"The classic one that started it all........"

Once there was a man named Gumpeii Yokoi. He was just a game designer, who made a little game called Metroid. Didn't expect it to be that big. Just a fun game to pass the time right? Yeah well, Metroid grew. And grew. And GREWWWWWWWW! It got so big that it was almost a cult. No NES library is complete without Metroid. Now on to the review.......


Graphics 7/10
Ok this is Metroid's weak point. The graphics were okay, but i think that they could have been better. Samus does move very nicely, but the backgrounds are pretty bland, and the bosses (except the mother brain) look kinda dull. Otherwise the graphics are okay.

Sound FX 8/10
The FX are pretty good, like samus' beam and her footsteps. the enemies sound pretty good too. Sometimes someof the sound FX get annoying, like when your health goes below critical status. When that happens, there is this annoying bleeping sound that will make you want to chuck the game out the window.

Music 10/10
Ok, this is where Metroid really shines. Metroids tunes will live in our heads forever. Some of the music is patriotic, some of it is energetic, and some of it is downright creepy. The title music is a classic.

Gameplay/Controls 9/10
This game is so fun. Part of it's allure was the fact that it was made for the Nintendo, and seemed damn near impossible to beat. You had to bomb around for secret passages for hours on end, and that was a huge part of it's fun factor too, just to explore. The control is okay, but you'll probably die a frustating death before you handle the learning curve.
