of the game: Norfair. We need
to go back to Brinstar. You are more than welcome to go back on your own if you
remember how! If you want, you could also commit suicide. Killing yourself will
place you right where you need to go: back at the elevator to Brinstar. If you
would rather save all your health and walk back the way you came, then read the
following boxed a

+==============================================================================+
OK. Go left all the way through all the doors. You should be in a green
vertical shaft. Go up it, shooting at/around the left side of the roof to
continue. Go all the way up and through the door at the top. Now go all the
way right until you can't go farther. You should now be in the first purple
vertical shaft of Norfair. Shoot through the right side of the roof and
jump up through the hole and through the second door on the left. Go left
while jumping over the platforms and Screw Attacking anything with the
nerve to get in your way. Through the next door is the elevator to
Brinstar. Take it.

WOOT! That was the longest part of the game, and in my opinion, the most
challenging! But what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. And you're almost
unstoppable. Congrats for making it this far!

4.3) Part 3: Defeating Kraid  -------
+=======================================+

+============+
Brinstar
+============+

Norfair is the biggest area in the game, and it's also one of the toughest. I
bet you're glad to have it out of your way. Before we head towards our next
destination, we need to pick up an important upgrade. Without it, you will have
an extremely hard time defeating the first and most challenging boss of the
game.

First, leave the elevator room. Continue traveling to the left while Screw
Attacking anything in your way, and go through the next door. Next, climb up to
the top of this room and go through the SECOND DOOR on your right. DON'T GO
THROUGH THE FIRST DOOR ON YOUR RIGHT! It's a somewhat common mistake that people
make while using this guide. Remember to go to the very top!

You should be in a green room. Make your way to the right while jumping over the
metal pillars. Bomb your way past the orange blocks. Rolling through the top
tube, then go through the door farther to the right. Kill the enemy in here with
two shots from the Wave Beam, then shoot straight up through the middle of the
roof. You will need to jump up right before the blocks start to reappear. The
blocks reappear after seven seconds, so count to six and jump. Hopefully they'll
form around you, leaving you free to shoot up and jump to freedom. Once up here,
stand as far to the left as you can without falling into the invisible pit, then
jump up toward the door in the wall to the left. Go through it, and go through
the next door as well to get the Varia Suit! This suit of armor will cut the
amount of damage received in half.

Now go to the right through both doors and bomb your way down through the middle
of the floor. Next, go through the door on the right. Continue to the right
through this room to get another Missile upgrade (MAX 70). Keep going to the
right and you'll end up at what appears to be a dead end. Just walk right up
against the wall and shoot up. Jump up and walk to the right. Now you'll be in a
small enclosed area. Use a bomb to jump up into a hidden tunnel in the wall on
the right. Roll through it to find an Energy Box (ENERGY BOX 3). Now go to the
left, bomb jumping into the tunnel, then jumping against the left wall to
continue. Keep going left through all the doors until you're in the vertical
room.

Drop down and go through the first and only door on the left. Go through the
next door, then go down the blue shaft. At the bottom, go through the door on
the left. Go through this room and into the next. Bomb through the floor and
drop down to the bottom of this room. Go through the right door. You should be
in an elevator room. Go down.

+================+
Kraid's Lair
+================+

This place was fun for me to figure out, and it has my favorite music in the
whole game. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Well, lets get started. Go down and through the first red door you see.
Carefully head right and pick up a Missile Tank (MAX 75). Do NOT continue going
to the right, because there is nothing there. Just leave this room the way you
came. Now go through the blue door directly to the left of the room you were
just in. Travel left and go into Morphball mode to get through the hidden tunnel
in the wall. On the other side is a Missile Expansion (MAX 80). Continue going
left and exit through the door. You should now be in a long vertical room. Drop
down to the bottom (the first pit of lava is fake) and go through the door on
the right. Continue traveling to the right through two more doors.

In this room is a Missile upgrade (MAX 85). Those Missile Expansions are really
adding up.

Now is an extremely good place to save and quit. You probably want to go into
the boss battle with full health. So what you should do is kill yourself and get
the save code, that way every time you start out, you will have done everything
in Kraid's Lair, and will only have to travel to the boss room. On your way to
the boss room you will get an Energy Box, which will fill up all of your health
just in time for the first boss fight. If you die, just put in the old save code
and get the Energy Tank all over again. If you insist on not dieing, then read
the boxed passage to get to the next Energy Box.

+==============================================================================+
Continue going right and head through the next door. Go up and through the
only other door. Next, cross this small room and go through the next door.
Repeatedly shoot through the wall in the middle of the room to kill off any
enemies crawling on it. Remember, the Wave beam goes through walls, so you
should also kill the ones on the outside of the wall. Go stand on the single
block sticking out to the side, and enter Morphball Mode. Use a bomb to jump
over the wall. It's a big jump, so lay multiple bombs. Roll out from
underneath and go through the door on the left. Cross this room and go
through the next door. Now climb up to the top of this room and go through
the door on the right. Go through the next door as well. Climb up towards
the top of this room and stop at the elevator.
+==============================================================================+

You should now be at the beginning of Kraid's Lair, either because you killed
yourself or because you read the box above.

Drop down and go through the second door on the right. Continue traveling to the
right, and you should soon find a wall. Stand on the single block sticking out
of its side, and shoot the wall. This should remove the block blocking the
tunnel that we must pass through. Use a bomb to jump into it.

This is supposed to be a puzzle, I guess. Roll to the right and jump to safety.
Now go up and to the left as far as you can without entering Morphball mode. Now
go into Morphball mode and use a bomb to jump over the first wall and carefully
fall into the Energy Box (ENERGY BOX 4). Now be quick about this next part! Run
right and into the lava. As soon as you're in, jump out and onto the single
block next to you. You will lose one, maybe two health points. If you're quick,
you might not lose any health at all. Jump onto land, then go up and to the
left. Bomb jump into the gap between the highest pillar and the ceiling. Now
roll over the pillars to the left. You should land next to the wall with the
hidden tunnel. To leave, we are going to jump back up onto the first pillar and
roll as fast as we can to the left, while trying to hit the wall. If you do, you
will go through it, which is much easier than using a bomb to jump into it.

Leave this room and go down the shaft. Try to fall on the platforms to the right
side of the screen. When you get to the part where a wall divides the room in
half, drop down the right side and land on the ledge below the red door. Jump up
and around the ledge above you to land on it. Go through the red door. Continue
traveling to the right and go through the next door. Be careful here! Drop down
the shaft WHILE HUGGING THE LEFT WALL. If you're quick enough, you will land
next to the first door on the left. Go through it to get another Missile
Expansion (MAX 90). Leave the way you came and drop to the bottom of the shaft.
Go through the door on the left. Keep going through every door until you come
across Kraid.

|  Boss Fight: Kraid  |                                                        |
=====================+

Kraid can be a pretty easy boss to defeat, but he can also be really hard.
Here are two methods to beat him.

Method #1 - Start out by going into Morphball Mode. Roll up next to him and
bomb like crazy. You have to touch him for this to work, so you will lose
health. However, you won't lose very much. Three tanks is the most that can
be lost, but losing two tanks is more realistic. Quite easy. You should beat
him on your first try with this method.

Method #2 - To do this method, you need the Ice Beam. Start out by freezing
his spikes. Jump over the frozen spikes and shoot Missiles. Lots and lots of
Missiles. Repeat over and over until he is dead. You can only freeze the top
two spikes though, so don't forget to jump over the bottom one every now and
then.

When you are done you will gain an increase of 75 Missiles to your max
amount. (MAX 165)

+==============================================================================+

Now, before you leave the room, drop into the lava and shoot the one block that
is solid blue. This will reveal an Energy Box. To get it, jump onto the middle
platform and then up next to the door. Don't go through the door; just stand
next to it. Morph into a ball and slowly roll off the edge. As you fall push and
hold right so you fall into the Energy Box (ENERGY BOX 5). Now leave the room.

Now go right through all the doors until you are in a big vertical shaft. Now
this can be friggen hard! You just need to get a hang of the following method.

Start out by shooting the bottom few blocks of the big pillar. Jump up onto
where the blocks used to be, aim up, and shoot all the blocks above you.
Now jump up and down until the first blocks you destroyed reappear. Hopefully
you will be in the air when they reappear so that you land on them. Now aim up
and shoot all of the blocks above you, then jump onto the single solid block to
the left of the pillar. Once on this block, jump straight up and shoot the
pillar at the peak of the jump. Now jump into the space you just shot. Aim up
and shoot the above blocks above you and repeat until you're at the top. If you
skipped the Missile Expansion behind the door below the top on, you can get it
now. Anyway, go through the top door. Head left and perform a Screw Attack every
time you jump to protect yourself. Go through the door at the end of the room.

Drop to the bottom of this room and go through the door on the left. Hop
through this room killing all the enemies for health. Go through the door and up
the shaft, then through the door at the top. Go through this horizontal room and
into the next. In here carefully go up to the top of the room. If you fall to
the bottom you might have to start over from the beginning of this paragraph.
Once you are at the top, take the elevator.

+=======================================+
4.4) Part 4: Defeating Ridleyt  -----
+=======================================+

+============+
Brinstar
+============+

Get off the elevator and go through the door. Head to the top of the shaft and
shoot through the roof. You will have to travel through Norfair to get to
Ridley. If you know to get to Norfair on your own, then do it. But if you don't
know how to get there yet, then go through the door on the right and keep
traveling to the right until you are in the blue vertical shaft. Go up it and
through the first door on the right. Go through the next door and drop to the
bottom of the orange shaft. Now go through the door at the bottom. Head right,
Screw Attacking anything and everything. Now go through the next door and take
the elevator.

+===========+
Norfair
+===========+

Head to the right through both doors and drop down the shaft. Bomb the second
block of floor from the right and continue down to the very bottom of the room.
Go through the door on the left. The first part of this room is a pain, but it
should be smooth sailing after that. Just Screw Attack through the enemies and
go through the door. Next, drop down to the bottom of this room and go through
the door. Take the elevator.

+====================+
Ridley's Hideout
+====================+

Start out by going through the door on the left. Then go left again. This room
looks identical to the last, but it's not. There is one major difference. Go
stand up against the door on the right (don't go through it) and aim up. Shoot
the roof. A portion of the roof should disappear. Jump onto the top of the door
(Yes, you CAN stand on top of the door) and then jump up through the hole in the
roof. Now jump up to the door on the left and go through it.

Make your way to the left. You will eventually reach a Missile Expansion
(MAX 170). Now head back to the right and through the door. Bomb down through
the floor and go through the door on the left.

Kill the orbs with Missiles or your Screw Attack and hop over the silver bars.
Now jump over two of the purple pillars. Walk to the third one and count 8
blocks of floor to the right. Bomb that block and use your Morphball to drop
into the hole. Roll to the left side of the room and when you reach the end, lay
a bomb to open up the way out of the tunnel. Go through the red door on the
left.

Now, the floor turns fake after 7 blocks, not counting the one entirely under
the door. Jump across to get the Energy Box (Energy Box 6). Don't worry, the gap
is only two blocks wide. It's not that hard.

Anyway, when you're done, just drop down through the invisible gap and go
through the door on the left. Continue heading to the left through this room,
taking out the orbs as you go. Go through the next door and fall to the bottom
of this new vertical room. Go through the door on the right. Perform many Screw
Attacks as you travel through the tight passage in order to kill some of the
enemies. Eventually, you will get some more Missiles (MAX 175). Continue heading
to the right and through the next door. Also, you might notice a tunnel in the
roof. Try to get inside of it, because it is a lot easier to get through the
room by taking the hidden tunnel.

Now we have one last Missile Expansion to get. It is hard to get though. I have
only gathered it a few times out of the dozens of times I've played through
this game. If you want to try to get it, then follow the boxed paragraph below.
IF YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN HUNTING DOWN A HARD TO GET MISSILE EXPANSION, then
just go up and through the first door on the left. Continue to the left through
all the doors until you get to Ridley.

+==============================================================================+
To get this next Missile Expansion, go up to the top of the shaft and head
through the door on the left. Hop to the left and Screw Attack into whatever.
Head to the left, going through all the doors until you are at the area with
the invisible gap. Now, when you drop down it, practice this helpful
technique used to help you jump farther:
1) Enter Morphball mode.
2) Roll off the edge.
3) As you start to fall, exit Morphball Mode and jump!

Doing this lets you jump farther, because instead of jumping off the edge of
a platform, you fall away from the platform AND THEN jump.

Anyway, drop down the gap. Now head to the right through all the doors until
you get to a place where you can drop down. This is the hard part, but if
you use the above technique, it's much easier. Stand as close to the edge as
you can without falling off, and use the above technique to cross the gap.
If you do make it, then just continue right through the door until you get
the Missile Expansion (Max 180). Great! Now go back to the gap and drop down.
Head to the left until you get to Ridley!
+==============================================================================+

To those who didn't get the Missile pack: Aren't you glad you took the lazy way
out?

+==============================================================================+
|  Boss Fight: Ridley  |                                                       |
======================+

This is so easy. A bit of a nice break from the rest of the game, but too
dull if you ask me.

Method 1 - You can do this IF you have the wave beam. Drop down into the
lava, and quickly get under Ridley. Now aim up and shoot. The fire balls
won't be able to hit you, but the lava will do damage. Hopefully you have
the Varia suit! To cut down on the amount of damage taken from the lava,
just jump up and down the whole time, so you are only in lava half the time.
Remember, this only works if you have the Wave Beam, because the Wave beam
is the only one that can shoot through walls and platforms.

Method 2 - You can freeze his fireballs with your Ice Beam. While they are
frozen, he can't do anything but jump up and down. Give him a mouthful of
Missiles.

Method 3 - If the fireballs are moving in a long arc instead of bouncing up
and down like normal, then you can use this third method. Just stand right
next to Ridley. The fireballs will arc right over you, leaving you safe and
unattackable. Just aim up and blast away. A minute or so of holding the B
Button will kill her.

When you are done, you will gain an increase of 75 Missiles to your max
amount. You should now have all of the Missiles Expansions (MAX 255).

+==============================================================================+

When you're done, jump up against the silver wall on the left side of the room
and as you fall, hold left so you land in the gap. Now shoot the purple door
with ten Missiles instead of the normal five. Bomb jump out from between the
silver pillars and roll through the door.

In here, the room will appear to be filled with lava, but most of it is solid
floor. Run across but be careful, because there is a small pit of real lava
somewhere in there. On the other side of the room is an Energy Box. If you have
been following my guide, then you just got your seventh, but since the game only
lets you have six, it will just fill up all your health. Now go all the way to
the right until you can't go anymore. Climb up the vertical room and go through
the door at the top. Next, go left through this room and into the next. You
guessed it! Take the elevator.

+=======================================+
4.5) Part 5: Completing the Game  ---
+=======================================+

+===========+
Norfair
+===========+

Go through the door and use the red balls as platforms. Climb up and go through
the top door. Head to the right, going through all the doors, then go up the
vertical room. when you get to the point where the room is divided in two by the
floor, shoot through the roof and go through the second door on your left (after
the roof). Go left through this room and into the next. Now take one last look
at Norfair, smile, and take the elevator.

+============+
Brinstar
+============+

Go left through the orange room. Next, go through the door and up the vertical
room. Head through the first door on the right. Now travel to the right, going
through three more doors. You should be in the second small room. Bomb the
seventh block of floor from the left. Now drop down to the bottom and go
through the door on the left to get the Ice Beam. It is exactly the same as the
last Ice beam, yet it seems so much more pathetic. Anyway, it disables the
Wave Beam. Now go back to the right, through the door, and up the short room.
Head to the left until you get to the big blue vertical room.

This game is almost done. Before you go into Tourian, you should go around
getting as many Missiles expansions as you can. If you don't have six Energy
Boxes, then you should definitely pick some up. You can use the Power Up guides
in the back of this walkthrough. Also, I claimed that this guide would tell you
how to get all the items in this game. You can only hold six Energy Boxes, but
there are eight hidden throughout this game. If you have been following this
guide word for word, then you should have picked up seven. If you want to get
the last Energy Box so you can say that you've beaten Metroid 100%, then read
the next boxed paragraph. It's fairly easy to get. Everyone else, skip it.

So the path once again divides here.

- People who ARE NOT getting the last Energy Box, or already have gotten it need
  to go up to the very top of the room.

- People who ARE going to get the last Energy Box have to go down to the bottom
  of the room.

+==============================================================================+
To get the last Energy Box, head through the door at the bottom of the blue
room. Roll through the Morphball tunnel. Once on the other side of the
tunnel, aim up up and shoot at the ceiling near the wall above the tunnel.
One of the blocks on the roof can be destroyed, revealing a hidden Energy
Box. First, start by following one of those crawling creatures around to the
left. When you hit the end of the room, it will crawl up the wall and onto
the ceiling. Follow it back to the right. When it starts crawling down the
wall above the Morphball tunnel, freeze it. Try to freeze it right as it's
directly between the roof and the floor. Use it as a platform to jump into
the energy tank.
+==============================================================================+

When you're ready to enter Tourian, go up to the top of the big blue vertical
shaft located to the right of where we first started when you first turned on
the game. At the top, go through the door on the left. Run straight across this
room and into the next. Now take the elevator.

+==============================================================================+
     If you have been following my guide word for word, you should have:

- All 21 Missile Expansions, and
- Kraid defeated, and
- Ridley defeated for a combined Maximum amount of 255 Missiles.
- Eight Energy Boxes (Only six are visible)
- Maru Mari (Morph Ball)
- The Long Shot

+==============================================================================+

+===========+
Tourian
+===========+

This place is SUPER easy once you become good at destroying the Metroids. You
will probably die your first time through, but hopefully you will have opened
all of the red doors and destroyed all of the force fields before you die.

Anyway, go down the long room and kill all the Metroids you see. To kill them,
just freeze them with your Ice Beam and give them five Missiles. If they latch
onto you, you can go through a door to get them off, or you could bomb them.
When you're going down, take it platform by platform. Don't rush.

    *** Quick Note ***

  Metroids usually give you a large amount of health or ammo when you kill them,
  so you should still have nearly all of your health and missiles when you get
  to the boss room. Don't avoid killing them, because life will just get harder.

  Also, because you tend to regain your health back so quickly from killing the
  Metroids, you can easily start out in Tourian with only 30 health. If you are
  extremely low on missiles, it would be a good idea to just let a Metroid kill
  you right away. Write down the code, then try to make your way towards Mother
  Brain. This way, if you run out of Missiles, you can try again. If you don't
  "save" before you go through Tourian and you run out of Missiles, then you are
  screwed. Finding Missiles outside of Tourian takes forever. It's boring and it
  will take forever, possibly causing you to get a worse ending. Be careful with
  your Missiles. Special thanks to Dan Mesey for suggesting that I warn people
  about this. Sorry for the inconvenience, Dan!

At the bottom, shoot the orange door with ten Missiles. Now go right through the
next room. Beware the red rings of fire. Shoot the red door and go down through
the next room. At the bottom is another red door. Go through.

This is the easiest room in Tourian (in my opinion). Go back and forth,
eliminating the Metroids for health. When you're full, go through the blue door
on the left.

We are in the boss room. But to get to Mother Brain, we first have to get
past these force fields. They take eight or more hits to destroy. When you
damage them, they will regenerate, so be quick and relentless. Once you destroy
them, they are gone for good. Even if you die, they will still be gone. So take
all of them out. If you make it to Mother Brain without dying, then you could
attempt to fight her. Also, you can go back out into the last room (the one that
I said was easy) and recover health there. If you die, no biggy. Just start over
from the beginning of Tourian. Go along and go straight to Mother Brain. It
should be easier since all the doors are open and force fields are gone.

When she is dead, she will disintegrated. A time bomb will be set and you will
have a limited time to escape. Go left past where Mother Brain used to be and
go through the door. Now go up the vertical shaft. At the top is an elevator.
Take it. Congrats! You just beat Metroid!

5) Endings  -----------------------------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

Obviously, there are spoilers here. I think everyone knows the twist at the end
of the game by now, but you've been warned just in case.

Here are descriptions of all 5 endings. If you beat the game, but don't want to
go through the entire game again to see a better ending, just put in the code
and beat Mother Brain to see the better ending. If you have problems figuring
out if the letters of the passwords are supposed to be CAPITALS or lower case
then you can look below for reference. The first character is a zero.

I put #1 right below the L because they look a lot alike. I figured that this
would make it easier to compare them and distinguish one from the other.

+==============================================================================+
6) Boss Strategies  ---------------------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

+=====================+
Boss Fight: Kraid
+=====================+

Kraid can be a pretty easy boss to defeat, but he can also be really hard. Here
are two methods to beat him.

Method #1 - Start out by going into Morphball Mode. Roll up next to him and bomb
like crazy. You have to touch him for this to work, so you will lose health.
However, you won't lose very much. Three tanks is the most that can be lost, but
losing two tanks is more realistic. Quite easy. You should beat him on your
first try with this method.

Method #2 - To do this method, you need the Ice Beam. Start out by freezing his
spikes. Jump over the frozen spikes and shoot Missiles. Lots and lots of
Missiles. Repeat over and over until he is dead. You can only freeze the top two
spikes though, so don't forget to jump over the bottom one every now and then.

+======================+
Boss Fight: Ridley
+======================+

This is so easy. A bit of a nice break from the rest of the game, but too dull
if you ask me.

Method 1 - You can do this IF you have the wave beam. Drop down into the lava,
and quickly get under Ridley. Now aim up and shoot. The fire balls won't be able
to hit you, but the lava will do damage. Hopefully you have the Varia suit! To
cut down on the amount of damage taken from the lava, just jump up and down the
whole time, so you are only in lava half the time. Remember, this only works if
you have the Wave Beam, because the Wave beam is the only one that can shoot
through walls and platforms.

Method 2 - You can freeze his fireballs with your Ice Beam. While they are
frozen, he can't do anything but jump up and down. Give him a mouthful of
Missiles.

Method 3 - If the fireballs are moving in a long arc instead of bouncing up and
down like normal, then you can use this third method. Just stand right next to
Ridley. The fireballs will arc right over you, leaving you safe and
unattackable. Just aim up and blast away. A minute or so of holding the B Button
will kill her.

+============================+
Final Boss: Mother Brain
+============================+

Stand where the final force field used to be and shoot a single Missile to break
the jar she's in. Now blast away! To avoid the red rings, just stand where the
force field was, and when they are coming at you, fall down to the RIGHT! If you
ever fall down into the lava on the left, then you will have to freeze one of
the fiery rings, jump on it, then jump back up to safety. Also, when you are
fighting, you can freeze one or two of the rings. Since there can only be three
rings on the screen at once, having two of them paralyzed will help out a great
deal.

+==============================================================================+
7) Energy Box Locations  ----------------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

+==============+
  Brinstar
+==============+

1)
Items Needed: Nothing

How To Get: From where you first start out in the game, head all the way to the
            right, going through all the doors. Then go up and through the first
            door on the right. Continue going to the right through all the doors
            until you come across this box. You probably already got this one
            while you were getting the bombs. In fact, you would have had to go
            out of your way to avoid it.

2)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From where you first start out in the game, travel all the way to
            the right, going through all the doors. Then go up and through the
            first door on the right. Go through the next door as well. Then go
            up the vertical room and through the door on the right. Now go all
            the way to the right. When you get to the area with all the pipes in
            the wall, roll through the top one. When you hit a dead end, aim up
            and shoot the roof. Jump up and into the wall on the right. Continue
            heading to the right through all the doors until you get the Energy
            Tank.

3)
Items Needed: Ice Beam

How To Get: From where you first start out, go right through the first two
            doors. You should soon find a Morphball tunnel. Aim up up and shoot
            the ceiling. One of the blocks on the roof can be destroyed,
            revealing a hidden energy tank. Now follow one of those crawling
            creatures around to the left. When you hit the end of the room, it
            will crawl up the wall and onto the ceiling. Follow it back to the
            right. When it starts crawling down the wall at the Morphball
            tunnel, freeze it and use it as a platform to get closer to the
            Energy Box. Jump into it.

+=============+
  Norfair
+=============+

4)
Items Needed: Ice Beam, High Jump, Bombs

How To Get: From where you get the high jump boots, keep going left through all
            the doors until you get to a green room. Go into Morphball mode and
            roll up against the door on the right. Bomb the ground to find a
            secret tunnel, and fall through it. Go all the way right through
            all the doors until you get to the small room at the end. Roll up
            into a ball and lay a bomb near the door. Drop down to the bottom
            of the lower part of the room. Go left. At the end of this room is
            the Energy Box.

+==================+
  Kraid's Lair
+==================+

5)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From the elevator, go down and through the second door on the right.
            Head right, bombing through the blue wall.

6)
Items Needed: Nothing is needed, but it helps if Kraid has been defeated. It's
              also a good idea to have the Varia suit.

How To Get: Go to the room where you fought Kraid. Jump into the lava on the
            right side of the center platform, and shoot at the wall while
            jumping in and out to lessen the amount of damage taken. You're
            aiming for the solid blue block. The Energy Tank will appear after
            you destroy the block. Now jump up onto the ledge above this area
            (don't accidentally go through the door). Enter Morphball mode and
            slowly roll off the edge. While falling, hold right on the D-pad and
            try to land in the Energy tank.

+======================+
  Ridley's Hideout
+======================+

7)
Items Needed: Nothing

How To Get: From the elevator to Norfair, go left four times. Be careful,
            because the two center blocks of floor are fake. The seventh and
            eighth blocks from the right are the ones you need to jump over.

            If you fall down the gap, don't worry! Go left through the next two
            doors, up the vertical room, and to the right through the next two
            doors.

            If you fall a second time while trying to climb up the vertical
            room, go all the way to the right, then go all the way up, and
            finally to the left until you are back at the Energy tank.

8)
Items Needed: None, but it helps if Ridley is defeated.

How To Get: Right after you defeat Ridley, go through the door on the left. Just
            jump into the lava and quickly run across it. Only a small part of
            the lava is real; so it's safe to cross. The Energy Box is at the
            end.

+==============================================================================+
8) Missile Expansion Locations  ---------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

                                   LOOK HERE!

Some rooms have up to three missile expansions in them! So what I did was make
one description for all three of them. Look below at the example. Expansions 5,
6, and 7 are all sitting right next to each other. Instead of making three sets
of identical instructions, I made one. It's less confusing, trust me.

+==============================================================================+
** EXAMPLE **
5, 6, 7) Norfair - High jump - From the elevator to Brinstar, go right all
the way until you get to the purple shaft. Climb the platforms up and go
through the second door on your right. Go left through this room to find
three missile upgrades.
+==============================================================================+

+==============+
  Brinstar
+==============+

1)
Items Needed: Nothing

How To Get: From the start, go all the way to the right through all of the
            doors, then go up and through the first door on the right. Go
            through the next door as well, then go down the orange vertical
            room. At the bottom, go through the door on the right. Continue
            going to the right while avoiding enemies until you get to the
            Missile Expansion.

2)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From the starting point in Brinstar, head to the right, going
            through all the doors you encounter. At the end, go up the vertical
            room and through the first door on the right. Go through the next
            door as well, then go up and through the door on the right. Go all
            the way to the right. When you get to an area with a bunch of pipes
            in the wall, go into morphball mode and roll through the top one.
            Continue heading to the right until you come across the Missile
            Expansion.

+=============+
  Norfair
+=============+
3)
Items Needed: Nothing

How To Get: From the starting point in Norfair, go through the door on the left.
            The missile expansion is next to the purple wall with the hidden
            tunnel.

4)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From where the third missile expansion is, go left and bomb through
            the purple wall. Continue going left and exit through the door. Drop
            down to the bottom of this room and go through the bottom door. Go
            all the way to the right to receive this pack of Missiles.

5, 6, 7)
Items Needed: High jump

How To Get: From the starting point in Norfair, go to the right until you get to
            the purple shaft. Climb the platforms up and go through the second
            door on your left. Go left through this room to find three more
            Missile upgrades.

8, 9)
Items Needed: Bombs, Ice Beam, High Jump

How To Get: From the elevator to Brinstar, go right until you get to the purple
            vertical shaft and drop to the bottom (don't bomb through the
            floor). Go through the door on the left and go left through the
            purple wall. You should soon find your next two Missiles packs.

10, 11)
Items Needed: High Jump

How To Get: From the elevator to Brinstar, go all the way to the right, until
            you get to the purple shaft. Climb to the top of the shaft. Shoot
            the second block from the right on the roof and jump up into the new
            section of the shaft and go left. Two more expansions are in here.

12, 13)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From the room where we got the High Jump boots, go all the way to
            the left through all the doors. Once we're in the vertical shaft,
go
            into the lava pit (It won't hurt you) and bomb the left side. You
            will now fall to the bottom. Go right twice and bomb down the floor
            (you should be in a green room). At the bottom of this new pit is a
            door going right. Go through the door to get to more Missile
            upgrades.

14)
Items Needed: Bombs

How To Get: From Missiles 12 and 13, go left, up, and right all the way
            through all the doors. It is at the very end.

+==============================================================================+
9) Frequently Asked Questions  ----------------------------------------------
+==============================================================================+

**********************

Q: Why are there two Ice Beams?

A: There isn't any official reason as to why a second Ice Beam is there. No one
   knows for certain.

**********************

Q: Does getting both Ice Beams do anything special?

A: No. The second Ice Beam's only purpose is to replace the Wave Beam without
   making you travel all the way to Norfair. They are both the same, and getting
   both will make no difference.

**********************

Q: I got both of the Ice Beams; then I got the Wave Beam. Now I need to kill the
   Metroids. Do I have to reset my game, or can I just go pick up the Ice Beam
   again.

A: Yes, you can get another Ice Beam. You can pick both Ice beams up as many
   times as you want. They respawn every time you leave the room, so there is
   nothing to worry about.

**********************

Q: HELP! My password doesn't work!

A: This is the biggest problem I've encountered. Usually, you are only
   misreading your own handwriting. With words, you can tell what each letter
   is. HEIP makes no sense, but HELP does. But when you just have a random
   jamble of letters, it's harder to tell.

   The main letters that get mixed up are I and L, O and zero, and U and V. Just
   try swapping the letters. That sometimes works. And if it doesn't, then you
   could always use the last password and replay the parts covered by the
   defective code.

**********************

Q: I hear that Metroid cartridges came with two different label arts. Tell me
   about them!

A: Yes, there were two. The first one is the original label. It shows Samus
   jumping around in Brinstar, and it's like an actual screenshot (sort of). The
   second one is a picture of Samus shooting at you. It is not a screen shot.

   The difference between the two is somewhat similar to Rad Racer and Rad
   Racer 2's label art. Rad Racer has a screenshot, while Rad racer 2 has a
   picture of a race car driver with a helmet on.

Also, thanks to Michael Basham, who sent me my first Metroid related email.
It's people like him who help make this guide better. Many thanks!!

To Dan Mesey, for suggesting that I warn people about the danger of using up all
of your Missiles while trying to replentish your supplies in Tourian. Perfect
example of a simple suggestion that should have been in the guide from the
start.

To Brian, for correcting an error I made. At the end of each section, there is a
box with all the items you should have collected by now. It was incorrect, and
suggested that people should go into Tourian with the Wave Beam, which would be
a disaster. Fixed!

To GameFAQs, GameSpot and all their affiliates, Neoseekers, 1up.com,
Honest Gamers, and Mount Metroid for hosting this guide on their sites.

And finally, to you, for using this guide. It's you who made making this guide
worth the effort. I hope it helped!
