"Great game."

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is a sort of rags to riches story. You play as Little Mac, an up-and-coming 17 year old boxer from the Bronx. Your trainer is Doc Louis, a legendary Boxer from the 50's (I read the comic!). Together, you must fight your way through 3 circuits in the hope of getting to the Dream Fight--with Mike Tyson!!

Graphics: 9/10- The Graphics are very well done. Little Mac's opponents are all fairly large, and they have enough animation to keep you entertained (And this animation is important to the game...it's telegraphing your opponent's next move!). The expression on your opponents' faces when you hit them are funny as well. Finally, the "Ring corner" scenes are nicely done.

Sound: 7/10- The sounds are strange, not realistic concerning boxing but then, neither is the game really. There's the prerequisite "raaahraahraaah" of the crowd, and the 'bonk! bonk! bonk!' when you hit your opponent. The "weeeoweeyyeyyeyoooo!" When someone gets knocked down is funny too. The music is subdued, but noticeable.

Control: 10/10- In a word: Beautiful. Everything is reletively simple, and it all responds beautifully. About the only complaint would be the lack of Pause button, but that's minor, and it has more to do with lack of buttons on the controller than an actual control problem.

Story: 5/10- Well you're a boxer, and you have to defeat other boxers in an attempt to rise through the ranks and be able to fight the ultimate boxer, Mike Tyson. Makes sense. What did you expect?

Challenge: 7/10- It's all about figuring out what animations mean what, and the best way to counter it--and actually having the reflexes to pull it off. Once you do that, the game becomes easier, but Tyson remains tough no matter what.

Replay Value: 6/10- As stated above, once you've figured out the patterns of the opponents, it becomes alot easier. As such, unless you want to try for a perfect record, there's not much to do once you've beaten it.

Overall: 9/10- One of the best boxing games ever, because it focuses on fun more than realism. Its cartoony graphics, goofy sounds and opponents, and difficult rivals (At least the higher up ones) insure that this is a game to be bought as quickly as possible.
